[Q] Fitbit Force with DNA? - HTC Droid DNA

I'm planning on purchasing a Fitbit Force and would like to be able to sync it with my DNA. Wondering if anyone has successfully done this yet? If I'm reading it correctly, it may require Bluetooth Low Energy support from the DNA, and that would only be available with a rom based off Android 4.3 or greater. If anyone has successfully done this, please let me know how you did it and what rom you are running. Thanks!

Got my Fitbit Force for Christmas. As soon as I can figure out the why Windows 8.1 won't recognize my DNA in bootloader mode, I plan on installing the latest CWM Touch recovery and installing CM 11 to see if the modified Fitbit app will work.

Win8 doesn't have the right drivers to see HTC devices. Dual boot another OS, or use a linux boot disc for phone stuff.

Thank you for the update! So this suggests that it should work with any rom based on 4.3 or above. Guess I need to find a place with the Force in stock now.

One followup....any reason to run the 12/23 nightly over the current 12/30 one?

Hangouts video was the only reason I didn't go newer. I use them regularly to communicate with my daughter so I need that functionality. Everything else appears to be working perfectly. 12/23 Nightly, CRPalmer's kernel, and the latest PA GApps.

I got a Fitbit Force for Christmas as well. It works beautifully with any of the 4.3 or 4.4 Roms I've tried the past few days. It needs the low energy bluetooth capabilities that aren't available in 4.2.2

Have you used any Sense based Roms that are 4.3 or 4.4? I'm trying out CM11 right now, and it's ok, but I've been running into a few minor issues and think I still prefer Sense.

So far as I know there aren't any sense roms running 4.3 or 4.4, though Joelz is working on a 4.4 version...
I had the same issues with Aosp, so I'm back to Viper rom running 4.2.2. I can't sync the force with the bluetooth, but at least everything else is good.

Windows update from 8.0 to 8.1 has broken the fastboot drivers so it wont recognize your device in bootloader. I just had to undo and go back to windows 8.0.
To do this....
On your computer go to >settings >change pc settings, then I think its the middle option >restart your computer and save files. Be sure to back up anything it tells you that you will lose, and now you're back to windows 8.0 the way the computer came.
Now your fastboot drivers will work again.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up. I'm glad that we're getting into the 4.3 roms for sense. I'll have to give that one a shot! I have a feeling we're about to see a LOT more low engergy bluetooth products coming out that will need the 4.3+

Does anyone use the Bank of America app deposit feature? If so have you gotten it working with any of the new ics builds? I've tried all of the MR releases of liquid smooth and today I just flashed the new release from twisted. When you try to take a picture the app just hangs and then crashes. The camera works fine otherwise.

gps question for those running cm10 1-13-13 nightly or stable build

simple question for anyone running the stable build or the newest nightly of cm10...does gps (navigation work). i had jellybam and it was fantastic for me, but when i tried navigation it would work for 1 minute, then freeze and crash (same thing happened with telenav). so i had to come to sense, but sense is annoying me because every time you switch between apps, it has to reload the app when you open it back up.
so if your navigation is working for you, please let me know, im interested in running cm10 as my daily driver.

I'm not currently running it, but I was and had no issues with gps which I use regularly.. From what I understand if u have any issues all u have to do is back up cm10, flash a sense rom and make sure u have a good gps lock, restore cm10 backup and should be good to go.. Good luck and enjoy your super speedy rom..

Did you try clearing the GPS settings through the dialer on a sense rom?
You'll need your msl # to do it. I'm also not sure of the dialer code. You'd have to look it up.

Need Help: CM 10.2 w/WIFI & LTE issues

I'd like to first of all thank the CM guys for a great ROM - I'm a skeptic, but I really like it, nice work.
So far everything works on this ROM except I have two nagging issues:
1) My WIFI constantly cycles on and off - that's a deal breaker, I use my DNA alot online for work.
&
2) My LTE signal is much weaker now. Instead of the usual 4 bars at the office, I get 2.
Any help would be fantastic.
The CM 10.2 that I've loaded is: 10.2-20131014-NIGHTLY-dlx
Thanks so much.
CM reports false radio info. It should be the same as long as recent radio's are installed..
I spent a lot of time researching - and taking pot shots from some of the devs about not installing NIGHTLY ROMs on my daily phone.... and finally decided to go with a prime time ready ROM. So I installed ViperDNA, it's perfect so far.
Thanks for the help folks.

I've had similar problems with the radio and WiFi in CM10.2 nightlies. Ended up installing Viper Sense 5 just to get to 4.2. Sense 5 is horrible but I don't want to go back to 4.1 so I can't wait to see a working AOSP ROM.

Still on ViperDNA. I really like this ROM, only have the one Skype audio issue right now, other than that it's 100% (okay, so it's 99%) lol.

Updated to the latest nighty (10.2-20131201-NIGHTLY-dlx). Same problem, very weak signal.
Sorry if I hijack the thread, but I have 2 more questions:
1. Is it possible to make to icon group background transparent (when you group multiple app icons)? The circle black background looks terrible.
2. What can I do to have the actionable email notification, i.e. the ability to delete email when I pull down the notification bar?
TIA.

CM11 weekly build

Due to popular demand, I'm moving my CM11 builds out to a new thread.
#include <standard_disclaimer.h>
Coming from CM10.x (or JB/ICS 4.3 and previous), this cannot be dirty-flashed. Factory reset and wipe /cache, /system, and /data.
Can be dirty-flashed from CM11.
TWRP won't work. Requires CWM 6.0.4.3 or higher
This is a plain-vanilla CM11. No extra commits on this build. If you dirty-flash on top of one of Jamie's P-builds, you'll lose all the Uber-Kernel functionality.
Use the Skyrocket changelog for information on what's changed on these builds:
http://www.cmxlog.com/11/skyrocket/
Right now, the big issues are common with ALL CM builds:
Video recording not working
LTE not working on SOME carriers
Trebuchet launcher was re-integrated into the main CM build tree, but it's not working on this build yet.
-blaine
Here's the link to the last build. I'm done with this project. It was a fun ride.
http://d-h.st/ThGh
Kernel link:
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_samsung_msm8660-common
(all the old links were dead: DevHost had deleted all the files.)
(The thread remains for the info, but the links won't be reposted.)
-blaine
I'm building these on a weekly basis. I'm trying for Fridays, but that may not be set in stone.
Besides not having time to do nightlies, the sheer number of changes going in on a daily basis is astonishing. As with CM10.0 and CM10.1, the volume of changes at this early stage in the game means that stability is not a priority. Weekly builds give a little more time to figure out exactly where the bugs are (true problems versus problematic flashes and downloads), and my laptop a rest.

Is this a new rom for us or a continuation of Jaimie's? Just wondering if a dirty flash is possible from his p15?
This is a plain-vanilla CM11 build.
I don't believe there's any reason why you could not dirty flash over Jamie's builds.
However, I'm not building his UberKernel so you'll lose all that functionality.

Hmmm..that's odd...I completely wiped before flashing the ROM twice and this feature was not working from the beginning for me..I couldn't get it to work even after loading gravity box in exposed..
Maybe I'll have to try downloading the ROM again. Although I doubt its a bad download as everything else is working so well..I may wait a few days to test as I can use an app switcher app from the market.
Can anyone else confirm that the default android app switcher is working for them?

I did dirty flash as well and did not encounter any problems. Pretty nice build.
CM11 camera recoding does not work as stated but external apps do work. I use "A Better Camera" and it works. It has several seconds delay before starting recording but after that everything is fine and recording is playable. Tried 720p and 1080p. Read that JB Camera + worked as well but did not try myself.
As for LTE it just does not stick for me after *#*#4636#*#* LTE/GSM selection. Others do not have this problem. May be modem related. In CM10.2 LTE/GSM/WCDMA was available in settings and I did not have to do dialer trick. In CM11 only 3G and 2G options are available. Still works fine with LTE after dialer trick. And without it it defaults to HSPA+ which is pretty fine for most usages.
Thanks for keeping this up and running!
If you aren't sure then do it twice!
NFC anyone?
So has anyone gotten NFC or Google wallet tap to pay to work? Or is it just me?
I dirty flashed this over P15, was getting some random reboots on P15, maybe one a day, but on this I now have about 4-5 a day in the middle of phone calls and all.
Anyone else seeing this, or should I just clean flash this?

NFC seems to work fine. I can send and receive photos to and from my wife's S3.
Has tap to pay worked with our phone on any ROM? I thought there was some security feature missing that precluded this...or at least made it something you wouldn't want to try.

If you don't mind a somewhat dated ROM, Succulent's CM10.0 dated 12/31/12 is the most reliable http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/03/cm10-0-jelly-bean-for-nook-tablet-uploading/.
If you decide to try it, make sure that you flash the Gapps version corresponding to CM10.0 (gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip).
Just remember, the Google Now launcher still doesn't like the nook tablet and can cause a variety of issues. I just had it Bork my NT when it updated last night (even though I use nova launcher set as my home). I've sense entirely removed Google Now from the device and it seems to be running better than before.

i've had that rom reboot randomly for me several times before. cm11 doesn't do that.
I have loaded up cm11 bit haven't much time to pay with it. I am not partitioning the sdcard. The gapps I downloaded doesn't have enough space to install. I've seen people mention a micro gapps but... The links I have found for that seem to be dead. Still looking for a gapps I can install to internal.

Do a Google search for "pa gapps" and it should be the first link taking you to the XDA forum. Select the mini or micro gapps for 4.4.2 (be careful as the 4.4.3 gapps just released, you don't want them)

All experience of ROM performance is in part a case of YMMV depending on individual use.
I had a spontaneous reboot once in ~10 months running Succulent's CM10.0 12/31. No other issue whatsoever. Other folks also have had good experiences with it -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572987.
I've been running CM11 M6 since it first came out, my one significant issue with it is Google Search freezing & crashing the NT about half of the times -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2560827&highlight=google+search&page=40.
