[Q] S3 colour change? Is it possible? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I bought a s3 in white and my condition is getting worse day after day I was wondering if its possible to change the colour from white to black or brown the reason I'm asking is that I want to know if someone has done it and if its possible and safe to do it. My warranty has expired and I have no problem opening my phone most likely I'm gonna get it done from a shop

it is possible if you want to break open to device. from what I understand it is quite difficult though as e.g. the glas & frame & below levels are all glued together. search on youtube for videos.

Bad pixel on my Galaxy Ace

After month of using Ace I found bad pixel on my screen
What's even worst is that it's in the middle of the screen and I can see it all the time. Did install Dead Pixel Detect to confirm this and unfortunately it is there.
Does anyone know if repair center will give me new one or at least change the screen on this one?
It depense of your warranty... But for me, I know that they will give me a new one if I have this problem.

I'll contact my warranty service and ask them about it, but I'm worried that they might want to change the screen and I don't want that.
After they changed screen and digitizer in my i900(I had white dot from overheating and poor digitizer - common problems with i900) it had specks of dust between the screen and the touch layer.
Hopefully they will give me new one. I'll keep you posted on my situation, maybe it'll be helpful to some

[Q] help guys please with my galaxy s2 screen

hi guys i hope some one replay
my sgs2 screen got blue tint on top of my screen i tried 4 firmwares the same so i toke my phone to my local shop that i bought it from because i have 1 year warranty
so today they told me it was a firmware proplem they told that they installed another rom and now it have no blue tint on top
but i sure they are telling lies
im sure they have changed the screen cuz no way a firmware fix this
im going to take my device tomorrow from the shop is there any way to know if they have replaced the screen ? ?? ?
i want to know that cuz my warranty is replacing the device not fixing it !
so i want to know if there is any way to know if they changed the screen or not ??
thanks alot guys on advance
First thing I would do is see if the blue tint problem is fixed. I imagine you will be able to do that easily.
If there is no blue tint problem you will be happy, yes?
Not sure what your asking since your phone is being fixed under warranty for free.
Edit: ok read your post again and you want the phone replaced not fixed. Maybe you could check if the phone has the same serial number and ime??

if they changed the screen the serial number and ime will still be the same right ? ?
so any other way to see if they replaced the screen
Just call them and ask...I'm not sure why would they go all the trouble of replacing the screen and then lie about it.

what is the duration of your phone on their hand? if less than 1 day, hard to believe they can change the LCD so fast.

[Q] Yellow Tint on screen edges

Hi,
I see yellow tints on the screen edges when the phone gets hot. I know Sony has admitted this to be a problem with Xperia S. I contacted Sony Support and they said that they can't support the phone as the phone isn't available in US. Can anybody suggest me my options? How do I get this fixed? Has anyone in US faced this problem?
Thanks

First we have a few threads like this that you could have found instead of posting in a new thread.
What is your phone market built? I mean for which market your phone was built for? Where did you buy it?
Open the batter cover in the back and read the lable somewhere says 12Wxx what is the number for XX?
First of all I didn't find answer to my question on any of the threads posted. Maybe I missed it, sorry for that.
The number you asked is 12W09. I bought the phone from ebay from a reseller. Not sure where he imported the phone from.
Its part of the screen, the only solution is to either A, keep the phone really cool, or B replace it. As you dont have any RMA option, you're left with option A. G'luck with that.
lolz, option A isn't really an option. Thing gets hot and if it's anything like mine it'll start showing at lower temperatures and spread.
I'd contact the shop you bought it from and ask them to send you a replacement.
Does anyone know what fix is it? is it something we can do it ourselves?

[Q] Purple flash issue when turning screen on. Need some guidance :)

Hey XDA peeps
Well, by my post counts u can telll im not a active poster here but in any case, lets get started
Device i own :
S3, GT-i9300 white
Currently running stock firmware. (gave to service centre to fix an issue and they just re-flashed the rom -.- )
Issue :
At times (not always) when i turn my screen on, it flickers a purple screen (for maybe for 0.3 seconds ) before getting back to my screen.
Ive been getting thing for a long time. I thought it was nothing, but now im worried.
I had this issue on when i had my phone brand new, when i rooted, when i using roms, etc etc.
So its like once a week i would see it.
I hope im making sense here.
So im just hoping someone out there has faced this and knows what to do, or atleast someone can guide me to a solution.

You can ask and they may well say it requires new screen and give you the cost of replacing .
jje
I shouldn't worry about it, mine has done that occasionally on and off for as long as I've had the phone, you could try Samsung, but the problem is getting it to do it when they look at it!
Could help if you still have the original bill when visiting your local dealer. This might be a repair under warranty circumstances.
Sounds like a hardware issue to me
Good luck with your phone and please report back with any news.
Cheers

I went ahead to the sc centre. They were of no help. They said thry wanted proof of the same. And I was like " how do I present a valid proof of this? " They told me record it on a camera and show them.
So what this means is that every time im turning my screen on im supposed to have a camera on? ???
Is there any way to force it? ?

Weird that you weren't allowed to post on the Q&A section cause you're already a senior member. But anyway since you got it on March then isn't it covered by warranty? Replacement screens on the internet are sometimes bogus unless your really know how to criticized the item being sold. I suggest that you bring it to Samsung for repair.

How much do you think the repairs at the Samsung centers are? I got. My. Phone off someone on kijiji and he got it from Hong Kong for dirt cheap and then I found out the pho was from France pretty sure from Orange. I'm not really the type of person that wants armatures to replace my screen... But the phone is like 300$ now and I do love my phone because no one else I know has the Grey one and I can't sell it on eBay because I have personal things in it, or should I just keep it as a decoration and buy a s4 when it's lower....
I don't know what to do... Is it really worth 200$ to fix a phone that I can get for 300$ but I wonder if they'd fix everything else because I've been having signal problems

Better go and ask them about it as I haven't really encountered bringing in a phone for repair. And if you ask me if it's really worth it to repair a phone for almost half the price when you bought it... well... I think i'll pass and just get a new one because you'll encounter more issues afterwards. Of course it's a different issue when you send it Samsung for warranty issues.

If you take it to a Samsung supported repair shop they will know its under warranty by the imei and serial number. You wont even need to have the reciept if you got it from someone else.Same happened to me once.If you want to replace the screen yourself then buy one on ebay for 140 bucks and do it yourself with a video tutorial from youtube. Its not that hard mate.
Ive changed a few screens for friends with ones from ebay and they are perfectly good and dont have any problems at all.Run perfectly and you save heaps too.

If its under waranty it should be free.Otherwise get a screen from ebay for 140 and fix it yourself and then try and sell the phone for 250.
250 + the 60 you saved will be 310 to go to an S4 at least mate.Id see if its covered first and then you will have a working phone to sell + 200 bucks.

Yeah mate all warranty coverage is free if its something like a hardware issue. If you drop it and they can tell then its up to them but if you dont have any marks on the side that makes it look like it has been dropped then just say that it wont start for some reason.
The bad thing is if it has been rooted and flashed and you havent reset the binary counter. Then if they see that they will most likely send you a letter asking you to pay cos that will mean you have lost the warranty.

Yeah mate if they know its the screen from an accident then they wont fix it.If you want to purposely brick your phone and say it has SDS (sudden desth syndrome) thats up to you but you may want to just fix it yourself if you cant find a non-samsung store that will do it for cheap..meaning screen + labour maybe 200 bucks.
Better to start looking at youtube videos.
