TUTORIAL FOR UPDATEING P500 to GB(baseband update), ROOT THE PHONE, FLASH CWM RECOVERY
I made this tutorial because i took me 4 h of intensive searching for the methods above ,and i hate to search for this kind of things and im sure that im not the only one , with this thread i will redirect you to the topics that you will need to follow, or i will explain to you what to do.
FIRST: Install the USB drivers from http://www.lg.com/us/support/mobile-support download PC Sync, we need the app for the latest USB drivers, or download the USB drivers alone.
Then go in your mobile, in Settings/Applications/Development and enable USB Debugging then go back under Applications Settings make sure that you got checked Unknown Sources
NOTE: I`M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT MY BUILD MAY CAUSE TO YOUR DEVICE, TRY IT ON YOUR OWN RISK!
NOR ME OR OTHER DEVELOPER CAN NOT BE NAMED AS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MALFUNCTION/S THAT MAY OCCUR.And also that i dont have a P500 i have a Galaxy Mini and i build just for tass brunch
You are a noob? you dont know really where to start? ###DONT PANIC###!!!! first step is to check if you got android 2.3.3, witch is also known as Gingerbread, (how you do that? you go into Settings/About Phone and scroll down and you will see Android version.)
If you are on Android 2.2.2 or older then you must follow THIS simple tutorial, and you will update your phone to ver 2.3.3 and the baseband to so you can skip step one.
1. GB Baseband update
Now, if you got Gingerbread you must make sure that you got the latest baseband so it will work with all the custom roms that you are planing to install. Check THIS topic for that, and on the buttom you will se an image, if that basebang is identic with yours or similar, skip this step if NOT then download the P500-v20G-baseband.7z on the buttom of the page, and read to post so you will know what to do...its so easy.
TIP: Will will get 2 popups with OK and CANCEL, and the OK Button its blocked, dont press CANCEL wait 4-7 seconds before you can press the OK.

2. GB ROOT
First you must download the SuperOneClick app , extract it where you want, the run the SuperOneClick.exe from the folder, the app will open and then select ROOT , in the right, you will should see a succes message or ok in the console, reboot your phone then you will see in the menu the Super User icon.
TIP: If get you and error, then pull the battery out of the phone, disconnect the USB cable the power the phone back on and connect the cable and try again

3. CWM Recovery
For the Recovery you must follow THIS thread the procedure is similar to Step 1.IF succeded press VOLUME DOWN BUTTON+HOME+POWER and you are in recovery.

Rom manager caused boot loop
Hi.. I installed Rom Manager onto my friends p500 (it was rooted earlier). but custom recovery was not installed..so i flashed the latest cmw through the rom manager app.
After which i selected to create a back up.. The mobile restarted (to enter the cmw recovery for backup operation).. but soon after the restart the mobile got stuck at the LG Logo.. I waited for about 10mins and it did not respond. Then i removed the battery and then power it on.. but it is stuck at the LG logo.. I am unable to get into custom recovery.. (power+home+volumeup).
Also, Mobile is not detected when connected to pc.
How to resolve this issue?? Please help

updated a link
I found this phone today without a sim or sd card in it today. When I tried to boot it it just sits at the LG logo. I'm not new to MODing and rooting androids but I can't get this to work.
What I've tried is the 3 button rest with no luck so I went to the S/W Updater. I'm using the AIO tool I found in these threads. I've installed the lg drivers and was trying to flash the ICS V10G_00.kdz cause I'm not sure what version of andriod was on it.
I followed the guide but when it starts to flash it gets to 15% and says the phone is not connected to my PC. I attached a screenshot of the error I'm getting. I'm pretty sure I installed everything else I need except I'm not to sure if I have the correct drivers or maybe I need other drivers with them.
Anyone know what I can try to get it working? I haven't messed with many LG's so they are pretty new to me.
Any help would be awesome.
Remember I was never able to boot the phone on so I wasn't able to install any of the drivers that would normally install them selves by plugging in the usb and I couldn't change any of the usb settings in the developers settings.
TIA for any help.
So you "found" phone eh? Maybe they're is a reason no one wanted it anymore.

Yeah I figured this not booting was why they through it out but thought I might be able to recover from it. I've got phones to come back from worse. I just hate these updaters, thats why I never got another Samsung. I didn't even know LG had them. I rooted the optimus s and marquee and never seen an updater. I'm a HTC guy my self.

I tried this but I'm not sure if fastboot is working. I don't see it go into fastboot. I installed the drivers like in the guide and even tried flashing the uboot and xloader and it says done at the end with no error so I'm not sure. I tried flashing the kdz with the updated and still get the same error about the usb not being connected.
Any ideas?

To check if its working, select the option for just fastboot.
Once in that window, type
fastboot devices
This should let you know if it's working.
I like to run the commands manually, Lol it's more reassuring, that everything was done properly.

Here is some help I gave to someone else
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43703982
Since you have fastboot running now, just follow the direction on the third link.
After flashing in fastboot, run the offline flash program.
Actually, what happened to that phone you found, might be the same problem for the person on the third link.

Hello everybody and welcome to my second guide for how to get root, unlocked bootloader, CWM, and finally installing the roms for our precious LG optimus L5! (e610,12 and 17)
Let's start!
If you are still on android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich, follow my other guide: ICS GUIDE
ALL in one!
So for rooting Jellybean i haven't found a proper root method yet, so that means we are going to flash a pre-rooted kdz file!
In this case this pre-rooted kdz file also contains unlocked bootloader and CWM so this is much easier.
1. Download kdz updater (attatched below)
2. Be sure to first install msxml.msi or else you will get crash during the update process.
3. Download the all in one kdz file, this contains firware version 20D Baltic with root, unlocked boot and CWM recovery. (comes in all languages)
4. Make a backup of your phone, contacts etc. (optional)
5. Once you downloaded everything, take your phone out of your pocket and turn it off.
6. Hold the "-" volume button and connect your phone with your pc (make sure you have all the drivers installed)
7. Now your phone should be in emergency/download mode
8. Now we are going to install the new firmware, open up KDZ_updater.exe and set the type to: 3GQCT and phone mode to DIAG
select the kdz file you just downloaded (20d+root + cwm.kdz) and click "launch software update".
9. KDZ updater will probably crash, this is normal, that means that it is finished the last code you will see is something like "wparam: 100"
10.If everything went well your phone should reboot and launch in the new firmware. Download "superuser" from Playstore.
When your phone is bricked you can just follow these steps again to unbrick your device.
Installing custom roms
1. Download the custom rom you want and place it on you phone. (Preferred on external SD card)
2. To install custom roms you have to go into CWM (clock work mod). you can enter CWM by going into terminal and type "su" and then "reboot recovery" OR turn your device off, then press volume"-" + home button + power button until it vibrates and shows LG logo then release only power button and keep pressing both of the others for about 8 seconds then release.
3. While you are in CWM you can navigate with the + and - volume buttons and the power button is enter.
4. Before you install any new rom, wipe everything from your phone by going to "mounts and storage menu" --> format /cache, /data and /media, /system, /sdcard, then wipe the dalvik cache under the advanced tab. If you don't do this you can get problems!
So now you can select your customrom.zip and press the power button, your rom will now install. after it is installed you can reboot your phone and if you did everything right your phone should boot into your new rom, the first boot can take a long time sometimes.
Some custom roms for jellybean:
CM10.1
CM10.2
JellyBeer
If you want a ICS based rom like cm10 or MIUI you first have to flash v10 baseband attatched below.
Happy Flashing!
oh thank god. there is still development for our little l5. thanks you very much. gonna test asap

You're right. The E617G does not have 4.1.2 with stock anyways, only 4.0.3. Please disregard my post.
I meant to post this in in the ICS thread, where it states that there is no unlocked bootloader support for the E617, which is false.
Key combination for recovery is (if I'm not wrong cause it sometimes fails just keep trying) volume"-" + home button + power button until it vibrates and show LG logo then release only power button and keep pressing both of the others for about 8 seconds then release.

KDZ update over V10 failed
Hello,
I tried to isntall this V20 KDZ on top of a V10E image on a E612F.
After flashing and booting,"Home" and "Lg Setup" and "Laucher" and all other apps start crashing.
If I try to flash a V10 KDZ back on, it fails with error "Wparam 100 LParam 1002" after the phone reboots to download mode.
I am only able to flash V20 KDZ files and I can`t get the phone to a point where adb works in order to replace bootloader or whatever.
Any idea to solve this?
Thanks

- maybe a factory reset helps, on this site they explain how: http://www.hard-reset.com/lg-optimus-l5-hard-reset.html
If that didn't worked, can you go into recovery? If so, wipe /system,/data,
/cache and flash over a custom rom like cm10.1 or Flatzki's cleanrom --> not too heavy modified and good performance

Thanks, I tried resetting with the Vol - + PWR + HOME, but the phone behavior was not what I expected. In the end, I managed to install The modded V20 from xoxodemo's thread and mixing and matching with bootloaders for E610 and latest CWM. This allowed me to install CM10.1 on the E612f
Thanks, anyway =)

so before messing things up just wanted to know if this guide also

my first step before anythings else should be making a full backup so which tool/flasher
would you suggest?
tnx.

I think you can simply check if this problem happens in another computer.
Then tell the result here.
I haven't encountered with this type of problem.

Don't think anyone can help a lot because it doesn't seem a normal issue.
What I would say for sure is that the firewall is not the problem because it is off and even if it were on that should not affect the communication between a computer and a phone via USB cable as that is not an IP communication.
PC Companion is not needed to flash a ROM with flashtools.
You don't install flashtools anywhere. The only thing you install for flashtool are the drivers and those are installed in the place where Windows needs to install them. But the application is not installed anywhere it can be run from any place as far as I know. It should work just perfectly from a pendrive, external drive, from drive C, D, or Z, ..., or whatever other storage device. Besides if the process starts you can imply flashtool is working properly.
So the only things I could bet are:
* you have a faulty ROM file. But probably this is not the case as I suppose if you have a faulty ROM flashtools will warn about it somewhere when it reads the ROM.
* you are not using the correct ROM for your phone model (ST25i or ST25a).
* you have a faulty USB cable or USB connector that lost connection on the middle of the process.
* you had not enough battery on the phone when you started the flash proccess so the phone lost power on the middle of the process.
(if flashtools finish the flash process correctly with the message that ask you to unplug and restart phone then 3 and 4 can be discarded)
What I would do is check which phone you own ST25i or ST25a and download the stock 6.1.1.B.1.100 ROM for your model from a reliable source and if possible from somewhere that offers an MD5 checksum to be sure you get the file without errors. Download again the last version of flashtools. Be sure when you flash to have enough battery on the phone (not sure what is the recommendation but more than 60% should be safe). When you flash rest the phone somewhere where nor the phone nor the cable move the least to avoid any lost of connection on the middle of the transfer.
Or you can just install PC Companion and update to the official ROM but probably that would be 6.1.1.B.1.54 ROM that doesn't work very good on my experience.

Ok so i have tried everything on line i even tried takings my phone to a repair shop and my p769 is still stuck on LG security error someone please give me a way i can fix this im new at this kind of stuff so u might need to give me step by step please help i don't want to give up on it
How this happened i tried to install a custom Rom that said it would work with the p769 the phone shut off and when i tried to turn it on i got LG security error and i have tried Google and xda and YouTube someone help!!!!
Thank u in advance
I did the same thing when I was clueless with this stuff. You have a locked bootloader, and you need to unlock it to flash custom roms. Unlocking the bootloader is a mission on its own and is not a guarantee. To fix your problem you'll lose your info etc. on the phone.
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292828 download the fastboot attached file.
2. extract it into a folder
3. run fastboot.bat and select option 1
4. follow the instructions then run the commands in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45554676&postcount=6
5. close and reopen fastboot and select option 5 if your phone came ics stock, and option 7 if it came stock jb
6. now heres the time consuming/difficult part http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
7. once your done and you still can't boot or you have bootloops try factory reseting.
Do u know if this would work if im using a windows 8 laptop

I tried this and now because all of system and everything is done, I can't get back to stock because r&d tool fails at 15% and says my phone is not connected.
Did you flash the xloader and uboot for your stock firmware?

The jb x and u should work on all variations of jb. The key is to flash the x and u that came stock with the phone. If you've flashed both already and weren't able to get past 15% you should try erasing everything again, flash the x & u for ics, and make sure to run LG tool as admin.
Thank you albino cookie, you and Kuma have provided some very useful information. Now I just know when I'm wiping the partitions not to wipe persist. I got past 15% with no problem flashing the u and x loaders. Then I recovered persist via fast boot thanks to albino cookie and Kuma.
Thanks guys! Kuma, I'm flashing your ROM.
