Hello. Happy early Christmas. Decided to treat myself and get a twin 32gig micro sd pack and a micro sd to usb adapter. What I was going to do was have 1 32 gig sd card in phone and use the other in the adapter but when I connect it to my otg cable it flashes that it's removed which it's keeps on doing like it connects then straight away removes any ideas? Thanks

@LordManhattan any idea what the maximum gig you can have for external usb storage as tried my 16gig micro sd in adapter and it works just thinking 16gig may be the maximum?
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk
The biggest MicroSD card supported is 64GB. I'm not sure what the biggest MemoryStick or external HDD it can handle.

My old galaxy note connected to my 2tb external drive. (own power supply)
Assuming it would also work for the ultra. Haven't tried.
Maybe it needs more power than what the other cable is providing. Not an expert on OTG's unfortunately..

I no the biggest micro sd card is 64 gig as it said that when I read up on phone couple of months back so that's fine. Im not sure if it's the phone, usb adapter, sd card or which ever what is causing the problem. I've been told Sony phones are funny trying a micro sd 32gig as a usb storage device. But the adapter works because it reads my 16gig micro sd card through same adapter in my xzu. And then xzu accepts 32gig sd card in phone micro sd card slot. And also my HTC one reads the 32gig sd card through usb adapter yet my xzu does not. I tried it a local pc mobile etc shop today. Tried it on a demo display xz1 did same thing. Yet tried it on a workers same xz1 and it worked fine. So stumped me there. I thought it may be because my phone is rooted and deodexed. 257 rom with recovery. bootloader unlocked. So I used flashtool to flash ftf . 532 which still does the same thing. And most likely I've lost my recovery as.it has flashed stock kernel. Now I'm wondering if I try locking bootloader again. Or even go completely back to stock and maybe how I would. And maybe send off to Sony. But then one thing if they realise I unlocked my phone and say I need to pay for the service of repair can I just request my phone back in a working state? @hamdogg what would you take on that be and do you finally have your phone back? Happy Xmas

I'd try going completely stock. Locking bootloader. If you've done that Sony won't be able to tell if you've done anything. But email them
Before you send it in, as I'm certain it would be a software issue

I spoke to Sony last night about it it should work and they said try to connect phone to pc companion which I've never tried. When you say go completely stock is that just a case of flashing a ftf file. I'll lock bootloaDer give it a try that way I think. I did think it was software related but God knows

Locked bootloader!?
Perhaps try a different branded card. my mate bought over my movie drive, and it works fine. But like I said it's powered. So that may be the issue. What branded otg cable have you got?
I looking boot loader yeah no change why should I have not? I've got a 16 gig sd card which works fine same way. It's only 32 gig pretty much a usb stick. Have you never tried usb otg cable with a say 16gig usb memory stick or something like that. It's good for on the go7 storage etc. But t hen the same sd card otg cable and adapter work fine in my HTC one and pc must be the fact that my xzu just doesn't like it. So strange though. I've try my 500gig WD passport hardrive it sees that just it's formatted in ex fat i think not fat 32.

lol.. fair enough!
If you already have a backup of the TApartition then don't worry about doing another one. It wont every change.. wont ever update.
But yes, unlockbootloader, flash the 290 FTF, then the modified kernel with duel recovery... then you can root...

I have a problem
I bought 3 weeks ago an Optimus Lg One in Spain with Movistar.
Android 2.2
Software: LG-P500-V10b
I was very happy with the phone, until in two weeks I have been off suddenly and I had to remove the battery to fire you.
Any ideas?
Thank you

Dude, I don't understand anything... Are you using Google Translate?
Until in 2 weeks wat??
It might be some app that may cause that like a call recorder or full screen caller id. So be appropriate.

Just format the phone with KDZ and use open europe room with froyo 2.2.2.
Worked for me after bricking the phone with LG software crap.
Dude, kdz is dangerous, it should be used as a last resort. Try master reset first.

I read online that can be for the microSD card that comes with the phone.
I thought LG software update version v10B to the new version V10r.

- the phone DOES turn off when NOT wanted
or
- you CANNOT turn off the phone when it IS wanted?
aaa .. jjaja. Sorry, sorry.
The problem is that the phone is turned off suddenly 3 times. To switch I have to remove the battery and putting it back.

I recommend for you update the firmware version V10b to V10r?
I've also noticed since I removed the sd card the phone is not turned off.
If you are using the original SD card supplied with the phone, those are pure junk... Would highly recommend replacing it with something decent in any case.
As for the ROM upgrade - yeah some SD card issues have been sorted out this way, worth a try.

Maybe fault in phone hardware...

Do as I do. Try to spend a few days without the sd card in the phone, if you do not have that problem, it can be on the card.
You can also upgrade to the latest firmware from LG
I decided to get a new larger microsd and it just came in.
Can I just mount this on one of my Linux boxes and copy everything over from the 16GB to 32GB one or is there something special which the Note does with it?
I have SD and USB adaptors so I can actually mount both devices at the same time.
I don't see why not

Well... the 16GB card flaked out upon insertion into SD adaptor and then into Linux box (write lock switch in place). Didn't look any better in USB adaptor on Windows. Says unformatted even when back in the phone.
So everything is fubared.
Not sure what component to throw away either.
Knew I should have manually copied the files while the card was still operational in the machine...
The key to backups is redundancy. If it's important you need more than a single backup.

The card was operating fine in the machine but I had seen some issues recording video and DragonBox+ didn't want to update itself. But it wouldn't update itself on either SD or internal, so I thought it was something else. So I ordered another card.
I actually found this card in the park in an adaptor last year and was surprised it even worked. I went to the trouble to save off the previous person's data in the hope of being able to return it to it's owner, but couldn't fine any identifying name address information.
The photos and video should all be synced to Google+ - I'm more annoyed about having to go and remove all the apps and re-install because you can't just refresh the install over the missing files on the SD.

I was amazed today to find that the new microsd seems to have all the files on it (11GB worth of files)! A friend thinks that the backup feature restored all the data overnight.
Oddly, ES File Explorer seems to indicate that the card only has 16GB, though. So I'll have to do some more digging tonight...
Hi guys
I know about the SanDisk Micro-SD card problem with Samsung Galaxy S3's and I happen to be one of the victims.
My SanDisk Micro-SD 32gb Ultra has had problems in the past. It sometimes says blank sd card but it eventually works again. At one point it said sd card damaged but the card still worked. Up until yesterday it hasn't stopped working for a while but now my phone says blank sd card. I tried putting it into a windows computer but it cannot be detected. When using a usb adapter it just shows a device in drive "?:" and can't do anything with it and when using a micro sd to sd card reader it doesn't show at all. In Mac the micro sd to sd card reader is detectable and shows the size of 32.1 MB and is called "Apple SDXC Reader Media". The micro sd card itself is not detectable it seems. I have tried many device recovery software but none of them work. They all seem to just be scanning the card reader and not the micro sd itself.
Does anyone know how I can recover the Micro-SD card?
It is quite important because I have my school laptop data backed up on it (which was just handed in for a system upgrade and being wiped) and also my phone pictures, videos and other stuff.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

It may be recoverable by a specialist company, But i believe the going rate is approx £900. My first step would be to try sticking it in the freezer for at least 8 hours (but as long as you can manage the longer the better) then try it in your phone, if this works back up all the data and RMA the card to SanDisk. Let this be a lesson to us all that all data on our cards should be backed up regularly, I understand you werent expecting the card to fail but had you lost your phone the result would have been the same.
I doubt you will be able to recovery the data, formatting the card with the sd formatting tool might make the card useable again but I doubt it. When I've had cards corrupt more than once it is best to throw them away and get a different make.
You can try looking for a specialist data recovery expert, locally or on the web - if the data is very valuable to you.

First of all I don't have £900 to throw around, besides the fact it totally isn't worth £900 to get it fixed.
Second, before I start chucking my SD card in the freezer what exactly does freezing it do and how will it help it? You sure it won't just destroy it for good? I can leave it in the freezer for as long as needed as I can't exactly use the card in the mean time.
Thanks for the reply though
Hope I can get it to work
Freezing is a method that may give a brief recovery on some hard disc failures .
Note hard disc never heard of freezing ram or why it could work .

Not a lot.Contact retailer, or SanDisk direct for a replacement card and chalk it down to experience.
This is a known issue with sandisk at the moment. They are replacing cards when they die.
As for data, please look into foldersync for future. Sync data to cloud or computer

Ok then I'll just have to get it replaced.
A thought just occurred to me though.
Before I had my school laptop backed up on my micro-sd card I had it backed up on a usb. Because it was only an 8gb usb I transfered it to my micro sd because it took up too much space. I've heard of software that can recover deleted files from devices. Would it be possible to recover the deleted backup on my usb? The backup in total would have been about 1 - 2gb. If so, what free program could I use to recover it?
Thanks in advance
Possibly. As an IT support engineer, I don't want to get your hopes up though.
Things like NTFS get back may work but most if them are not free.
I took Handy recovery 1 (free version) from a bootable cd tool once, you could try that and may recover a small amount of data but its always safest to assume it gone.
The more you use the usb device, the less chance you have of recovery

Think they would have something to fix the card or recover the data?
It depends on the state.
The media has a File System. This could be FAT32, NTFS, exFAT etc. Essentially (without going technical) imagine these file systems as a database table. When you add a file to the media, an entry is written to the table to identify the exact location of the file on the media. That way, when an operating system views the card and the user accesses a file, the table tells the OS where to look for the file.
Typically with these file systems, when you delete the file, the file remains. Only the Table entry is removed. The OS can no longer locate the file. the OS is shown the free space as per what the table says - not what is really the truth.
So once a file is deleted, 3rd party applications can scan the media and find the files (without using the table).
Of course there is a problem in that any space that the table shows as unallocated (you deleted the file), new files will overwrite the old files. That is when the data becomes unrecoverable.
So yes, it's possible that even if the formatted filesystem is damaged, the data on the media can be recovered. But if you added new files since, then the chances are the unreferenced data has been actually overwritten. In this case, it is gone.

What file system are you taking about here? The damaged file system (micro-sd card) can't have new files added to it as it is inaccessible. It also has not been formatted since the problem. The usb with the deleted files is not damaged and not formatted but I have put new files on it since. Sounds like you're combining the two different devices. Sorry if this is a bit confusing.

First off, this happened when I got the phone when it was fully stock.
Now it's rooted, unlocked bootloader, s-off running carbon aosp.
Randomly my phone will shut down/off and will NOT power back on until I plug it into a charger (house charger, car charger sometimes works).
I;ve tried getting into recovery when it does this and it does nothing at all.
It's a PITA like today I was riding my mountain bike on trails miles away from my car and I was supposed to give my buddy a ride to work and my chain decided to snap (and of course I forgot my multi tool in my garage) so I had to walk back and had no way to call him and let him know.
I've read it's happened to other people and they had their phones replaced and it still happened, is this that common? what can it be
There is some instability with the new 3.4 kernel on certain AOSP ROM's from what I've read (not sure if Carbon is one of them). First thing I would do would be to flash a stable Sense ROM and see if the problem persists. If so, you may have a hardware issue. At that point you can take it in to Sprint and let them look at it. If you're concerned about the phone being rooted & S-off you can run Viperboy's RUU tool, which will restore your phone to totally stock condition.

Do you think it could be a SD card issue? My card is a few years old. I took my catf out and put it in I guess only half way and the phone shut off and did the same thing. I put it back in and un mounted it and so far its fine. I formatted it before switching from my epic 4g touch.

It's possible I suppose. I've seen people post before about issues with their cards. Try a different one and see.

Haven't had a chance to buy a new SD card, but I removed mine and have not had a reboot since.

the card is oldddd. i formatted it twice via my pc.
I'm backing it up to my pc and then buying a new card, 16gb's are $15-20 nowadays lol this one is like a class 2 or some low one, it's back when they were $30-35 a card. Thinking of a Sony or PNY class 10 at Fry's it's like $15-20 the sony is supposed to be up to 40mb/s

Similar problem with random reboots
I was on vacation and in the middle of the trip my phone just started going insane by rebooting on its own. Most of the time it would only get half way though the boot screen then shut off again. It varied how far through the bootscreen it would last then shut off. Occasionally the phone actually made it through the entire boot process, once i was at my home screen it would pop up the power menu and ask if i wanted to power off, reboot, or airplane mode. Then the three hard buttons at the bottom of the phone would flash and then it would shut off. This happened all through vacation. Also, the phone did not always recognize a charge, however, sometimes it did. Once I got home the problem stopped and the phone is not having the random reboots. I went to Gulf Shores, Alabama if your curious..
However now my sd card will not mount to internal storage and I cannot take pictures, use spotify, watch videos i have saved, etc. When I try to pull up these apps, the phone says no external storage available. The thing is, if I go to file manager, I can see the sd card and all of the files, its just when i try to open them from file manager, it loads the gallery app and then it tells me no external storage.
When I go to setting>storage, the option to mount sd card in the sd card spot works. But when I try to mount sd to the internal storage, it does not work. Im seriously confused as I did not download any new apps, or download anything at least within a week prior to going on vacation.
Im running..
CM10
S-On
Hboot 1.15.000
OpenDSP-v25.1.0.32.0405
eMMC-boot
If Im in the fastboot menu, and I click bootloader, it says
SD checking..
Loading [PJ75DIAG.zip]
No Image!
I have done a factory reset and the problem still persists.
Any help would be great.
anyone have recommendations?

If you can, backup your sd internal and external, boot into recovery and mount as usb, then format both...

thanks for response, sorry for being late to the party.
I cannot mount as usb. the loading circle just spins. when i try to do it in TWRP, it wont let me either.
also when i go to wipe cache or whatever else, it said failed to mount sd card in the console log and it wont let me wipe anything.
when i go to storage in settings, the problem seems like it is with internal storage. under internal storage, it says "mount sd card", when i do this, i get a notification saying preparing sd card but then it goes away after about 2 seconds. then the internal storage area says "mount sd card" again.
I am willing to wipe everything because I got all my photos off the sd card so im okay with wiping it all and starting over. i already did a factory reset but it didnt help. unfortunately i cant wipe cache and other things so i dont know what to do. thanks for your help!

Hey there, for a while there I had the 4.1.2 OS and everything was just fine.
that untill I started upgreading my OS.
when I upgreaded to a stock 4.2.2 everything was OK on my device except the music who kept skipping like a scratched CD...
I tried many different OS (stock and custom) with no luck.
I thought when i'll upgrage to the 4.3 this problem will be solved, but man I was wrong...
I tried fomatting the SD card, removing it and changing it, with no luck so far.
haven't tried downgrading to 4.1.2 only because I believe there should be a solution for this.
also something that might related, but my device somehow ruined my SD card in a way that is no longer writeable and there's no way to format it from the device or from different forms with my PC and I had a DanDisk Ultra 64GB Micro SDCX which I had for only few months.
what can I do? I looked for solutions all over the internet and only found the "format/remount your SD card" which clearly dosn't work for me.
thatnks in advanced!
If the card won't format using the sd tool on pc then it is faulty, contact the seller for warranty replacement.

thanks for the reply about my SD card, but I already knew that and its not the issue here.
im using a different SD card which works, and the problem is somewhere in my device.
low quality sd cards sometimes make this kind of problems. i've almost same issue with 64 gb chine based no brand card.

are you saying that my SanDisk SD card is a low quality brand...?
and why do people seem to insist to focus on what's obviosly not the the matter.
I don't care about my faulty SD card, its my GS3 that dosn't function correctly that butters me...
