Hello,
I was interested in the HTC W100 remote control, does anyone know if it works on an Hermes?
Thanks.
I have bought one, many sites report it should work with the HTC Tytn. Unfortunately I couldn't get it working. I already tried WM5, WM6 and both updated with the HTC audio cab.
If anyone has an idea on how to fix this, please let me know!
I've emailed HTC about this and asked them if it worked with the HTC tytn, this is there answer.
Dear sir,
Thank you for contacting HTC Europe.
Regarding your query, if you check th HTC shop you will notice that the W100 remote is not listed under the accessories for the HTC TyTN. However, if you update the ROM on your device from WM5 to WM6 you should be able to use this device with the TyTN.
Unfortunately, we are not able to supply you with this update as your device is not an HTC TyTN but the T-Mobile variant of the device, the MDA Vario II. As such you would need to get in touch with T-Mobile in regards to getting a ROM update to WM6. This is naturally dependant on wether T-Mobile offer this update.
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please do not hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at http://www.europe.htc.com/support/csbyphone.html
Best regards,
Daniel Carregosa

The funny thing is that my mobile runs WM6 and it still doesn't work.
The controller does work on a HTC Tytn 2, I've tested this myself yesterday.

If HTC said this then I guess there are no hardware problem, just software, which perhaps can be fixed with the rigt information from a Kaiser.
I'm interested in this to if someone can get it to work with Tytn.
i was thinking this when i first noticed the remote online..
lets make this happen!
I have bought the same headset and it dosen't work. What am I doing wrong?
same case here. I bought myself a E100 today & my hermes won't recognize it!! The included driver won't install, it said the existing driver on my phone is the latest one.
Any help?? Thanks in advance!!
I have a HTC 6800 AKA Titan AKA Mogul AKA P4000
and ive updated my rom with a 2.16 custom version(the last untill now) that has HTC audio manager as a default player so when press play on the w100 it automaticaly starts HTC AUDIO MANAGER and not WMP but there is still that mute button that does nothing ... anyway what i wanted to say is that i'm sure that there is a solution for everyone .. we just have to wait till someone like colonel00 or anyone else buy that controller and hopefully find this value (.reg file)
For more info or testing just PM me
The same here. Just purchased E100 wired remote control and it is not recognized by HTC TyTN at all. I am on WM6.
I have installed the driver "Y-cable_HERM1_070316.CAB" first from CD and then from HTC website. It had no effect.
Did anyone find a solution?
W100 Headset
I have also purchased this headset, and can not get it to work with the Tytn. I'm usings Schaps ROM (great ROM BTW), I can not find the HTC Audio Driver update to see if this solves the problem, so if anyone has the cab for this I would appreciate you posting it, I can't find it on HTC's site.
I have also tried to use just a USB to 3.5mm adapter and can't get that to work either.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Craig
edit: I have managed to track down the HTC-Audio Driver update files. They would not install on my phone automatically so I had to extract them and try to manually install the driver. I tried installing many different drivers from the package, but most would either have no effect/ stop audio working all together/ or stop the phone from booting. I found one in the bundle that installed and at least gave me audio through the headphones and made the microphone work but still no remote buttons. That driver is Remote_controller_Y-cable_T1_070316.CAB, so at least now I am able to use a standard pair of headphones with the Tytn, would still love to get the remote working with it though.
Does anyone use a remote with their Hero. The one bundled doesn't seem to control music playback, and I'd like to use my own headphones.
The official one from HTC looks good. But are there other options?

Just for the record, RC E100 doesn't work properly with Hero. The phone detects it as a headset with microphone, but the sound is mono and none of the buttons work.
According to the HTC tech support, they're not aware about any RC E100 driver release for Hero in the nearest future.
Thanks for the warning.
Are there any remotes that do work with the Hero?
Sorry, no. I'm happy with my Sony HDH DS-970 Bluetooth headset, and I'm not really looking into any wired replacements.
E100 Remote - works with Tmobile G2
Hey all,
I had the old HTC Diamond until I moved to the world of Android, I cant believe I have not had a crash yet, with my winmo device had to restart everyday nearly. Anyways, I digress, with the Diamond I purchased the HTC E100 remote.
I would like to say I am happily using it with the HTC Tmobile G2(Hero) phone without any issues, volume keys work great, can change music tracks without any problems and able to receive and end calls with the mic. Just though I will let you all know that it does work !
Weird. It definitely doesn't work properly for me.

Are you able to control other applications, such as last.fm, using the remote?
Update: It seems the previous remote I was testing was faulty. I just tested a brand new RC E100 and it worked perfectly fine with Hero out of the box, so now I'm thinking about getting one myself, if I could only find some good earphones that could match HDH DS-970's quality of sound.
I haven't tested it with anything else but the default Music Player though.
I have just purchased a RC E100 Remote Control unit for my HTC Hero but am getting the same problems as previously mentioned on here.
While the answer/hang-up and volume control buttons on the remote work fine, the media control buttons (play/pause and skip-forward/skip-backward) buttons do absolutely nothing at all. While there is a CD included containing drivers for Windows Mobile phones, there are no drivers for Android so I'm not sure if this means that the remote is supposed to work natively with Android
The RC E100 is advertised on the HTC website as being a compatible accessory for the HTC Hero so I assume it must be possible to get it to work properly with this phone in some way.
I emailed HTC support a couple of days to try and get an answer on this (no reply yet) but would be interested to know how other people have managed to get the RC E100 working with the HTC Hero because from this thread it appears that this remote does work with these phones.
I'm running on the latest version of the ROM (v2.73.405.5) so I'm not sure if that makes any difference (i.e. remote control of the audio functions have maybe been "broken" in this ROM)??
I use the HTC E100 remote with my Hero (modaco 2.8 rom). Every button is functional and sound is great

Can you possibly tell me what the exact part number of the remote is (shown next to "P/N:" on the side of the box). And is "HTC Hero" listed as a phone model on the side of your box? The part number on the side of my box is "66H00001-13M".
Even though the RC E100 is listed by HTC as a compatible Hero accessory, on the side of the box I received the Hero isn't listed as one of the phone models that the remote will work with. I'm beginning to wonder if there is actually more than one version of these remotes whereby maybe only later versions will work with the HTC Hero

I have same part no: 66H00001-13M, Hero not listed as compatible. I use android stock music app, and meridian is fully functional with RCE100 too.
Works just fine for me.
Have the White GSM Hero and the HTC EC E100 (White) works perfect. All buttons and stereo work excellent.
It however does not work with an adapter like the 2-in-1 and 3-in-1 charger, headphone, sync. I was hoping to hook this remote up in my car while charging it and it does not seem to be possible. Remote works by itself just fine though.
Hmmmmm. I'm trying to use mine with the standard music app as well. Are there any settings on the phone that might need to be enabled (or ones that I might have inadvertantly disabled)?
If not then maybe I do actually have a duff remote. I guess all I can do in thay case is to try and get it replaced and see if a new one is any better.
Thanks for the help

Unfortunately not...I really wish it was that simple. The mute button on the side also isn't doing anything either
It's a shame I don't know anyone else with an HTC phone to try it on because I'm now paranoid that the problem is actually with the phone and not the remote. I guess I'll only know for sure by sending the remote back and getting a replacement sent to me.
I've just got this remote to use on my Hero / G2 and the remote is detected as a headset, the volume, back/forward and pickup/end call buttons are working fine, however the play/pause and mute buttons do nothing at all.
I'm running the latest official T-Mobile ROM (build 2.73.110.26).
Anyone got any ideas / suggestions as without play/pause working it's pretty useless!

actually, i got this one as well, and it works perfectly (play music, answer calls etc.)
it worked perfectly when i used the stock 2.73 rom, and it still works perfectly with modaco's 3.0 rom
what's also nice is that you can actually use 2 headphones at the same time by plugging in the wired remote control in the extusb, and the standard HTC earphones in the 3.5mm jack (although only the buttons on the standard HTC 3.5mm earphones will work when doing this)

I've currently got an open "ticket" with HTC about this issue but they're not being very helpful or quick with their responses to be honest. I submitted the original details of the problem to them 6 weeks ago but they still haven't given me any real help or possible resolutions. After 4 weeks of communication back and forth they eventually told me to just look on the list of compatible products for the HTC Hero I politely informed them that I had already done that before I ordered the remote. Apparently my problem is being urgently investigated but the last reply I had from them was over 2 weeks ago so it clearly isn't that urgent to them. It seems to me that they actually have no idea why.
The supplier of the remote didn't want to give me a replacement and just told me to get in contact with HTC for a resolution. This is dragging on far too long now so it looks like I'm going to have to go back to the supplier and demand they give me a refund.
This remote seems very hit and miss with the HTC Hero and I can't understand why some people can get all buttons on them to work perfectly fine while others have issues with some of the buttons not working even when those different people are running the same ROM

I have RC E100 and it works flawlessly with my Hero. All the buttons work, mute button and LED work, mic works. FLAWLESSLY. What the hell others are talking, I have no idea.
P.S.: it's a GSM brown original Hero
Hi, i just bought a one x+ and am very impressed with it. However, there are a few strange things that i have noticed after a week of usage. For some reason the touchscreen stops working in certain games such as avengers initiative when it say tap to deploy and battleheart. Also when beats is engaged, there becomes a slight background hiss and lastly, when i activate mobile network i doesn`t even attempt to connect but simply displays disconnected. can anyone solve my dilemna, thanks
Your touchscreen issue may be due to certain games having some incompatibilities with JB. I know when ICS came out i had simlar issues with my SXL.
I do not have any issue with beats. But the hissing sound could be that you have not connected your headphones properly. Make sure the jack is pushed in all the way.
For mobile data to work, you need to make sure that the APN for your wireless provider is properly configured.

Bummer, thanks for your reply, the games all work fine but for some reason i can`t use the touchscreen on some, even shadowgun thd. Also how do i configure the apn? thanks
That sounds more of an issue. Shodowgun works fine for me. I would get your screen looked at.

No, the strange thing is that the screen works fine with things like renaissance blood and horn and even during the video sequences of avenger initiative but once i get to the menu where it states tap to deploy, the characters on screen keep moving around but tapping does nothing. Thus it must be a software issue, i am going to try another rom and see if it helps, also 3g is fixed, thanks for your assistance.
I have seen a few T-Mobile unboxing of the One and none seem to include the unbranded headset. They look pretty good, and wish it came included. Anyone know why T-Mobile does not include it?
i'll let you know i should be recieving my HTC one today in the mail from Tmobile
This is true, I have mine and didn't really look for the headset but now that I look again it's not there.
My current headphones work somewhat-- the start/stop button works, but the volume does not.
It doesn't include them! But they are not the beats ones. I'm getting the nexus 4 ones, they're pretty nice and seem to sound ok

Damn that sucks.
confirm. does not include headsets. o well i use my jlabs one anyways lols
