Hi.
As far as I know from digging in the specs from different sources - one max from Verizon is capable of AWS LTE band 4.
The problem is that it never gets connected to LTE on T-Mo.
I have forced it from info menu to LTE only, but it stays disconnected.
Can anybody shed light on what may be preventing the Tmo AWS LTE to work on a AWS compatible one max.
May it be in need of software update?
Need to put in TMo APN info maybe...

*I believe* the aws has to be enabled through a software update like the gs4 was when aws was enabled for verizon. Otherwise I would be getting verizon aws speeds in my area with my verizon one max right now.

I'm currently using a note 3 Verizon on tmo lte. And band 4 had to be enabled in a hidden menu. If someone had the dial codes to the band selection on the HTC one max that would fix it.
saw the note 3 how to on tk tech news on youtube.

When I looked into this because I am in a verizon aws area it was not possible because we have the same setup as the verizon one (not the verizon s4 which I also have or n3). The One does not have the software part required for aws to work and neither would we.
note 3, blackberry z30, lg g2, htc one max all on TMOBILE LTE!

I just followed the procedure on a video at TK Tech News on YouTube. it shows the LG G2 working on TMOBILE LTE and they also stated putting a aosp rom on the HTC one max enables TMOBILE LTE or allows you to force cat 4 lte.
I'm in the process of rooting and s off this one to see if it works. it has and I've confirmed it working on the g2 and the note 3 as well as the blackberry z30.
thanks

There is no aosp rom for the Max with working radio. No kernel source. So they can say putting a aosp rom on there does it all they want but no one can do it currently.
Working!!!
That guy is full of it. But after some trial and error I got it working and have full 4G speed.
In build.prop change or add these if they dont exist

Can anyone please tell me what I need to do to get to build.prop to change or add this information. I am currently rooted with s off and supercid, using NuSenseSIX Rom.
**Edit**
Nervermind I figured it out. There's a app called "buildprop editor" that takes you where to go and let's you add or change what you need to. Also you definetly need to change the sku id to 11 or it will not work. If you have problems saving the change to the sku id, install fx file explorer and fx file explorer (root ad-on) from the google play store. The apps were created by NextApp Inc. The FX file explorer has a lock icon that you click on in the upper right corner that will give r/w capabilities necessary to save any changes.
This may help further.....

I found out something tricky with this phone, "ro.ril.gprsclass=14" was causing my phone to hang on boot so I kept resetting it with the hardware keys so after I got it booted up, I proceeded to delete the ro.ril.gprsclass=14 in buildprop or sometimes the phone would delete it first and second I spotted a key that looked similar to "ro.telephony.lteOnGSMDevice=1" in buildprop which was "telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=1". Noticed the CDMA wasn't all Caps????. So I modified the Key in buildprop to look like this "ro.telephony.lteOnGsmDevice=1", only the "G" is capped in GSM......And After I did that I restarted the phone and after it booted, I proceeded to phone test menu and changed it to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" and boom I've noticed the "4GLTE" showed up in my status bar so I did a speed test and surely I was getting 30 Mbps Down and 10 Mbps Up. One other good thing is my MMS IS WORKING!!!!!!! just ass fast as an SMS!!!!!
The Rom I'm Using Is: NuSenseSIX-LP_t6_RC5.0.4.2_11132015
UPDATE: Everytime you restart your device, the test menu reverts back to "GSM prl" so just put it back on "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" and your LTE will return.
Will this work with sprint variant

Hi
I just got Galaxy S2 att but I am in Europe, and since I don't use phone only for calls & sms I wonder if there is an option to permanently set phone to use GSM only?
I know the trick with ...4636... menu, where I can set to use gsm, but when I restart my phone it goes back to umts again.
Is there some hack to open that menu in "mobile networks" or should I use international rom?
I'd find what db it edits when you do that then make init.d script to make that edit every time you boot.

The phone should technically revert to edge. You see the phone by default is set to 3g prefered meaning in these situations in which roaming in another country and the frequency bands do not match or cannot find 3g in the area that in which your phone uses "att". It would in this case revert to a lower spectrum until it finds one your phone uses. So in this case it should be automatically reverting to edge when you hopped off the plane, boat, canoe, whatever.

I have 3g signal but it's love, and i have seen posts that 3g uses more battery, so since i don't use data i want be able to force phone to use gsm only.
I have tried *#*#4636#*#* but it won't switch to gsm, stays at 3g.

You can check you wireless setting menu--> Mobile network to see if there is an option for you to choos Use 2G only.

My phone kept switching to edge because the wcdma signal in my area is very low but 3 bars of edge is worse than 1 bar of hsdpa+ (no lte in enterprise al) so I choose wcdma only and I always have signal. You can set preferences or choose certain signals only but be aware if you change to a specific signal only and it's not there you will loose service... If you ever need to reset the settings and can't remember the code removing the sim card and reinstalling it resets back to default.

Awesome! I just got mine today (Australian version) and don't have the mobile carrier menu, which I think is ridiculous. This did the trick for me to disable LTE
This is the procedure I have used to disable LTE after finally figuring out that my "missed calls with no notification whatsoever" issue (unless caller leaves a VM) was caused by having LTE enabled. Something to do with the One having to switch to HSDPA for voice and the handoff not working right. Sucks not using LTE but I can't be missing calls....
Works a treat, too bad we have to dive into a Service Menu to choose our network preferences.... Thanks ATT...

How long will this maintain your selected network? I've used this many times on past phones, but carrier settings have frequently reverted the setting automatically. at the least, it will reset itself on boot (which isn't necessarily that big of a deal, unless you're Dev-ing and rebooting frequently.). If rooted, there are a number of ways to be able to easily select your desired connection type and have it stick. glad to hear this has worked for your needs so far.

It will revert back after air plane mode/disabling data and on restarts. I just use the app if I notice I'm on edge which is rare and pretty obvious. This is my first smart phone ever since my htc excaliber windows phone that I haven't run unofficial software on. it's just a great package and I feel I'll deal with more issues rooted than I do stock. Can't wait for 4.3 next week the ONLY thing I miss is battery percentage in notification bar lol
I would like to have WCDMA/GSM (auto), but that option is not present.
I'm guessing WCDMA preferred would do the trick? I currently have GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto but I don't use LTE..

Here's a little trick for anyone that's rooted - If you want to be able get the Preferred network mode list when selecting Settings>Mobile Data>Network Mode, you have to change your sku ID in /system/customize/ACC/default.xml. Using a text editor (I always just use the text editor built in to Root Browser), find
Code:
<item type="integer" name="sku_id">7</item>
almost at the end. 7 is ATT's sku, and gives you things like ATT's Data Icons and lying signal bars, but will also enable the NFC icon in the status bar when it's on and remove the Preferred Network mode from Settings. Changing this to 11 will set it as TMobile - Tmo data icons and other tmo settings (I believe T Mobile has the Preferred Network mode settings as well). Changing it to 42 will set it with WWE device settings, so you'll get generic HTC data icons, signal bars that actually work, network mode settings, etc. Obviously Save and Reboot after making the change.

i want to set my network settings to 2G only, what setting should i use? GSM Auto or GSM Only? Also, does changing these 2G/3G/LTE settings by dialing *#*#4636#*#* have any effect on anything else besides the network mode?
Hey guys,
I recently noticed that the default network mode on the Google Edition 4.2 dump is set to 0, or "WCDMA Prefered". Thus not enabling LTE on our devices by default.
It can easily be changed by using *#*#INFO#*#* on dial pad.
Im wondering if anyone knows where the default network mode is set or how we can modify the default network mode.
Im assuming its somewhere in Phone.apk or Settings.apk or some bool god knows where, if anyone can shed some light would be appreciated.
didnt work for me is there a diff code to enable lte or have i got to reflash a diff rom
I always used *#2263# to modify network mode

ro.telephony.default_network=(8 for me because I work with CDMA)
With that I also add a lot of prop lines for the Verizon network specifically. You'll have to add your own network's information
No matter what you set it at though, if you go into network settings it will auto-switch back to WCDMA. I haven't fixed the link and switching yet but I did change that menu link to automatically open up *#*#4636#*#* instead of the menu that switches it to WCDMA. Kind of a work around for the time being.

I agree, and I haven't been able to get it defaulted to my network by the any decompile/recompile system edits I've tried that i found through researching/reading. I'd welcome the direct answer as to where that specific bit of code lies but given this thread and the lack of answers I'm going to guess that help isn't coming.
I've been slowly working through each core app and framework editing everything relating to GSM, baseband, and radio. But I've not found or fixed that menu setting that defaults to wcdma. I've found the menu but nothing that would initiate it automatically changing to WCDMA without even clicking the dropdown menu.

edit the others.xml in System/csc. Scroll to the bottom of the xml and change volte and video calling to TRUE. Save and then reboot. The options will be in settings and the video calling icon will be in the dialer.
and to re-enable band I7 Open the dial pad
Type: *#0011# to enter Service Mode (Be very careful with what you do here)
Note: You need to be rooted for this to work
Once in Service Mode, do the following:
Tap the menu button and tap Back
Tap the menu button again and select "Key Input" and enter an upper case Q and press OK
Tap the menu button again and select "Key Input" and enter 4 zeroes (0000) and press OK
Wait 5 - 15 seconds. You'll see the Main Menu
Choose option [2]: UE SETTING & INFO
Choose option [1]: SETTING
Choose option [1]: PROTOCOL
Choose option [2]: NAS
Choose option [1]: NETWORK CONTROL
Choose option [4]: BAND SELECTION
Choose option [4]: LTE Band Preference
Choose option [7]: LTE ALL (Or you can choose any band instead)
If you want to go back then tap the menu button and choose Back (Don't press the back key)
Once again guys i take no credit for any of this. ive just seen people looking for the information and decided to put it all together for you
I am just curious, what's the benefit of enabling B17 on the device given that AT&T has B12 MFBI enabled throughout its network?
Does this enable the enhanced LTE voice? When you go to About Device > Status does it show IMS registration status as "Registered"? None of the carrier specific features will work unless the IMS is registered on the AT&T network.

LOL, I know.
What I understand is that none of the carrier specific features will work unless the AT&T network registers your phone. They have certain models they will recognize on their network for those features. 930U is not one of those models.

You left out the part where root is required to modify a CSC in the system partition.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
not where to be found those csc settings on a 930a with the latest pg9 Ota firmware
I am on the 930U firmware on my ATT&T S7. I can get to service mode, I am rooted, but can not get to the Main Menu. I have tried several times and it does not get past the opening page. Any suggestions?
I don't understand. Isn't G930U supposed to be used in US? If a band is used by a US carrier and supported by phone hardware, why firmware disable it?

Well, why does TMobile wifi calling work straight out of the box on the U firmware while AT&T's doesnt?

IMO this is because of the stupid AT&T policy, not because the phone does not support it.
AFAIK not being able to use band 17 is Samsung's problem right?

The S7 has wifi calling on the ATT branded rom. It's the stupid (or smart in a business sense) way they change things to their own proprietary format. If you want wifi calling then you have to buy their phone, not the U version.

Really? If G930U doesn't have wifi calling, why can T-Mobile users use wifi calling on G930U firmware?

That's what I'm saying it has wifi calling, but it does not work on the ATT network because they changed their rom for their wifi calling, the built in Wifi calling in the U rom does not work with ATT.
