Launcher malware? - Themer General Discussion

Avast says: "Launcher has been reported as malware (Android:Gappusin-BL [Trj])." And Fakeapp, SMSZombie, Ginmaster, Agent, Kiser, SMSSend and so on...
What is this? Should I be worried?

same here,
google play store and other , it's a general bug.
on avast forum they should uninstall and reinstall it

Just tried scanning. Got to 50 apps and Avast reported 50 problems. Cancelled and uninstalled.
I still think the best antivirus is common sense and responsible use of internetz. But just in case, I'll install Avast again.

i reinstall it and see that avast has delete the last viral definition update, my last is from two days.
so you may solve the problem by reinstalling it

Hi,
Themer doesn't contain any forms of malware/viruses/etc. This may be due to other apps on your phone, but we can assure you that Themer is safe :good:

I never had any doubts about Themer, but was afraid that some other app had infected my phone
Fortunately it was just Avast acting up. Problem solved. :good:

oh ya you are right.Forgot about should not run 2 Anti Virus Programs
As per my understanding, GSU (Galaxy Security Update) is just a security update which keeps your phone safe from viruses, trojans & other malware. It is NOT an anti virus program like the AVG Anti Virus. You cannot open or run the GSU...it will just show you the version when clicked, nothing else will happen. It remains in the background. It's something which you can compare with the Windows Security updates that you regularly get from Microsoft. I don't think there is any harm in installing it on our phones, unless proven otherwise. I'm keeping it for the time being.

TheMegaStar already cleared the confusion. Both are not same. One is antivirus and another is security update.
So both can stay together happily
GSU has been a nice and quiet background app, hopefully doing some good on my SGS2.
However after the ICS update, it's been bugging the system. The phone "hangs" quite often and after ca 30sec. an error message appears saying GSU has stopped.
It is no longer listed in my apps and I don't see a way of removing the thing..
Any ideas anyone?

[Q] Help Leadboltads virus on Galaxy S4

Hi All
Since a day I have a sort of leadbolt virus that opens my browser and shows the website like below:

This happens when I download something from the playstore or when I delete apps.
It Makes crazy and I have tried some things alrdy so fix it without any succes.
- Downloaded and installed virusscannen, no succes
- Downloaded and installed ad detector, found a app with leadbolt, deleted it but didn't solve the problem
Hopefully someone can help me too fix this annoying problem

I'm also having the problem and have not found a solution yet.
The only difference for me is I have adaway installed so the webpage never gets to display. Just opens the browser.
I've tried different ad detector apps from google play, but nothing is fixed this problem. Almost ready to reflash the rom and start from scratch.
UPDATE: I fixed the problem.
When the browser hijacking occurred, it happened after installing or updating a program from any source. Google Play, Amazon or a standalone APK. That meant the virus had control over my installer.
Using Lookout's Ad Detector, I identified some potential culprits (Go Launcher EX being at the top of the list) and uninstalled them. That didn't work.
What actually fixed the problem was resetting the defaults for all the apps. Settings > More > Application Manager. Hit the menu key and choose Reset app preferences.
You don't loose any data. You just get prompted for choosing a default app when you run certain applications. I choose to use Lookout's installer instead of the default android installer when I got prompted to install updates.
Haven't had the issue since. Hope this helps.

Hi everybody. (First sorry for my english but I speak french)
This is a solution but it workn't very good.
After the downloading and installation from a update or a program, AndroƮd ask me if I want to finish the task with the default browser or Chrome ? So I can't see this f*cking page more but I must always put my choice between the 2 browsers.
I thank you for your solutions....

Lookout Security & Antivirus found mine in ChargeBar Free Edition,
ChargeBar came embedded in the NottachTrix 2.3.0 ROM.
I installed it (NottachTrix) and it (ChargeBar) didn't update for 3 months, then, BANG.
I've deleted ChargeBar's update, moved it from system apps to apps, deleted it, and the browser pop open 'ad.leadboltads.net' still persists.
Lookout Security & Antivirus can not find the new location of the malware, they do not have a forum.
By the very definition and behaviour, this is malware, and, ChargeBar (Asgard Casino Apps) is involved in the distribution of malware.
Asgard Casino Apps distributes 34 apps that behave this way.
They are using Google to distribute this malware, abet, that app is benign in its origin, its a pipeline, or conduit for malware.
Sneaky F##kers aren`t they.........
#1) I would like to get this crap off my phone.
#2) I need to bring this to Google's attention, and have the developer and apps banned from the Play store.
Sooo, starting with #1,,,how do I get this crap off my phone!
NOTE:
I will be linking to this post in the NottachTrix post, I'm asking the developers to to move ChargeBar from the ROM zip.

Need help to uninstall CleanMaster

Hi there,
Does anybody know which app makes a pop-up with the legend "Available 76% 436M Released 116 RAM" and a broom icon" (i couldn't post image).
I used CleanMaster some time and uninstalled it, but seems to be it has something to do with bad or incomplete uninstallation of this app. It makes it lag so much and i think its causing malfunction of others apps. I wish i could disable or completely uninstall it. Any ideas?
My smartphone is Samsung S5 SM-G900-T (android 4.4.2)
Thanks in advance.
Maximiliano.
Flash original ROM with kies. Probably it will also be deleted.

First try searching for clean master(com.cleanmaster.mguard) residual files under-
1./sdcard
2./sdcard/android/obb
3./sdcard/android/data
If you find any, then deleted them
Then goto settings>storage and clear cache
Hope this solves your problem,
If not then you can go for factory reset
Regards,
milkyway3
it seems that CM app is allowed for admin rights ...
try untick cm on device administrators section ( u cannot uninstall if its admin app )
please verify it once
cm also installs other 3rd party apps
try to identify them
hope it helps

Downloads/ updates stop if play store gets cleared from recent apps

This is a very strange bug. I was updating PUBG and cleared the recent apps before going to bed only to wake up in the morning and see it not completed. I tried multiple times but the same happened. So I can conclude that the download manager gets "EXITED/STOPPED" by clearing play store from the recent apps. This shouldn't happen as download manager is an integral part of the android system and it's functioning shouldn't have anything to do with exiting the store.
Is anyone else having this problem. Kindly comment below.

I don't think you get my query. This is what happens:-
1. I update/download an app on the Play Store
2. I clear recent apps including the play Store
3. This freezes/ stops the update/ download.
So I guess that clearing the store from the recent apps also somehow closes the download manager. This shouldn't happen.
That's the problem I faced too none of aps including play store run in the background. If recent tabs is cleared the apps stops working

Did you find any solution ?
I have a solution:
STOP CLOSING APPS.
You are destroying your performance and battery life by doing this. ONLY close apps if they're malfunctioning. It does NOT make your phone faster to clear apps.
I thought this crap was put to rest years ago, wow.

Clearing recent apps doesn't necessarily mean closing the app especially for a system app like download manager.

That's exactly what it does, actually. It doesn't just "hide" then - it calls onDestroy (sometimes, it's not guaranteed) and disposes the activity, so next time you run it it has to be recreated from scratch again.
But yes, you are at least correct in that it shouldn't terminate any associated services. Maybe that's an MIUI "feature" of closing the apps.
But my point still stands - you shouldn't close recent apps unless necessary. Any Google result will tell you this, it's mainstream knowledge these days.
If you can't help yourself, see a doctor for OCD treatment. It's a 6GB device for God's sake, you will open 100 apps and still not run out of RAM. No it will not make PUBG FPS better. No it will not make your device switch apps faster. It does ONLY harm.

Damn!! People clearing their recent apps have OCD. Really ? I've been using android phones for years. My previous phones had 365 apps installed in it and I had to use almost 50 to 70 or more of them daily. The thing is most if not all android apps have background services and these services do NOT get stopped even if you clear recent apps while other apps just get cached to the RAM and they too don't stop by recent apps clearing. And then there are wakelocks and GCM which are the reasons for apps giving you notifications and things like that. I can go on but I think you get the point by now.
I clear apps because I just like to see a clean UI. I know that these apps don't just get stopped by this. If I really wanted to stop an app I'd do it for saving battery and NOT for saving RAM and I'd use advanced apps like greenify and wakelock detectors for this because clearing apps won't stop these apps. Some apps just prevent the device from going to deep sleep and this is the reason for overnight discharge on most phones.
Peace.

I think the problem is with big apps. Whenever I install a small size app maybe upto 100 MB, it gets installed without any problems but whenever I tried to install/update a large app like PUBG, it never gets completed giving errors like error 495. Today it stopped at almost 1.05 GB. I'll check and see if I can find a fix.

But this shouldn't happen on stock Android though.. Even on iOS swiping out apps from recents doesn't mean the user wants to force stop it. Xiaomi designing it's skin to do this is really counterintuitive. Because of this we are having all sorts of problem like this and messaging apps not receiving notifications in the background.

After a few days of use, I don't think that is the case. I tried multiple downloads/ updates from the store and cleared recent apps but they continued without any freezes or stops. The problem appears when I install/ update a large sized app like PUBG. It'll go on for sometime and then just freeze and return an error. Last night it stopped at almost 1gb+ with an error code 495.

There is MIUI Optimization in Developer settings but i don't think it helps disabling it in this case.(it helps a little bit on scrolling performance BUT after 3-4 days it becomes slow again for me..I think MIUI's Touch response & Scroll performance is very bad compared to Stock/Neuxs 5... Correct me if it's only for me)
MIUI has very weird ram management which literally kills the apps & all the services when you clear it from recent and there's no way to stop this on MIUI from my past 2 weeks of experience and research

Notifications

My Gmail notifications are showing up intermittently in the status bar. I've checked the settings in the app and on the phone and all seem to be correct. I've also cleared the cache in the app but the notifications are still intermittent. If anyone has had this problem and know the fix I would appreciate yours and all other input. I am beginning to think it's related to the latest Gmail update.

Sorry...I meant to ask you what firewall you're using
AFwall firewall it needs root. you can use no-root firewall for non-rooted androids, it fakes a vpn connection and does filters, just as good really. google apps and services will be find a way to stealing your data no matter what you do.
