The unlock team is a rip off - G2 General

http://theunlockteam.com/
After inputting my model and IMEI they assured me they could unlock my 803, so i gave them 10 dollars Canadian only to get an automated email stating they couldnt unlock and I would get a refund within 7 working days, after 7 days i sent email inquiring and they sent me another email stating it coud take 12 working days, 13 working days later still no refund. COMPLETE RIPP-OFF !!!
Ended up getting unlocked for 2 dollars Canadian on ebay from phone.market (13805 )

For any future reader, you should use unlockcode247.com to unlock your G2 since they have the cheapest price. Me and other users of xda have used it and we only paid 2$ to unlock our G2s and it worked perfectly. Don't get taken by scam and thieves.
Here's the link for anyone wanting to unlock their LG G2: http://unlockcode247.com/imei/5/15/LG--Instant
There's also another thread somewhere about this.

I used this site early in the week to unlock an old Samsung of mine and found it to be a very pleasant experience. I got a code which I wanted and it was delivered pretty fast considering my carrier told me at least a week and wanted three times the money! I guess they do fail sometimes but that's just life aint it.

Always used ebay, sort from lowest to highest price haven't failed me yet (5x) if it don't work only lose like $2...

Was for 24 months... Phone was given free of charge..and a they are an autherised tmob reseller, you get the same internet as if you had purchased from tmobile directly...unlike buying from a 3rd party reseller...
Link to there current deal for new contracts...though you may get better as an upgrade as i did

Awesome, i think will give them a bell when i get home and see what they offer me.
Just had a look at my t-mobile and i can get the handset for £180 if i stay on my current £20.56 a month contracts (for another 18 months)... tempting

Why wait for orange?
If you're with orange and due an upgrade phones4u will do it. As far as i'm aware it's the same as upgrading through orange except phones4u get a cut.
I got the standard pack through from orange thanking me for staying with them, kept the same number etc......
Plus now i've got a nice unbranded phone without all the "lovely" orange extras.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Managed to get a Samsung Galaxy S 2 for £9 for the handset and Flex 35 over 18 months

WHATTTTT??? WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS????
I called and spoke to some really nice woman and she checked on their internal "coming soon" list and said that, she can see the GSII will be coming but no date. (This is in spite of the fact the "consumer" websites says June)
So where did you see that you can get it from them direct?
(My contract is such, that I could only do a straight call-up and delivery (regular) upgrade.)
I first saw it as an option when i logged into t-mobile.
Called them literally 2 hours ago and they were offering some horrendous £35 plus contracts for the handset...

Sorry to be so immature BUT OMG!!! Things must have changed since literally a few days ago!
I'm going to try and log in now. (I'm on my dad's business contract so hopefully it will cover it )
And as for the price, it is indeed a very expensive phone.
I've phoned T-Mobile up twice and both times, I've been told they're stocking them, but their internal "coming soon" doesn't actually have a release date!
However the GSII, is on their website.
So if anyone orders from T-Mobile directly, could they please inform us, and when it actually gets delivered??

I did try, but the shop here couldn't process the order.
I phoned on Saturday, they said they'd got a shipment that very morning. Mine should arrive tomorrow; I'll be happy to answer any questions
Worth noting that if you order online or over the phone, you get a 7 day cooling off period, so if you don't like T-Mobile, or your contract, or the phone, or your cat's reaction to the phone or anything else, you can send it back and the contract goes away
Source:
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/common/returns_policy.html
From what I've read, this does not apply instore. When I first signed up with T-Mobile 18 months ago in a brick-and-mortar store, I asked about this.
Me: "Do you have a cool-off policy?"
Sales guy: "Yes, we have a policy, and that policy is that we have no cool-off period."

Its not specific to T-mobile. Its a statutory protection offered in the distance selling regulations and applies to all distance sales.
I had my T-Mobile SGS2 delivered this morning.
I phoned T-Mobile up on Friday evening and they said they have just got in a delivery of SGS2's so I upgraded to it.
It has got the T-Mobile logo on boot. Havn't tried any other sim cards but I am quite sure it will be locked.
Anything anybody wants me to check?

Best way to buy a v10 with no contract.

I thought I could buy the v10 through Tmobile without a contract. Pay full price but the person on their chat told me it wasn't possible. So, Im looking for suggestions as to the best options to buy the phone w/o contract and with some type of warranty.

You can buy the phone from T-Mobile without a contract but you do need a plan.
Just talk to a different person imo.
If all else fails you can purchase it with a cheap pay as you go plan.
The cheapest I think is $3 for 30 min.
You however will have quite a few hurdles to jump through to get it unlocked from T mobile.
They require at least $100 to be spent on your account and 40 days of active service to unlock it.
You can get around those if you are lucky, some people have not been able to.
If you can do without warranty, your best option may be to use a service like swappa.com
You can buy new and used phones from people there.
Just make sure to check the condition of the phones before purchasing, also note if they are unlocked or not if you will be using a service other than T mobile.
If you must have a warranty of some kind, there are after purchase options available from places like squaretrade, however they are more expensive than I personally think they are worth.
Good luck finding your new phone.
You sure can buy it outright.

@L0x -- any luck??
I got mine from AT&T right after the release. I spent a bunch of time on various chats until I got someone who told me that I could get the phone unlocked within 3 to 5 days after purchase. Added to cart with the cheapest plan & ordered.
AT&T auto-activated the phone when it showed delivered. As I am using the phone in Europe on Vodafone, this was a problem. It took, all said and done, probably 8 hours across a month and a half on chat, twitter, and phone calls to get AT&T to send me the unlock code, cancel the plan, and wipe the account balance to zero. Unlock code was immediate, the rest took the longest. I didn't mind harassing them very much because I had my unlocked phone.
After it was all said and done, I have the AT&T variant with an unlock code, running on Vodafone, with nothing paid to AT&T except the cost of the phone. It takes time, persistence, and patience to make it happen.

Not yet per say. I'm about 2 weeks out from purchasing. Holiday kicked my ass. But I will update this thread when I purchase. I'm weighing right now actually going with a Tmobile plan. I use Metropcs right now. Just not liking the 20$ more a month for less data.
I'm in Canada. Bought mine from Best Buy in NYC. They give the option for a friend to pick up. Works great

Returning note 7 bought from craigslist (canada)

So for those who bought n7 from kjiji or craigslist and have no bill of sale, apparently you can email [email protected] and get a replacement for your n7. No refund unless you got a bill of sale. Has anyone tried this? I sent them an email for my n7 so we will see what happens. Here is their reply so far:
"Dear Valued Customer
Thank you for contacting Samsung Note7 Exchange and Refund Support Team.
In order to process your request, please provide the following information:
Name:**
Address:*******
Phone Number:**
Email:*
Model Number:**
IMEI:***
Place of Purchase:*****
For a full refund of your Note7 device, we will require a Bill of Sale. Customers eligible for a refund will be shipped a pre-paid-address box to return Note7 devices. Once we receive all returned devices a refund will be issued. This will take approximately 2-4 weeks based on the agreement date. Agreement date is reflective on the date that your device is shipped back.
If you do not have a bill of sale then you may qualify for a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge exchange*. Customers eligible for an exchange will be shipped a pre-address box to return Note7 devices. Once we receive all returned devices a refund will be issued. This will take approximately 2-4 weeks based on the agreement date. Agreement date is reflective on the date that your device is shipped back. *Based on product availability and customers eligibility.*
Note: If your device was not purchased from an authorized Canadian Carrier and Retailer promotional offer will not be provided. Promotional offer is specific to each Carrier and Retail partner.
Please allow for 2 business days for your request to be processed once all of the above information is provided.
Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.* As a recalled product, it is mandatory that all Note7 original and replacement devices be returned.
For Note7 general return inquiries, Canadian customers should contact 1-855-747-6520.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Samsung Note7 Exchange and Refund Support Team"
Update: so Samsung got bk to me and I can exchange my n7 to s7 edge.. Yay
"Dear Valued Customer,
*
Thank you for contacting Samsung Note7 Exchange and Refund Support Team.
*
Your case is categorized under 3rd party purchase; which means you purchased your device from an unauthorized reseller (for example: Craigslist, Kajiji, EBay, Private seller) that only qualifies for a Galaxy S7 Edge exchange.
*
We will ship a pre-paid- address box to your shipping address so you can promptly return your Note7 recalled device to Samsung as instructed.
*
Once we receive your Note 7 device through our system, we will promptly issue you a new S7 Edge device as an exchange.
*
This will take approximately 2-3 weeks based on the agreement date.
*
The agreement date is reflective on the date that your device is shipped back to Samsung."
Nov 23 Update 2 got the shipping box from enr support and sent my n7 today. Let's see how long it takes for them to send me my replacment s7 edge.
Update Dec 21 got an email from Samsung that they received new stocks and will ship my replacement in couple of days. This makes it exactly a month since i sent my N7 for replacement.
that is correct as far as i know.
I have bought another note 7 aside from my own for a friend. Unfortunately was not able to unlock it.
They gave her the same email for exchange. I will wait for few more people on the unlock code if it is unsuccessful then we will have to return the device to samsung and get s7 edge+100$ gift card.
As for my personal note 7, even tho it has 60% battery im keeping this until the end.
Now as far as the program itself and whether or not you get the return, i do not know. Keep us updated if you go for it before i do.

Will do. I would have kept mine too and don't mind the 60% battery cap but i hate the annoying popups. Plus sooner or later they will blacklist and I can't afford to buy another phone.
I bought one off of Kijiji, and I want to return it to Samsung for an exchange since Rogers won't let me return it to them - but what if the guy who sold it to me already returned the original one to Samsung? Mine has a green battery, so I know it's a replacement device.
I'm just worried about sending my $1000 phone to Samsung and having them say that they already sent the other guy an S7!

Imho you're lucky to have received an answer that quickly. Or maybe I'm just unlucky. Here is a list of my interactions with Samsung Customer support so far:
-Chat support saying she will transmit my information to the exchange team and I should receive an email from them "as soon as possible"
-Phoning Samsung Canada, who said (at the time) they couldn't do anything if I bought the phone on Kijiji.
-Phoning the Note 7 Return number, who took my infos and said they would transmit it to Samsung Canada exchange team (even if I said chat support had already done so).
-After two weeks, having another chat support who did the same thing but was unable to tell me if I had a support ticket ongoing.
-Samsung Office of the President customer support complain, received a confirmation email saying they would answer the next business day... 10 business days later, they still haven't.
-Another chat support who FINALLY informed me of the existence of the enrsupport email adress for Note 7 exchange. Sent them an email the same day as you (except in the morning). Didn't get an answer yet.
Any tips? Should I just wait? They never wanted to say how long was "as soon as possible", but seeing they seem to have been more reactive with other people... I just dunno what to do.

It took awhile for me too to get a reply from them... 3days. But the first email was right away... Asking for info...automatic. Just wait a bit they will get to you. I think the enrsupport devision was created newly to deal with cases like ours and perhaps that is why Samsung online chat nd phone had no clue what to do.

T Mobiles 8 weeks or our 8 weeks ?
I have been unfortunate enough to have used t mobiles promos twice in the past, one was for the two free lines and the other was when I joined them and they promised to pay my ETF fees ( 3 years ago that was ).
The former took approx 5 months to fix, as I was continuesly being charged for the 2 extra "free" lines , my monthly bills were running almost $300 for 5 months until it got resolved.
The latter, with the ETF , lets just say it took them approx 8 weeks to send out the prepaid Mastercard with credit on it, luckily for me I had the spare cash at the time to pay ATT their ETF fees else I would have been screwed , was approx $700 or so.
With both my relatively bad experiences I no longer wished to take up the Note8 buy one get one free, wife paid for hers and I paid for mine ( we have seperate bank accounts- dont hate ) LOL
I only had good experience with T-Mobile/Samsung promotions, and I kinda chased them... (Note 5 T-Mo BOGO and rebates, Samsung gifts, T-Mo S7 edge BOGO, T-Mo Netflix for a 1 year, Pixel Promo and other)
If you submit clean and accurate paperwork, you'll mostly get your rebate approved in 6 to 8 weeks and the check or card 2 weeks after that. Just like they said.
My BOGO was actually denied. Reason, JOD customers are not actually eligible for this deal. I called T-mobile and explained that I had calls several times to confirm that both lines would be eligible; after researching they paid off my JOD device and we just now have the other Note 8 on my wife's line. If you are denied I would calll especially if your situation is similar.

I was on JOD for almost 2 years. Had enough , and got rid of it , especially after when I found out it wasn't "special" anymore. Meaning anyone could get it . Three of my 4 lines were JOD. Not anymore.

Does anybody know if they ship the pre-order accessories for both phones in one shipment? I'm hoping... since I just got shipping confirmation.

No. It could happen but with so many things backordered is not likely.
I'm glad I checked in on this thread. I called Tmo customer support and it turns out nothing had been done with my BOGO credit. This was the first time I have attempted this and I didn't even know there were things that were supposed to be done on my end. The service rep got me taken care of though, so all good. They did tell me though that they had been having alot of issue of late with the BOGO.
I was denied even though I brought four lines over within the time period permitted by the promotion. After an hour with a rep on Twitter, they fixed it and I should have my rebate in a few weeks. They blamed it on me paying off one of the phones and that both should have been on EIP. Obviously, that is a stupid thing to say since the offer is buy one, get one. Not buy one, don't pay it off, then get the other free.

You were absolutely correct. I got 2 different ship confirmation emails from Samsung.
BTW...BOGO credit status check can be done online. https://promotions.t-mobile.com/OrderSearch :highfive:
Got denied today, rebate status page said i didn't have a qualifying line, the store and reps on phone told me it was all good several times, but it still got denied. Called them after denial, they said they could fix it but they would have to transfer me to someone "higher" up the food chain over there to get the aproval, was on hone for 2 hours, gave up,and will have to fight this one out tomorrow.
Get you boxing gloves ready, cause this sounds like a fight is coming for some of us.....

Don't sweat it, I had that problem with the S7 promo last year but they took care of it. I'd does need to go to another group higher up but the process wasn't that bad.

Class Action Lawsuuit to pay $400 if settled

Has anyone seen this yet?
https://www.engadget.com/2019/04/11/google-and-huawei-nexus-6p-settlement/
Apologies if it was posted already.

I'm sceptic that this concerns European user as much as folks in the USA.
At least some get compensated.
:/
i wonder what it takes to qualify, i made a claim and they told me to pay up a month after the warranty ended so i just replaced the phone

Did you even read the article? Its breaks down what to expect versus what you can offer as proof.
And what do you mean by replaced the device? Got a new 6p without the issue? Or sold/threw it out and got a different device ?
The long form that I saw in several different articles are missing pertinent information like an incomplete email address or calling 1-877 (blank).
They wouldn't replace my phone 2 days out of warranty, KNOWING it had issues from the start. I contacted Huawei via email and got the same crappy customer service I got 2 years ago (no response.)
Anyone find a claim form with an email or phone number included? I've got the receipt but not sure I can prove anything unless Huawei has a record of my phone call.
Thanks
Has anyone heard anything about their settlement yet? I submitted my settlement claim during the summer and haven't heard anything about it. I was hoping to use some of it to buy a new Pixel.
I submitted my paperwork on time, but have still heard nothing. Has anyone else heard anything yet?

I got mine yesterday. $400. Completely shocked! I totally forgot about the whole lawsuit.
Holy fu¢k! Just got $325 today. I was just thinking about it last week and googled it. Looked like nothing was getting paid. What a nice surprise! Was such a great phone, do miss it, and happy they finally took some blame.
