Great. Is this the encrypted ruu? People just need to know if they need to be s-on to flash. Thanks!

This is an encrypted RUU. Your bootloader needs to be locked. you don't need to be s-on from what i can tell. I flashed this RUU with s-off, and I remained s-off.

I have downloaded this file 3 times but WinZip and 7-zip can't open it.

The contents of the .zip file are encrypted. It is meant to be flashed in hboot of the bootloader. Rename is to 0P3PIMG.zip, put it in /sdcard. Then restart phone, press the vol down, till you in the bootloader, then hboot will see the zip file. and just follow the on-screen direction

This may be a stupid question, but does it matter if bootloader is locked or unlocked when flashing this? Cant get bootloader to recognize file. Renamed it and have it on root of sd card. Currently have locked bootloader.

Should be locked. Root of which sdcard though? Remember we have sdcard (internal sd) and sdcard 2 (external sd).

I put it on root of ext sd

did you rename it to 0P3PIMG.zip and put it in the root of SDCard,(internal SD) not SDcard2 (external SD)

Ahh ok put on on external....thanks

There was conversation about this briefly somewhere. Thought it said because htc treats the max as if it has no external sd but added it as sdcard2 that we could only flash ruu using fastboot.

Guess that was scotty forgetting we have a true ext sd. Nm...

[Q] ICS PG05IMG.zip isn't reading at hboot.... for ICS

EDIT: I FOUND THE ISSUE: I needed to reformat my SD Card
I have the new zips for the new radios - for some reason hboot isn't recognizing the zip file, and no its not named ".zip.zip" - I'm using a Linux Machine, I checked the md5s and all, they all matched up, I haven't had an issue like this ever before, what's wrong?
And yes it's on the root of the SDcard

There's two sets of zips, one of the zips can't be read by certain versions of HBOOT because of the compression method. I don't have links to the two sets but I'm sure you can find them.

Nahh, he got it installed eventually.
He just needed to reformat his SD card.
Maybe he should update the OP to reflect that.

Fixed
A longshot
I know it's an older thread but I'm hoping someone can help. I reformatted my SD card, all the tips and tricks I've seen in this section and the development section and still no dice. Should I be doing this via recovery or HBOOT? If via HBOOT, can I do so after installing a ROM or does it still have to be done first.
Thanks

HEY LOKI
I AM "NOT" RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS UP YOUR DEVICE FROM FAILURE TO READ INSTRUCTIONS.
there is a fix
what you want to do is follow these instructions to downgrade your htc thunderbolt to a firmware that can be S-OFF, i should say.
the reason behind why this wont work is because you are probably s-on and HTC is rejecting your file. Kinda like Read/Write.
Basically you need to be S-OFF.
here is the link to the post:
www[dot]androidforums[dot]com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/689221-how-downgrade-root-ics[dot]html
this link contains all of the information you need to achieve your goal.

HTC Amaze Asian not loading PH85IMG.zip after S-Off and Super CID

I was on stock rom that is GB ...I wanted to root my phone nd update it manually as its an Asian version so I followed " aj_2423 " method and i successfully unlocked the Bootloader.., S-Off, Super CID ...nd then i downloaded Amaze RUU nd renamed it to PH85IMG.zip and copied it to my external removable micro sd card...then i restarted in bootloader and my PH85IMG started to load and in meanwhile it was loaded and nothing happened no update option was there ...my phone is still on GB

No check the zip file for its md5sum from the site with your zip and make sure it matches.. Also try flashing the correct hboot from jbear site to your device (DOUBLE CHECK IT BEFORE YOU FLASH IT WHETHER IT'S FOR YOUR AMAZE AND IT HAS THE CORRECT MENTIONED HBOOT VERSION) and try again..
EDIT : you can't flash a RUU through recovery.. Make sure your phone recognise your ext card maybe that's why try formatting it from recovery and keep the RUU in the root of ext card not inside any folder

Well the size of the RUU is 486.47mb now that I've checked it and it's different than what you just told me (referring to Aj redirected ruu) also the md5sum for that RUU would be
MD5 Sum: 2d7b51781171027adb7c2674394ed82b
Check your ruus md5sum using 4ext md5sum checker and compare it with that if it's different it's a bad download so download again

To check md5sum
Go into recovery
Install from zip > check md5sum > select zip file from ext_SD
And compare that md5 with ravike mentioned above...
And you told that your file size is 474.x
But actual size 486.4 so... Something is missing in your RUU...
Follow above steps....
If problem remains then format your SD card from 4ext recovery and after formating it try to put that RUU in your external SD card and then rename it.
After these steps your problem must be solve...
And
This is the link for RUU...
http://d-h.st/3VD
Download it and check md5sum as shown on site and from 4ext as I mentioned above...
And yup before flashing hboot download correct version for your amaze Bcoz it may hard brick your device...

i dont really think so... prolly something to do with where recovery stores the backups. 4.1 put the "sd card" at data/media. 4.2 for some reason moved it to data/media/0. when m7 went to 4.2, recovery was still storing backups in the old location,so they appeared to disapear sounds like twrp is still storing them in data/media. you should be able to find them with a root file browser if thats the case. where is the thread? ill have a look ifn i get a minute.

sorry for the short answer earler... limited time at work to cruise forums, since i drive for a living.
anyway, you can flash it just like described for the radio:
-place phone in fastboot, open cmd. file must be in your adb/fastboot working directory
-enter:
fastboot erase cache
fastboto oem rebootRUU (will put you in ruu mode, black screen silver htc letters)
fastboot flash zip zipfilename.zip (will send and flash the file. dont interupt it while the cmd window shows its writinging, and the green status bar is moving on the phone screen)
*sometimes a file will fail with a pre-update error after after flashing hboot, radios or other firmware. this is normal, just enter again:
fastboot flash zip zipfilename.zip
and this time it will finish
-when you get "finished" and "OK"
fastboot reboot-bootloader (takes you back to fastboot. should also rescue you if for some reason the file wont flash)
-reboot back to the OS
fastbooot reboot
most if not all the pretend sd card phones will let you rename the file to xxxxIMG(0P3PIMG.zip in this case) and flash it from a real,FAT32 formated sd card plugged into the phone via an adapter and OTG cable. i personally prefer ruu mode,as it leaves sd card format and proper file name out of the equation, and it will show you exactly at what point the flash fails. not to mention i find it a PITA to move files on and off of an sd card

[POSTBOOT]Southern87 Postboot Tweak

I created this file in 2012 for the EVO3D I had as a alternative to init.d scripts.
This is intended to create real performance. Not performance to create crazy benchmark numbers like done on the 3D forums before. For shiggles....I am getting 22k on AnTuTu Bench. This is a rough post as I just spent 4 hrs creating a biology study guide and I am quite tired.
*DISCLAIMER*
I AM NOT LIABLE FOR YOU JACKING THINGS UP
I have a ATT Moto X(XT1058). Rooted, unlocked, on 4.4.2....Still stock recovery. Though this should work on any Moto X.
Keep in mind this should be considered a beta as I tweak it for the Moto X and add things like I had done before.
Version 1.0
Initial Release for Moto X
Cleaned useless code from orginal that doesn't apply to our phone. Cpu 2 & 3 settings IE.
[Stock uses Interactive as the governor.
Changed settings used for the ramp up of the cpu under load
Changed settings to improve VM performance and battery life(supposedly)
Changed scheduler to noop and read ahead to 3072
Changed network settings to help optimize them
Optimized the EXT4 mounts.
Zip align files on boot - Checks them first
Installing this is quite simple...Just need to click a file in windows. That simple basicly.
Everything you need is there in one folder
No need to reboot into recovery.
Instructions
Download the zip file.
Extract the files to a folder.
Run the file Push.bat
Hit any key to keep going.
Let it reboot.
RESTORING
If you decide this is not for you...hey I got your 6.
Run the File named Restore.bat and it will replace the old postboot for you and reboot.
To Do:
Tweak Current settings and add new
Create a flashable zip
Add user customization
Sweet will test it out tommorw! Could we get some further details at exactly what if changes and tweaks? Or is that in the download
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Yeah I will today. Sorry wasn't exactly awake.
The batch file is for those who still have stock recovery but rooted and unlocked or write protection disabled.
If you get a read only error pushing the files to the phone then your kernel isn't insecure. If you get the error just close the command prompt screen.
If you have a stock kernel then you need a app like adbd insecure. Buy or aquire it, lol, and check the option in the settings. It will pop up a window saying patching. Then run the push.bat file.
Custom kernels shouldn't be a problem lol. If so then who made it is stupid.
When I make the flashable zip then you won't need a app and such.

When I make the flashable zip then you won't need a app and such.

Hi Southern,
Thanks for your time and effort. I have ran your tool and received an error. I have a Dev Edition Moto X with custom recovery and Eclipse (Blur based 4.4.2) Rom. Please take a look at the attached pic.
thanks

Install this. Your kernel is not unsecure. This will allow you to push and pull system files via adb.

About to add the flashable zip if you want to flash it instead.

Thanks! I will just wait for the flashable file, but will still download the above file just in case.

Tried the flashable version and it failed. I am using TWRP 2.7 if that helps at all.
I will now try the file you suggested 2 posts above and the usual windows method.

I took it down. I just looked at it and realized I got ahead of myself on the updater-script. I need to flash a recovery anyways, just hadn't had time.
but yeah if you install that app, it will let you run the batch.

good deal. Maybe 2.7 doesn't play well with the X. I don't think its officially suppported. Everything I try to do gives me the same error while flashing.

Just FYI, 2.7 works well with all the other flashing I had to do.... Eclipse rom as well as some random additions i had to flash via the recovery, all went without an issue. I did see that 2.6.3 is the only one in the Moto X forum though.

I figured.
No versions of TWRP are "officially" supported.
2.7 works without issue for me -- the dev (I believe its dhacker) just didn't bother making a thread for it
ahh I see. I always had HTC devices so wasn''t really a issue.
From what I read KitKat changed some stuff to do with the updater-scripts. I was starting to get pissed with this lol.
Going to add it to the OP in a second.
Hi Southern...
What is Moto Z in your signature? Which device is it?

If you go to system/etc/ and find the post boot it will be like 6 or 7kb in size as the original is 20.
That or use adb to pull it from a phone after you install it.

failed to move zipalign and int.qcom.post.boot.sh to folders.
I didn't change or screen said failed? Read only? Or did you use the flashable zip?
If it's read only error it'd saying. Your kernel isn't unsecure. There is a link to a app that can fix it. It's temporary unless you set it to start at boot.
It allows you to push and pull system files via adb.
Flashing isn't affected by this

I was able to mount sd with twrp and was then able to write to it.
My question for you is how in the heck did you get root?
When u flash twrp, it asks u if u want to install the supersu in order to get rooted. Say yes

SuperSU installed but it was not complete. It required me to flash a zip or go to the play store. I flashed the app and it appears to be working with the exception of s-off which is why I have been attempting to run rumrunner w/o luck
What error msg do u get when u try to run rumrunner?

ERROR: run rumrunner again and READ (no adb connection to device. Debugging on? Drivers?)
But I do have the connection, I can see devices and run adb commands.
U have a chance to get s-off but dont know why theres an issue with the adb connection

twrp 2.8.0.1 does not seem to be working either and a user told me that s-off was a different procedure so I am now trying rumrunner.
I really do not care I just want s-off

Sounds like both superSU and rumrunner are having a problem setting s-off permission. Unlocked. Do I need to do a factory reset? Re do the Htcdev unlock? or??
No u r rooted and can run rumrunner. If twrp 2.8.0.1 is no good then flash 2.7.1.1

if i wanna made back up platform xml it in same folder at system/etc/permission?
Not necessary but if u want to. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jrummy.sdfix&hl=en i used this app and it worked. It will make a backup of the platform.xml file for u
