Hi all i've been using this forum to solve my problems with phones for a few mounth now but there's one that i can't ( hence why i joined and the one post count , sorry)
I bought a Hero ( t-mobile ) of ebay and i receive the following message - your sim card does not allow a connection with this network.
( this is with an old T-mobile sim card i had lying around and an 02 sim card ( on contract but shouldn't make a difference if the phone is unlocked? see below ))
I then purchased a Super-xsimIV to unlock the phone to any network (Wanting it on 02) however after many attempts to get the Super-xsim to work i relised that the phone was not supported .
I then decided to buy a code via a website that presumably used a IMEI calculator for an unlock code. I bought one and received it and it allowed the 02 simcard to work(ish!)
However i still receive the error, i have a very stong signal on my present phone with 02 - nokia 5800 so it aint the coverage. I did a bit of digging up on the net and found that the phone could actually be barred via IMEI ( how could i check this ) or that the radio is not functioning properly.
* i know this is illegal, but is there a way to change the IMEI by flashing or another method? I've seen a few tools for the windows mobile OS's but none for the androids.
Sorry if it sound confusing , but any help or suggestions at all are appreciated.
Is your sim too old? Try a recent ie 3UK payg sim.
IMEI change is not encouraged.
As Lord Lucan said, its sounds like a very old sim - get a free 3g one. And I wouldn't recommend changing the IMEI either!
Hi ill try a new sim but the 02 one im trying to use is out of a contract phone ( pay monthly ) that i got in august and it works in my nokia 5800.
sean.... here we are trying to adrress your core problem of mobile data connection. It is only to verify if your data sim has developed any fault.
Sorry i didn't meant to come across ignorant or cocky. I bought a t-mobile sim for 79p and if registers correctly , i then went to the 02 shop and got a new sim. On the 02 sim im still getting the error - could this be due to the new sim needing to be registered etc ( he said 2 -24 for a number transfer )
I think so.
The reason I suggested a 3 USIM to try is because:-
With a H3G sim you can take advantage of free skype calling and WLM for chatting as both require data connection thereby easyway to test data connection without actually paying for it. And its perfectly within H3G guideline.
Hi peeps I need some help over here. Currently my phone is unable to connect to the my network. It shows "No Service" yet I am able to detect networks. Just that I am unable to connect to them. The sim card that I used is working on other phone which shows full reception. To confirm that my HTC Hero has problem, I used another working sim card on it. Nothing has changed though. I am not sure if it is a hardware or firmware problem.
I am using a rooted phone flashed with Elinux Special Edition 2.2.1 Final, Baseband version 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14
Sounds like the imei is blacklisted. Can't do much with that
Sent from my Motorola Startac running Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
How do I check if imei is black listed? I bought this phone first hand.
In fact I had sent to htc for servicing and they told me its the faulty hardware. My phone warranty expired 2 months ago Now they want to charge my an insane price to change the whole phone board Is there anyware to fix this phone because I actually intended to sell this off in 2 months time.
Is your phone locked to a different supplier? Did it used to work with this SIM?

It was working fine that day. The next morning there is no reception as shown in the phone.
Who's your network provider ?
I've had no end of grief with meteor IE, every other sim works fine but meteor only gets a service if you turn off 3g

Hello,
I bought this phone in Malaysia @ Lowyat PLaza.. Paid RM1099.. The Hyundai Multicav Q5L+ has good features & worked Ok in MY using the MY SIMs but when I moved to India (Chennai) it stopped working. When I put my India SIM (Vodafone) and the MY SIM - Tunetalk (it's a dual SIM phone) neither of the network signals seems to pick up. Note, the phone does display that its a Vodafone SIM, Tunetalk SIM etc. but no signal and there is a "cross" displayed next to the signal bar. I tried selecting the network manually but that didn't help. When I contacted the MY vendor (who sold me the phone) he said something about the IMEI range registered on the phone being different than the one in India and hence the phone needs to be patched. Apparently it can be done by some of the service center shops locally. When I went to a few of them, they took a look and couldn't figure out how to fix it for this brand of phone. Note, both the SIMs (incld the MY one which is on roaming) work perfectly well with my old phone which I had purchased in India. So nothing wrong with the SIM cards or the networks in general but something to do with this phone. Any help will be appreciated.
Hi i recently bought a Lenevo Vibe Z2 pro 6 inch smartphone, i appreciate its a 2014 phone but was purchased as brand new from a uk ebay power seller
When i turn the phone on . it does two things alternately on one boot .. the sim 2 had an exclamation mark next to it and sim 1 has an x .. mobile settings such as apn are not active and accessible and the sim settings also cannot be altered, one the 2nd boot ... both sims have an x next to them and the sim settings are active, and also the apn settings which incidently are pre populated to the correct provider vodafone uk, they are even the correct pay as you got internet settings
In Sim Settings how the Sim is Categorised as UNKNOWN .. the ebay advert states the phone is unlocked to all networks in the uk . including vodafone .. .. however is it ??
I have an honor 6 plus which is practically the same as this phone and the sim is fine in that one .. which is unlocked and also chinese ... do you think its a problem with the rom installed by the seller .. the wifi was a problem initially but after three minutes it eventually came on and then the phone rebooted about 7 times before it worked fine . the phone has also since had instances of spontaneously rebooting
I am currently in the process of negotiating to return the item .. unless anyone has any ideas ??? the lenevo forum has clearly moved on from this phone as no reply was forthcoming there
I've a problem with my new Honor 8. I have a Vodafone contract SIM in slot 1 and when I went abroad to St Lucia I bought a local SIM (flow) for slot 2 and switched over to activate that in the settings. A Simple process i have not done before on this phone but have on my previous Motorola Moto G4. The problem is the only network the phone could see was the other carrier on the island (Digicel) who Vodafone use if I used world traveler plus at £6 a day. The SIM worked fine in my friends Samsung J4 so the SIM was OK. I tried the Flow SIM in SIM1 and it still didn't work.? again it detected the Digicel network but not flow? I tried auto search and manual search?. Actuated roaming and mobile data. Re-started the phone countless times. It's like the phone is behaving as if it's locked for Vodafone only (which is what the guys in the flow shop said?) but I bought the phone from Huawei direct through Amazon as unlocked?
It should be simple and straightforward?. I've checked and re-checked the settings many times
Any ideas?
