[Q] Restoring Need for Speed Most Wanted Issues - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I just rooted my Sprint Note 3 using Kingo and wanted to restore my Need for Speed Most Wanted data using Titanium Backup. I have version 6.1.5.2 so. Well...the game just force closes. I'm think this problem was resolved after a certain version already. The phone is rooted only on stock MJ4. I tried using the restorecon command in a terminal anyways and have removed and reinstalled several times in trying to get it going. Any thoughts???

I also have this problem on my note3 kk 4.4.2 and did not found solution

I just had a thought. Now that im on 4.4 NAB & running into restore issues there. I was able to restore dungeon Hunter 4 but had to use helium to do it. Helium only had the data. So I installed it then used helium to restore its data and it worked. I figure can try that with need 4 speed.
Sucks cause I never backed nfs with helium. Although I may try to restore it in an emulator then back it up with helium then try to restore on my phone.

I restored my game on a galaxy mega 6.3 and it worked of course being rooted and older version of android. I then backed that up with helium onto the SDcard.
Moved that back to my phone then tried to restore it. Still a no go. I tried it again but restoring data after starting the game normally like I did with Dungeon hunter 4. Still a no go. So idk....There is something different about nfs. Not sure...

I had the same issue of FC with my Helium backup of NFS.
The solution was to restore the backup and then copy out the file 'nfstr_save.sb' from /data/data/com.ea.games.nfs13_row/files/var/. Then remove the app completely, reinstall cleanly and put only that file back again. (root required)

Really? Hmmm I will try that

was this before or after the 600mb file download?

Having the same issue anyone solved it as yet?

So far no doing the last suggestion only causes the game for me to pop an error of an invalid save data. Due to this I have since stopped playing the game. I been playing Summoner ' war. A bit addicted to it. If anyone decides to play it let me know I'm Snyperninja in the game. I'll add you if u Need friends in the game. Play it you'll see what I mean.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I too just had this issue. I was surprised the titanium restore prevented the app starting.
Anyway, I tried to copy the save game file from my titanium backup right into the proper location, force closed the game and opened it and everything came back. I didn't have to uninstall the app at all.
I know it's an old thread and everyone has probably moved on but my searching brought me here and the advice helped me fix it, so I'm leaving this note here for anyone else who might stumble across this thread.

Really??? You may have gotten lucky cause I think I tried that before. At what point did you copy the save game data? in my case doing so just made the game get a data error and it would kick the data and start fresh anyways.

This is the what happened:
Backed up in Ti
Flashed, wiped, restored
Game Exited without loading
Found this thread
Cleared Data on the app (which also cleared all the additional files)
Game redownloaded the additional files
Started the game as if it were a new game
Signed into Origin
Extracted the saved game file from the .tar.gz and put it in the right location
Killed the game process and started it up again and my progress was restored.

Okay yes..... this works

I have tried everything with this F__kin backup system, and still cannot get my "progress file" loaded. It reinstalls, but I have to start from the beginning, which is soooo f---kin aggravating. I get access to my cars, when I do the Origin login, but I have to re-purchase them all over again. I know there are hack tools to get money and SPs, but I don't want to do that because I really enjoy the challenge. Could you please explain what you mean by "proper location." Where exactly did you place the titanium files, and which ones?

This worked like a charm! I'd almost banged my head against the wall as this would be the second time I'd have completed the entire game and lost the app data due to rom swap.
The steps I used was:
Restore the app...
Restore the data...
Cut out the file 'nfstr_save.sb' from /data/data/com.ea.games.nfs13_row/files/var/ and save in a different location...
Opened up NFSMW and play the first 2 compulsory rounds...
Login to Origin...
Exit the game...
Paste the file 'nfstr_save.sb' back in /data/data/com.ea.games.nfs13_row/files/var/
(the game would have already re-written another copy of the file by now which you must overwrite)
Fire up the game again and you have your exact game progress back!
If you found this useful, don't forget to hit thanks!

The instructions from user iam breeze worked for me! Thanks!

It's so simple, most ppl rooting devices can't figure out such easy ops like find and copy a file.
By the way, needed rights for save game file are read & write ofc - 600

Star Wars the Old Republic Security Authenticator App

FYI - I just updated my T-Mobile SGS2. After the wipe and update, I'm unable to re-setup the application because I can't get another Serial and Activation Code from the SWTOR website.
Later I reloaded a custom ROM and tried to restore the app with Titanium, but I keep getting an "An unexpected error has occured."
So in short, if you are expecting an update for your phone, or load custom ROMs a lot, DO NOT USE THE ANDROID AUTHENTICATOR APP (until those awesome hackers find out what going on).
Fortunately I was rooted and able to restore a full system backup, to get the app back running correctly. But now I'm forced to run an older version of software on my phone.
Hopefully CS can help with a better solution or App.
I wrote down the key information I entered into the app when I set it up. I don't know if that will work later on though.
The other thing I have going for me... is that both my phone and tablet are configured for it. I did them both at the same time. That way, if one device is lost or stolen, or gets wiped, I can rely on the other.

You can't restore the data files from an different rom, delete the data files in titanium backup and the app should work again (you just have to configure it again)

yes but what ur not getting is that in order to set it up again u have to be able to log into ur account which u cant do without a security key
I havent checked yet, but i will soon. Is there a way to shut off the security key (temporarily, of course) so that we can just shut it off, load a rom, turn it back on and "re-marry" the app? Might not be great for nightly users, but I'd like to try some different roms without losing the ability to play my game.

The only way to detach the security key atm is to phone support and have them remove it. I read somewhere that adding that functionality to the webpage is a high priority.
yeah. I got my ticket back about that. I went ahead and just ordered a standalone key. Not going to take the chance. haha
There must be a way to backup the application. Moving it to an emulator on my pc would be nice, but I couldn't do it...

Successfully Restored Authenticator
I know this post is old, but I've seen several similar posts concerning the same issue, and the resolution was calling Customer Support and having it removed. Anyway, I've restored the app successfully several times today. Last week, I contacted Titanium Track (Titanium Backup Support), and one of the suggestions they gave me led to an answer. "If you leave the app installed and just switch between the ROMs without a wipe, does the same problem happen or not?".
It indeed did continue to function. I then tried a "factory reset" and restoring the app, which led to the dreaded "unexpected error occurred". My next step involved, restoring all system app data/rebooting...and then the authenticator functioned. After a couple of hours, I narrowed down the 2nd app that needs to be restored. Under Titanium Backup it's - [SETTINGS/BLUETOOTH...-> "Settings Storage". By exploring this data using Titanium Backup, I saw one variable that I believe is the cause of the issue. "Android_ID".
Sorry, I can't post the link but this is from "adrynalyne" on Android Forums - "Warning. Do Not Share Nandroid Backups".
Even if your apps aren't there, and no personal information has been entered on a fresh wipe.
If someone asks for a stock Nandroid backup, kindly tell them to get lost
contagous and I learned the hard way. I sent him a completely tweaked and clean nandroid, with none of my personal info or anything like that. He has been using it and it works great.
Until AppBrain fast web installer is used. See, it IDs your device by the Android_ID, which is unique to every phone, or is supposed to be.
Nandroid backups will record this device ID, and clone it onto another device. Well, when contagous installs an app using the web installer, I get it. Without a prompt or nothing.
While I can do the same thing, and it was fun sending him pron apps and sexy men wallpapers, it has a real potential for a security nitemare. I trust contagous, but let this serve as a warning to everyone. Its also not so simple as installing another ROM and factory reset. So far as I can tell, as long as you stay on the same build OS, you will keep the same ID. The only thing that changed my ID to something else was going back to 2.1.
So friends, don't let friends share nandroids. If you do, play it smart, and delete all but the system and boot images and recalculate the md5.

I believe that the Star Wars: The Old Republic Security Key app is looking at the Android_ID key for a match, and then bombing out. This is only a theory from my experience. But I would suggest to anyone that's willing to try it to attempt to restore both the SWORSK and Settings Storage "SETTINGS/BLUETOOTH", rebooting, and see what happens. Of course, make a NANDROID backup before trying this!

Some good news. I requested for the ability to restore the "Android_ID" be added to Titanium Backup, and they have made it so. I tested a couple times and can verify that it is the Android_ID that this app relies on. So for those out there, give it a try if you wish. I should note though that may have to switch the time sync "from auto to manual, then back to auto" to be able to get the site to accept the key. But yes, restoration of the Security Key has been achieved! Good luck everyone!
@Cbjohns
It's working!
I've got nandroid-backup from some months ago, when I used to play SWTOR. Now on the new ROM I couldn't make it working.
So I
1. nandroid-backup this ROM
2. nandroid-restore previous one
3. backup this SETTINGS/BLUETOOTH(only data) and SWTOR app(data+app)
4. nandroid-restore again present ROM
5. restore SETTINGS/BLUETOOTH(only data) and SWTOR app(data+app)
6. reboot(without it, it doesn't work) my phone
-and it's working.
Thanks again!!
I recently got a new phone and had to call support every time I tried a new rom. This has saved me TONS of time, thank you so much!

[SOLVED] WTF? Is up with the Market? Look at this...

Tried to go to my apps in the Market and keep getting this crap!!!
I get that after a fresh wipe and ROM install. I think it's a matter of Market talking to the phone and reading what apps you do and do not have currently installed.

OK well first relax. Issues like this are common when flashing custom roms. Your best bet is to do a full wipe and then reflash the rom. Also don't restore any system data at all as this can cause issues. Only user apps and data
Reboot! Always helps!
Same here factory reset worked

Hi, I know this problem. When you flash a new rom and afterwards apps were installed with a backup tool (e. g. titanium bu) and not with google market directly this error can occur.
When there is one app which was removed from market the error in your screenshot is shown. In my case it was the old version of "cut the rope". To solve this problem it is necessary to remove this link to the market or deinstallation of this app.
As long as there is a mismatch in the app-market-assignment it is also possible that you get the message that apps were not bought.
It is possible to un-link apps using the "rom toolbox pro". As far as I know it is not possible with the free edition.
I would make a nan backup and try to uninstall all apps directly in the market (on your PC not on your cell phone). Afterwards it should be possible to use the market on your cellphone. When something fails you can restore your backup.
Update: when you know which app is the source for your error --> use ur backup again and uninstall just the known erroneous app.
Its a lot of work

Titanium Headache

Titanium has been giving me problems for awhile. I haven't flashed anything for a couple months so it hasn't been a big deal, but today when I upgraded the firmware and wound up with some "issues", I really needed to be able to let Titanium do its thing and restore my stuff back like usual. No go.
I'm talking with the TB development people, but in case any of you masters out there have run across this, I thought I'd share.
After a new flash, TB doesn't access my backups. It sees them; they are all crossed out and the summary says I have none to restore. I can tap one and it opens up, but all of the boxes are grayed out. (See pic). Then, if I re-download the app from the store and install it, TB will access it and allow me to restore data only.
So in order to "restore" my apps, I have to download them one at a time from the market first. Any ideas?
I'd force close TB, move the files to a new folder, configure TB to use the new folder

Strange, I have never had a ROM flash wipe my internal sd card. That's where my TiB backups are stored. The only time it got wiped was from the s-off procedure and a radio update.

Well it doesn't really wipe the whole SD card, but clears key folders. I store my backups on my external card and then also back them up to my computer. Just in case...
I had the same issue at first. Moved my backups from internal to external sd. Used dropbox to upload and sync to a folder on my account. When flashing a new ROM I just download TiBu, open it up, make sure the directory is right and then open the menu, hit the reload titanium option and after that hit the menu again and hit the refresh apps button. Works for me every time.

didn't think either of these restored app data though. That is why people use titanium.
I know I had problems with it earlier this year, but it seems to get updated every week here lately and no problems at all. I switched my backup folder to the sd card and it restores apps and data no problem.
I just flashed Venesaur, and I haven't had an issue with TiBu.
In fact, I don't think I've ever had an issue with it. Except when I didn't know how to do something.

Problem restoring nandroid

Hello all, greetings from your friendly neighborhood newb! In following the edicts set forth by the XDA PTB, I was attempting to solve on my own a minor problem with my gallery when I encountered a much more serious problem that seems to be getting progressively worse with every action I take. I don't dare try anything else on my own. I've tried Google searches with "xda i777..." in front to no avail. I apologize if the answer if it there and I just haven't found it. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me.
I'm on AOKP/N.E.A.K./UCPLC5
A few days ago, I noticed the gallery icon on my home screen wasn't working, but I was still able to access the gallery through appsorganizer, which is the primary way I access apps, so I wasn't concerned. Then I couldn't play downloaded videos, etc. Long story short, my phone won't play downloaded, streaming, or previously recorded videos in the gallery, browser, skyfire, YouTube, it third-party apps. So I
-switched launchers to test gallery (icon on desktop was there, but said "app not found.")
-reflashed gapps.zip
-factory reset/wipe cache then flash gapps.zip
-restore nandroid backup, soft bricked phone
-tried to restore more recent backups, found one that worked on the third try (got a couple "error while restoring /system")
-gallery opened, videos played, pics weren't there ("no external storage found")

Data.img not found. Skipping restore of /data.
Android_secure not found. Skipping restore of /sdcard/android_secure.

-restored latest nandroid, and started searching the heck out of Google until the worrywart part of my brain demanded that I post on xda RIGHT THIS SECOND!! (The same portion of my brain keeps whispering "super bug.")
It may or may not be worth noting that I was on UCKK7 before I flashed AOKP.
Thank you to anyone who helps me. I've grown rather fond of my i777 over the past few weeks and I really hope it isn't too badly damaged.

-gallery opened, videos played, pics weren't there ("no external storage found")
-restored most recent nandroid to make sure pics weren't gone (in retrospect, plugging it into the computer or using a file manager would have been better method)

dont think you can restore a GB nandroid from ICS. flash back to GB, then try your nandroid.
Or possibly the file got messed up?

I'm pretty sure you can, but I also applaud this guy for the amount of detail he put in his post. Even though I don't have an answer for him he did everything he should have before posting.

yea I wasnt sure on that one. but would make sense as different kernals, different recovery.
Always best to use the same recovery/kernal to restore, as you did the backup with.
Nick you beat me to it. This guy wins the award for best "help me" thread ever!
Good luck bro! You came to the right place.

Hmm...I have tried several different kernels, all were ICS-based. I wouldn't even know which one to flash for which nandroid. I'll keep that in mind for future reference though.

for future reference? you give up?
If your nandroid is from a GB kernel, then flash a GB kernel, just need the kernel, boot into recovery and attempt to restore.
Thats what I would do to narrow down the backup being messed up.
I believe this may be a problem with touch recovery nandroids versus non touch. I remember reading about that somewhere, anyone confirm?

[Q] Titanium Backup and FCs

Hey all, apologies in advance if this Q is answered somewhere. After searching XDA and Google and trying to avoid posting something new, I resorted to posting.
Running Shostock 2, and I have two issues with TiBu. The first one has existed for all versions of Shockstock2 I've run, and the second one is brand new.
1) TiBu is unable to restore apps, only data. I've tried the different App Processing Modes (as is often suggested), to no avail. This is a smallish problem because it enables me to sort through the apps I really want, but I'd rather just do it in TiBu than going through market installs and then TiBu for data. Any ideas of what might be amiss?
2) New in Shostock 4.1.1 - Whenever any sort of backup occurs, many many apps and processes FC over and over (including Apex). Closing and reopening, clearing RAM, etc., don't help. The only solution I've found is restarting. Is this a bad install of Shostock, TiBu, or something I should just expect?
Thanks!
Never restore system apps
Never restore ALL apps
Only use the batch restore missing apps

I am also running ShoStock2 and TiBu and do not have any problems. I can backup and batch restore non-system apps with no problem. As pirate already mentioned, never use TiBu for system apps.
What i usually do before installing any new ROM is to delete all my TiBu backups and do them again fresh. Have you noticed off the FCs occurs always at the same point in the restore process? It might mean a problem with a particular app.

Yup yup. I only do user apps, never system apps.

Not restore, but the actual backup process. The TiBu backup runs (changing App Processing Mode allowed it to run without TiBu hanging), then if I interact with the phone any time after the batch backup has begun (including after the process ends), the FCs come fast and furious.

May I ask why never restore system apps?
I currently switched from 2.3.6 coz to shostock and used system apps restore to pretty much replicate my everything to shostock.
Does it cause a bug somewhere or somethin?

Some system apps can be restored safely, and others can not. If you are changing base, such as you did when you installed Shostock2 from UCKK6, then many of the system apps will be different. If you installed all system apps with data, your phone would probably not even boot fully, and at the least would constantly have force closes and/or freezes and other problems on almost everything. It is usually safe to restore apps like email, Gmail, memo, Google+, etc. but when I do, I always do only one app at a time.
If you ever have fc's, freezes, or other problems, then you should reinstall and restore more carefully.
A little update, since it looks like nobody has any ideas...The FC problem occurs when any app uses super use privileges. And the problem seems to be getting worse - randomly happening even when there is no apparent reason it should. Is it possible that the install of Shostock simply didn't take and I should try again? Thanks.
The FCs happen because when you restore system apps with a backup that was made on a different ROM base many of them will no longer be compatible. You never, EVER restore system apps unless you are doing so to the same ROM that you originally made the backup on. Your phone may appear to be OK, but nagging FCs will continue to happen with no apparent reason. Your only solution at this point is a reflashing of the ROM from scratch as there is no way to fix what you've done.

You're joking, right? Did you even read the thread or just start typing after skimming the first line? I mean, it's only 6 posts...

TiBu's most recent update mentions fixing issues with batch jobs. I wonder if that was my issue.
Anyway, given the lack of knowledge on this front, I went ahead and wiped everything, flashed Shostock2 4.1.3, had the same FC issues, wiped, wiped, flashed, wiped, wiped, flashed, rebooted several times. It's now good, but still a puzzling issue. Still, there's no good explanation yet of where these FCs came from.

Well, genius, my response was to the guy asking why not to restore system apps with TiBu. Did you even read that? I guess I should have quoted him so that you would have no reason to make a snarky reply to someone trying to help others, but what do I know?
Titanium Backup USB Debugging
Idk why I keep getting this message "Your system settings may cause problems. To correct this, go to your phone's settings, then in "Applications" then in "Development" and tick the "USB debugging" checkbox. I already tick it but it still have the message. BTW I am on Pfittech rom and siyahkernel. Anyone know why?

EDIT: just as a friendly tip: you will usually get a lot more help in this forum if others can see you have made a genuine effort to search for answers to your problem before you post.
