For Poweramp users:
To use V4A with Poweramp properly, you need to follow the steps below.
Open Poweramp Settings -> Audio -> Advanced Tweaks -> Direct volume control -> Turned off.
To solve Poweramp volume too low after turning off Direct volume control:
Turn on V4A's PlaybackAGC, set strength to Medium/Extreme, set Max Gain to Infinity, set Max Output to 0db.
For system-provided music players (such as MIUI music player, Apollo etc.):
In these music players, turning on player equalizer will auto disable V4A, turning off will enable V4A.
Third-party players such as TTPOD and Poweramp have no such problems.
Tips:
To use XHiFi on speaker, use lock effect mode.
New Usage Terms & Condition Policy:
Starting from 1 April 2013, no one can include V4A FX nor XHiFi in their sound engine/sound mod or any work which is not a Rom.
You can only include V4A in Roms, but without any third party sound effects in the particular Rom in which you are featuring V4A.
Third party sound effects include audio effects/sound enhancers/sound panels which are not stock provided.
Example: BeatsAudio is considered third party sound effects to Sony Devices.
DSPManager / Awesome Beats / SRS Panel are also considered third party sound effects without doubt.

Hey guys i came across Viper4Android Audio mod and i found it really amazing so i thought i could share this with you specially ParanoidAndroid users since AcidAudio Engine V7 crashes it.
I have not tried this on stock rom, Can anyone check if it works?

It has everything acid audio engine has plus some more, The convolver feature by itself is pretty amazing given that you choose a good IRsample!

Has anyone confirmed whether this works on stock CM?
Not here it doesn't. FX driver doesnt initialise properly, XHIFI works but has little effect because the FX doesn't work.

Both mort player and vlc are louder for music and films but netflix seems the same :-s Is it likely netflix is actually louder and it's been a long day?

Well I got Viper to work on CM after a factory reset.
I couldn't find a place to extract the samples to as I can't find the directory mentioned in the OP... so it's just sitting on the SD card for now until I figure out what to do with it.
I am a novice when it comes to audio settings, so if anyone could help me out on a recommended setup for the speakers (not headphones) that would be much appreciated!

I actually let Viper do that for me. If you press the convolver option, it will create the directory and then ask to place the IR samples in it.
I was thinking of creating it myself, but wasn't sure if there was supposed to be other stuff in the folder (I didn't have a Viper folder anywhere on the kindle to begin with).

As said in the faq I followed afterwards these instructions, too:
- Why there is background noise when using v4a effects?
Rename /system/lib/soundfx/libbundlewrapper.so to libbundlewrapper.so.bak, reboot device.
Im on Paranoid Rom for Kindle Fire HD 7 and this works nicely. I was annoyed at how low my headset volume output was compared to my SGS3 phone. This helped greatly and it sounds great, thanks!!!
Quick note, and I've seen it mentioned, you CAN create the directory yourself (in the root of the SDCARD\viper4android\kernel ) Place the IR files there and it found them in the apps.

I've got it working also on CM10.2 . Now I am trying to figure out how to uninstall/delete/disable DSP Manager (sys file) with no luck. I've tried using Root Broswer and Root Uninstaller Pro with no luck. Any thoughts on how to remove DSP Manager?
EDIT: ok, did some more searching and I was finally able to remove DSP Manager as "su" with Terminal Emulator using the following command to mount the system folder:
mount -o remount,rw /system
then I just deleted the file in its directory
rm DSPManager.apk
This file is currently set to private

Not sure of which file/link you are referencing; however, you might try the Google Play Store. This is where I downloaded my viper4android fx for 4.3, which had a lot of Chinese writing.
Use it at your own risk. I'm not responsible if you brick your device.
I'm currently using this on my Mi3 with this ROM: CANCRO][OFFICIAL][BETA-SOKP-L-5.1-LMY47I][SONIC OPEN KANG PROJECT

Note: It's being advised that you do a nandroid backup before installation.
Installation steps:
1. Extract the Zip file
2. Choose ViPER4Android_FX_A4.x.apk
3. Install drivers when prompted
4. Disable LPA (Low Profile Audio)
5. Reboot
6. Enable your desired presets or you can just play with the settings.
7. Feel the beat with your headset. I'm currently using Mi_InEar Piston V2 and it's awesome. Enjoy!!!

Don't working on V6 dev
Hi everyone and root lovers
We have a good speaker in our k6 series and I think it's good when used with dolby, I tried so hard but dolby didn't work on oreo rom or I couldn't..
For those who want to try, I get the best sound for headphone and phone speaker this way:
System equalizer should be turned off from its on - off switch, no need to disable or uninstall;
1- İnstall; 'Audio Modification Library' (Magisk Module)
2- Reboot recovery and flash zip; 'ViPER4Android Black n Cheese Edition Unity.zip' (this module is always flashing without driver problem)
3- Reboot the system and control the viper4 (if it is running normally, continue)
4- Restarting recovery again and flash zip: ' SoundModAromaInstaller.zip'
4- there are many options but some did not work, my install settings:
4-(All other options and VİPER4Arise: skip-none)
- New user
- Core System, then Modules
- VIPER4Arise Profiles: yes
- ToolBoox: install
- Remove deep buffer from audio policy: no
- Set SELinux Permissive Mode: no
- SDCard Permissions Repair: yes
- Next: install
- Finish: Wipe Dalvik/ARTCache, reboot system

I get good sound from headphones and speakers in this way, sorry if there is any faulty information I'm no expert..

Hello again,
I found another forum and I want to share a good working version on oreo with magisk v18
You can install the zip file from twrp after the above installations or only Dolby Digital , if you want to delete; uninstall file is available
I tested it on bootlegger rom and it works fine, achievements..

After trying out a lot of different sound mods and apps and patches I always came back to Viper4Android. Simple to use, great sound quality and a lot of customization.
Steps:
-Extract the attached IRS.zip into Android/data/com.pittvandewitt.viperfx/files/Kernel (For Android 11 follow this tutorial)
-Install latest Viper4Android apk (Download here), open it, grant root access and install the drivers.
-Reboot the device.
IF THE MOD IS NOT WORKING AFTER REBOOT TRY SETTING SELINUX MODE TO PERMISSIVE WITH THIS APP AND/OR INSTALLING AUDIO MODIFICATION LIBRARY MAGISK MODULE
HEADSET
Go to Headset and enable the Master power switch, I suggest you put on your headphones now so you can hear the changes in the sound yourself and tweak them to your liking.
My settings are:
Master power: ON
FIR equalizer (enabled): Preset: Acoustic
Convolver (enabled); Impulse Response: IRS.irs (copy IRS.irs from the rar into Viper4Android/Kernel); Cross Channel: 60%

Saulin is great set-up. Speaker, Bluetooth work's great. Not yet try in headset.

It can do for miui 11 ?

Updated guide for Android 10 based roms, MIUI and AOSP.
I have the stock rom..
Miui 11.0.1 Global firmware stock rom.. The latest firmware for that phone.
My phone is mi 8 lite.
I installed the stock rom wia recovery using pith black recovery.. All succes.
After that system boot.. I finished the setup ??
Then i boot again to recovery flsshed magisc 20.3 and reboot again all ok..
Then i used magisc module to flash Viper4android V2.7.1.6 rebooted and works very fine..
Then i installed the dolby digital plus V7. 2 for Android 10.. Reboot and works ?
Booth of viper4android and dolby works without problem.
No musicfx uninstalled no modification library / sound path aplyed.. ? So.. Unusefull tutorial

Yeah, the new Viper4Android version fixes the problems we had to bypass by using the steps I mentioned in the tutorial. I will update the tutorial soon, no reason to call it unuseful

Even with the Magisk module working, I always come back here to see the settings and apply them to my device.

Oh, I get is, it is need new ones for v2.7.2.1
If you can rewrite for this new version...
for example there is no more "profile" there is "preset" folder. and old xml does not work on never version... It must be make again...
Can you do it... At least for best ones...
