Unlocking the bootloader? This means custom kernels? Which in turn will allow this device to run AOSP?
P.S. Thank you OP and anyone else involved in this project.

p.s. - many thanks for your effort and subbed for results! expect a donation from me if you are successful

Guys I have been working on this for the past 2 months. I am asking nicely. Do not ask for time stamp. As I have step 1 done. Removing knox. Step 2 (bootloader) will be done in the next few weeks. I am working on this and remodeling are twins room. I will fade in and out of this tread. As I am making progress. Some rom builders will get a message. Asking if they want to be a tester.
Imgs of proof will be posted over the weekend.
And yes there will be a way to reverse back to stock.

I understand our bootloader will be updated when Verizon releases 4.4. Do you recommend holding off on an OTA?

Yes. More then likely we'll find a way to have a flashable version of 4.4 once we get the bootloader unlocked.

If the 4.4.2 comes out before I release this. Go ahead and update. It won't matter for what i am doing. . It will still break verizon bootloader.

I don't have experience working on bootloaders, but just out of curiousity, why does deleting Knox make you so confident that the bootloader can now be unlocked?
Like I said I'm not doubting, just curious.

Look at it this way. Your phone files are like a tree. You find the seed and start building a tree files. Then you can find the sources.

Currently on S-ON want to go to S-OFF!

I am currently rooted and enjoying my current rom. I have been seeing a lot of s-off supported roms and want to switch over. these are my questions.
I am on vigor pvt s-on. I want to go to s-off. how should I begins this process?
What is the main difference between having s-on and s-off.
any answers and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You can start here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612035
Don't worry, the wire trick isn't difficult, you just have to have the timing right.
S-OFF allows you to do quite a few nice things
- Install Kernels via recovery, at the same time as the ROM
- Flash an RUU without relocking the bootloader first
- Nandroid backups will include the kernel
- You can revert to older stuff with no issues.
Basically you gain a lot.

No on the bounty. I have not bypassed the new ME7. I use JTAG to downgrade to MDK from ME7. That's all.

I am gonna have to close this thread. No offense to anyone here, but there is too much confusion.
Just to make everything clear, I have NOT discovered a fix for the ME7.
Again, this is a free service. Paid-for advertisements are not allowed on XDA. I am doing this as a service to the community and will not ever accept money for it. Continue reading please
Just remember that there are people out there (like the developers that make your ROMs and MODs) that need this more than you and that actually need their devices (immediately) functioning properly to continue development and work on your bootloaders. And requesting my help could possible delay me helping them.
That's not to say that only developer's woukd need a service like this. There are extreme circumstances that I am sure will arise and that have in the past. Just make sure you have a good reason. That's all I ask.
And to the Developers/Contributors/Etc., please DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK. The answer is YES.
I can use JTAG to bring a device to a state where it can then be flashed with the MDK via odin. This is nothing new. JTAG has been around forever. It just takes the S4 to a sort of generic state where any stock odin firmware can be flashed. Whether it be ME7 or some other/future update, it can be done and I have recovered my SCH-I545 from an OTA ME7 update at least 5 times and brought it back to MDK to re-unlock and re-root.
JTAG isn't anything to mess around with or anything that can be learned overnight/a week/a year/etc. Its very dangerous. There are services you can pay for on eBay for recovering bricked devices, but there are very few people that do it. And even fewer than that who know how to do more than just unbrick a device. I myself am at the very bottom of the totem pole I'm regards to JTAG. But, I have unbricking/downgrading any of the S4 variants down to an art. And that's about all I can do really well. I am trying to work on the bootloader also, but it is very difficult stuff that I am learning more about everyday.
I mainly wanted to share this with contributors and developers and anyone else that really really needed their device to be fixed (for a good purpose). Or anyone else that was in need of this kind of help badly.

UPDATE: Here is the unlocked bootloader dump. (2GB)

This post on Reddit, shows a claimed "fully operational prototype" that the OP's father received from a friend who works for Samsung.
Here is the about screen.
I worked with the poster, over the weekend, to pull a system dump:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23060877490004987
The .rar contains the MMCBLK's, as well as the contents of /system as requested by Metallice in the original xda thread.
Please let me know if anything else is needed.
Edit: Title change (thanks 2swizzle)
Big thanks to Redditor iDubWheniStep for his patience and cooperation.

I don't think he was ripping anyone saying he's "owed anything". Just exhibiting frustration on a locked bootloader. I too had hoped Sammy would not have gone this route, and more development would continue. Those of us on VZW should come to expect this now, as they are nazis with the bootloader. Bootloader unlock is not a selling point for me, but it does make it more fun.

It is frustrating for those of us on ME7 not to have an unlocked bootloader, but I for one am grateful for the options we DO have right now... you can still root and use Xposed to customize to your liking or use Safestrap and flash a decent amount of roms. I will keep waiting patiently for someone to find an exploit, but in the meantime just shut up and enjoy what options we're even lucky enough to have. You picked Verizon, did you really expect freedom?

[BOUNTY AT&T][LG G2] sbreen94 Hyperdrive ROM Dev-Support Needed *UPDATED 9/25*

*UPDATE 9/25*
Ok guys, sbreen94 spent some of his precious time and blindly built a ROM for the AT&T G2 in hopes to give you guys a taste of what would be to come. We had some trouble getting it to boot, so he is going to stop for now since he has other development projects that he can spend his time on.
The only true way for him to work his magic would be to get a device into his hands. As of now we only have CleanROM. That's great for a stock, debloated experience and it definitely serves a purpose. But if you want an experience with a tons more customization, then Hyperdrive will be a great addition to our dev community.
I have added some pics to the OP of the tweaks and customizations from his S4 that you could eventually expect here.
Please let me know if you are interested and how much you would like to donate!
*UPDATE*
With the recent developments today of obtaining Loki and TWRP, we are a full go for ROM development and flashing. Hopefully this bounty catches steam because Scott would be the perfect dev to get us our first super tweaked and customized ROM. Let's do this!
-----------------------------------------
Hey guys, I promised my good buddy Scott (sbreen94), the dev from the infamous Hyperdrive series of ROM's that I would make a bounty thread for him to try and get a G2 in his hands. For those of you not familiar with him, here is his XDA profile link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4600715
I will quickly start off about why I am doing this. Before I moved to AT&T about two months ago, I was on Verizon and had a S4. The phone was a lagfest and sbreen94's ROM, Hyperdrive, was the only ROM that eliminated the lag on the S4. Between launcher tweaks, build.prop tweaks, etc, he was able to make that phone fly. Not only that, he adds a crazy amount of customization options. His ROM was absolutely second to none on the Verizon S4. I will 100% vouch for the quality of his ROM's and I think he would be an enormous asset to the G2 community. He is a great guy and is always willing to help. When I came to AT&T, I had a S4 for the first two months before I got my G2 last week. Scott and I were testing his ROM to try and port it to AT&T. He spent countless hours sending me test ROM's and AT&T packs. We were super close right before I got the G2.
My goal is to get an AT&T G2 in his hands and I am asking for support here in this thread. I am looking to raise $600 for Scott to get his awesome ROM on this device. And look, I totally understand that the bootloader is in question, as well as custom recovery. I am obviously asking for no money up front and if custom ROM's don't look very promising, then you can definitely go back on your pledge. All I ask is that if you are interested, please make a pledge in this thread and I will keep the tally. If and when we reach $600, you guys can send your pledge to Scott via his PayPal ([email protected]). I am in for the first $50, but I will definitely go up from there if there is a lot of interest and we get close enough to the $600.
To look at examples of his excellent work, here are links to 3 of his ROM's:
S4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301724
S3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106830
Note 10.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294477
Thanks everyone for your time, and let's get this man a G2 to get a killer ROM on our shiny new devices! Please feel free to ask me any questions as I am in frequent contact with Scott. :good:

Let me chime in real quick. I am very familiar with sbreens hyperdrive ROM. I've had it on my gs3 and my fiances note 10.1. It has all the customizations anyone can ask for and it is incredibly smooth so... When I get paid I will pledge because other than the M.O.A.R ROM hyperdrive is thee most customizable rom you can get and I can understand why this bounty is brought about. Look this guy up he is an elite developer. Yes he is one of the top 5 developers in the past year. Look him up. Good idea OP
Will he be porting this over to VZN G2?
Well frankly speaking, I develop ROM for lg devices only & i'm quiet familiar with their frameworks..

We don't need the bootloader unlocked to flash a custom rom. For all we know an exploit could be released today, and at least we would be ahead of the curve by taking pledges for donations.

All the devs I messaged will not accept a rom development donation at all until the BL is exploited/unlocked, they will however take all the help they can get to buy the device though
Edit: OP I just noticed the title of this thread is for the AT&T model, that might hinder funding here. Correct me if im wrong but doesnt Hyperdrive span across all carriers in the aroma installer? Maybe the title should be changed for all carriers? just a thought
Does it need to have an unlocked bootloader since there's a custom twrp now?
What would be better about having an unlocked bootloader?

Nope, don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash roms, that is what Loki is gonna allow us to do. We are a total green light for flashing roms!
Let's get this man the phone! I promise you won't be disappointed.

OP updated.

Development is about to get real active!! (Loki and TWRP Ported)

So this what you all have been waiting for, earlier today djrbliss ported Loki to the G2, For those that are unaware djrbliss is the man responsible for Loki on various devices such as the GS4, OG Pro, etc.
Loki is a tool for developers that allows them to prepare custom recovery images and kernels suitable for flashing on these devices, which have locked bootloaders. It is not a bootloader unlock!! The rest of the Freegee Dev Team is still hard at work at releasing a working unlock method. The more exploits the better for everyone.
Also Dees_Troy built a working TWRP for our devices, the Dev threads should be up soon. Look for them
A very special thanks to djrbliss for Loki, Dees_Troy for TWRP, and the rest of the LG Freegee dev team on IRC. who constantly strive to make our devices that much more enjoyable to use.
to donate to bliss for making this possible Donate to djrbliss:

Thanks for coming here and giving us a heads up. Maybe this will help quell some of the "why no development??" posts on the board!

This News Excites Me....
Crap.... now I'm going to be refreshing the forum all day... thanks.... haha
I guess I wont be productive for a little lol
Update: looking real good at least for ATT, VZW testing right now.
Wow.
In all seriousness, if this phone gets bootloader unlock this quick, I will likely purchase this phone immediately. Hell, is there a bounty going on for bootloader unlock? I don't even have this phone yet and I would contribute some beers.

Probably just not having a T-mobile tester at the moment. But yeah, if it can be done on an AT&T version I'm sure it will be the same for T-mobile.
