I was trying to flash back my I605 Note 2. I'm coming from CM11. Downloaded original 4.1.2 firmware and ran through Odin. Everything passed and worked through Odin, but when the phone restarted it was flashing the Galaxy Note 2 screen....... Any ideas? About to sell the phone. Really need some help. Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you.

Worst case scenario Jtag brick repair $50. I would try everything thing 1st. Try to Odin root66. Try Odin again, maybe with the vram, or vrall down load. Can you get into recovery? Or download mode?

I think I've had this problem before. I flashed the root66 4.1.2 file and it got stuck. From there I put it in download mode and flashed TWRP through Odin. Then I went into recovery and flashed a ROM and from there I got it to boot. Since you're selling it, I would say flash creanrom and then flash sophisticated 4.3 to give them a stock experience.

Haven't seen that one. I did some research and the things I found are pretty bad. I read theres a problem where your phone storages are set to R/O rather than R/W and its not allowing it to write anything. The last thing I found to fix it was a fix for the VZN GS3, but I'm gonna guess the same will for the the Note 2. I would suggest using the unrooted stock firmware since root is unimportant right now. You can get that somewhere in another thread because I don't have the link handy. Get that, and get the pit file and load that into Odin with your phone in download mode. Go ahead and make sure repartition is checked as well and give that a try. Using the pit file should reset the data tables (or something like that) to the proper R/W permissions. Hope everything works out for you!
EDIT- Here's the thread you can use to get the firmware and pit file. All the files you should need are in section 1b. I know I said not to use the root66 file, go ahead and try it first because the firmware files are huge. If root66 doesn't work, go for the one that says it'll return it to "out of the box conditions." From here, hopefully it'll boot. If you run into the endless boot issue from here, go back to the first post I posted and do that.
Another Edit - I'm an idiot. Forgot to paste the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207

Had the PBA replaced twice now and i just got the phone back without root. I need to get it rooted but no matter how googling or odin flashing nothing works. I can communicate with Kies and odin and thats working i just need the .tar's to get it done. Can someone provide the .tar's?
Sidenote: why wont dev's make odin flashable roms anymore? its a lot easier.

Goomanager app flashed a wrong recovery to the phone, now it won't boot but is stuck at the black "Samsung GALAXY Txt" Boot screen. does anybody know how to fix this? i wouldn't mind having to hard reset it. Are you able to get into recovery mode still? For download mode make sure your holding down the correct key combination to get into download mode. You can also try using a USB Download jig which you can get from here, which when plugged into the phone will force the phone into download mode. As a fair warning the download jig's don't usually work with newer model phones but for a couple bucks it's worth a try. Let me know if you still have questions.
Motherboard dead?
Sorry to invade this post. I would just like to have confirmation on my device and it's pretty similar to what is found here. The only way I can access download mode is by pressing Q+Power and then adding the battery. Odin connects to everything, I can even flash the firmware from Bell for my Galaxy gt-i5510M and it PASS. But I can't still power it up, is the motherboard or something similar dead?
Thanks

If your device can still access download mode and Odin can successfully connect to your device an flash the firmware your device's motherboard is not dead. Try re-flashing the firmware to your device and checking auto-reboot option in Odin this way when the firmware finishes flashing the device will automatically reboot and hopefully power on then.
Thanks for the fast answer, you've been answering 3 people back on this thread, impressive.
Unfortunately I made sure of that, the auto reboot was checked but it doesn't reboot the device. I wanted to put a screenshot but I didn't realize you need around 10 posts to be able to post outside links. I've been looking through xda for a while but never posting.
I'm used to adb, so Odin is a bit new I have to admit. I've put the ops file, callisto in this case, in the appropriate ops , and then the One Package file I got from samfirmware "I5510UGKC5_I5510BMCKC5_BMC". Is there something else I could flash? It wouldn't be like some other phones where I could put down a Custom Recovery, go back to stock, etc. ?

To clarify did you put the firmware in the correct slot in Odin (PDA slot in this case) when flashing? Also double check your flashing the correct firmware for your device, as that could also be part of the problem.
Well you figured some things that were wrong. I was putting it in the one package slot. So I tried in the PDA slot, but it said "Invalid Image Type". From the sticker inside the battery compartment, it does say it's the GT-I5510M, so the 551 from Bell Canada it seems. But it's not easy to find a firmware for it, and the only one I found is at sammobile. There's plenty others under GT-I5510, but they're all European.
Any idea what I could use instead? The full name of the firmware I have is: "I5510UGKC5_BMCKC5_HOMEDOWNLOAD_TEST.tar" or "I5510UGKC5_I5510BMCKC5_BMC.zip" for the zip.
Thanks a lot for following this.

You can try ignoring the "Invalid Image Type" error and trying to flash anyway just don't unplug your phone from Odin until it fully completes the process.

sorry to interrupt you people.. but are you sure that it is a proper firmware file. because the pda file is .tar file. also, try entering the recovery mode and flashing a cwm recovery. then check if the system is mounted.

I can't access recovery mode, only download mode by simultaneously putting the battery back in and pushing Q+Power. But I am wondering also if it could be a wrong firmware... Can I just flash a custom rom through Odin? Would that make up for it? Anything to having back in working order.

How would I go about repartitioning the phone? I full wipe and flashed the new Shostock3 and it was doing fine. The next day when I woke up my phone had the sleep of death. The Galaxy S2 logo was stuck and I tried to get into recovery and it only showed half of the screen and was frozen. Now the screen says Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
Go to the Download Repository. The link is in my sig.
First, try flashing full stock Gingerbread. Use the download under the heading I777UCKH7-CL503881 Stock Binaries. This is the full distribution which contains the bootloaders. It doesn't matter whether you use the one-click downloader, or the tar.md5 file with Odin stand alone. If this flash completes, then you're recovered. Follow the guides to root and install a custom Gingerbread kernel, then flash back to SHOstock3 or whatever firmware you want.
If this flash does not complete, then download the I777 UCKH7 PIT and use that in Odin stand alone with the above tar.md5 file. Insert the tar in the PDA slot, the pit in the PIT slot, and check repartition, then flash.

Yes, I was hoping that the problem is not hardware, but it was a thought from the beginning, given the sequence of failure. Is the phone by chance still under warranty?
Let's don't give up yet, though.
Things to try, then try to flash the full firmware in between.
1. Use Odin stand alone to flash just the I777 secondary bootloader.
2. Use Odin stand alone to flash just the param.lfs.
Try the instructions in this post.

You can already get into download mode. I don't believe there is any difference in the download mode produced by a jig. A jig is really helpful if the wrong secondary bootloader was flashed by accident (or ignorance), and you can't get the phone into download mode any ohter way.

Hey peeps
Ok I've been at this for two straight days now in order to try and unbrick this Telus Fascinate SGH-T959P
My buddy initially attempted to flash it with something and really messed it up to the point that even the battery wouldn't charge.
I don't even care if I get it to stock.. an amazing Rom/Kernel combo will also work.
So this is where I am today... and I have spent the last two days non-stop trying to fix this thing...I have been through sooo many forums posts and websites my brain is about to cook.
Software I am using
Odin v1.7 and v1.83.. I try to use the newest one.. just in case.
ADB / SDK installed and am able to push files across to the sdcard in my phone... everything seems good in that dept
Files that have got me to where I am today
T959TLJL3 Froyo original firmware (apparently)... but can not flash all of the files from the package ..zimage and a few others just fail to flash
s1_odin_20100512.pit file (Have atlas_v2.2.pit also but haven't had as much success with it)
SGH-T959-Stock_plus_voodoo_CwM_2.3.4v2
su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed
I can successfully boot the phone into download mode every single time using the volume up and down while plugging in the usb cable
Also if i just hit the power button I get a Telus 4G / Samsung splash screen and then the phone boots into CwM Voodoo Recovery v3.0.2.8x (Orange??)
In the CwM recovery mode, I can now finally mount all partitions and it looks like things will flash.
Now that I've finally got this phone to this point, I don't want to mess it up.
I want to make sure I have the right files to complete this little project.
Need some direction from the pros.. Am I able to flash a custom rom now ? And if so, what one is best to use.
From this point how can I revert to stock? Do I have the right files ? And how since Odin fails to flash the ones I have.
I figured going to stock first was easier, then use Kies to update it.
Show me the way
Thanks.

Wow... I got it .. Finally... After I figure out exactly what I used for files.. I will let you know.
All I can tell you right now is that I was flashing a single files at a time then powering down and coming back into download mode to flash the next file.
Right now the phone is all booted up and Running Android v2.3.3 (GB LKG2) and even tho the phone is actually a T959P.. the boot screen shows up as a T959D. Interesting.

I ended up flashing individual files... and kinda had to mix and match, but was able to get the phone booting back into Android OS
However the phone was missing the EFS folder with IMEI info and such..
Still was not able to recover it 100%.

I don't have the phone or any software related to that phone. That post was from 7 years ago.
Hi,
Today I bought a galaxy note 2 off someone and its stuck in a bootloop.
It starts up and goes the Verizon 4G LTE screen and that's it.
I tried going into recovery and it says E:failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
I've tried using Odin and the phone to flash a stock file but they just dont work. Odin stopped working when the top thing said flashing recovery then it changed to "fail" in a red box. On the bottom it said Complete (write) operation failed.
Any ideas. Worst case its a parts phone but I really think/hope its fixable.
Thanks
I should add that when Odin fails the device says something about a firmware error and to use the Kies software. The Kies software just hangs at "connecting" so I was able to exit out of that message by going back to Odin and JUST using the 16gb PIT file. Then after that, I'm back to step 1 where it hangs at the 4G LTE bootloop.
Thanks
Use Odin, flash the alternate restore package with PIT file and repartition selected.

In section 1b, use the vramc3 file and pit file. If that doesnt work, try it with both files and reparation checked. As a note, this vramc3 is the actual stock software and will relock the phone so if it works and boots, you will need to use casual to unlock it again.
Sent From My Sticky Note, Too?
I had the exact same issue recently. Failed to mount EFS partition (If you see this in your stock recovery, you have a HUGE issue on your hands)... Stuck in a bootloop no matter if Odin is successful or not. Nothing I did booted it back up. So I thought I was screwed.
Now if none of the above methods work for you, I HIGHLY suggest you check out mobiletechvideos.com. They take care of bricks, which sounds like that's where you're at.. They fix EFS issues, and everything you can think of. They have great reviews. And I actually took the plunge and went to them to fix my phone at the time.. I paid for the unbrick service, a new USB cord, and rush processing. Cost around $100. Which costs me a lot less than buying another phone and/or using my upgrade.
Once my phone returned, I factory resetted the phone, and all was perfect. I suggest you trying that if these methods don't work for you. I can thank @ForeverSupra for sending me to them.

Try the VRALJB alternate restore package. It has an xz extension, but 7zip can extract it. There may be an issue with the VRAMC3 package, but I haven't had a chance to look into it to confirm and/or fix it.

Ok I'll try that. I tried the VRAMC3 and it said it was successful but it was still stuck in a boot loop . Will download the VRALJB and keep you guys updated. Worst case I'll just list it for parts on eBay - I only paid $60 for it since the guy said it was stuck in this boot loop and I thought it would be an easy fix. I appreciate you guys helping me.

Looks like I'm in the same position as you. One last try and Im probably gonna list it for parts.
If it doesn't work, and you're interested in selling it, let me know as I may be interested in picking it up to try and fool around with, if the price is right.
