DNA Speaker (by ear) NOT working at ALL! Please HELP!! - HTC Droid DNA

Hello,
Today at the beginning of the day I noticed that when I called somebody (first phone call of the day) my phone had NO speaker volume. I was trying to talk to them and I could not hear them at all. They however, could totally hear me. Speaker phone does work, and a headset does work. So in a nutshell...
1. Ear speaker does not work under any circumstances it seems to me.
2. The external speakerphone speaker (youtube speaker, etc) DOES work.
3. If you plug an external headset into it (like the apple headphones with a mic attached) it DOES work, I can hear them and they can hear me.
4. There is nothing that I can see in the headphone jack, and no headphone icon on the notification bar.
5. I have tried restarting the phone and clearing dalvik and other caches.
6. I am running the NOS M7 v 3.0.7 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2184706
7. To my knowledge it has had no physical damage to cause the issue.
8. SCREENSHOTS attached of pertinent phone information.
This just started today and have no idea what would have caused it, it was working fine less than 24 hours ago. I am going to try to install a different ROM or factory reset to maybe fix the issue, but it does not seem to me to be a software issue.
IF ANYBODY has ANY idea what this could be, or has had this issue and fixed it, PLEASE let me know. Right now I am relegated to using my headset or speaker phone. I am open to trying anything, but am reluctant to get it replaced because I HAVE to be s-off and unlocked, if I get a phone that is totally up to date and can not crack it and make it s-off and install a custom ROM I will shoot myself, haha.
Thanks guys! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
P.S. I will provide any other knowledge or information that you guys ask for to troubleshoot this.

Rumrunner will work for new update. Try a different Rom. If problem persists it must be hardware issue.

The only, not so slight, issue with this is that my phone is rooted, S-Off, unlocked, and running a custom rom, and any refurb I get will most likely be patched to the point that I can not unlock it or S-Off it, and that is beyond important to me. Any other ideas that do not involve getting a different phone?

Your phone's hardware is broken. There is no fix short of you replacing the broken piece. Any refurb you get can be rooted.

[Q] Recovery with a broken track ball

Hey all,
Just a couple days ago, my track ball stopped working when I use it to scroll down. In recovery, you need to be able to scroll down to do anything. Is there a way to flash things and do nands without the track ball? I know there is Clockwork, but I don't trust it with the stories of bricking. If anything, all I need to do is be able to flash the flashback ROM so I can send it in and get a new phone.
Any remedies?
Thanks

It happened to me. I was trying to flashback to send it back...no trackball. I found that pushing on the phone with my thumb above the trackball enabled the trackball enough to flash the zip. Keep in mind I was sending the phone back to Verizon for the broken trackball, though, so I wasn't worried about breaking it further.

Thank you and thank you!
By the way, you probably should grab the recovery-RA-eris-v1.6.2-trackball-optional.img 1.7.1 version (it has all of the functionality of the "original" 1.6.2 Amon_RA; the first "trackball-not-required" version I built was based on the 1.6.2 source that actually omitted some of the menu options).
Cheers!
i have the trackball not working during recovery issue as well
I have found, and I am almost certain this will work for you, plugging your phone into your charger will get your trackball to work
If I don't have my cord to plug into the usb, I've used a paper clip to press against the top of the usb port towards the trackball and have found this to work as well
if you have any questions on the process please don't hesitate to contact me

Actually, most people find out about the problem, or it's more severe when a cord/charger is plugged in.

Does the problem worsen over time to the point at when it does it if it's not on the charger? Cuz mine's pretty bad on the charger.
I went through this as well. The various tricks to get it to work succeed on some phones and not others, but they're worth a try. In most cases the trackball will continue to deteriorate over time and mine got to the same point where I couldn't scroll down and therefore couldn't use RA to flash. But I needed to flash it back to stock so I could get a refurb from Verizon via my warranty. At that time, I don't think this RA that doesn't require a trackball was available. I asked about if there was and I couldn't find anything about it. Thought about trying to use the RA source and build a version myself but I just didn't have the time and lord knows, screwing that up might have really borked my phone for good, so I get it go. Now that RA without the trackball is out there, I'd use it if you can get that on your phone.
But there's another very easy solution. You can download ROM Manager from the market: ROM manager will let you flash ROMs without the trackball. It uses Clockwork Recovery for flashing and I was concerned at first about the stories of CR possibly bricking phones (in fact this not really a serious risk) or maybe making it harder to return the phone to unrooted stock or something else. But in fact, ROM manager uses Clockwork by only temporarily loading CR in memory, where you can use it to flash a ROM, and it does NOT replace RA! It leaves RA intact on your phone. If you reboot, RA is there. You can use ROM manager to flash any ROM and in my case I used it to flash the easy, return to stock zip that you can find here on the Eris forum. I brought it to the Verizon store and all I had to say was the trackball died and they traded me for a refurb.
BTW, this was a few months ago and there were several threads here with stories about people calling Verizon (not the stores) with tales of woe about their Eris and getting a free upgrade to Incredibles, Moto Droids, etc. if they were very nice about asking. This might have been a time when the inventory on the Eris was low. Anyway, I tried twice times and couldn't swing it - they only offered a refurb Eris. Found a local store with the Eris in stock and did it on the spot.
Now, if an Eris is out of warranty, then the best route is to replace the trackball. There are threads on XDA with all the step by step instructions you need. These are the same trackballs that are used in many of the Blackberrys and apparently those fail frequently and there are a LOT of options available on line for about $3-$5 via Amazon, etc. And hey, you can get them in kinds of whizzy colors ;-p
Hope this helps!
Good luck!

[Q] Bluetooth issue: Hardware or Software?

I've searched the forums and I've come across a few threads on this but nothing that seems to align with my situation. I've got an unlocked & rooted Atrix running CM7.1 (10/25 release) that I can't get my Bluetooth to turn on. Additionally; the headphone jack is not functioning. Also getting an error when I enable WiFi. I was running the Alien ROM before and they worked just fine was able to tether. Dunno if this is due to a software or hardware issue. I'm leaning more towards the hardware side tho; as I've tried several ROMs and still get the same result. Anyone else had a similar problem? I'm out of luck warranty-wise cuz I've unlocked. Trying to figure out the best approach to get BT working as I just got a BT enabled stereo (JVC) and I'd like to stream music using Google Music and use hands free. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!
Moto does not reject phone sent in for warranty just because you unlocked it. Use rsdlite to restore the phone, it will not relock it but the unlocked text will be gone. If you are new to rsdlite, ask for help, you can brick your phone if you do not know what you are doing.
Interesting; I was under the impression that once you unlocked that's it; the E-fuse is burnt and there is no going back. I'll do some research on this and see about rolling back to stock. Thanks for the help!

You can't relock it. You can only remove the text "unlocked" from the boot logo screen.
Also, ignore what matthew5025 said. Do not use RSDLite and SBF.
Follow instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009
I personally never use fruit cakes as
1. There is no Asiapacific build
2. I GUESS (correct me if I'm wrong) but the unlocked text will not be gone
3. I GUESS also that stock recovery will not be put back
Anyways, it is always good to get a second opinion, and I would suggest using fruit cakes to see if that's what you want.

[Q] Static during phone calls

Hey guys,
I have been hearing static noises during phone calls since a few days ago, and it's really bothering me....
So I have done some researches and concluded that this was a hardware problem.
When I blow sharp stream of air into the speaker, it temporarily resolves the problem but never permanently.
Before I contact AT&T for a replacement under warranty, I wanted to get some inputs from the xda community.
Is my conclusion feasible? Or anything else I should try?
thanks in advance
Have you tried flashing another modem, I had that problem with my captivate until i flashed another modem..
I have.
I've used kk6 and kh7 with this phone and have never experienced statics.

If you have the correct rom and modem installed, and blowing into the mic temporarily solves the issue, then it sounds like you have a hardware malfunction and needs to be replaced.
been running illuminate 1.7.2 for a while
I have been going back and forth between kk6 and kh7 recently.
I just switched to kk6, so I guess I will give it some time to become stable.
If that doesn't work out i guess i'm resorting to at&t.
Thanks for the replies guys!
very appreciated

I agree. The description screams "bad solder joint" to me. Return it to stock to be sure it's not a firmware problem - if the problem continues, execute a warranty exchange, which you will be ready for due to having already returned to stock.

I see. Will return to stock... and see how it goes.
Thanks again!
How did that go?
I have 2.3.5. (didn't flash), just have unrooted using CF. I hear static buzzing sound like you, but not all the time, but in 3/5 calls.
I'm not sure is it because sometimes I have low signal because of Tele2 (provider) or not, didn't have time to test it yet.
Will probably switch to some custom ROM these days and check it. if problem still persist, will flash normal, remove binary count and send back to repair it.

Mic suddenly stopped working.

Just want peoples input on this. The mic on my wife's Eris just stopped working recently. Not sure if its just dead or if it could be something else. I've tried flashing multiple roms (xtrsense, worksheds aosp gb, and something else I forget). On one from it worked the first call then nothing. On xtrsense it never worked. I don't want to just leave it at bad mic. Does anyone have suggestions as to other ways I can troubleshoot this problem? Any suggestions would be great. Thanx in advance.

Go back to stock RUU = much simpler to flash Flashback_21v2.

Also be aware that JCase's 1-click root app doesn't seem to be in the market anymore (at least it wasn't the last I checked). If you want to re-root later, but you can find a version in Scary Alien's alternate recovery thread here: http://androidforums.com/eris-all-t...2-custom-recovery-trackball-not-required.html or do this method: http://androidforums.com/eris-all-things-root/127861-universal-eris-root-dummies.html
Alright coo thanx for the input guys and the links

My mic went out too lol verizon let get rezound 3 months into my own conteact
iv had that happen before. the first time it happened to my eris, it was before it was rooted (i think) and i was trying to use voice search but it said "audio error". i then went to androsensor (an app that monitors all sensors, including microphone) and where it normally has the decibels, it said "unavailable" or something to that effect. i gave the mic a few good whacks, killed all tasks, cleared all cache, etc, and it worked fine. that leads me to believe the diaphragm in the mic was physically jammed. the second time was definantly after i rooted it, as it is happening to me right now. when someone calls me, i can hear them, but they cant hear me. im not sure where the problem lies, as on my old moterola rival, i had the same problem, but the voice recorder app worked, so the problem there was things just not talking to each other (no pun intended). i havent gotten around to debugging the problem, as my phone has much more critical issues than that, but if i find a fix, ill let you know.

[Q] Probable brick, unsure, please help!

I was given a htc DNA and it's been one headache after another. It had a cracked digitizer, s-off, eng hboot, unlocked boot loader and a custom recovery installed on it when it was given to me. Trying to make a long story short, I ended up having to replace the board with the sim card reader on it and immediately after putting the new board in the cameras quit working along with the speakers and microphone. I was able to get all but the cameras working, but then I bricked it, and here is how. I was attempting to return back to stock, relocked the boot loader, was attempting to use a ruu which wasn't working, so I decided to unlock my boot loader again. The story ends with me attempting the unlock with ez-unlock, and when I did it said successful and I was able to keep using the phone as normal, but after turning the phone off it wouldnt turn back on, and the only sign of life comes when I plug it into my computer. As soon as i connect it to my computer, htc sync manager opens up but says no phone connected, device manager will show the phone as my htc and android 1.0.. I've experienced similar signs of life from an htc vivid, but it's issues were due to a bad battery, so I am hoping for the best but expecting this to end with jtag. Can anybody help me out please, it would be great to not require jtag services, but it would be better yet if I could gain a better understanding of at least what went wrong. Thank you

Sadly no, I can't get it to boot at all. I also need to mention that the lights don't come on when it's plugged in either. I'm thrown for a loop by it all because my computers will still react to it if I hook it up to them with usb, but that's about all they will do. Why would sync manager open up when I plug it in, but then state that there is no device connected.
Ive seen where people have said to leave phone charging for 24 hours without trying to turn it on and it worked. I've also seen people run a calibration test on the battery but I forgot how to do it.

EZ-Unlock is an unsupported method by the DNA hardware. It will always cause a hard-brick. Which you have done. I did this to myself at one point, too. I tried EZ-Unlock and it hard-bricked my DNA. Call Verizon. Tell them that it just randomly started doing this. Don't mention root or anything. They'll replace it for free. That's what I did.
Sorry about that bud. Try to do some more research before modding your phone next time.

Can you get into the bootloader by holding power+volume down for any amount of time?
Have you let it sit on the charger over night?
Hold power down for at least 20 seconds to a minute?

Well thank you for your feedback, and assistance. I owe most everything I know about phones to XDA and it's members! Regarding my situation with the DNA, yup sure enough it is bricked. I figured it was, but have had similar reactions from a bad battery in the past, so.. Regarding the process of unlocking the boot loader, this is the first time I've ever directly seen anything regarding the cid. Not sure if maybe it has been part of the process in ways that I was unaware of in the past with other phones or if this is more device specific, but either way would anybody possibly know where I could find more in depth information regarding this and if there is anybody who is knowledgeable with this that wouldn't mind helping somebody out?
sorry for the run on sentences lol
oh, and thank you for the referral to Zarboz, I will definitely be getting in touch with him.
