Need advice for a new top - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i have to buy a new smartphone, i need a lot of Storage memory, easy root and unroot process with possibility to reset to stock and send the device for warranty, good game performance and compatibility, i'm thinking Google Nexus 5 32gb, Xperia Z1 or Xperia Z Ultra.
I read that on Z1 and Z ultra users can't move app to sd without root, will they implement this feature?
How does the google against rooted and unlocked device, there is a way to return stock, or obtain root privileges without unlock and touch anything, with all stock and continue receive ota?
Previously i've rooted my n7105 with framaroot, no counter flash, with this i was able to unroot easly with app, receive ota and restore root, without touch anything of stock, i'm looking for a similar experience device.
Thanks to all in advance!

[Q] New Xperia U Root

I bought a new Xperia U and I want to root it.
Can anyone advise what should I do? Update now for ICS, or do the root as it came from the factory.
Depends on what you would like to achieve by rooting. If you are planning to install custom ROM, better option is to unlock bootloader following the steps provided on sony website. If you are looking at apps requiring root access like titanium backup, try ready2root

[Q] Looking for Some Info on Rooting

Hey guys, I saw that it is now possible to root the Sonzy Z2 build 17.1.2.a.0.314.
I've seen a lot of posts about boot loaders, and TA partitions, and I don't really know what it means. So my question is this:
If I root my device, without unlocking the bootloader, will this have any adverse effects on my phone? So will I lose the ability to use the Sony stuff, or will my camera app stop working?
If any one could answer these questions it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance guys!
Rooting wont have any bad effects on your phone, it just means that apps that need root access can get it, you need root to backup the TA partition which is only lost if you unlock your bootloader, rooting means you will lose the OTA system updates but not OTA app updates in the update centre app. It wont affect the camera AFAIK.

[Q] Currenty, no 5.0 Root available, correct?

Hi, I recently purchased the GPE Z Ultra on ebay. The seller upgraded it to 5.0 before sending it to me and so far so good. But I am coming from a Note 2, rooted & loaded with a custom ROM (Goodness). I really want to root the Z Ultra but not load any custom rom, don't need it really. I've been reading up in the forum & so far, it looks like I am out of luck in regards to rooting, is this correct? There is no root available for 5.0 & I most likely will not be able to downgrade, root & then update to 5.0, correct? I just want to make sure I understand the current status of root availability and my status (already upgraded to 5.0 & no access to TA from previous version). This is my first nonSamsung Android phone & the rooting/unlocking bootloader is quite new to me, so I'm trying to learn all I can. Thank you all!
Correct. Without unlocking the bootloader, there is no way to root Android 5.0 - previous root methods exploited Android system security holes as opposed to boot process security holes, and so far no one has identified any root access vulnerabilities in Android 5.0.
I'm currently running rooted stock 5.0 OTA, but upgrading was rather painful and my bootloader is unlocked, which is what allowed me to flash a rooted 5.0 system image in the first place. I have a locked TA backup from 4.4.4, but I'm afraid to attempt a relock with it.
Unfortunately, I think you're out of luck if you want to retain your TA partition. Darn chicken and egg problems... You can't backup the TA without root. If a Lollipop vulnerability is discovered, we're likely to hear about it soon afterwards... That's a big "if" though.
Thanks, that's what I thought but wanted to confirm I wasn't missing anything. Hopefully, some sort of exploit will be found. Still getting used to the new Lollipop/GPE version. I like it so far except for missing some additional settings/tweaks I could use via root.

Upgrade to MM or Stick with Root - Which did you do and why?

Both have advantages, which did you choose and are you happy with the choice so far?
I'm definitely sticking with root until MM can be rooted. Too many useful apps for root to give up right now.
Kickin' it on my VS990
I'm sticking with Root, waited too long for it. Lots of benefits with root, wanam, adaway, titanium, etc. MM root will come soon enough, but if it doesn't I'm ok.
I went with MM. I prefer not to root my phone since it is an emergency device and I need it to work. I also did not want to void my warranty. I have never bricked a device rooting it, but did not want my LG V10 to be the first! . The other reason was I did not have any Android devices on MM, and this will probably be the only upgrade this phone sees!
Sticking with root until marshmallow can be rooted. I'm doubting that it can be done without a bumped recovery according to sources but lollipop was finally rooted after some time. I want marshmallow due to the permissions control built into the OS but will continue to wait for a little while before I give up root. My main use for root is no more ads and some other apps such as Casper and titanium backup.
Sent from my VS990 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I'm sticking with the benefits of LP root and I am willing to upgrade to MM...provided root is found.
Xposed
I updated due to the fact that my phone was pretty slow with root.

Help if possible

Hello,
Yesterday I rooted my z5c, and today i have gotten notification about Nougat update, so i wondered is there a way to update my phone and still have root access, if not can someone explain me what to do, and yeah I made a mistake as I am beginner and haven't backed up DRM keys is there any way to recover that, so far I haven't noticed that I lost anything but as I haven't backed it up I guess I lost it.
Thank you in advance, T1n3k!
If you're rooted, you shouldn't update with the Sony update functionality. I you want to update to another version, feel free and use XperiFirm/Flashtool. After doing that, you need to patch again to gain root access. If you browse through the top topics in this subforum, you'll find enough guides which can help you through the process.
Once you've unlocked your bootloader, you can't backup your DRM keys anymore. In fact that doesn't matter, because there's still the DRM-fix available. It gives you about the same functionality.
So I basicly do what I've done for this root with New firmware? And are you maybe able to send me link with DRM-fix, thank you for fast response!
