I've always had an issue when moving from one rom to another. Essentially I backup my close to 10,000 sms messages, and when I install the new rom attempt to restore them via SMS Backup and Restore app. After doing so it results in the stock messaging app becoming unusable and crashes, which results in lost service and a slew of other problems. As of late I started freezing the stock messaging app with TB and use Go SMS instead, but now I can't receive MMS. Anybody have a sure fire solution? Thanks
No one wants to help? I'd really appreciate some input. Thanks

I have over 10k messages I use to restore (SMS Backup & Restore) without problems, gone through basically every rom you can think of.
And yes I also use GoSms, cause after 1k messages the stock SMS decides it wants to lag like crazy.
Does the stock messaging app crash even when you're not using it? (When you leave it unfrozen)

Yes it crashes regardless. I wouldn't mind if I could leave it alone and not worry about it, but whenever I boot the phone back up and its unfrozen it crashes my phone and it loses signal. Miui is the only rom this didn't happen to, which is why I'm still using it.

Still looking for a solution. The newer version of backup and restore lets you restore message from a certain date on, but not before that date. I feel like if I restored it in two stages with a reboot in between it would have any issues, but I have yet to find a simple method of doing so.

I was having this same issue after restoring my SMS/MMS messages. Then I used SMS Backup + to back them all up to my gmail account. After that I wiped them all out from my phone, and the stock app was still crashing, so I started using GO SMS again. A couple days later, the stock app just started working by itself all of a sudden when I got a notification for an SMS message in my status bar. I'm not sure what fixed it.

Did you try clearing the sms cache through manage apps?? sometimes doing this helps clear up glitches, I did this when I had the Phantom VM bug. not sure if it will work for this but its worth a shot.
Hope this helps
Thanks for all the input guys. I was able to restore my messages in 4 chunks. Worked great, just took forever. Thanks

Hey, I saw this has been a while, but I am trying to do the exact same thing as you. How were you able to restore it in chunks?
Hi there, i have been using sms Backup & Restore for a while now since i have been swapping a lot of roms and i wanted to keep my smses safe with this program. It has been working flawlessly until now. I flashed rgui miui b9 and when i tried to restore my smses i got my conversations split in two. Its not like i have my Messages in two times Its Just that they are split. I am uploading an ss to let you get what im saying.

i think thats relevant with miui. i used miui on my old galaxy sl. same issue happened to me. the solution is not certain but you can try changing your contact number , add the country code the numbers and restore your smses again. let me know its worked or not.
Sorry for my English.
You mean add the full Number on the selected Contact? The Number is 12345 and i added +30 on front of it. Still no luck any more ideas?

Hey all,
I've been having major issues receiving any MMS messages throu GO SMS Pro. I have no idea why this is happening. My device is rooted using InsertCoin 1.1.3 and stock kernal. I have no idea where my stock MMS app went because I wanted to go back to that app since the GO SMS MMS feature is not working. Any ideas on how to get MMS working or how to get the stock messaging app back? Many thanks!
Just reflash the rom zip and all system apps will be restored.
Should I wipe before reflashing

No need. Wiping is just to eliminate conflicts between different ROMs. There will be no conflict if you are not changing.

I upgraded from a rooted stock S3 to a S4. I did a fresh backup with TB before moving my sdcard to the S4. All my apps+data restored fine except for my text messages. I use handcent instead of the stock app. When i try to restore the messaging data it erases the texts I have and then shows a failed message in the status bar. Any ideas why? I still have the S3 if I need to have it to fix my problem.
Thanks in advance

Try an app called SMS Backup & Restore, I use that and it works great. They just landed an update a couple days ago that fixed an issue restoring messages to the S4, so perhaps that's the issue you're running into that hasn't been fixed yet.
Thanks. I'll give it a try.

Guys, I need help. I have the I9300 running Temasek's CM11 ROM V6 and want to edit the APNs in the settings. Currently MMS doesn't work with any of the settings listed. I can't edit any of them and I can't delete any of them. What's worse is I think because there's so many already there I can't even create new APNs. What can I do to get rid of these useless APNs?
So far I tried a 3rd party app but that failed because third party editing is now blocked on 4.0 upwards. So I'm stuck, without a service I'm paying for.
Any help is much appreciated thank you.

Sounds like a rom issue, ask in your rom thread. Else go back to stock.
