[Q] How to redirect with hotspot mobile - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All!
i've got a project but actually i can't do it without an help, so please help me!
i want to create a mobile hotspot on my Nexus, when someone connect to it, automatically it must be redirected to a link or server, i have 2 choice, redirect to a example.aruba.com or redirect to a server created with kWs on my Nexus...
1- i tried to redirect to the aruba's link but it was redirected to the home of Aruba and not on my site.
2-i tried to start a server with kWs, put the html file in the phone and setted the "home directory" of kWs in mnt/sdcard/ where the html is locateda, but when i redirect with ds ploit to the ip and port of my server on the Nexus nothing happens...
please tell me what is the best solution and how to make it works.

PPPoE - translating japanese app to english :-0 success !!!

Hi probably not many will take advantage of this app, but it is definitely adding some functionality to WM which normally this system is lacking. Mods please conciser that this topic is not about networking using this program but translating the program (hacking exe file) so in my opinion it should be in this section.
What is it for? PPPoE is an application to connect to wifi network with Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet authentication. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pppoe
There is no other application like that for Windows Mobile, at least I could not find it The only one that exists is made by NTT DOCOMO in Japan and is in Japanese
http://flets.com/spot/pdasetup_download.html
Since I'm not a programmer and I simply cannot create application like that I decided to try to translate it to English with help from online Japanese to English translator and BeeGee_Tokyo who helped me by translating parts where online translation failed THANK YOU!
How to start:
Install PPPoE.cab file on your device, it will create folder inside program files, name of the folder is in Japanese and if you are using wwe version you will see squares, you can safely rename this folder to PPPoE or whatever you want, the same with original exe file (you can delete it if you want). Please put my modified exe inside this folder (it is in PPPoE.zip file). I'm testing this program on my Topaz with WM6.1 TESS 2.2.1 but program might be device and system specific so it might not work on your device at all. You can also change .lnk file inside \windows\start menu\programs to correspond exe file name change.
Things left to do:
- translate last missing bits if possible,
- find a way to create a cab file with embedded translated exe, till now MSCEinf and WinCECabManager are unable to help me with that anyone can help?
- test the program in real life environment PPPoE authentication over wifi (I don't have access to such network at the moment) and on what devices it works.
UPDATE - Probably final translation, corrected some minor mistakes, still I can't find a way to translate one error page and about page but program is fully functional now, have fun.
Translation
I am sure this is not perfect, but it should be good enough to understand the program.
Most of the translation is done by Google I just corrected grammar a little bit and translated Katakana words, where Google usually fails.
Thank you BeeGee I corrected most of the problem I had with online translation thanks to you so program is ready, I will apply some minor changes and upload final version soon.
It doesn't work on my i780 even if i rename it like the japanese one (wich works)
I think it is some kind of problem with certificates or security policies or signing of the program, I'll investigate this and will let you know.

I have htc touch pro with original Rom 5.05.408.1 ITA and when I launch your translated program, Windows return a certificate error!
mmmh I have question for you..
Can you create a PDF with screenShot in English and japanese for each window, so we can use the japanese version?
thank you very much!
bye!
Any news? At least, can you post screenshot of yours so we can use the japanese one?

Hi all.
I can't get it to work with my mobile cel. The program works, it connects successfully, but i can't use any browser. The "PPPoE adapter" it's "not connected" and without any IP assigned....
any help? Does this program works for you?
TIA
Buddies, i have tried and connects succesfully but still i cant surf the internet here is what i have done previously on my HTC S620:
1>Installed original cab file
2>Extracted Translated file on SD card
3>Then I edited the registery settings
3.1>Go to HKLEM>>Comm>>NTTPPPoE>>PDAConTool>>SSIDList
3.2>Create a Key Folder Name "Item02"
3.3>Create "DWord" Value Name It As "Spot" And Change The Value to "3"
3.4>Create "String" Value Name It As "SSID" And Change Its Value To Your Current Router "SSID"
4>Now Change The AP Connection Settings In PPPoE Application To Your Router "SSID" Created. (See The Pic Below)
5>These Steps are Neccesary Becoz This Application only allows users to connect only NTT-West And Fletspot Users. If You Change Your Router "SSID"
To "Fletspot" Or "NTT-West" It Will Not Work Becoz If You See Its Registry Settings It Contains "Encryption Mode" And "Encryption Key" Strings Too Which We Donot Know.
6>Finally, It Connects Me Successfully But Still It Cant Find The Way To Surf Net!

Hi I was not looking at this tread for a while, all registry changes are completly unnecessary if program is working. Of course you need to setup new connection with your own network instead of Fletspot or NTT-West. How to do it? Just click menu/new network and that is it, you can add your own network but to do it of course you need to know login and password, that's how PPPoE works, if you don't know it than this program will not help you in any way to create connection.

Recovering Android Passwords

Hi all!
My GF is getting a new phone and we are having real trouble remembering her Google mail password!
We have tried all the recovery options on-line, but Google are pretty useless at recovering passwords and its driving me insane!
Now, on her old phone, it all still works, and Im just wondering if there is anyway at all as to recover or dig out the password from in the phone somewhere!
Any help would be appreciated as this is driving me insane haha
Cheers
Keith
I found this with google from another forum, password could be stored in
/data/data/com.google.android.gm/database/gmail.db
and related files to google account in
Code:
/data/system/accounts.db
/data/system/sync/accounts.xml
/data/data/com.google.android.gm/databases/gmail.db
/data/data/com.google.android.providers.calendar/databases/calendar.db
/data/data/com.google.android.providers.gmail/databases/mailstore.#######@gmail.com.db
/data/data/com.google.android.providers.talk/databases/talk.db
/data/data/com.google.android.providers.subscribedfeeds/databases/subscribedfeeds.db
Haven't tried myself cause I have no account of any type, so I dont know if passwords are plain text or hashed...
If this fails, I can share you my method anyway:
Connect both your PC and phone to the same home wifi network.
Install a POP3 server on your PC (ok this could be a pain in the @ss, I give you a hint on a easy one: Argo Mail server)
Activate and run it, then take your PCs IP (let's say it's 192.168.0.2)
Edit your Gmail account from the phone, and change the server from gmail's to 192.168.0.2, edit the ports and set it to use POP and plain authentication without encryption (default port should be 110).
Check your mail from the phone ! You just hijacked your credentials from the gmails secure server to your home mail server, that will of course give you an error because there is no account for that address. But you are then able to intercept the password because it's sent as plain text !! And should work for any email address, as long as you are able to edit the server address in the mailbox settings.
Just don't use it to bash into ur GFs email
not a clue how to get into /data/data/com.google.android.gm/database/gmail.db! haha
But i just tried you 2nd method, and i have the e-mail server setup no problem, but there isnt any options to change the Gmail address/port on the phone :s ARGH!

You can use adb shell to get that file, but I always use my dear QuickSSHd and get it with WinSCP on my pc. If I get any permission error, I open my Root Explorer and mount the root with r/w permission ! With that you can access any file in your phone/memory card.
As for the second, this is supposed to work only if you can change the address of the server and auth method ... if you are using an app with hardcoded server and port (and you could even hijack it that connection to your server) it will still be encrypted and you might not get the password...
Wow! Didn't realize recovering a password would be such a pain in the ass! My issue is I have been using LastPass and last night it decided to lose my Gmail info. Now I can only get to it from my DInc. I had LastPass generate a 20 digit secure password and it is too long to remember it all.
Google, being the dicks they are expect you to jump through hoops to try to get it back and will "get back to you" in 3-5 days. if you haven't tried They want the last password you remember, when you opened the account and on and on....
Reading this second method here, I am unsure exactly what to do. I am a noob at this linux based stuff and not terribly familiar with adb. I barely muddled through all it took to root my DInc and install a custom ROM.
A little more help? Maybe?
EDIT: Got QuickSSHd and WinSCP working together, but I have no idea where to look for the file to change the POP IP address to try to recover this password.
Never mind .....
Hello! I have a little bit different problem.... I have changed the password in Facebook last month and is stored in my Samsung Galaxy 5... How i can recover the password? Thanks ell3!! It's a really witty solution that i would never have come up with and I just used it to recover my mail password from kitkat's mail app. I used Wireshark to sniff the traffic during the authentication attempt and it worked really fine.

The method is good but you do not need to complicate yourself. Do not install mail server install wireshark and with a r73 or any wifi that can capture promiscuous you can sniff your username and password

For recovery of password from HTC Email app you unbase64 the password field, then you unbase64 the result and then you switch pair of characters like this "0123..." -> "1032..."
Following this procedure your password should be "shooshoom".
Can you please confirm this is correct?
Yes it works but I can't understand exactly how?!
I decode the "YUhOdmIyaHpiMjl0" via base64decode.net and result is: "aHNvb2hzb29t"
What is your mean about "switch pair of characters" exactly?

At first you have "YUhOdmIyaHpiMjl0"
you decode base64, you get "aHNvb2hzb29t"
then you decode base64 the result, you get "hsoohsoom"
now you switch pairs of characters (first with second, third with fourth...) and you finally get "shooshoom"

if your device is rooted then navigate to "data/data/com.htc.android.mail/databases" and copy the file "mail.db". Then open given file in some program that can open sqlite database for example SQLiteStudio. Then locate the table with name "accounts" in which are the _password and _outpassword values obfuscated in a way that was described above. If your device is not rooted, then you can extract the file through ADB backup.

Help About Http Injector App

Hi everyone!
im just new here.
I would like to ask for your help about an app called Http Injector. we use this in our country (Philippines)
to access internet via vpn for free.
to use this app, you have to register to sites that offers free ssh acount such as createssh.com, then create a payload (which has to be a freesite from our isp) and a remote proxy. then we you are connected, you can create a config file ( with an extention ".ehi") and share it to others.
the problem is, some .ehi files that is being shared are locked to prevent others to copy their config.
I hope you can help me sniff through these locked .ehi files guys...
thanks and more power.

Setting up a proxy server on Android

Hello there guys.
So my problem is that I cannot setup a Proxy server on my Android properly, when I'm trying to use it I just get "ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED" error in the browser.
I tried 2 programs (by the same author) - Servers Ultimate and Proxy Server.
With SU for example I created a simple "proxy server", obtained the ip/port from the "connection info" and was trying to connect through it, with no success...
I tried this on two different phones. One is Samsung A3 2016, second is something old with Android 3+ version.
Can someone point me to the right direction? I would be very thankful.
Also to mention, I'm trying to perform this with 3G connection and not Wi-Fi. Does this interfere somehow?
I just realised in the Status tab of a created instance it says:
"Public Connectable - No". Even with Wi-Fi. I asked one friend to perform this on Meizu and he got success with SOCKS server/Wi-Fi setup. Hmm.
What is the solution to this issue. I'm also facing the same over 3G network.

Where to find login details for Hotspot

Hallo,
as my title says where can I find the login details for an hotspot I have saved.
The hotspot itself has no passw. you will be redirected to a login site.
I had selected "save login" so now I'm automatic logged in.
Now I need this details for my laptop, but can't find it.
I have root and viewed the wlanconfig but there is nothing.
Anybody an idea where I can find this?
Thx
