Right I'm new to android and am having a problem I just picked up a doogee 120 handset for very cheap so thought I'd give it a go the only issue I could see was it came with virtually no internal storage not a problem I'll just put a memory card in and use that, oh how wrong was i . not ever using android before I wasn't aware of the issue of apps going on the memory card after reading many threads I'm now confused people saying it can be done others saying it can but you must Root so can someone please give a definitive answer can I store my apps on my SD card. I read you can change the default install directory so they can be installed directly, also I read you can get apps to move them some of which you need to be rooted to use others rooting is not needed and someone else said you can partially move apps using folder mounting, so can someone please help as I'm stuck for how to try this, I should mention I'm in jellybean 4.2.2 and I have no problem in rooting my phone but again not sure how to I have jailbroken a 3gs and iPad 2 so rooting is fine if someone can point me to a guide. Thanks

I'm not able to get the Internal SD card to mount after installing the pre-beta cyanogenmod 7. Is there some setting I'm missing or something that I need to do in particular?
Prior to install I was on the alien build and everything worked fine. Now when I go to the root directory using RootExplorer it says 'the sd card is not currently mounted'.
I've had my atrix for a while and i'm not a complete noob, just not an avid poster. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: I have checked the storage menu and i do have 1.17GB of free space.
It can be found under /mnt/emmc. Unfortunately, I have to inform you for future reference that this is the wrong forum for such a question. Q and A exists for a reason, but I hope I helped.
Please post in the correct sections. Thread moved.

Thanks for the help. I found that but how do I get, for example, Rom Manager or other applications to recognize that location?
Mr Clown, My apologies for posting in the wrong section.

+1 wondering the same
i would also like to know, as i have only a class 1 microsd card and it creates wakeup lag. if i take it out, there is no wakeup lag but my phone wont recognize the internal storage.
I think it varies by application. Some will let you browse there and set it as a default directory for things, but many will not. I have just gotten used to having duplicates of random stuff for now :S I think it is pretty unfortunate, but it is what it is.
Maybe someone will develop something like this:

http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/20724-nook-color-sdcard-and-emmc-swap/
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/27030-questions-on-5gb-emmc-just-hacked-nc/
That's for the Nook, but I can't see why someone couldn't do that for the Atrix. However, I would imagine it won't be our own CM7 team because their task is to port CM7, and thus they are following the CM standards.
I have this problem too, i dont hae a external SD Card
im used to the internal 16 gb as my memory
now iwth CM7 , the phone is lost, browsr wont download, titanium wont find the sd card, nothing is working
so is an EXTERNAL sd card a pre-requisite for CM7, i never knew this..
and if so, what does CM7 do with the huge internal memory if it saves everything to the external (atleast thats where apps see it)
I saw a thread on this last week, before I'd rooted the tablet, and can't find it any more. Please feel free to point me if my question's already been answered!
I have an A101It, so gen 8. I've just rooted it with the '-rw' method on here. Thing is, I can still only use the SD card for file storage - can't even move apps onto it - and would really like to know how to get the system using it as extra 'internal' memory. I might possibly be looking to use it as a swap file, I'm not clear on the terminology. At the very least I should be able to install apps to it, shouldn't I?
Can you do this with the root method I've used, or should I undo that and use uruk droid instead? Has anybody posted working instructions on getting some performance advantage from an SD card? (Or shall I just fill it up with 32gb of pointless home videos that nobody will watch?)
Not sure if i can help but ill try it anyways , did u try the ''app 2 sd'' apps?
I used them when my internal storage was full so i could move my apps to my SD card so i had enough space again.
Hope this helps!
Hi,
another forum recommended I register and ask my question here. I am not a techie. I don't know what I'm doing. This is probably a basic question, but with all the googling I've done, I can't find the answer!
Here goes, and please be easy on me:laugh:
My GS3 was running really slow, running down the battery, just in general not running as well as I remembered from a year before buying it. I decided to back it up, reset it and start from scratch. The phone has run AWESOME! One problem though; when it updated, it installed 4.3. Ever since, I can't do anything with my SD card. I get an error that the SD card is full, and if I look in the settings, it shows zero space on the SD card. If I plug it into my mac, it shows like 12gb of space.
I used to use Android File Transfer and that doesn't work anymore. I recently tried Airdroid, which works great for the internal storage, but tells me that my SD card is full.
Help!
PS I tried to post a link to a screenshot of what storage on my phone looks like, but since I'm a noob, I'm not allowed
When you upgrade to android 4.3 it will change your storage partition from sdcard0 to emulated/0 ... simply it will change its partition so all your old files will not be visible there but they are still in your memory... I suggest you find your old files and move them to new directory... There are many threads on how to find your old files.. Search

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me out.
I'll start up by saying I know nothing about phones or programming so I'd appreciate your inputs if you have the patience to teach a laic
I bought Xiaomi Redmi3 and I'm so far very happy with the phone.
The only thing is I'd like to move some apps to my SD card since the phone only has 16GB.
I read somewhere that since the phone has multilanguage ROM it already has root. It comes with an app called "SuperSU".
Does this mean I can move stuff to the SD card somehow and not break the warranty of the phone?
Is there any way to move stuff to the external storage without rooting the phone?
Thank you so much!
same problem here

Hi, i recentely have tried to solve this problem. As far as i know miui doesn't support any kind of app on the SD.
However, with a rooted phone, i tried to use App2sd.
To use it i had to partition my 32 gb sd, with a first Fat32 partition (almost 20 gb), a Ext3 partition (almost 10gb), and a swap area (almost 2 gb).
App2sd used the second partition, the Ext3 one, to move apps in there.
Everything worked flawlessly, but when i rebooted the phone the MIUI didn't load the second partition (so App2sd said) and so i lost every app i moved in there, without being able to reinstall them (i recieved an error from the playstore).
Surely there may be a solution to the problem through the use of the app, however i'm not good enough to find it, and so i reflashed the miui and rolled back to the previous situation.
Hi I have recently purchased a 64 gb SD card, and it doesn't seem to keep anything on it. I have put movies, photos and app, and they all just disappear. after some quick research I found out the problem may be with my android system. Its a S3mini so it runs on the older android, and apparently it does not allow me to put stuff on the card. Anything I can do so I can save stuff to the card? would rooting my phone or updating the android help? how would I do that properly without damaging my phone. Any help is appreciated

First you should check if your device supports 64gb SD cards, if it does then think about doing something about your operating system, and to update it go to Sammobile website and check to see if your phone has any further updates, if so then download firmware and odin and flash your device, more in depth instructions on flashing with odin can be found in the forum, just search for it, there are very helpful posts that have detailed instructions on how to do it, also if you want you can check for custom roms on xda for your phone and instructions on how to flash it can also be found by searching on the forum. Lastly, the problem you mentioned is either a hardware or software issue so rooting will not change anything. Hope I helped.
