[SOLVED] Im having a hard time installing kitkat roms, helppp - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Heyyy, so i just came back to android and felt like flashing some kitkat roms so as to enjoy those cool features kitkat offers..i'm currently running stock 4.1.2 JB.
as far as im concerned, first i should flash a rooted+cwm kernel through odin (which i flashed latest siyah for JB)... that went smooth and i got rooted and got cwm, problem is when i want to actually install any rom... I continually get "installation aborted" and the only way to make my phone usable again is to flash a stock firmware through odin.
any ideas ? thanks !
PD: I tried installing the "kitkat cwm compatible" thingy both through odin and through cwm, it did flash correctly, but phone fails to boot. if you dont get this last thing.. its this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546597
hope anyone out there can give me a hand since im tired of running stock :'(

check the OP again
have you read the OP before flashing KK custom rom. maybe u miss some part to flash it.

You can flash philz kernel on to of your stock JB to get root and recovery (no need to use Odin, you can flash through standard recovery). Then do a backup of your rom and after that flash a cwm-recovery >6.0.4.x (this is needed to be able to install s KitKat ROM). Boot directly after flashing into that recovery, wipe system and data and install KitKat.

I've got more information there.
Do you know what firmware you installed?
Or you can flash dorimanx kernel through Odin. It also gives you root access. Download this:
Kernel_Dorimanx-V8.43-[12-21]-[24-10]-TAR-FOR-ODIN.tar
If you don't know how to flash it through Odin, look in the op of the dorimanx kernel thread. Just above the download links it's explained.
After that follow the instructions from AndDiSa by flashing a kitkat compatible cwm etc.

You dont seem to know the basics pal.The stock rom he linked contains kernel/modem/rom so have a guess what happens when you flash them to your phone.

TBH we all have to find out the info at some point and this is my time to find out.
True, but you have to know the basics before flashing or else youll be the one with the non working phone.
Eg.If you had read a little bit about nand backups, you could have your phone back to how it was in 5 mins, before you messed with other roms.
So once you have your rooted phone to your liking you make a backup. Then if you try another rom and dont like it, boot into cwm and restore your backup in 5 mins.

It could be that the zip download is corrupted. Try re-downloading and flash again.
If not, flash Siyah v4 kernel via recovery or odin then try flashing desired rom again.

What aborted? Flashing the newly downloaded rom or flashing Siyah via ODIN and then trying to flash rom again?
If you cant flash rom after you have Siyah kernel installed then as mentioned above you will need to try and restock via ODIN.

Bad reception

I belive that after installing the AOKP jellybean rom and kernel my reception went really bad, now I have installed the 4.1.2 stock firmware and I still have the same reception...

Next time read before doing things!
Before flashing a kitkat rom you had to flash a kitkat compatible cwm.
Search for this and flash it. After that reboot into recovery and flash beanstalk.
And next time, please read.

Dorimanx kernels can't flash kitkat roms without changing the updater-script. If you don't know how you can change the updater-script, flash the kitkat compatible CWM before flashing beanstalk.

Read the threads of your rom and the kernel you want. Find out what Android and Mali version your rom is using and find the kernel that you need. If you don't know what your doing, stick to the kernel that comes with the rom.
Why do you want to unroot it? Of you want an other custom rom you need to root it again. You can't root it for some apps and unroot it for the other.
