My sister's phone (Micromax Canvas 2) was stolen and fortunately has been found by police (anyway still cash, credit card, HDD, USB and cash is missing). Phone have stock JB 4.1.1. Recovery is corrupted and it won't open (shows android with red sign).
Actually phone have pattern lock. Before it was stolen, luckily I have enabled android debugging. I have spent few hours but couldn't break and I don't want to erase data. Any help please?

I don't know much about Micro Max, but in my Samsung you can reset pattern by deleting
/data/system/gesture.key and
/data/system/password.key
I assume you know how to use ADB shell to delete above files.
If you don't know, ask me. I will be glad to help.

Whenever i try to delete it says permission denied
If you enter a wrong pattern 5 times, it should offer to send it to your associated Gmail account (you may need to tap the emergency call button then go back to the lock screen for that to appear.) Restoring to stock is also an option, although you'll lose your data (but not what's on your internal/external SD card).

You need root access. If you have root, then type
Code:
adb shell
su
Then delete those files, reboot and lock is removed.
For GermainZ's Gmail method you need to be connected to internet. If you flash stock then external SD card will be safe. Internal card will be wiped.

Then I hope you can use recovery. Download Aroma File Manager, I suggest version 1.80 or 1.90
Flash Aroma File Manager from recovery. Mount data before flashing.
Delete above mentioned files. (No root required).
Reboot and done!

Inserted it on locked phone and replaced said files with armoa file manager and rebooted. Lock gone! Thanks for file manager and info bro. <3

Hi all,
I totally broke my screen during NYE (alcohol is not good for certain things )
I would like to get data from my apps but unfortunately I can neither see what's on the screen or click on it directly.
My phone is on CM10.1, adb is enabled.
I used to get my data from adb once but I forgot that in newer versions of CM, root is allowed only to apps by default.
Tried to use screencast, I see the screen but I can't click.
I also tried a app called mymobiler, problem is I need at a certain point to click on the screen to allow it.
last solution I tried was to send a adb comand to backup the phone but here again I need to click the screen to confirm.
I see only two solutions, maybe you guys can help :
First one would be to simulate a click on the exact point where is the "allow" box for superuser, this would allow me to use those apps
Try to make a titanium backup within adb, titanium backup is already granted root so it could work, but don't know if it's possible ..
Many thanks in advance for your help

Already suggested higher, and unfornately, I can't see anything on the screen also.
That's why I was suggesting the command line option or ask for the way to simulate a click at the exact point to allow super user rights
Just a wild guess, use recovery and make a nandroid backup (if you're using cwm, the button combinations should be easy enough to figure out?) and see what you can fish out of the backup file?

You're boned in that case. Time to bite the bullet (or you could sit around for another week waiting for an answer that's not going to come & be without your phone).
Isn't there a way to use adb to delete the file that contains the pass code lock?
there is a backup email in the Gmail account restore, maybe u were Lucky to put ur Hotmail address there?

What type of data is it?
You should be able to just copy it from internal/external via USB, Just boot into recovery and mount USB via storage menu.
Advanced users might already know this, but this is for newbies. This method will help you to move almost all the apps you install to SD card and you needn't have any partition on sd or any a2sd script. You cannot move system pre-installed apps and also few manually installed apps to sd card like tasker, etc., but this method should give you a few more space than you'd normally get on internal storage. Let's get started !
Pre-requisites : Root, Terminal emulator, A pair of sharp eyes, hands to type and a useful brain
Steps :
1) Go to play store and download the terminal emulator app, it's free.
2) ENABLE USB DEBUGGING MODE.
3) Open terminal emulator app. Type,
su
Now hit enter on your keyboard. Grant super user permissions to terminal emulator. Then type,
pm set-install-location 2
Hit enter. Then type,
pm get-install-location
4) Exit terminal emulator. You can even uninstall terminal emulator if you want !
5) Go to manage apps and move the apps you want to sd card
Note : I highly recommend typing in the terminal emulator exactly as I've showed above with hyphens at appropriate places. Else it will not work you.
Enjoy !!

They say swipe partition kills your sd. The advantage of using this method is that you get just enough space for your apps and no partition is needed !

This can't be the fault of the method. Probably you have done something else wrong that has triggered all of this. Remember, try to keep vital apps meant to be on phone, on phone. That should do fine. I use this method along with the int2ext+ on my Rom here and I haven't had a problem ! How come you did ? And besides, what does a set install location had to do with system ui.apk ? Try again with safety measures...

If this is so you can drag and drop files (Music, Pictures etc) between your PC and mobile just install Kies this will install the correct drivers then just connect your phone, let the drivers install then whenever you connect the phone to the PC the Auto Play option will appear on your PC just click the folder.
You don't need to use Kies it just ensures you get the latest correct drivers, you can google the drivers and install separately if you want.

Hello there.
Please accept my sincere apologies if this thread is posted elsewhere but please believe I have spent hours so far without a distinct, best solution to my problem.
My galaxy s3 is rooted and cwm installed however I'm not sure how to access it from where I am.
I have changed a default dpi and rebooted to find my self in constant bootloop.
Im at the brink of flashing my rom to a custom one to see if it helps but very scared to do so especially not knowing much about it.
I have performed hard reset by going into recovery mode but it didn't help.
Would anyone please be so kind and point me in a right direction please?
just to mention is there any way to recover without loosing my original rom and root access and unlocked sim?
Please help.
I think reflashing ur rom wil do it!
Try reflashing ur current ROM!

Do you have any Nandroid backup (that is CWM backup)?
Or have you backed up builds.prop before you changed LCD density? If yes then restore it.
If you don't have backup (& you don't want to change ROM), then open your current ROM zip in WinRAR on PC, go to system extract only builds.prop and put it on SD Card. Then use Aroma File Manager (Google search it) to put and replace builds.prop. After that fix permissions from CWM Advanced menu and reboot.
If this doesn't work, then you need to flash stock ROM or custom ROM.
