Deleted System apps keep reappearing - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi i have a generic android tablet from china (irulu 10.1 inch ax105 4.2.2) thats rooted via shuame and lets me delete apps only with titanium backup but they keep reappearing half an hour later or when the device is rebooted. when i try to delete with any other root app including es explorer it says the system is read only
im assuming the kernel doesnt allow the system to be modified from what ive found on similar threads so i need to flash a security disabled one, the problem is this tablet is obscure so theres literally no custom roms or custom kernels id be extremely grateful if anyone could help with modifying the kernel (if its not something extremely hard and time consuming - i have no idea im not a dev) would any similar tablet kernel work on it?
normally id just leave it and disable the apps but the problem is the tablet is running a phone os with both system telephone apps constantly draining the battery quickly on cell standby when its a wifi tablet (able to use a 3g dongle though), using airplane mode with those apps frozen still drains the battery really fast but the 30mins or so the apps are deleted with titanium backup the tablet only loses 1-2% instead of 10-20% in 30mins which is dreadful as its has a 6000mah battery
would anyone be able to suggest a similar kernel with security disabled?
kernel version 3.4.39+

android version 4.2.2
firmware version: 2.1_20130903

Hi,
Did you manage to make any progress with this? I have the same tablet as you (irulu ax105) and I'm having exactly the same problems as you with cell standby draining the battery. I can view the system/app directory but it's read only so I can't delete the phone apk's. I've tried mounting the folder as rw but it doesn't work. Have searched all over the net for an answer but found nothing so far.
Thanks.

AFAIK I have read it few days before. There is a system app which restores other deleted system apps after reboot. Search it and remove from Titanium Backup. I don't know its name, but it was mentioned few days ago (5-6 days) in this Android Q&A forum.

i reccommend you both either buy a dragontouch 9.7 inch android tablet or an ainol novo spark 2 (not spark 1) 9.7 inch tablet and sell the irulus, those two tablets are only £150 and £120 each and are better than an ipad, nexus and samsung tab (not 2014 edition) as they have 2gb ram, 1.6ghz processors and 10,000mah and 13,000mah batteries with retina screens of 2053x1530

both tablets are supported by the manufacturers so theyll get updated to 4.3 4.4 and 5.0 as soon as it becomes available for them and theyre rootable with all system apps deletable

I got my Samsung Galasy S II GT-I900G about a month ago, I've been turning it off every night so that It can charge. Like a week ago for some reason I didnt and in the middle of the next day the RAM got to about 560MB/0.91GB and then after a while it got stuck while i was sending an SMS. I had to take the battery out and and turn it on for it to start working again. I'm not that much of a hardcore gamer or phone user. I dont know why my phone would do this. I have deleted all my apps and still the same problem so its definetly not a leaky app. It gets stuck and then i have to take the battery out !
My phone has 2.3.4 android version
If you need any other information, let me know and i'll post it... But PLEASE help me.

I just have the i9100 not the g. So i dont know whats the difference in phones. Is your phone rooted? Are u using a 3rd party sms app?
looks like an iphone but powered by android baby!!!!
Try to figure out wich apps are actually using all this Ram with some tools found on the market.
After that you could delete those apps, or freeze it (with anttek for example)
If this doesn't work, perhaps flash another Kernel :/
Different processor

Try Androis Assistant from market
i use the stock active applications widget. You can check ram and 'clear memory' to remove cached processes. or reach it buy holding down the menu button and selecting task manager
From what i figured out i think this is not only active running ram, but includes applications you have used since your phone was turned on...not drawing any power,,,just in limbo (cached) until you need them again. Thus they start up faster and don;t consume extra power when starting up again.
settings- applications- running-- shows active background apps and you can see how much ram they need. hit the menu button again you can selected 'cached'. This will show cached apps.
Your phone should not slow down with 500-600 ram useage considering most of it is cached ram. Ram not being used is wasted ram on an android device
My s2 fluctuates between 280 and 570 ram used and is still equally zippy
If it happens again you might want to flash a different kernal or you have a dodgy app i suspect
If i am mistaken please correct me
@androidkid311: Thanks for your reply .. and No my phone isn't rooted, and I have yet to update it... and Right now my phone is free of any apps except for the system ones...
@staik: Thank you for replying... Could you please tell me about an app that will help me monitor my ram usage?? and all my apps are already deleted...other then system apps.. I cant use anttek cause my phone isnt rooted :/
@MistahBungle: haha Thanks
@umarian: Thanks for your response , i'll try it and get right back to you...
@IronMit: Thank you for such an explanatory response . I use task manager to close active apps and clear memory about 20-30 times a day... and when i turn my phone on i go into the running applications and stop all the useless apps like google maps and social hub and stuff... does nothing to help.
Right now there are no apps on my phone except for the system apps ! and i know i think the same unused ram is wasted ram but it freezes my phone so :/
How do you flash a kernel anyways?? Sorry if i'm being unbearably stupid but....gotta learn right??
Thank you everyone for your response....though my problem is yet to be solved
How do you flash a kernel anyways?? Sorry if i'm being unbearably stupid but....gotta learn right??
Same as firmware flash kernel in ODIN via PDA instructions with kernels .
or if you have CWM and root some are CWM flashable
like
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357020
jje
You have to root to flash another kernel...I dont want to root my phone just yet...In case nothing works and I have to take the phone back... Rooting it would void my warranty :/
You can always flash a stock Samsung firmware with a different kernel or even flash a stock kernel .
Neither of which require root .
Kernel does not require CWM or Root to flash via ODIN .

[Q] "Android System" using far too much battery, help

Hi guys. I picked up a Sony Xperia SX (It comes with Android 4.0.4) a week ago and have been happy with it except for the battery life; it's not quite as good as my old Nexus One.
I've been looking at the battery usage stats and things seem ok except for "Android System." This collection of tasks takes up a LOT of battery and I have no idea why. Does anyone know?
I've turned off all my Google Account syncing and removed some of the pre-installed bloatware (for example, McAfee AntiVirus, but for some reason this still appears under Android System - does that mean it's not uninstalled? If so, is there some way to get into the system and actually remove this process?). The screenshots below are for a full days worth of very light usage: a few text messages, browsed one web page for a few minutes, and a very short phone call.
Are there any apps I can install that track battery/CPU/activity usage per process so I can zero in on what is keeping the device awake so much?
Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help, I appreciate it!
Edit: The attachments don't seem to be showing up, so here are some direct links:
Friendly evening bump.

Unless someone's made a build for this device, I have no idea how to do that. :\
I have the same phone and same problem.
Have you rooted it?
If so you can use a root uninstaller to get rid of the bloatware
I installed juice defender yesterday and there seems to be a slight improvement.

Xperia Go Stock JB battery drains fast....!!!

Hello!
I know its a common problem for everyone. But I think my problem is quite a bit more. It drains fast even if I don't use my phone. One thing is my 3G is on 24/7. But I saw people with some other roms who open the data traffic for 24/7, bt still get 1.5 days service from battery.
My Xperia Go really drains so fast.I uploaded some screenshots. The first two photos, i uploaded the app use right after charging my mobile & in the next pair of photos are next mornings'. In between i just make a call for 10 min. Nothing else. Now say what should I do?
btw, i found just non-system apps like facebook, messenger & whatsapp which might drain some extra battery. Otherwise I have no other major apps non-system apps. I JUST WANT TO RUN MY XPERIA GO FOR AT LEAST ONE DAY WITH A FULL CHARGE
My Phone: Xperia Go rooted with doomlord kit version 14
Build number: 6.2.A.1.100
Kernel version: 3.0.8+ (I think its the stock kernel)
My pc operating system: Windows 8
Is there any better rom for me with pretty much less bugs?
Note: Give me an option without unlocking the bootloader plz

Thanks friend. But I would like stuck with any rom of JB. So if u may help me about that, I will be very happy ^_^
I tried BeAnZ/Google™ BeAnZ Lite 2014/01/01 and my battery life has improved considerably. But again I never had this bad battery. Maybe its a hardware issue ?
Battery drains super fast
Hi Guys even i have flashed with Doomlord for SU access and I am also seeing the same issue..
Hi Pias94....!!
Do u still have the problem or did u find a solution for the battery drain

I did follow some steps:
Step 1:
1. First You go Settings--->APPS--->All Tab---->ECO Mode Controller/ Extended battery mode (Click Clear Data and Force Stop)
2. Then Again you Go Settings--->APPS--->All Tab---Setting.apk (Click Clear Data and Force Stop)
3. Charge Your Mobile 4 to 5Hours
4. After 4-5 Hours While Charging That Time You Click Vol Up+Power Button( after 3 times Vibrate)
5. Remove Your Charger and Again Plugin Your Mobile The Sony Logo With Comes And Charging Logo has been Shown
6. Then Power On Your Mobile While Charging
7. Then Go Setting--->Power Management TURN ON BATTERY STAMINA MODE.
8. Then see the battery state.
Step 2:
As ur phone is rooted like me, install Greenify app & add those app works in background even if u don't use the phone. May be Greenify will stop them.
Step 3:
In power mangement, press the stamina mode & exactly add apps like which u did in grennify. In my case Facebook, Facebook Messneger & Whatsapp were the most dangerous app. So i added those.
Step 4:
Use app2sd card software & transfer app from phone memory to sd card. It mau help a liitle.
after these steps i get some little improvement
Note: There's always some bug in other roms. That's why i didn't install any
hey thanks for replying ...
I was using ALL THE PROCEDURES THAT U ALREADY MENTIONED...
BUT I THINK ITS A BATTERY ISSUE...I HAVE BEEN USING IT SINCE ONE AND HALF YEAR OR SO..
EVEN SOME BATTERY APPS SHOW THAT IT CAN SAVE ONLY BATTERY WHICH LONGS FOR 1HR OR SO WHERE IT IS SUPPOSED TO SAVE FOR A 5 HR TALK TIME
U CAN USE " No Bloat Free" to disable system apps if u dont want to use...:cyclops:
I am gonna replace the battery i guess..
Sony ericsson is not providing a battery replacement , they are asking for warranty and all which is expired in my case..
Anyways Thank YOu..
Well try factory format its work for me
also always charge your fon atleast more than 55%

I'm having trouble with the same phone but different rom. I'm running CM11 on my GO and battery lasts about 7-8 hours. This is with some maps usage, 10 minute calls, 10 viber messages and some surfing using Firefox. I've greenified everything including Viber & Whatsapp. I also got Juicedefender turning 3g off when screen is off and turning it on briefly every 15 minutes. Clean master is also running in the background because I have to keep clearing ram.
Edit: oh, and I got No frills cpu control set to 200/800mhz Interactive/Noop
Going back to stock rom might help but then Viber "effs" things up and dialer starts lagging.
Any other tips? This piece of crap phone has been nothing but trouble since the beginning.

It's the screen that drains most of it, how long has it been on?
And it is weird because it doesn't show to be awake when screen is on which usually is the other way (awake with screen off).
Check CM thread to see if it's a known/fixed bug.
I updated to the latest CM11 and things are a bit better now... I'm getting about one days use. Which still isn't much considering most of the apps are greenified. Anyway.....
edit: and I've tried to keep the screen brightness at constant ~25-30%.

[Q] Onda v919 G3

This iPad Air 2 clone from Onda: http://www.onda-tablet.com/onda-v91...reen-ram-2gb-octa-core-3g-android-tablet.html
Looks rather nice, (and very cheap) for what it is, the question is does anyone have one, and what's the battery life like?
I'm currently running an old (original) Nexus 7 Running 5.02 lollipop. It's usable. But having just bought my mother a ASUS HD7 (also an Intel build) http://www.theverge.com/2014/12/12/7377323/best-cheap-tablet-you-can-buy and seen how it performs in comparison I think it's time for an upgrade.
This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2776829 seems to be how to root one, but I'm more interested in build quality and feel
So does anyone have one?

Hi, got one on order - delivery next week, I hope, according to the email received today. I ordered the Android Only version - the dual boot Android / Win 8 was quite a bit more and I already have a MS Win 8 tablet which I dont like so didn't need the pain Also it was USD40 cheaper, so spent themoney on a memory card.
I also have an iPad Air Mini, so it will be interesting to compare to see if the Onda can match an iPad - not quite a direct comparison, but will be interesting.
http://www.onda-tablet.com/onda-v919-3g-air-9-7-inch-retina-screen-ram-2gb-octa-core-3g-android-tablet.html
Jeff
Jeff, tell us how the tablet is. what are the features like? how is the dual boot? etc....
Sorry for delay - I didn't get an email note to say a reply had been posted!
Anyway, I bought the Android version as I have a Win 8 tablet and hate it.
As usual for a Chinese item, it was configured for English (US) and has a selection of rather "unusual" programs and apps loaded as standard. Most are in-built into the ROM and cannot be deleted.
It is, basically, a large Android Phone running 4.4.2. It has a well configured 16Gb internal USB drive of which approx 12Gb is free to load apps. I have put a 64Gb TF card in and it is recognised and formatted automatically. It has a Micro SIM slot but my WorldSIM card is not recognised as it does not pull-in the SIM tools from the SIM card so cannot find a signal. I will buy a PAYG SIM from Tesco when I next go there.
It proved impossible to root the ROM using all of the APK or USB type methods - 4.4.2 is known to be extremely difficult and 4.4.3 almost impossible (I have read). I saw an add on the web for a USD39.95 root or your money back. Nothing ventured, Nothing gained, so I clicked on the link. A chat box opened and I discussed the issue (Chinese tablet / 4.4.2 etc.) and the techy guy said it was 50/50. He did confirm that if it didn't work there would be no damage and a full refund; if it did work, then that's good. I paid by PayPal and as soon as it went through, I got an invite to allow remote access. The tech guy downloaded iRoot (which has already failed for me) as well as a small toolkit. He ran a DOS promt and got the phone to be recognised - this is the secret that made it work; a standard USB/Phone driver is not working well with 4.4.2.
Once the phone saw the USB connection, he ran iRoot and after 5 minutes and a few reboots, it was rooted. He then tidied up the PC by deleting the files he had downloaded.
On the tablet, I now had a rooted ROM and a selection of new Chinese icons (SuperCLeaner / SuperUser and a few "extras"). Being untrustworthy, I wanted to replace those a.s.a.p. but being careful not to disturb anything that might un-root me. I went to bed, it was 11:30 and I didn't want to make any mistakes.
This morning, I researched what was available. First install was BUSYBOX FREE which I have always read is a util you should install. Next was SuperSU which is the utility that is normally part of a "Western" root process. As it loaded, it complained that there was already a SuperUser App installed (the Chinese one) so I ticked the box to say "replace it" and kept my fingers crossed. All went OK, rebooted and I now had SuperSU up and running. Next app to look at was the Chinese SuperCleaner which kept popping up saying it was cleaning up the cache etc. Made me suspicious. So, first thing was to get rid of it. It was a simple drag and uninstall.
I was still left with a lot of icons of unknown use (Chinese Characters / Chinese Browser / Chinese email app etc etc) that were part of the ROM and couldn't be deleted.
Next App load : Root App Deleter - says it all. I ran it in "Junior" mode (so no irrepairable damage can be done) and "disabled" everything I culd recognise - this removes the icon from the desktop, but does not delete the App. I will wait a few days and if nothing falls over, I will go back and run as "Professional" which allows permanent (and irreplaceable) deletion.
Next App : Root Explorer which, like a file explorer, lets you look everywhere.
Next App : Titanium Backup - allows you to backup to SD card or elsewhere Apps, setting etc.
Logged into Google / Playstore, clicked "My Apps" and started downloading all of teh Android Apps I wanted to replicate on the tablet (TV, Radio, AllCast, Netflix . . . etc)
There are a few very important apps which are involved with the Root, so Icreated a Root folder and moved all of the icons into it. ALso there were a few Chinese icons that I could not get ris of, so they went in the folder as well. I then moved it to the last desktop well out of the way - out of sight, out of mind
Interestingly, it looks like the full phone hardware is built in as well - along with SMS messaging app there is a phone dialler. I *#06# on the keypad and got an IMEI response and there is a phone onhook/offhook ability, so I assume there is a workin phone. Without a SIM, I cant try it (yet).
Downside : the wireless receiver is a little deaf - my iPad gets a 90% signal almost everywhere int he hosue, this droped the signal upstairs and gives a 75% signal strength within sight of the wireless router. This is a common complaint with Chinese phones and tablets.
So, for less than £100, you get a 9.7" iPad looking tablet, running Android 4.4.2 - not bad at all.
Quick update - PAYG 3G sim works fine- it is a phone as well, works perfectly but a bit large to hold to the ear - so a phone headset is best.

[Q] Slow phone

Hi all,
This is my first post on the forum!
I have a XT910 bought in Nov 2011. The phone is from Asia Region. I faced the well known SMS issue on this device on Asia Retail 4.0.4. Initially there was no problem but later it just randomly started. Fed up I rooted the device and flashed the EU JB Official ROM from this forum. Later on I have since installed Cyanogenmod (using Safestrap and done a dual boot with my stock ROM intact). The problem I face these days is that the phone is too slow / sluggish / unresponsive at times and it really drives me crazy. The problem occurs usually when I open some heavy app like Chrome or do some "new" activity .. like a new app installed and configured etc. The thing is this slowness is visible in both the stock / cyanogen mod. I have been on CM10.2 to 12.1 now but the problem exists always. I have done multiple reflashes / formats for CM as well as factory resets for the stock ROM but the issue does eventually crop up after a few days. I have observed the following though using various tools:
1. RAM usage is almost touching 85%+ but rarely do I have less than 50MB of RAM left.
2. Processor also seems to be okay
3. The I/O on the disk is too high tough. Sometimes I have seen GB of data "written" just when opening a blank chrome window (using System Monitor Lite). I wonder if my on board flash memory is to blame? I also have an external class 10 16GB SD card, though removing this doesn't seem to give any performance boosts.
I have been facing this problem almost since I moved to the EU JB ROM about 1.5 yrs back, though I must say the Asia Retail ICS wasn't really fast either.
What are your opinions / troubleshooting hints that I can follow or do you think the phone is plain simple too old and really needs to be replaced?
Thanks.
Replies ?
Hello again guys..
100+ views but no replies!!!
Any help will be appreciated Thanks.
Installed the monitor. That monitor app reports estimated transfer speed not amount data transferred. I.e. installing chrome is done at about 790kb/s. Since I don't have the paid version I cannot see how much it takes to open chrome. At least you know that it is not heat forcing your processor to throttle.
Doing RSD can be a better approach. And then factory reset WITH internal sdcard deletion. Just in case you have bad file system.
You explain in the post that first rooted then installed EU ROM over an asian phone. I don't think it would have worked but if it did, maybe rom is not working well with your kernel. Do a Rsd or flash the corresponding kernel. Second choice have gave me troubles before, so be ready to rsd.
Minimal installation of gapps. Avoiding heavy launchers like aviate. Using .nomedia files to disable media search in certain folders.
Not messing with ad blockers or location services or permissions for a while. Also ohmster had an interesting post in cm11 thread about what he does to get a better experience.
