So I have a tablet with a broken lcd but it has an SD card port and a hdmi port something not many Android devices have, anyway to still use it, whether it be hdmi cable, remote control software, adb or something similar...?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hey forum, I'm just windering if theres some sort of supported double adapter for the usb port.
I love the idea of being able to connect my flash drive to watvh movies but using the usb host cable takes up the only port for charging.
Does anyone have a good fix or.have found a good product?

Unfortunately you cant use mhl and USB otg at the same time, I wanted todo the same thing and play videos of a flash drive but found out that its impossible

Damn, cause I tried vlc but pc bein a ***** and Flex just wont play the videos.
Ah well, this is where an external usb slit would have been slightly better than hiding it under the covers...
Edit: meant MicroSD slot not usb slit.

I like hacking and cutting and fixing and things like that so I was wondering is it anywhere remotely possible to make a home made tv out cable for cheap that works with either the headphone jack or usb port (to charge at the same time or not) the tmobile vibrant? If It makes a difference I use cm7 and stock respectively. Right now I am using stock for its camera app but id really like to use my phone with the tv but I dont trust buying things online and I cant find any in stores. Again any and all help is welcomed and greatly appreciated. I hope this is possible

Anyone got any ideas?

Mainly got the device to be using it through HDMI out. Has been working fine but randomly stopped working. Tried different cables same result, device seems to detect the cable as video mutes and screen size changes but no mirroring.
I know many users reported faults with hdmi out but any found any solutions? Already sent once for rma same reason and replaced unit. Can the device be opened and replace the port? Or is the entire motherboard attached and faulty?

Don't know what firmware you are running, but I can tell this...
The official Archos 4.0.24, 4.0.25, and current 4.0.26 (and any rooted firmware based on them) is full of all kinds of bugs. The only good working rooted firmware is the rooted stock Archos 4.0.7. Any of the other various firmwares have all kinds of things that do not even work at all. Anyway...
Try unplugging the HDMI cable, turn the table totally off. After you start it up again, give a few minutes for things to settle out and then plug in the HDMI cable again to see if it works. I've had to do that a few times (even with older official Archos firmware).
Im using the stock 4.0.26 fitmware. Tried to follow your suggestion, no use. Tried plugging in charger and out, same thing. The device detects cable inserted, but no output. It used to work fine before, the port does not look loose or damaged either.

So it is a hardware malfunction? I was hoping the miniUSB supports mhl video out, but I figured the 250gb versions dont.
Any way to replace hdmi port without replacing motherboard?

Would it/is it possible to Live boot a linux distro from a USB OTG connection?
e.g. somehow set up the phone to boot from USB OTG, plug in a usb stick with a linux arm distro and away we go?
Alternatively, can it be done with a SD-card?
Hmm interested if this would work. I'm kind of doubting it but still

Apparently not, just like computer if one's motherboard doesn't support boot from USB, then how do you manage to do it?
In this case it's same, phone's motherboard is NOT designed to boot from USB

Not with stock bootloader, you would need a custom one. And bootloaders are very tricky to modify

What about dual booting android + linux?
Surely you could install it to the internal memory?
I would love to see this myself... but you would probably be best served by either doing ubuntu for device or just getting a rasberry pi and a small hdmi monitor.
Fake iPhone aka iPhone clone van do
These iPhone clone can boot from SD card instead of having nand or mmc. I saw a couple of videos on YouTube. All these clone have cheap mediatek chip
Desperate answer needed, although fearing the worse.
Cracked my screen earlier, so much so completely unable to use the touchscreen.
Problem I have is that I never set my phone to mtp mode and cannot access my files from a laptop. I have a lot of family photos and priceless items in the phone.... It obviously switches on but damage wise, may be too much to get repaired...

I presume you don't have a custom recovery installed or usb-debugging activated?
Unfortunately not..... Only just upgraded from my original xperia z...... Ironically which was fully setup for anything....
Think I'm screwed....

If i understand you right then only the touchscreen isn't working but the lcd is still ok.
In this case, i have to remember you that our device has usb otg. So with an adapter you could try to plug an usb mouse in it.
However from what i read auto detection is turned off, so you may have to restart the phone to detect the mouse.
Hopefully this can help you
Lcd is working fine.... I'll have a look into this...never thought about that!! I assume this adaptor connects to the charging port?
Sent from my C6603 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
So then you should give it a try, the adapters are not expensive and i just read of other people who were able to backup their data of an z5c with broken digitizer
Of course on your micro-usb/charging-port.
I backed up my sister in law's Z5c with cracked screen and faulty digitizer using a mouse connected to an OTG cable. I installed Solid Explorer from Google Play and used that app to copy all photos from internal storage (DCIM folder and subfolders) to an SD card. Was quite straight forward. Good luck OP!
Thanks for the help people. I will get the phone sorted I dare say at some point but really want to get a my stuff off it just in case the worse happens!! Got an adaptor ordered.....

Can't you use Xperia Companion to do the backup?
Wouldn't that also require mtp-mode?
