Hi all!
Today I observed a rainbow blur on my TG01 upper display, it's seems like a liquid ,but it's under the surface and I can't clean it. It's like the crystal liquid it's came out somewhere or somehow.
It's could be a fissure or it's something else?
If it is, how it's this possible, because I treathed this phone like a jewel?
What do you think ,what it is.....?
I uploaded two photos about this.
What should I do?
Sorry for my english.
Thank you for answears.
do you have a screen protector on the screen? if so remove it and see if it disapears

There is no Screen protector uplied by me, it's in same shape like out of the box, only that, this movement was 2 months ago (out of the box)
I had the same with my first TG, that because you put it in your pocket without big protection.
This big screen don't like a "hold pressure"

Nothing to do for repair.
Sorry for you

That's mean that it can't be returned or changed in warranty at Orange?
How do you managed that?

Thank's , I will give it a try, and keep you inform about the situation.
my touch its dead
So I started testing.
the problem its touch screen.
display its ok!
touch screen is on a plastic surface.
Initially there was very little distance between the two
because of adhesive tape on the plastic (touch screen)
after a while they are to close, and then see those refraction,
the rainbow.

Thank's It's very good information, this way we know that rainbowing effect it's caused by the construction of the phone and can happen with anybody, so in this cause Orange (in my case) must replace the phone in guarantee...
I will keep you guys in touch.
Unless I'm very much mistaken this rainbow effect is harmless, because you can't see it when the backlight is on, and it doesn't affect device operation. It doesn't look as good when the device is turned off, but that's about it.
Or am I mistaken?

the rainbow that u see on the screen is called a newton's ring, it happens from pressure applied on the screen, it only happens to resistive touchscreens and not capactive, and if u dont take care of it, it may start to spread, i recommend that you should have used to screen protecter beacuse it usually helps protect this from happening, good luck!
What kind of screen protector would you recommend? Surely any kind of transparent soft case will apply the same kind of pressure to the screen. Or do you mean some kind of hard case that prevents any contact with the screen?

Good advice, keep it in mind!
Keeping it in my trousers' pocket costed me a bloody display(no kidding...)!!!
Hi guys
In Poland We have this same problem.
This is a unstick touch layer.
The reason of problem is bad heat dissipation from procesor.
When We use very strong own TG01 the Snapdragon have about 60'C and this type touch display is very susceptible to heat.
This problem is general problem of users TG01.
The cost of new touch display is hmm about 45 Euro.
After about 5 months use the first "oil spots" appear on the display.
When We use with this problem after 1 month have problem with less sensitivity of the screen.
i just saw the same thing with my tg01 today...but it`s a lot bigger...about 3 quarters of the screen but in the center...what should i do?
ps: i keep it in my jacket pocket...and there is no presure on it...i don`t know what could o caused this...

How about Dust isn't there a risk of having dust stuck between the digitizer and lcd? isn't it the same risk as in aplying screen protection. I tried several time aplying screen protector but never succeed without having dust particle stuck in between even though it's allmost unnoticable.
What's your experiance in this ?

That's what I feared and that's why I put on the gloves and I was careful to clean the internal part of the screen before the assembly.
It may be a very small particle of dust, but I can't really see it.
Very nice tutorial. I guess i have to change my digitizer too sometime in the future because it has a defect (these newton rings) and i dont know how long it will work with this defect. I'm sure your videos will help me.

The device works ok. At the beginning I had to realign the screen. Few days ago I realized that the screen had the oil stain (the device was working perfectly), and I made it disappear with a tape.
what if the part I purchased doesn't come with the metal surrounding. Only the glass do you use glue to stick it on the chassi ? any tips on this issue before taking my phone apart ? or you recomend to send back the glass and get the whole front? Thank for the video it must have taken you some time to edit.

I heard that many people has broken the original digitizer trying to separate it from the housing.
That's why I bought both pieces.
But I also heard that is possible to separate them, being very careful. But it's a risk. And I heard too that you can use any kind of glue, including the one we used at school.
I hope that I have understood your question.
Thanks for you greatefulness!
very usefull tutorial
I have bought me a touch diamond 2, with a pretty damaged housing
now I dare to try to replace it, thanks to you're tutorial
First, thank you for your useful guide, but i missed something.
What about the light sensor cover (it's at the opposite side of the power LED). Is it included in the new housing? Because i didn't find it on the new housing that I bought (may be because it is not an OEM?)
Thanx in advance!

How did you realign the screen? I tried to use the calibration utility but I it goes into an endless loop. tried to re-assemble but got the same result
Any ideas what might be wrong?

Sorry, voxter.
I realign the screen using the app included in settings (Settings > System > Screen > Align Screen).
I read in other thread that you tried without success (just endless bucle). I had endless bucle too in another ROM. But after two or three times I made a soft reset and the screen begun to work perfectly.
Now I have a Tess ROM and only asked me to repeat it twice. After that, the screen works perfectly.
It's all that I know about it. Hope it helps
Hello XDA Community!
I seem to be having a serious issue with my phone and cannot seem to find a solution online, so I am hoping that someone here will be knowledgable enough to assist me!
When I slide my keyboard out on my sk17i, my screen refuses to change orientation or respond to my touches. Having tested this further, it seems that it is the screen itself that will not change, but keys pressed and touches are registered. I have figured out that I can slide the keyboard out about 40% (just over the bottom row of letters) and the screen seems to change orientation to landscape AND responds visually to my touches. Any more than that and it just stops.
I looked online and someone suggested passing a magnet (fridge) over the keyboard. I did that and it worked once for about a minute. After that it returned to this state and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it. I have just put in an order for new facias and a new hardware keyboard to repair it as I have had it since the day it was released and some components are getting on a bit.
Does anyone know what the issue is? I only can think of one thing and that is a flex cable issue, but I cannot be sure at all...
I'd appreciate any help that can be given!
At first glance, yes, seems like a flex cable/ribbon issue. You screen will remain frozen when the keyb is completely open because the framebuffer stops receiving signal from the motherboard. It wont take long until your screen shows artifacts or goes completely blank even when the keyb is closed. Your touch digitizer might also be affected by a bad flex cable.
I suggest you replace it as soon as possible, but don't try to do it yourself unless you have experience repairing phones. I tried to do mine and ruined the LCD display, making my repair cost three times as much
PD: magnet over the keyb? never heard of that.

Many thanks for that! The flex cable is out of stock right now, so that is quite worrying, I hope it lasts the next month or so! I think I should be okay with repairing it, since I've worked with very small and delicate electronics before in Engineering. Just will have to be super extra careful! Any advice about what to watch out for?
And yup, magnet seemed to work once, I saw it on a very old thread, but that was the only advice given there.
Well, good luck! Be extremely careful with the display though, the original display assembly has unprotected corners and borders on the LCD so it's very easy to break it, especially on the lower side near the softkeys. Replacement parts often come with plastic and/or metallic protectors on them, which help keeping the LCD safe. Guess SE never meant for people to crack the phone open hehe.
again, good luck with that.

Replacing a flex ribbon/cable on the mini pro is no easy task, requires patience and steady hands when sticking the big square part onto the metallic slider while making sure all of the other components (home button, camera, led and sensors) keep aligned in place. Do it wrong and you're in for an even more tedious mission haha.
PD: here's a crappy pic from when I did mine

Well, after a cracked front facia (thanks to the previous repair that I had on it two years ago), and my temperamental lights, my phone works a charm! Replaced the flex cable, motherboard mount and hardware keyboard. Once again, thank you so much for your advice, I have decided to hang around this place much more often!
Repaired two years ago? Wow, your phone is kind of a veteran haha, mine is about to turn 2yo in about two months. Gotta get a birthday cake.
Good to know everything went fine. See you.

I'm sure your phone will love the cake
Noticed a new glitch with my phone though... the softkey and keyboard lights start to light up when I switch the screen on, but as soon as the screen switches on the lights switch off?
Never heard of such problems. What rom are you on?
I am running a stock gingerbread 2.3.3 rom, just rooted it a year ago. No other changes, apart from shoving CWM onto it for backup/restore
Hey guys, I just saw this post after hours of frustration!, I recently changed my damaged slider mechanism on my sk17i and I had to transfer the ribbon cable from the one mechanism to the other but I glued it with 2mm adhensive that is used for screen, and the problem is when I open the phone it is always on landscape mode, like the phone thinks the keyboard is always out! Before I tried this repair
everything worked perfect
How the phone understands if the keyboard is out or not?
Please tell me what I could have done wrong, I would appreciate your help here!
Sorry for my bad english
Thank you in advance!!!
I've been trying to figure that out myself too, it seems to be some kind of optical sensor. Whatever it is, it just works for me hehe.

Welcome to XDA.
Like Pixelado said, it is probably an optical sensor. My advice would be to disassemble the phone again (without unsticking the flex cable though) and make sure everything is back in its correct place. It make just be something is a little out of place, which is very easy to do! Good luck!

Was the phone dropped as it looks like some damage on the top corner there or did a liquid get into the phone as it kinda looks like the digitizer got separated from the lcd screen as i had a phone that kinda looked like that and salt water got into it and salt water will really work things over faster.
But if the digitizer did lift it would have to be separated from the lcd screen and put back down again which is not a fun job to do as i believe there is a special film in between the digitizer and lcd screen that would have to be replaced, if not careful when separating the two the lcd screen can be broken very easy, i have replaced the whole digitizer and screen as one unit without any problems..but i never tried to separate the digitizer from the lcd myself..but if the whole digitizer + screen have to be replaced the assembly are a little over a $100 US.
But by your pic this is all i can suggest at this time as if the digitizer itself has to be replaced that is up to you as that is a more delicate job then just replacing the whole digitizer+lcd screen assembly.
Oh i'm very sorry man for late reply, busy lately... anyway thank u very much for your response and what i need to know...well i'm probably just going to leave it like that for now :/ i've all checked around for that digitizer+Lcd together, really expensive... so yeah thx again

Firstly try to clean the screen without any stain or greases...
Try to tweak the sensitivity by changing the figure in /system/usr/idc/max1187x_touchscreen_0.idc (touch.filter.level = 5)...
Try to play around to get the best for ur device...
BTW white water marks due to water damage device??

This device has no water damage, that's what i wanted to say . Because of touch.filter.level: Sorry that i didn't sayed that i already tryed this whith best results @ 7, which is too high for a pen input, but the device doesn't go crazy that often.
Yesterday i've seen that you can fix this on Nexus 4 by reisolating a cable. If this is the case on ZU i'm gonna send it in for Warranty.

I'm facing similar problems with my ZU =/
After I've tried to replace a protective skin for my display, the phone started to present ghost touching. I mean, a LOT of ghost touching. As my warranty expired a few months ago, I sent the phone to a private maintenance and now they want to replace the whole screen.
Do you think I'll have to replace the screen or maybe there's a way out of this? Here in Brazil, replacing the screen can be as expansive as buying a new phone (and I must confess that I'm tempted to forget about my Z Ultra and buy a Z2), so if I could fix this in some another way... well, that would be terrific.
Thanks in advance!

maybe this will help. Its the Fix i found for the Nexus 7
I started to have a lot of that Phantom touches after taking off my aftermarket screen protector. **** was so annoying. I still have the anti shatter film but don't want to mess with that crap so I installed another screen protector and everything is normal again.
It has been 1 month since installing the new screen protector and no ghost touches.
Sent from my C6833 using XDA Free mobile app
Well... I must confess that the idea of installing a new screen protector never occurred to me
I guess this could worth the shot, actually. Anyway, I've ordered a new display (got a really good price... way way cheaper than the official maintenance was charging), so if the new screen protector won't work out, I'll proceed to replace the whole display.
