Getting error VDm client has stopped unexpectedly every time phone starts. There are no other symptoms of a problem. LTE seems limited thats about it.
I have flashed ROM after full wipe a few times, this happened after flashing the RUU mentioned in this forum.
Yes, I'm getting that same error. Also, Sprint Id has stopped error. I thought it was something that was being erased to cause the error(s) as I was using RomCleaner. I went back to stock, did a factory data reset and still get the error. It does seem to affect data. One thing is for certain I can not send text messages while on LTE..fails everytime..must use cmda only. And another thing battery seems to drain erractically at times.

I switched from LTE/CDMA to CDMA only mode. Service is pretty good now, Sprint's LTE coverage map in my area is pretty bad anyways. From what I have discovered we must wait for an updated RUU to get this error fixed. Did you flash an RUU at all?

No, I didn't flash a RUU. Currently on ViperMax. Tried MilesOne and SkyDragon. Same problem on all.
VDM Client has stopped unexpectedly
I flashed the Sprint 1.16.651.4 RUU and I still get the "VDM Client has stopped unexpectedly". Is there anyway to fix that?

Just caught in another forum that network unlocking your sprint Max (taken from directions for sprint One) causes that error. Replacing the original apk after unlocking fixes it. For those that flashed the ruu mayb replacing that apk will help also.
Which .apk would that be? Please explain more.

That thread says it is originally in /system/app. If you already replaced and didnt rename you could post a request in q&a asking someone with sprint for it.

Did you search at all on what I recommended? I do not have sprint so did not accomplish the unlock. There are possibly other steps besides just adding back the apk. Was just trying to pass on a nugget of info that could get someone fixed (if they do some legwork on their own).
I searched what you recommended. I also tried everything that I could find. But nothing worked.
I don't have sprint. Searched and found:

Are you replacing the vdm client apk or the one you change out for sim unlock?
I looked at all the links, updated prl, profile and still won't get rid of it

Dont know what to tell you. I will ping the person I got that info from before to see if he can track down his source exactly.
I have the sprint one max that is s-off and sim unlocked using at&t strait talk sim card and was getting that error on phone start up , used root explorer to extract HtcOMADM_SPCS.apk from stock rooted rom and replaced edited one used for sim unlock and haven't seen the vdm has stopped message since however MMS is not working on my phone but talk text and data with higher 4g speeds than i got on my htc sensation with a t-mobile sim from strait talk

SOLUTION: You need to call Sprint (from another phone - 1.888.211.4727) and tell them you can't call or text and you are getting the error "SMS Error - Radio Interface Resource Shortage - Cause Code: 64, Error Class: 2" They wil refresh you on the network, takes about 5 mins. Hope this helps
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone having this issue after Revolutionary? I NEVER had this problem before and it started happening to me even before I put my own ROM on. I cannot send ANY texts. I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem and what you did to fix it. Tried a wipe and reflash and still happening. Any ideas?
Also: Cause Code: 64 Error Class: 2
Your going to have to call Sprint. There is someone who asked how to manually do it, check the Q&A area for a thread called Manually reset or something like that.
I'dink link this to you, but I'm on the XDA App
Appreciate my help? Thank me
I'd get on the phone with Sprint, they probably can fix that easily. I'm sorry bud that sucks, I didn't have that problem and never have.

Hopefully that works for you. If not, last resort will be calling Sprint. They'll fix the problem.

I guess I will have to call Sprint. I tried the first code and it didn't work. Maybe the others would have but I'm going to bed now and I may just have Sprint deal with it in the morning
Driving my crazy. Does it constantly when connected to the air rave. Rebooted that thing 20 times.
Sent from my HTC Evo 3D.
Same thing happened to me after rooting. I was also unable to make calls or send SMS. Got the error code 16 when trying to make a call. I stayed on the line and was connected to a Sprint rep who told me they reset my info which fixes the problem. Told me to turn my phone off for 30 seconds then back on. calls and sms working again.
Sprint Rep was on the ball and new what to do as soon as he started talking. I assume they got a lot of these calls in the last 12 hours.
I'm not rooted or attached to an airave and I've been getting this error since I bought it yesterday ..becoming more and more disappointed with this thing

it can only fix by contacting sprint
same thing happen when i got s-off, i just got off from chatting on sprint and they fix the problem i told them the issue and they asked me to turn off my phone and take out the battery then she asked me to turn it back on and and to dial this number 1888 546-0348 and then voice prompt said "your phone is now activated" and now its working fine
it happened to me too after I did s-off. I could not get my sms working and did reset and everything. I ended up flashing the stock image available here in the forums. I guess I will wait for the tool to get out of beta and if not just wait for htc unlock. OK fail on my part, I just checked this morning and my calls are still not working lol. I need to call sprint I guess.

I was flashed to ROCKO unlocked, and decided that I want to update my sprint stuff cause I wasn't able to on any custom stock ROM, it would stay on "Contacting Network" when I would try to update. So I SBF'd to 198_7 and unlocked again, and I am still not able to update my data profile or prl, still the "Contacting Network". My phone is activate, it just can't update profile/prl.
If I recall correctly, you have to have sprint push the profile update to you. I've read that people, who do stuff like switch roms get flagged in every their system. I think it was something asking the lines of security precaution. I'm pretty sure once you call, they can get your profile updated, then you should be able to update your prl.

^This exactly. Give sprint a ring. If thats still a no go try letting it activate and update through the Sprint Zone activation and updater app.
Thanks guys.
Would I have to lie and tell them that I never root or unlocked the bootloader/flashed other ROMS?
I've looked everwhere in Sprint Zone, and can't find the updater.
I personally have just told them that I was doing an OTA update and it had an issue or something along those lines lol they wont question too much, or atleast never have for me
IDK, I have trouble lying when it doesn't make sense lol. Could I mention that I'm trying to develops apps and need certain permissions etc. ?

Similar Problem Updating Profile/PRL
I am unrooted and for some reason when I go into the Sprint Zone App it tells me there is a Profile and PRL update but if I choose either it gets stuck in "Contacting Network" and all I can do is reboot.
I spoke to Sprint and they made me out an "eTicket" to take to the nearest Sprint "repair" store but I am without wheels at the moment and kinda hoping someone might know whats going on.
The lady I spoke to said that these was a problem with the nearest tower to me, that it was operating at 3/4 efficiency, and that may be why I can't get my phone to update? Has anyone been told this before and is this something that could be the problem or is it just BS?
She said that most likely I would get a replacement when I could take my phone to the Sprint store.
Someone had a similer problem in another thread and a got a reply from someone asking what their H/W version number was. On my phone under H/W version it says unavailable.
Why would that happen and if I could somehow fix that might that be the ultimate fix to my issue?
Any help would be great...This is really the only problem I'm having. I really like this phone. It is a beast. Being in a 4g area is pretty awesome and being able to get constant 8-10 Mb (outside) is worth every penny. In my house during daytime hours I can only get 2-3 Mb but thats pretty damn cool.
If the camera was just a little bit better at taking low-light pics, this might be one of those "near perfect" phones in my opinion.
By the way, everyone that contributes here is awesome. I love this community and all of XDA.
Thanks
Hello all,
First post on XDA; I've been searching for this issue for the past 4 hours, and found very little. I hope I haven't missed anything.
Long Story
Had a rooted phone, tried to flash JellyBAM; worked, except that kernel got messed up (touchscreen didn't work). Problem remained even after restoring HTC Sense. I assumed it was b/c my phone still had S-ON.
After successfully running DirtyRacun on my Evo 4g LTE, I flashed JellyBAM 7.6.2 (using TWRP 2.4.4.0, wiped Dalvik, Cache, Factory Reset & System first). Everything worked fine, except that there is no mobile network whatsoever. When booting JellyBAM, it prompts me to activate my phone:
"A special call needs to be made to activate your phone service. After pressing 'Activate', listen to the instructions provided to activate your phone."
I do this, but the problem is that I get an automated message: "Your account is not authorized to make calls to this phone number. If you would like to have additional capabilities added to your account, please call Customer Service."
This is the same message I get trying to make any phone call. Nothing (data, calls, etc) works on the mobile network now. I called Sprint to see if they could simply de-active then reactive my phone, but it appears to them as already activated. The tech I spoke w/ thinks I may have deleted the Sprint programming.
This sounds plausible, but what's REALLY WEIRD is that *2 still dials Sprint perfectly, and holding 1 still tries to check voicemail. So clearly some aspects of it connect with Sprint still. I have no idea what's messed up, unfortunately.
I don't believe JellyBAM is the culprit here, b/c after DirtyRacun but before flashing JellyBAM, I still had this problem.
Helpful Info
Android Version: 4.2.2
Radio Version: 1.12.11.1119
Kernel version: 3.0.73-g5d13a2c
JellyBAM 7.6.2
Question
Is there anything I can do to fix this so that my phone can reconnect with and use Sprint's mobile network? I'd really like to preserve JellyBAM, S-Off, and Root, given the amount of time and effort it took to get those working. Thank you so much, any help would be greatly appreciated.
First, try updating your radio.
I'd say to RUU back to stock and see if the problem persists. If it does then take it to Sprint and they should give you a replacement if you have the YEP. I had a similar but not so screwey situation, a few actually, like yours and when I lost all network Sprint replaced my phone. I've always had success dialing my voicemail after attempted activations and then my phone would kick back in within about 15 minutes while keep texting and calling my home phone.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate the help.
I updated my radio, which went smoothly, but unfortunately it didn't work. What's frustrating is that I don't even know what the problem is. I know it isn't the ROM I flashed (since it had the same problem on HTC Sense before I flashed JellyBAM). It seems to have started after DirtyRacun S-Off process.
I'm still pretty noob so I don't know what else besides radio it could be. I'm really reluctant to try and restore my phone to stock due to the amount of time I spent learning to root and S-Off it. Wouldn't want that to be in vain, though I might not have a choice at this point.
Is there something I should try next?

So I have the vDM client error. I have tried flashing the stock RUU but nothing seems to help. When I boot the phone the error message says "unfortunately vDM client has stopped unexpectedly" it pops up once then goes away without me touching anything. I have tried updating my PRL and Profile still to no avail. My 4G, Wifi and 3G all still work but the signal is sloppy most of the time now. I can still make calls and receive texts. I have also contacted Sprint and they gave me some bs about the cell tower being messed up in my area. It has been 6 weeks and it is still not better. I don't know what to do anymore there is very little info on this problem at all and why it happens. Please help me if you can. I am pretty tech savvy but this is one thing that has got me puzzled.
Were you able to find a fix ?
I have a Sprint m8 and its doing exactly the same,
Sprint gave me the same story about towers being down but my wife and kids phones are fine.
I ran a full RUU that did absolutely nothing.
TIA

Not sure how, but after running the full RUU and factory reset again I was still having issues but after I flashed custom recovery and multirom data started working again...and has been fine since...so...ya
Im having trouble with my lg g3. It was on the sprint network before and my data worked fine, even after a factory reset.. But i had to do a full flash of the stock rom and now im getting no data whatsoever. Usually when the phone booted up it would say sprint. Now it just says lg and boots up. I can still make calls and text. Ive tried a bunch of different apns and still no luck. Ive talked with my current provider and he said contact the manufacturer. Now the manufacturer said go to my provider and send it through for service.
If theres a fix for this i would love to know instead of sending my phone away..
Lg g3 ls990.
