So I didn't like MIUI. I thought of installing JellyBlast and I got Rafael.Baugis kernel 201303051129 and his AFP11-CWM. i flashed the CWM one , rebooted installed the kernel and then reboot. There's a problem it was a different CWM and I can't navigate it using Home, Power or Volume keys.
How do I fix this?

I have rooted my phone with odin and installe the kitchen pro app, but whe i try to install checkrom 6hd or any rom it fails at verification i successfully did all this a few months ago on a sgs2 before it was stolen, i now i seem to be hitting problem after problem...........
if you want to refer me to ''in in this thread'' please post the link because im struggling to find help, ive looked all over and navigating this site is far from easy.
I get the yellow triangle so i guessi rooted properly, ive tried 2 roms, neither will install :9 please help me............ delete this thread after if need be
again, please help
which kernel are you using.. download a custom kernel..like siya or neak.. and make sure its the correct version .. dat is if you are using GB rom then download a GB kernel. the try flashing the rom from recovery
1) Kitchen pro will work only after installing Checkrom,
2) flash another (CWM+Rooting) kerenel from ODIN like siyah,
link for GB Shiyah Kernel : http://gokhanmoral.desean.net/siyahkernel/v2.6/Siyah-v2.6.14.tar (make sure you are on GB version now, otherwise you have to select ICS siyah kernel)
and try to install Checkrom from CWM
I've done all that, I keep getting E:verification failed.... any help please?

Wait...so you flashed an I9000 kernel and it still booted? Maybe I will try investigating if we could just port kernels from the galaxy s phones.
But anyway..just boot into download mode and reflash one of the custom kernels for the 4.0.

I flashed STeVEs-3.0-EU kernel but it didn't fix my problem!!
I will post video and you can see the problem on my device.
I think a dev should make a sticky to bricks. They are coming up too often now.
Also if it booted, it's not bricked.

Why would you flash a i9000 kernel on a YP-G1 ? What kernel did you flash, we're going to need that kernel to see what happened!

The file which I prepared for my i9000,but when I' m going to flash my YP-G1 kernel,I selected the wrong file.
get odin, stock firmware, and flash the stock firmware with odin
I have the same problem since I've flashed a kernel for the Galaxy S.
My Galaxy player has not booted.
I have flashed Steves ROM and since that I have the same problems.
I've found so far no solution.
The flash of the stock firmware did not help.
I have also tested other ROMS.
Did you're player run 2.3 or 2.2 stock, because that would make a difference. If it ran 2.2 then therea you're problem isolated.
Infact I just noticed you said touch button, so are you sure its not US?

Thank you.
I'll try it.
EDIT: Hooray, it worked.
Yes in this case when flashing with odin 2.2.1 rom is better at resolving problems then 2.3.6.

how to root without home button? Alternative button?

Hi guys,
So my S2's home button is dead, and i really can't be bothered paying $250 just to repair the home button (screen need changing too). Ok, i read from the other thread that an USB jig is involved, but being a noob in rooting, i'd need some help here. I just need to root to back up my whole phone using titanium backup. How would i go about this? Sorry if this kinda questions have been asked before, but i seriously have no idea where to start.
P/S any suggestion to an alternative home button i can use? Say maybe using the power button or an app type?
Thanks:good:

Hi,
I also have a phone with a dead home button and i learned my way to handle it.
Try plugging in usb and holding volume down at the same time.
I don´t know why but this always got me into download mode.
Then flash any Cm9 version which is Odin compatible, next flash Siyah over Download mode and you´ve got a touch recovery.
My personal recommendation is Paranoid Android with touchbuttons in the tablet-statusbar.
You will get used to it.
Edit: The button remapper won´t help you getting into Download or Recovery.

ROM =/= kernel.
What's Siyah? Type of already rooted custom kernel.

To install cm10 you need root access, go check cfroot by chain fire. Gapps is basically your Google now etc. With a custom recovery, just flash the cm10 and Gapps and you'll be good to go.
Stock kernel is subjective with very little difference. All kernels work for me so it's not so much of an issue deciding which is better.
The best rom is the one you try for yourself. Rom comparisons are not allowed on xda
Latest stock will be depending on whether you want android version 4. 1.1 or 4.0.4
Wrong section btw, should be posted in the q&a

You can safely ignore that error.
CWM in the apps drawer is the UI interface of the CWM recovery (accessed by pressing the Vol Up+Home+Power when booting up). CWM recovery works without a hitch.

All options are there when you boot into recovery, it is just the app that is incompatible, meaning a couple of the options won't work directly from the app....you need to boot into recovery to do those things.....don't worry, it's all there.
I personally prefer the older recovery as it doesn't use the blob method of backing up. And I'm used to the old way!

[Q] Please Help! Galaxy S2 stuck at boot after CM10 Rom

Hi guys!
About 1 week ago everything worked well on my Galaxy SII GT-I9100 running cyanogenmod 10 rom android 4.1.2 . One day I wanted to check my calendar app. When I opened it suddenly the phone freezed and restarted. It was stuck on the boot up screen with 'Samsung galaxy S2 GT-I9100'. Then I tried to go into recovery mode and I couldn't, the phone just restarts it self and freezes on the boot up screen. After this I went into download mode and flashed the stock 4.0.4 and many other stock roms through odin just to see the phone starting up but it didn't.Till now I am searching for a solution and unluckily I didn't find any.
I am sorry if there are some similar threads out there but please help me. My warranty is void and I need your help guys.
Thanks you soo much and I hope you know a solution for my problem...
So can you start cwm ? Take out battery, wait three minutes, do cwm. This has always worked for me to get back into the game.

Yes I flashed a ton of Rom versions (Jelly bean leak, 4.0.4, 4.0.3, 2.3.5) through odin and the phone reacts all the same like I didn't flash anything on it. And on every firmware I flashed I couldn't get into any recovery mode...
The fact is that you must wipe /data from recovery whole going to a stock rom, otherwise your phone will pause at the logo. Flash Siyah kernel, check if you can boot into recovery and do a factory reset.

Edit: I can't post outside links because I'm new, but search for Galaxy S GT-I9000: how to fix boot to recovery with Volume up+Power? over on the Android Stack Exchange site.
I was stuck in the CyanogenMod boot screen and this saved me:
URL edited.
This bit did it:
"Another try might be: Power off your phone. Hold Power, Vol Up and Home Button. Wait for galaxyS logo then release Power button! For me that is the proper combination."
we should call this "the calendar of death".
But yeah, keep flashing & wiping till it's up and running.
