The question is which otterbox case is the best for the atrix? I want a case and wanna know which is the best before I buy it. I've seen alot of posts on this but I have never seen a poll so I made one. If you dont like otterbox then please post what case you prefer and why? Thanks!
Wtf? Q&A section my boy.
Defender is bulky as hell but I'll throw it at the wall if you ask me too.

I know I'm a dip**** and definetly know better! I am now going to kick my own ass! Mod please move this to q and a or accessories section. thanks! As soon as I seen this post in development I was like wtf I seriously thought I was in accessories section! I can't believe I just did this! Sorry folks!
First off wrong section.
Right now I have the defender and I love it for the most part. I have had the commuter (I hope I am using the right names) and it was good but the silicone got too loose and they sent me the next one up which happens to be the best one they offer. Unfortunately im going to have to get them to send me another silicone part because this one is getting very bad as well. Great case but will need to get used to the warranty process unfortunately.
Oh and fyi I got the first otterbox in July.
Of course you know this is in the wrong section but I think I have to say that before I can reply lol. I am very happy with my Commuter case + Skinomi Techskin screen protector. Yes the rubber section does stretch a bit over time, but nothing too bad, not bad enough to make me want a dif one. And I believe this stretching is due to me removing the case now and then (battery pull or whatever).. I have a buddy with the Defender on his Atrix and he likes it as well. The defender has the hard plastic screen cover/ beltclip that can also be used as a kickstand. The defender is substantially bigger than the Commuter so do not plan on carrying the Defender in your pocket like I do with my Commuter, you will have to clip it hold it or bag it.
I started with the defender, and although I enjoyed tossing it around without worrying about damage, it was wayyy to big for my pocket. After a month I exchanged it for the commuter and I do not regret me decision. The case is fairly slim but sturdy, the back is pretty stylish and it gives the phone a nice weight when holding it.
I had the Defender, I returned it. I had a defender case for my iphone 3gs many moons ago and loved it, but on the atrix there are a few things that annoy me.
1. The screen protector is a nice idea, but as with the 3gs version, it can be annoying if you dislike screen bubbles like many do. I've tried a lot of different things to get rid of them, most work well for a few days, then a bubble appears.
2. Bulky. When the screen is 3.5", a little extra bulk doesn't bother me. When it's a 4.0" screen, it's a little more bothersome.
3. Soft edge of case is loose around the front, often creating a gap.
4. One of the things that annoys me the most is: there's a cover over the hdmi/usb port. It wouldn't be a problem if I had nails, but I tend to keep mine trimmed making it very annoying to open the cover and gain access to the ports.
All of that said, it is still the most protective case I've seen. If you're someone who regularly abuses it, it could be a good choice. On the other hand, if you're someone like me who never drops their phone onto a hard surface, it's a bit much.
Durability...survivability..hands down...the defender is the best..
I don't carry my phone in my pocket..I carry it on my belt and with my job of being in a large hospital's facilities maintenance job...I need something that can stand up to abuse..
What it's not is something that fits in a shirt pocket..suit pants..or suit coat well...
The case is a rugged as what you can get and still be small enough to hold and use properly...The screen protector works well with it..and allows good touch capabilities with the phone...The access ports are good..and the controls are easily worked..
The holder is adjustable and holds the phone well against your side..It locks the phone in well enough you don't have to worry about accidentally having it pop out with jumping hard..or banging it against something..
Which is best...for you...will entirely depend on what you want and need a protective case for..
I for one would rather be not as stylish and not worry about my investment getting damaged...I can't say how you are about these things...
I got mine at the At&T store the day I bought my phone...
Mac
I had the Defender, but like naxir I didn't like the lose silicone around the edges. Got the Ballistic HC case and so far love it. You can also use it without the outer silicone bumper to make it slightly more pocket friendly. Without the outer bumper you don't have to worry about the port covers as they are part of it. I've never even seen the other Otterbox cases for the Atrix, so I can't comment on them.
I have the Commuter. Great case, great quality, a bit less bulky than the Defender, but offers more than enough protection. I suggest you buy a screen shield, too.
You can't go wrong with a TPU case.
Man this phone is so nice and sleek, I'm not sure if I want to put a case on it or not.
Love this phone compared to my evo 4g. Blows it out of the water. Decent battery life as well.
What are your thoughts on cases?
I had started a seidio active vs otterbox commuter thread but didn't get much love. Maybe people are using other cases I haven't thought of. All I am using is a leather pouch.
ideas, thoughts?
I'm using a Commuter that I modified slightly for the car dock. I always second-guess the expensive Otterbox cases but last week the Photon took a trip to the floor and nearly bounced back into my hand. That settled that one.
One from the mall. Black rubberized and i'm happy. I believe its cellairis or something like that

One thing I don't like so far is it is a little difficult to push power button. I find myself missing it from time to time. I think the otterbox would help with that but I'm not sure if I wanna give up the lightweight and sleek feel of it.
Yeah, sleek and Otterbox don't go together. I prefer caseless but I know it only takes one drop to all but stop my life. I'm finding myself waaaay too reliant on this little device.
Amazon had/has the Commuter for $22, which I think is worth it.
How much bulk does it add?

The commuter is roughly 5/8" thick by 2 3/4" wide by 5 1/4" tall.
The phone is roughly 1/2" by 2 5/8" by 5" respectively.
The case is actually a good hand-grip size.
Using the Seidio Active. So far I am liking it. Fits good and nice balance for me between function and protection.
Thanks for that.

I got mine at the sprint store for 20
I first bought my wife this case for her Evo and liked it so much that I got one for my mopho! Its thin, feels like it part of the phone and yet it can take some drops.

I currently have 2 otterbox cases. 1 defender series and 1 commuter series. Both have their uses. I mainly use the defender for work so I can easily clip my phone into the holster and not leave it laying around in a rush to go do something. It's also amazing for those unfortunate occasions where the phone leaves your hand and makes a 3 or 4 ft dive to the ground. Access to every button and port is also amazing with this case. power/wake button is very easy to press, no problems at all. same with volume rocker and camera buttons. I love the port covers on this case b/c they are extremely durable and long lasting. However, my favoite benefit of the defender case is how easily it can be removed... I know you're thinking "wtf, this guy is an idiot!" Well the reason I say that is b/c i actually sell cellphones for a living and offering otterbox cases is second nature. having installed and removed just about every case they make, many of the other defenders are difficult to remove with the little clips on the internal plastic part of the case which is snug on the phone. The photon defender is almost effortless if you like to trade out ur cases on occassion it is a major benefit
I use the commuter series when not at work b/c I don't typically liek to wear my phone on my hip if I have an available pocket... just my personal preference. Commuter is definetly much less bulk but I also don't like the way that it's designed as far as installing/removing from the phone. It's a bit of a pain. Also, unfortunatly the part of the case that makes it grip in your hand makes it difficult to insert/remove from a normal pocket.
I have decided that I'm going to try out one of the tpu cases from amazon.com for a non work alternative and we'll see how that goes.
Let me know if you wanna sell the commuter.

I like the look of that case but the power button is a little tough to press so if I do get one I think I want one with something that goes over the power button.
I currently have Ghost Armour, It's more of a scratch resistance film, not a protective cover. I do not like anything that adds bulk personally. With that said, in the last 5 years, I have owned a AT&T Tilt, AT&T Fuze, Sprint Evo 4G, and now Photon. I dropped the Fuze once. I treat my phones like a 2 month old baby!. I have special mouse pads at work, living room, bed room, ect. To be honest, I have sold ALL of my phones for more that I paid for them in the first place! David

ive been looking around on amazon and ebay for a holster perferably a horizontal one. and i was just wondering does any one have one? and if so what kind? and would you recommend it? im not sure why but ever sence ive had blackberrys (that came with the holster) ive always liked carrying my phone in a holster. any good ones out? they all seem kind of universal now, so i want one with a tight fit.
thanks for any help guys =)
The otterbox defender series is nice but it depends on what you want.
Pros
Nice cover with built in screen protector
Rubberize skin helps with slipping out of hand and protects from damage from dropping.
Holster has 360 degree swivle
Good customer service
best protecting case on the market
company covers phone deductible on damages
Cons,
Adds bulk (once used to it this becomes no big deal)
Rubberized outer shell may snag coming in and out of pockets. (may cause missed calls but your phone shouldnt fall out accidently)
I have broken the holster broke the thumb off ( I was drunk dont ask how. The customer service sent me out 2 replacement holsters after calling them)
The holster is nice but can have a propensity to catch things when walking in tight proximities.. (doesnt help I am a large guy)
Recap,
If you work construction then getting an otterbox will help keep your device longer in harsh environments.

ill look into it. the only issue i have with that is that it is huge. i was hopping that i could get one with no case. like a leather one or something?
thanks for the help man i appreciate it
Before I got the defender, I bought one from the sprint store kind of a bare bones cover, the holster did have a swivel. THe cover itself didnt offer much in protection and same time didnt have any bulk..
The only downside with the holster was you needed to fully slide the phone out to retrieve and answer any calls. Unlike the holster for the otterbox it is a quick snap out.
I will see about a link for that case for you. Chances are good you can go to a sprint store and they would have one on hand you can checkout before buying..
http://shop2.sprint.com/NASApp/onli...ryID=CHM4701R&topPageNumber=0&subPageNumber=0
Here is a link to the cover I used before the otterbox..
Also have this through sprint, no case but simply a holster.
http://shop2.sprint.com/NASApp/onli...ID=CCU2588Q_C&topPageNumber=0&subPageNumber=0
THis one looks pretty good too but I cannot speak for it since I havent used one personally.

ok sounds good man, thanks. if you find the link ill sure look at it =)
edit: oh i see you have posted them now =) looking at them right now.
edit 2: ok after looking at them i think i like the leather one the most. i may go look at them soon, i cant today because i have 7 inches of snow and a icey driveway, uphill. haha also i may find simular ones on amazon, as sprint is always so expensive! this one doesnt look to bad but im not sure what ill get just yet.http://www.amazon.com/Horizontal-Re..._32?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1326927546&sr=1-32

really? myns the opposite. well actually i have my keys on a karabeaner so other than the keys part.
naked the phone seems to do just fine and fits fine in my slacks pockets with out any bulging. unless your doing something really active, id vote to just go for the pocket, if you have seen the videos the screen is really hard to scratch.

weird. myn has little ones all over on it, i keep it alone in my pocket always.
The otterbox defender and commuter are both excellent cases IMHO. They're a bit on the pricey side but well worth getting if you want to protect your screen/camera (and basically everything else)
Looks like Otterbox just needs a phone to put in their just posted case.
Can't wait!
Saw one at Radio Shack 2 days ago and bought it. Waiting for the phone to go along with it. Me thinks it will be very soon, brand new Rezounds retail are down $100.00 on Ebay from just a couple of days ago.

Do you guys find it to big? I've been looking at this or the Ballistic case but they both seem to make the phone in to a brick.
The Commuter seems like the perfect size to me. I'll take some picture in a bit so you can see.

Here are some pictures of it, and ones comparing it to my mom's Razr with a Case-mate case on it in my previous post.
I've commented on the otterbox defender series case before. I've got one on my Dinc. Yes the defender series will bulk it up, with the outer hardshell and clip but guess it depends on your lifestyle. I'm a mechanic so I need something that can withstand getting dropped or inadvertantly laid on, etc.
The defender is like a brick **** house, it just doesn't get any better protection wise. The nice thing about it, is if I take the phone all the way out to just it's core size without all the protection, and wipe it down, you wouldn't know this phone was not brand new, it's mint condition, thanks to the otterbox, and it has been dropped on the otterbox at least 5 times.
The commuter series would be a lot smaller profile if that's what you are looking for....
I'm glad to see OB has their act together on this and released a case for it, it actually took them a while to release one for the og Dinc..

I bought the Commuter, and the fit was horrible. The hard plastic outer shell didn't securely clamp to the soft rubber inner cover, and that inner cover did not fit the phone securely. The port covers didn't lay flat either. I bought an incipio silicrylic case and it fits much better.
Wow, I really like that Incipio case, holy cow. You have anything that can take pictures of it on the phone? Would really like to see some real world pics. How soft is the inside layer? Would it be ok sliding in and out of a pocket or would it "grab" or rip over time?
It doesn't look any different than from the website. Slides into and out of pockets just fine, and I don't think it will wear over time. The included screen protector is way better than the one OtterBox packages with their case, it covers the entire front glass panel.

I agree! I just got my Otterbox case in on Saturday and the fit is really bad. I have a hard time pushing the power and volume button, the rubber over top of the front camera does not lay flat, the bottom end below the soft keys does not hug the phone(kind of protrudes out), the screen protector does not cover the whole screen, and the headphones port cover does fit very well into the hard shell.
I'm very disappointed in this case and will try and return it.
I'm not a big fan of otterbox because it's too big for me. :silly: But, if I don't find that many cases, I might have to buy this one. haha

boy they must have given you the wrong one, mine is nothing like you discribe
I haven't used an otterbox on the Inc4, but we've got a fleet of iPhones for our salesmen at work. Every single one is in an otterbox Defender series, and trust me when i say our salesmen are extremely hard on phones. These cases have probably saved us hundreds of dollars no question.
The point of my post however is if you get one that doesn't fit quite right though i would ask for a replacement. When i was setting up all the phones and putting them into there cases i did run into a few that just didn't sit right. Looked like a manufacturing defect to me, but i was able to get replacements. That might be the issue your running into.
Void4ever
Edit: The Defender series WILL absolutely bulk up the phone though, but if you need the protection you'll find none better. I have no exp with the Commuters personally, but from the pics the size looks good.

Naaa bud, I don't have the Inc4g yet, I've got my original Dinc sealed up in the defender series.
To the latest posters, as I mentioned in my post earlier as well, I have no experience with the commuter series OB but I did have two defender series OB's that cracked a small portion of the clip/case. I think it's a weak link in the design of the case and the snapping/unsnapping of the phone in/out of the case over time that caused this. But OB themselves, have been absolutely stellar to deal with, they looked up my purchase date, no questions, shipped out new cases to me each time.
I'd call em up tell em, and maybe they sent the wrong case, maybe you got a design flaw on yours, who knows but if some of the folks using the commuter case have posted awesome fit and look, that just don't jibe with what your reaction is to your case...
I went to radio shack to try out the otterbox commuter and the defender.
The commuter was unimpressive. The fit was loose even after much working of the acrylic over the silicone to have it get into the right place. The top part that hangs over the front facing camera is kind of flappy and I can see a lot of dust getting in there. The screen protector doesn't cover up under the loose area either. The bottom part of the case barely hangs on to the bottom of the phone, not tight at all.
The defender was completely opposite, the defender was a great fit. It felt sturdy, durable and overall just comfortable (if you like the additional bulk added). The screen protector was flush with the screen and responsive. Not nearly as nice feeling as a skinomi, but still nice.
I know this is an older post but........ I just got the defender series and it really doesn't bulk up the phone that much - frankly it is pretty small in you hand without a case. Even with this case on it still fits into the side pocket of a pair of carhartts. It is worth the money.
Not a discussion about cases or anything, just wondering how everyone carries their Note 3 since it's such a bigger phone. Coming from the S4 I find the added wight and size almost too big for my pockets. During the week I have to use a belt clip holster as I'm a field tech for copiers and find it too large for my slacks. Feels funny to have such a large phone on belt clip but I have no choice. The S4 fit nicely, with no case, in my slacks front pockets.

I have the Zerolemon 10k battery & case with holster and it fits in my front pocket with no issue. I will admit when sitting down it is a little uncomfortable but standing up is no issue. When sitting down I usually rotate the clip 90° and clip it to my pocket.

Just opened the Otter Box on my retired Evo LTE to recycle the micro SD card...
No surprise, the device is absolutely mint!

Love that case also, nice and secure on the belt clip. But how do you get the case off the holster with one hand? Dose that top clip loosen up a bit after time? One reason I like the Seidio holsters. Currently using the Spigen bounce case and the Seidio holster for the Dilex case, which I also have also but the rubber is too soft.
Still working on the one hand release, get it about every 3rd time.

That's the one reason I didn't get one. .. Too many reviews with people dating that even with 2 hands, it can be challenging.

Honestly, I was an HTC fanatic and coming from the EVO 4G LTE to the Note 3 I must say wow!
The Note3 is big, but it feels secure unlike the EVO. The screen hasn't gotten Lil swirly marks like HTC's "gorilla glass". That's with using the Spen just begging to scratch the screen. I've had no trade embargo negative features from pending lawsuits. Also, no dead pixels or Google wallet breaking from factory resets. 3gb of RAM! This is multitasking with no custom tweaks enabled after months of tedious work.
Sorry about the rant. I wanted to see if this phone could hold up to a week or so of no case. I haven't dropped it yet, but despite being in pockets and etc. there are no screen scratches or blemishes of any kind. HTC pushes build quality yet this phone is so much better.
Anyways, I spent too much to get a case atm. Debating on otterbox but naked for now. Thanks for maybe reading my first post in a long while. U get thirsty out there in the desert looking for old jewels.
I use the Triton Kraken Case for mine. Was a HUGE Otterbox fan for a long time...well that's the past now. Best case ever!!

I've been thinking about getting the Kraken too. I particularly like that they have the window mount that just snaps onto the back and then onto the ball of the window mount. Perfect for in the car either running Nav, or streaming music..etc.
I ordered the i-Blason case from Amazon for my Note 3. It's silicone & a hard shell both at once. Soft silicone wrapped around the phone while the hard outer shell grips around the back like the facehugger from Aliens...from all sides.
It comes with a swivel clip belt holster that faces the screen so only the back is exposed to the world, but since the silicone is very soft & flexible, I don't use it because it's a pain to insert & remove in a hurry when the phone is ringing. I suppose it'd be all right if I had a bluetooth headset. But...no matter!
I carry it in my breast pocket in my jacket, currently. But when it gets warmer, I suppose I'll buy a bluetooth headset & put it in it's belt holster & clip that big 'ol monster to my waist.

Being I'm on the road all day, I use it everyday! The window mount is extremely well built too! Only thing that is annoying is you have to unclip the kickstand to use the window mount...but that's it. Otterbox drove me crazy with the rubber always stretching and deforming. They will replace it, but just drove me nuts. The Kraken, the rubber jacket is inside the case. Plus unlike the Otterbox, I really think I could drop my phone off a building and it would still be 100%. SOLID freaking case! It's worth every penny.
I use the Spigen Neo Hybrid case. It fits comfortably in my front suit jacket pocket.
Owned my N3 for a week and I only have it in my pocket which may change upon getting the zerolemon 10k mAh battery and I might use the clip with it. Probably not, but maybe lol. Fits perfectly into my pocket w/ no excess popping out.
I wear mine on a big gold chain ala FLAV O' FLAV!!! BOYYYEEE. Lol. Couldn't resist.
