ctsinges which
I think it won't work. You have to look at siyah or dorimanx kernel, they can handle sammy and for example cm. But you have to check if the dualboot function will work for two that different roms, I don't think so...

[Q] Dual boot in Siyah

I think the new update makes the dual boot usable...
if not, ok...
But if so, how do i install a rom on the secondary partition?
I really want Gingerbread and ICS
Go to Siyahs website which is gokhanmoral.com and read his post under SiyahKernel V3.1beta1.
It explains the whole process.

Read the Siyah thread. There is no video. No shortcuts. Read & learn. Or have a look @ the dualboot thread in the General section.

Anybody having issues with the toggle bar in dual boot? Dragon ICS v2.4 is secondary ROM and is apparently functioning fine, however I have tried EpsilonProject v2 and AndyX v12, both are having issues with the data toggle and Epsilon also having problem with GPS and Rotation toggle (Not toggling) using Siyah 3.2b8+ as kernel for both ROM's
My device is Galaxy S2 I9100P
Thanks for any help

Another best question
IMHO, Simply no "best" kernel for ace whether stock or aosp or cm. But there is a better kernel, mr An0nym0us work cm kernel till v 1.5. Mr ketut work on stock and cm kernel, and many more people that work on ace kernel. Mr Samsung compile kernel that suit on stock rom.

If there are only two options the better one is best
You proved your self wrong for cm zimage-mod is better and for stock, cf-root is better (which is true on both)

[Q] Updating to a Jelly Bean Custom Rom

Hi there!
I am wanting to update my Samsung Galaxy GT-i9300 but am worried about the process because of having installed a custom kernel previously (would this muck up installing a new custom rom I wonder..)
Please find attached a screenshot of the settings and please tell me what I should do (if anything needs done) before I flash a new custom rom.
Cheers!
if you're worried about kernels, then just flash stock kernel then flash a custom rom on it.

kk, could you provide me with a suitable stock kernel (or links to one) which will be compatible with the rom I have installed?
any stock kernel that is for jb will be fine.

I am on android version 4.0.4 (so technically not JellyBean). and its safe to flash a stock kernel for JB despite being on that version before I flash a custom rom?
Sorry for asking, get confused easily..
you should be fine updating with a custom kernel (as all roms flash a kernel as well). Just make sure you factory reset when moving from ics to JB as you will most likely encounter problems if you don't.

I would suggest flashing ICS stock kernel first if you're worried. I thought you were already on jb.

Easy
Reflash the stock ics ROM
And flash any custom ROM you want
Enjoy

i know, but roms with custom kernels normally show what the kernel is, but it's showing version 3.0.8, even after flashing a different kernel it still shows as 3.0.8. When i flash JB roms it shows the custom kernels. So wondering if it's always going to be shown as version 3.0.8 or not cause i can't tell if the kernel i flash has actually been flashed or not.
Just use CPU spy app. It shows the kernel info

Do you get the features of the upgrade kernel? For instance, custom boot animation or back light notification or over clocking? Then you got the custom kernel.
Sometimes developers forget to change the description. That just happened in Flappjaxxx build #12 kernel.
Thats odd whn i flash a kernel it shows up
