Hi, have you used the correct server?
for example if you use Office 365 you need to use this server outlook.office365.com
and not m.outlook.com as regularly seen.
Chris
Did you do a app/data restore or a clean install and then manually configure your account?
I had this problem when I restored the app and wound up having to manually reconfigure my account from scratch. I also had to use the IP address for my mailserver instead of the FQDN/DNS name because apparently Touchdown can't resolve DNS entries.

You need to clear all app data and configure it again manually (automatic method does not work good)

Hey all,
On my SGS 2 right from the get go, I cant add an IMAP or POP account to the phone.
When it goes to check the incoming settings, it connects to the server (I can see the logs as its my mail server), logs in and then the email app closes.
I've reset to factory defaults etc and no difference.
My Exchange account, hotmail acct etc are all fine. I just cant add an IMAP or POP account.
Running CF-Root 4.0 on Ke7 kernel. (also tried with stock kernel as well of course)
Ay ideas?
Weird, considering Hotmail is just POP?

Hotmail is a 'premium' service.
Its certainly very strange, and im completely stumped right now. Im using K-9 in the meantime, but I dont really like K-9 that much.
My first thought was it's something wrong with my mail server (using courier-imap and couriier-pop) but it does it on ANY pop or imap account. (at least that I have access to)
UPDATE: If I purposely get the login details wrong, the app will report incorrect login, but wont crash. Only if the login is valid does it crash
My stock email client configured to connect to exchange via notifylink crashes whenever I try to open a larger email. Sorry this has nothing to do with your issue, but maybe it will give you some pointers.

Odd, well I am guessing it's some weird setting in your mail server. Most likely it's your mail server is following the RFC, but the stock email app isn't XD

You and I would assume that as well, but I've tried it on a different server type in a different data center in a different country and it still FC's
I'm completely baffled...
Dear All,
I have tried asking this in few forums but nothing concrete has turned up. I am truly hoping that somebody can resolve this problem for me.
Here goes,
3 days ago my email app was working fine. i was using IMAP and it is Google apps email address. The separate gmail app i used to use for my personal email address. I was using Frankenstein XWKJ2 and got a boot loop while installing an APK. then i used CWM and restored a backup and unfortunately it was XWKJ1 backup. Just after this restore the email problems started. and now i have tried everything including factory reset but still my email does not work.
But funny thing is Gmail app works perfectly it is only when i configure the Email app for my official address that they do not work. The email app allows me to add and all but while syncing it just keeps refreshing and finally shows no emails. I know we can use K9 but i found the Stock email app very good.
Somebody please help out. I am now on XWKJ2 Firmware (Frankenstein) and Speed MOD kernel.
You should try reflash ROM

You can try the following:
1. Open Settings => Applications => Manage applications.
2. Goto "All" and select E-Mail (if there are two E-Mail apps then do it for both of them).
3. Click "Force stop", "Clear data" and "Clear cache" (if available).
4. Start E-Mail app and configure your GMail account.
Good luck !

@It_ler. Thanks for the idea. I tried it but it is same result. The email app keeps refreshing but does not show any emails.
I will try to give more information i am having a personal normal Gmail address and then my company address is google apps address.
Now my Personal gmail address if i configure in Email app it works perfect but when i do the same thing with the google apps address it does not. Also as for re flashing i have done it quote some times now with complete wipes.
also another funny thing is if i use K9 email then it all works. But frankly i want to use stock email as i was getting used to it.
any solutions.

Still not working. :-(.. Somebody please help out.
This problem resolved by itself when i upgraded to ICS. While upgrading i did a complete wipe and everything started working normally.
Hence request to close the thread.
I am testing MailDroid as an replacement mail app on my ICS SII for getting my mail from an exchange server. I am using the free version with ads -- parallel to the native mail app.
What amazes me, is the data usage of the MailDroid compared with the Exchange Services is round about 10 to 15 times higher then with the native app.
Is that normal? Does anybody has a recommendation of a exchange mail client that behaves a little more reasonable?
I haven't tried it in a very long time, but maybe the reason for high traffic is that it refreshes (re-downloads) the mail each time, rather than making the incremental changes it should?

Recommended Exchange Mail Client?
Thanks UpInTheAir. Any recommendation for an other exchange mail client?
I can not get K9 to work with our exchange server. Any hint on what I should try next would help (Touchdown?, Moxier? Others?).

I'm not sure if you're rooted, but I have used a modded exchange email app for my hotmail accounts. Fairly basic and no html, but worked with push and changes made were reflected on the server if settings are changed to "update to server in case of conflict".
Just need to remove account, clear both email and exchange data/cache in applications immediately before booting into CWM to flash zips. Will force close but don't worry. After flash, may force close again, but clear again. If still have issues, do same and reboot into CWM recovery, clear cache & dalvik & fix permissions.

Sorry for the long post.
I have a gmail account and a hotmail account. Gmail works fine but hotmail is not syncing with the phone. I can see on the web app of hormail that I have received new email but I press the sync button on the mail app and nothing happen. I verified the password and is the correct one. I was reading that it happening to some people on the s3.
Tried to delete the account on setting/accounts and it say that some apps need the hotmail account and that I need to reset the device to factory. Tried to delete the account from the email app and it shows me "delete account failed-503 service unavailable" I have been looking through the forum and cant find an answer. Is there's a way I can delete without resetting ? im stock but rooted Thanks in advance
Figured out! deleted the stock email data from titanium backup and it deleted the account. Set it up again and seems to becworking fine!
You could also clear the data on the mail app...once cleared, go back to the email app and youll run the set up all over again

When I flash new rom, I try to avoid following....
1. dirty flashing (flashing over existing rom without wiping my own ass)
-> sometimes creates problems with functionality, but not always
2. retrieving titanium backup with yellow lettered internet bookmark, all red lettered datas, and any 'Account' data.
a)For internet bookmark, retrieve green lettered one but not the yellow one. Retrieving both yellow and green ones will combine 2 same bookmarks.
b)Do not save nor retrieve any red lettered datas.
c) Do not save or retrieve any 'Account' data which is on the list among other datas(regardless of what color it is), or it may create functionality problems such as syncing your email.

I tried to delete on the mail app but it was giving me an error. Then I went to TB and wiped the data there and it worked. I was able to setup again
Hello,
I am having the same problem with my note2, only for my yahoo account. I am not familiar with the solution listed above as I don't know what Titanium backup is. I have not done anything to my Note since I got it, as far as changing ROM or anything. What is the best way to resolve this since I can't delete the account?
Thanks
Is there anyone that can help with this problem? I have a stock Note 2 and my yahoo account stopped updating out of nowhere. Now it also won't recognize my login info so I can't send messages either. I have installed the Yahoo app but prefer to use the stock email app for one stop to all my email.
Any suggestions welcome...

Try going to Settings, then Application Manager. Find the email application and clear data. Exit from the application manager and then open your email app and set up your yahoo account again.

Stanz,
Yahoo mail works better for me if I set it up manually. You can let the email app find the servers and such on its own, but that's where I've had most of my problems. If you follow the prompts in a manual set up its pretty intuitive. Delete your Yahoo account and try that.

I wasn't able to delete the accounts. It was giving me a timeout error. I went to titanium back up and wiped the data ftom the stock email. Then I setup again the email as "others"
I'm using the stock e-mail application on my wife's P769 (running JB) to check her e-mail via POP3. If it sees something on the mail server, it brings it down. I have the "Delete from server" option set to "When I delete from device". If I delete the e-mail from the phone client, it will correctly delete it from the server. The problem comes about if I leave the downloaded message on the phone. When she opens Outlook on her desktop computer, it pulls everything down from the mail server. So at this point, there are no e-mails on the server. When I go back to her phone, the e-mails that are no longer on the server are still on the phone. Forcing a refresh does not do anything. Previous phone client worked fine (old myTouch 4G running GB).
Anyone else seeing the same behavior?
No takers, eh?
I don't see anything "LG-related" in the e-mail client itself so I'm wondering, is the e-mail client just the standard JB one? If so, I can broaden my audience for this particular issue.
Thanks.

It's LG app as name of this app says "LGEmail.apk". Try another app and check if the same thing happens.

Yes, I should have mentioned that I have tried another client (K-9) and it works as it should. So at this point, I know the issue is the bundled e-mail application and not the POP account.
I'm curious if the behavior is the same with the e-mail client bundled with ICS...?

I tried to extract the APKs from the ICS KDZ file and I think my head is going to explode. Would someone be willing to send me the .APKs for the ICS LG e-mail client and e-mail widget?
