switch back to 4.3 no more wifi - AT&T LG Optimus G

i was on houstonns PA beta 3. i wanted the Blacklist function that cm has so i switched to cm. Now no long has wifi , i factory restored on cm and wipe cache. tried on both 10.2 stable and 1/30 nightly cm 11. any idea ?

Was there a kernal or radio change? I'd start with reflashing the radio. If that's not it I'm sure someone else will chime in with a solution.

Its a different ROM so I think kernel was different. Radio remained unchanged. Flashed back PA and WiFi working right away.

flashing anything removes baseband and signal

the other day i DL and flashed CM7 trigger redux. i love everything about it except the stock kernal. when i first flashed the rom everything i flashed after that would take away my baseband and my signal completely, rendering my phone useless unless i connected to a wifi. i then managed to get a kb5 modem for cm7.1, which worked just fine. however i still cannot get a kernal on my phone. i took the cm7 kernals for 2.3.4, including platypus and the nightlys [they are all located in the bible]
im guessing since the 7.1 modem flashed just fine, i need to find a kernal for cm7.1?
are there any in circulation atm? or would the cm website be the best place for these kernals?
i apologize for the noob questions, but i am new to 2.3

what kernel are you flashing?
look for an updated version of the kernel.
If there is not one, don't flash the kernel.

I'm on version 2.3.4 I figured I could flash a kernel updated to that version via the bible. Or is cm7.1 something completely different?

Yeah my imei number is there. This is crazy, I've never had any problems flashing anything before. Its like my phone won't let me flash any other kernel, but the one that comes with cm7. I can flash cm7.1 modems just fine though

Google "vibrant glitch" and get v11. (Make sure you get the vibrant one and not any of the other versions)

How the hell did you know that kernal was going to work? What makes this kernal different then the others I tried?

There are 3 kernels right now for the vibrant updated enough to work with the latest nightlies. But only glitch and kernel de jour have been updated, and personally glitch seems to be better (plus, I'm running glitch v11 right now and have been following that thread).
I'm pretty sure all the CM7 kernel links in the bible are too old and therefore, you lose your baseband.

Haven't flashed in a while, do we have to worry about going back to HC from ICS?

So I have had a nightly CM9 on my GT for a while now. I recently got a Samsung Epic 4G Touch for my phone and there are tons of restrictions on which rom/kernal/recovery that you have to be on to go back and forth between ICS and GB.
Just wondering if I want to go back to a HC rom that I can just flash away and now worry about that. I can't remember if I ever when back to HC from ICS on my Tab.
Thanks
overcome rom
I have had some booting problems when trying to go from ice to hc . I tried a few but if u flash overcome hc rom u will be safe then you can flash any other Hc rom u like. I have done it a few times. Or if u are familiar with Odin you can use that without a hitch. Make sure u do a data wipe cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe Before u flash.
I go from ics to honeycomb on my tab all the time, and don't have any issues. Just remember to go into cwm and factory reset and wipe cache / dalvik before you flash.

What's your favorite ics rom if you don't mind me asking

I've switched between Overcome and CM9 without any issues - just make sure you do the usual backup, and wipe data/cache/dalvik cache.
I'm currently playing with CM9 Nightly, and AOKP - both seem pretty stable apart from the touch screen locking every now and then.

Unless you're totally bricked you can always restock with ODIN.

I have used both Cyanogenmod9, and AOKP build 36. Both are excellent ICS builds, and both have different options that make them stand out from each other. I can't say either one is better, but I started with CM9 so I tend to lean to that one more. My only gripe is probably the same gripe everyone else has: the camera doesn't work. It won't work until official ICS comes out, and I've accepted that. For that reason, task14 is my go-to ROM.

Thanks all, I just wanted to make sure since the Epic 4G Touch has so many restrictions on how to flash back forth between ICS and GB.
I have to restock my Tab with Odin and an 'official' ROM from samsung-updates.com first.
Trying to go back directly from AOKP to Overcome or Infamous with CWM Recovery leeds to bootloops for me or the ROM just won't install in Recovery...

Wifi to work in AOSP

It's been well documented on here that in order for wifi to work on AOSP ROM's you need to flash an ICS ROM first then go back so im downloading Omega 13.1 now but my question is do i have to actually be connected to wifi when flashing the ICS ROM or can i just have it enabled and do i need to flash using Odin or can i use CWM,i then want to go back to Liquid Jellybean, can someone please post the necessary steps i need to take.
Cheers
I went straight from LI8 to liquid 2.0 Rc3 and wifi works just fine.

oh really, ok i was under the impression that i had to flash an ICS ROM first, i tried wifi tethering on Liquid Jelly Bean and it wont work but it works fine with Dragon 1.7 ROM
Haven't used wifi tethering but that may be a rom issue.

Flashing Question

Do I need to worry about how many times I flash my device? will it get bad or something like the motherboard go bad? I just got this phone used yesturday and want to know if i need to wory as this isnt a brand brand new ive already flashed it more than three times trying too chose the best rom and im kinda worried.
No need to worry, just make sure you wipe data and caches before installing a new rom. Let the phone sit for at least ten minutes after flashing too, then reboot. Just a heads up, stay away from ICS roms, they have the EU bug that renders your internal sd card useless.

ICS is 4.0, jelly bean is 4.1, 4.2 or 4.3. I can't say which version that ROM is, been awhile since I've messed with ROMs. Go to settings then about phone and see what your firmware version is. If your on 4.0 then you should upgrade to jelly bean immediately, JB doesn't have the EU bug.

Help cm rom

I went from Jedi 17 to CM10.2 and now it's not letting me go back to Jedi. I have wiped the phone and returned to stock. I have re-rooted the phone but only CM based ROMs will work. Any clues or suggestions? Thanks
Try factory wipe and install the new rom.... this should work
