just flash Siyah kernel via Odin. You don't need root access to do that

You need root access first before you can flash a kernel via recovery (factory recovery).
I'll advise you to just flash the kernel via Odin.
However, If you still want to use the recovery option I can post a link for you.
You can always flash updates via Odin. Much faster.

Is the phone working after the failed flash, or not?
you can also flash cwm recovery(only) from odin separately and then superuser.zip from that recovery.

My phone still working it turns on all good god bless and hope my phone will not brick cause I know what it is. I have bricked my galaxy note several times and the last time was really bad cause I have done with factory reset and it hard bricked. The Galaxy s3 is an amazing phone love it so much I really want to gain best out of it too. I'm running on jelly bean XELLA 4.1.2 for a while now I want 4.2.2 jelly bean, but before I have to root this jelly bean 4.1.2 XELLA
no, you don't have to root to install 4.2.2

So I flash cwm recovery via odin and then flash a custom rom with cwm?? Wow nice
Heyyy, so i just came back to android and felt like flashing some kitkat roms so as to enjoy those cool features kitkat offers..i'm currently running stock 4.1.2 JB.
as far as im concerned, first i should flash a rooted+cwm kernel through odin (which i flashed latest siyah for JB)... that went smooth and i got rooted and got cwm, problem is when i want to actually install any rom... I continually get "installation aborted" and the only way to make my phone usable again is to flash a stock firmware through odin.
any ideas ? thanks !
PD: I tried installing the "kitkat cwm compatible" thingy both through odin and through cwm, it did flash correctly, but phone fails to boot. if you dont get this last thing.. its this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546597
hope anyone out there can give me a hand since im tired of running stock :'(
check the OP again
have you read the OP before flashing KK custom rom. maybe u miss some part to flash it.
You can flash philz kernel on to of your stock JB to get root and recovery (no need to use Odin, you can flash through standard recovery). Then do a backup of your rom and after that flash a cwm-recovery >6.0.4.x (this is needed to be able to install s KitKat ROM). Boot directly after flashing into that recovery, wipe system and data and install KitKat.

I've got more information there.
Do you know what firmware you installed?
Or you can flash dorimanx kernel through Odin. It also gives you root access. Download this:
Kernel_Dorimanx-V8.43-[12-21]-[24-10]-TAR-FOR-ODIN.tar
If you don't know how to flash it through Odin, look in the op of the dorimanx kernel thread. Just above the download links it's explained.
After that follow the instructions from AndDiSa by flashing a kitkat compatible cwm etc.

Done.
Just dropping the new FXXU1POF2 base for devs to use. It's pre rooted, deodexed with init.d and busy box, feel free to use it as you please.
If anyone wants to flash it they will need the matching NON-HLOS.bin which I'll upload later

I can make a tar file for the bootloader but only the non-hlos.bin is needed for it to boot.
If the devs don't update their bases I'll add a few mods to it myself

I'm a bit confused about this version. I have downloaded the official N910FXXU1POF2_N910FNEE1POF2_N910FXXU1POF1_HOME.tar.md5. Can I flash this on my SM-N910F with odin? Or has this version a different PIT? Help would be appreciated.
Update : Used Dr. Ketan's L3 version. Works perfectly. Thanks!!!
It seems, that this ROM is using a different Root method, because after installing SuperSU no permissions can be granted to apps anymore. Have to reflash ROM.

Root access needs to set grant then it is known issue of supersu 2.46
It also have selinux issue. Check supersu if it is 2.46 then get beta supersu 2.49.zip from chain fire site and flash all should be good.

So Guys I updated to latest OTA for my G925i and then I couldnt install TWRP or root my phone due to samsung's updated security policy.
So I figured out the solution: I am not responsible if you brick your device.
1) Download this file: (everything is provided in this single folder, you dont need to download anything else)
https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0Bx_Jdi5sUtwCTUFBcmk2NGFNaHM&export=download
2)Unzip it.
3)Copy UPDATE-SuperSU & Arter97 kernel to your phone.
4)Boot your phone into download mode.
5)Open odin and select "BL" & select the file named sboot (from my folder)
6)Goto option in odin and then deselect AutoReboot.
7)Then Select Start.
8) Once you see "Pass" in Odin, Select twrp file in "AP" and then start. (Make sure that auto reboot is deselected)
9)Once it is completed, manually boot your device into recovery mode. (Press and hold vol. down + Home + Power button untill your screen turns off, once the screen is turned off, quickly swap the volume down button with volume up with home and power button pressed.)
10)It will boot you into TWRP and then just flash the SuperSU & arter97 that you copied to your phone.
11)Clear cache, Reboot and Enjoy!!!
NOTE:- This is only for G925i. Using it with other models may brick your phone.
You can use other kernels if you dont want to use arter but if you get the boot loop then please flash the arter kernel.
Thanks a lot.
May I know what are the versions of SuperSU, TWRP, Bootloader and Modem for your files?
I'm assuming :
SuperSU = v2.66 Beta
TWRP = v2.8.7.2
Bootloader and Modem = DOL5
Am I right?

i have done rooting my s6 with dol5 using 2.66 and twrp u specified very earlier but the issue was that the root was not stable... so refleashed the stock firmware and quit rooting....
actually i dod not flashed any kernel i just flashed the twrp and and then the supersu zip and i was rooted so if the root was unstable what can be the reason??? can it be that i did not flashed the specified kernel???

Hi! Again, thank you for your post. Very useful for me. I would like to contribute sharing with you the change that I had to do in your tutorial: After flash sboot I couldn't flash twrp (odin couldn't finish the process), so I inserted a new step (between step 7 and 8) that was restart the bootloader after flash sboot and finally odin worked fine flashing twrp.
By the way, do you have tips about how root other devices in DOL5, like G920I? It will be a mistake only change the kernel file to G920I?
i was wondering when the ping ping root will be available for g9201...any ideas?

The sboot disables the recovery check, so it is required. But it may not be fully compatible with latest kernel/ROMs.
