Hi, I have a Galaxy Player 4.0 that I rooted with SuperOneClick. It was working fine at first then a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that my PC no longer recognizes it as a device, it just charges when I plug it in. So, I looked around andn tried a few things:
Restarted it several times
Tried with all the different modes in USB settings
Tried with different cable
Tried with two other computers, a Mac Mini and a Win7 laptop
Tried to unroot, couldn't get that to work
Did a factory data reset
Nothing works. I can't remember anything I did since rooting that would cause this, except I installed the Samsung Kies driver on the PC. I can't remember if the USB mass storage was working after Kies. Does anyone have other ideas?
Bump. This is rather a big deal, as I cannot transfer files between my PC and Galaxy player in any way other than over WiFi, which does not work reliably. I don't have a microSD card adapter either.
You might want to check if anything related to samsung/android appears in the device manager. Alternatively, to use heimdall I use Zadig to switch from samsung's driver to libusb but it does show you everything connected to your computer via usb when you check the option to list all devices. You should try this with and without usb debuging enabled. If nothing shows up you know it id your player that is at fault.

Thanks,
The first time I plugged it in without USB debugging enabled nothing showed up, when I enabled USB debugging, in Zadig and Device manager there showed up an unknown device, trying to update driver in Device manager showed that it already had the best driver, and in zadig driver replacement failed. Now, when I plug it in, either with or without USB debugging enabled, nothing shows up anywhere. I have tried with other computers and other cables, and nothing works, so I am pretty sure it's the player. I am willing to to a complete factory system reset, but I don't know how.

I'm having the same problem with my rooted 5.0. Although it's not a huge problem for me (I use dropbox for file syncing) I would love to sort this out, let me know if your factory reset works!
You can find it in the Privacy section of the settings menu.

I suspect you have a faulty usb connector on your device, but it doesn't hurt to do a factory reset. But you might want to backup your data first Did you try to jerk the usb cable in your player? A loose/broken connector would explain all your problems. Even if it is a software problem, I can't see how to flash your device with the original firmware since you don't have a sdcard & usb doesn't work...
Btw, I was referring to zadig only to show the devices attached to your computer, not to change the driver!

Thanks, I only tried to change the driver because it showed no driver already installed. I have a bit of electronics background so I may crack it open and take a look at the connector. I already tried the factory reset in the privacy menu, but that only wipes data apparently, not the system. I do have an sd card, I just don't have an adapter to the PC.
EDIT: After wiggling the cable around a bit, it showed the USB icon in the status bar, so I clicked connect USB mass storage, but the computer still showed a badly installed driver and then after some more wiggling the icon disappeared, so I am pretty sure it's a problem with the connector. BTW, how would I flash the stock firmware to unroot?
Hi, i have a THL5000 with the following problem: usb connection to PC’s doesn’t work.
Although, charging from USB port works and USB OTG works.
But for some reason connecting the phone via usb cable to the pc won’t recognise the phone…
A sort history of phone mods and things I have done…
1. USB connection to pc worked fine with the original stock rom.
2. I rooted the phone with SP Flash Tools and installed a custom recovery and rom, again the USB connection to the PC worked just fine and everything else worked.
3. Afterwards I wanted to return to stock rom so I used SP Flash Tools and selected the option “Format All + Download”… everything went just fine, but when the phone rebooted the IMEI info were gone (rom working fine) and also I couldn’t connect via USB cable no more!
Charging the phone and USB OTG works fine, but I have tried connecting the phone to varius pc with varius os (linux, windows XP/Vista/7/10) but no PC recognizes the phone…
I have also tried downloading Android phone drivers to the PC’s but nothing, tried different usb cables and usb ports but nothing…
I have also tried using SP Flash Tools again but the pc doesn’t recognizes the phone so I’m stuck.
Any suggestions in fixing the mess I have made???
Hi,
My phone just starts into fastboot after a failed setup. I'm trying to recover it but it isn't being detected by my pc. I've tried a lot of USB cables and it is not working.
Even without the properly drivers it should appear at Windows Device Manager, right?
It appears that it is a hardware problem. Before that I've been unable to connect it with my PC, and I've ordered a USB board replacement. I've aleady replaced it, but it is not working.
Thanks.
Try with a deep flash cable or disconnecting the battery and connecting it again
Hi all,
I tried to flash the latest TWRP but for some reasons it's messed up. Now I can't enter recovery mode and just wondering if there is a way to re-install it.
I tried to do it via Fastboot mode but my PC(windows 10) can't recognize the phone when in Fastboot mode. I tried several ways(e.g. reinstall USB driver, remove / install driver via device manager, etc.) but no luck.
Any help/suggestion is appreciated.
Try with the original cable. It will work for sure. I had almost the same issue, tried various drivers, etc. Once I've connected the phone with its original cable, it was recognized instantly.
Strange, other people say, the original cable is bad quality??
I would use a different cable but an usb port on the mainboard no a front usb port.
Also i do all the adb und fastboot stuff on a linux machine, it's less struggeling with drivers then.
The original cable still works though, I'm not so sure what bad quality can that be... And yes, I haven't used it in these 3 years more than half of the time. In the past year I was using a 3m Ugreen cable which didn't do the trick for drivers, still working well.
However, with some changes in the kernel or whatsoever, the original cable doesn't charge the phone anymore while connected to the computer, but it ensures a good data transfer.
PS: USB type-C is more complex and not standardized for all manufacturers, which is a bit surprising, but that's it.

you need to format whole phone in oder to be recognized by pc.try first deleting all drivers for x2.go to windows in device manager, reboot pc and reconnect phone to pc by using usb type c cable
thank you for all the recommendations. I will try original cable and other PC using Linux and see if that works.
Update: My windows 10 PC installed the wrong driver when phone is in fastboot mode. Working fine now after deleting it from Device Manager and reinstalling.
Hello,
I have a LG Zone 3 phone (Verizon) and I'm unable to connect it to the PC for ADB. It's running Android 5.1.1. My PC host is Windows 10.
So far I've managed to enable Developers Options and USB Debugging already. In storage settings the USB connection is set to MTP currently. Sadly when I connect the cable to PC nothing happens (I've tried connecting other devices to the PC to rule out the cable problem and they run just fine, so I'm guessing it's not the cable). I've tried to install different versions of drivers but none of them worked, list of files and tools I've already went through:
adb-setup-1.4.3.exe (LGAndroidDriver_WHQL_ML_Ver_1.0_All_Win7.exe, LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN36AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.6.exe)
Android_Fastboot__mini_ADB_Drivers.7z
LG USB Drivers All Phone For Windows.rar
LG_Mobile_Driver_v4.8.0.zip (LG Mobile Driver v4.8.0.exe)
LGBridge_Setup.exe
LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.8.0.exe
LGUP_Ver_0_0_3_23.zip (LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_3_23.msi + LGUP_Install_Ver_1_14_3.msi)
UniversalAdbDriverSetup.msi
Still no luck. I got so lost right now that I don't know how to proceed. Please help me figure out which drivers exactly I need to use for the ADB to work with this device.
