You can't flash the hboot cuz you're locked, s-on. Factory reset in the bootloader should do the trick tho. Just confirm you have a working os before doing it.

Factory reset in bootloader
Hey no this isnt going back for warranty claim. I'm no longer on verizon and use prepaid . I tried factory reset in bootloader and it still has broken wifi...should i try possibly facepalm method to unlock? I know for sure my cid is vzw__01 so i dont think that cid apk exploit works.
Do you have custom recovery? If so, try a different Rom

Use one of our soff methods to get unlocked moonshine should work. Then soff and properly follow the son guide to stock and see if wifi is working if it's not it's probably hardware issue.

I had, stucked too with same case yesterday.
But, now. I can use the radio(except mobile data). The Radio can be use because i flashed using facepalm s-off. This is the command while i flash it(enter bootloader):
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip PL8320000-DNA.zip
fastboot flash boot DNA-rescue.img
fastboot reboot
enter recovery
clear cache & delvic cache
reboot to system
Hope, these step can solve your problem!
Unfortunately this step can't update my s-on at bootloader. Any opinions?

I recently ran revolutionary on a HTC Thunderbolt, and the process finished...It is now S-off. I installed CWM, and was going to install SU and flash a ROM. But the volumes keys don't work with any consistency so I could not maneuver. It eventually tried to update itself OTA and the phone bricked. It would shut down right after it booted up, I then flashed and old RUU, and now have no recovery. I am completely frustrated with this Phone, what can I do. I have tried flashing TWRP recovery, but it just installs over and over, I need to install a recovery and at this time are unable to do so.I am still running a stock ROM, but I am S-off, Is it possible to flash a ROM out of bootloader, as that is all I can access right now. IS their a Linux unbricker for this phone, as there is for others.
Currently it freezes on the HTC splash screen, and when I can get into the bootloader, I can not access recovery or any other options except HBOOT
Have you tried installing a recovery using ADB, and then downloading a Rom on your pc, copy to your SD, and then install from the recovery you pushed to it? Not sure if that's how you tried installing the recovery or not..

Don't know how, but I would try anything.
Now that I think more on it that probably won't work.. I'm not too familiar with ADB pushing and such but that might be the way to flash a different Rom in hboot. Try looking into the thunderbolt tool from the development section and see if there's anything I'm that program that could help you

Doesn't the phone have to actually be able to boot in to the ROM to use the Thunderbolt tool, it just freezes as the Splash screen
I'm not sure. The tool is a program you install on your computer. I've personally never used it before, haven't had the need. In one of the screen shots there is a "unbrick menu" followed by coming soon but I'm not sure if it's been updated or not. There is also a recovery installer menu

It is possible to flash a ruu following the same steps
Sent from my Thunderbolt using xda app-developers app
I was able to flash the latest ClockworkMod but it still won't boot, I flashed the RUU back to stock, but is still sticks at the splash screen, but it does skip the HBOOT each time, since I have a protected HBOOT from revolutionary when I rooted the phone and got to s-off.
I have to figure out out how to install a stock HBOOT and start over from what I read.
Sorry I couldn't have been more help, that's everything that I can think of. Good luck!
Sent from my Thunderbolt using xda app-developers app
I have a solution...I was able through ADB to roll back the HBOOT to the non protected mode that it was put in when I rooted the phone, and was able to flash a Stock recovery through ADB. I then rooted the phone and gained s-off which gave me control once again.
I think when he took the OTA it wiped out his recovery & root.
I am just glad that I got it fixed.
Long story short, had a party at my house. The phone was stolen and wiped, OS entact, then sold on craigslist. Whoever bought it on craigslist, soft bricked it. Returned it to the seller who then found out it was mine and returned it. It was retrieved by my sister and was returned to me with the Splash Screen on with the red HTC developer warning at the bottom. Good news, phone is back. Bad news, its soft bricked.
So i go through a few of my options.
1) Recover a NANDROID
Internal SD completely wiped and External is missing
2) Load a NANDROID that I had saved on the computer onto a buddies external SD and recover
Loads to Splash Screen, goes to blank and returns to splash infinitely
3) Try the new DirtyRacun S-OFF
Cannot move past Step 13 because of symptom from #2 above. So now Im thinking that this may be because this method puts the original RUU on the device. I had CM on it at the time, which was flashed using Flash GUI, Im assuming the CM Kernal is still on the device and the Stock RUU wont match with the CM Kernal.
4) Flash CM
Same symptom as #2
At this point all I can do is ask the masters on the XDA forums (all you guys). The forums have totally helped me in the past but this is my first post. So, Im not to a noob to rooting and its involved processes, but, by no means am I an expert. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Some other things that may help are this I have a feeling that the Internal SD may be unmounted but Im not sure. I am unlocked and S-ON I was running a recent nightly CM flashed using Flash GUI. My recovery is TWRP 2.2. Also, Ive tried to search for soultions on the forums but havent found anything similar to my particular situation. If i could get a reference to different post that would be awesome too.
might try the recovery tool from original dev section
it was looking like a good resource for soft bricked phones.
since there's the racun s-off now you could maybe dev-re-lock and do the official ruu to 2.13 just to get to complete stock and a working phone
Also could try flashing stock pj75img from bootloader and starting fresh. I had to do this once when my system partition corrupted on me somehow and it saved my butt. It will overwrite anything left on your phone, kernel included.

what would that involve. i only know how to flash stuff from recovery. how would you do it from the bootloader.?
If you are on 1.12 bootloader use this link to dl, rename file to pj75img.zip only, place on an external sdcard and reboot to bootloader. Bootloader will automatically find the pj75img.zip and ask if you want to update, follow directions from there (it could take a bit and will reboot a few times and even look like it's doing the same thing over again) let it do its thing reboot and voila... Back to working stock.. If you are on a newer bootloader you will have to search for pj75img.zip that matches your loader (1.15 or 1.19) I'm at work or I'd look for the others.. Good luck bud, hope it helps..

Could you elaborate on this? I tried signing up for an HTCdev account last night to S-OFF my phone and never got the email. I relocked my phone while following Unlimited's instructions and than never was able to get an HTCdev account so I just had to set my phone back up but did not reroot it or put a recovery back on. Now I'm thinking about just doing all of the OTA updates and getting my phone completely up to date than do the S-OFF and root it once I finally get an HTCdev account.
I have the stock 3.16 rooted. Rooting went fine, the only problem I had was with ROMing. Right now there is a problem with TWRP 2.4.1.0, it wont write the kernel. TWRP 2.4.0.0 and below wont work on the stock 3.16 as the touch interface is broken due to a screen driver update.

I would hold off on the OTA update right now. I did just that and almost bricked my phone this last weekend. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37549636 for details. Sprints OTA will bypass 3.15 and take you straight to 3.16.

I wasnt able to use TWRP at all. I had to use CWM recovery. you could also use fastboot to flash a ROM, but I don't think any ROM's except for the stock ROM will work with the OTA 3.16 because of the touch screen issue. You can have a custom recovery, just not TWRP. There is a version of CWM recovery that will work: *removed* page 5 and on for details.
The CWM recovery is what worked for me. Only thing that can throw you off guard is in CWM recovery you have to use the camera button as your enter button. The power button is the 'go back' action.
The command from fastboot is: Fastboot flash zip (name of SU zip). Though, I am new to this myself so running this fastboot method by a senior hackster might be best.

Just for clarification, you ran the 3.15 then accepted the OTA from HTC which brought you to 3.16 correct? I ask because if you are on 3.15 you can use the older TWRP with no problems

So what does that mean you can't flash a recovery? Did you try running the RUU?
I'm pretty sure what I pushed was an ruu it said all kinds of stuff was installing it was an 2.0.6 maybe it wasn't an ruubut just the update but every time I try to use adb it won't find the device

So you know I can wipe the entire device including formatting the recovery, boot, system whatever doesn't matter as long as hboot is in place. As long as I can boot hboot I can recover it as well. Its difficult to trash the device as long as hboot works. Most of these problems are related to the drivers not being installed properly. Most users say they already know this but I'm gonna say it anyway fastboot and adb use different drivers.

An RUU is a windows .exe that you well run from windows. It will restore the device to factory but you wont loose S-Off. Once S-Off always S-off.

If you have windows try the 1.15 RUU from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293919
But you need to check your drivers and make sure you have the correct on loaded in Hboot or it wont work. You may also need to flash the ENG-Hboot before you can restore with the RUU. I don't have a windows machine here so I can't tell you exactly what the driver is but I think its something like composite fastboot device or something (when in hboot).
I can't get into the internal sd to move that file unless I can adb push it somehow

Did you relock and s-on with a custom recovery already on the phone? Or a custom boot.img?

You know there are guides here that outline every step needed to return to stock. Had you found and used the guide you wouldn't be in this predicament.

It's not something you flash...
I did the revone s off so when I got my new one I would know what to do it was simple and then did the s on but it still said s off and locked so I did the s off and tried to or did install twrp from goo manager but I thought the install was to fast but it rebooted into recovery and it didn't fit the screen so I wiped everything and tried to go back to stock and this happens
Edit I'm running the ruu now the phone it stopped and says the Rom update utility cannot update your android phone please get the correct Rom update utility and try again

Hi I am needing some help with my phone. i soft bricked it a while back and it has been stuck in a bootloop ever since.
Important things to know.
it is ***locked***
monarudo pvt ship s-on
hboot-1.33.0001
radio-1.01.04.0308
OpenDSP-v6.120.274.0114
eMMC-boot
okay so i have tried using the RUU on my phone but it is giving me the error 158 because it says i don't have to correct ruu for my phone. secondly i get the FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail) error when i try to flash anything in in fastboot. so everywhere i have seen someone post about this they are told to try to go to s-off using moonshine but the problem is that my phone will only connect to fastboot and not to bootloader so i can't use ADB which you have to use to work with moonshine. if i could please get some help on this it would be greatly appreciated.
First thing first I'm guessing u have no ROM on your phone. Sense u in a bootloop?

no it was never rooted nor did it have a custom rom
if i go to recovery it bootloops, if i go to factory reset it bootloops, it is honestly acting like there is no rom and no recovery there at all. the only thing it will connect with my computer with is the fastboot and even then it won't let me flash anything in and it won't accept the RUU. i am just incredibly confused.

Are u sure it's never been rooted with a custome recovery or did this happen while trying to root/soff? Because what ur saying doesn't add up. I had a similar problem awhile back while trying to flash a Rom. It kept failing over and over. On my last attempt the recovery crashed and somehow became corrupt. So I was stuck with hboot and had nowhere to go. I ended up fastbooting a new recovery & downgrading hboot to the one compatible with the only RUU available.
You need to downgrade the hboot and then RUU. Then you can moonshine.

That's what I'm saying. Did u buy it on a site or from someone because pretty sure there is no possible way it could just have no ROM.

yes i am pretty sure it failed during trying to flash moonshine. i have tried to flash things in as i stated above but nothing will go in because it is saying its not the correct signature.

The link ThayIO provided is basically what I did.
If you are unlocked the command is: fastboot flash recovery (drag & drop the recovery image into the command window) and press enter.

Sounds like you guys are screwed. Had the same issue and claimed warranty on the device. Until a new RUU leaks i think you are stuck having to go the JTAG route. I dont think theirs any other fix unfortunately

like i said i am unsure on the exact details. it just doesn't make sense that i can't use my bootloader and then my fastboot commands are pretty much useless.. if i only had a way to flash in a recovery or the stock hboot it would work
Your only option is to achieve s-off. You can't do anything in fastboot without it. Until then your SOL
