I am trying to find a how to root idea usa 7" tablet from fry's for $77.00. Their is a lot of rooting programs but I have not been able to find anything on this model.
Also what would be a good rom to flash it with? I tried finding out if uberoid or cyanogenmod would work but I could not find any info on this model.
Not to sure what model I have that I would be able to flashing this rom with, either uberoid, cm7/cm9 or miui? Help
Model: MID, sv7206 v1.4, kernel 2.6.35.7-infotm
processor armv6 rev5,
hardware imapx200,
android 2.3.3,
brand infotmic,
display gri40,
release codename REL
bootloader unknown
I don't know if this is the right model IDea USA IUMID-0071 because the spec's are off. Http ://ideausa.us/produects.html but similar. I am looking for rom that is more update/modern. any potters?
Does anyone have the original rom for this or know how to make a backup this rom?
Well I am thinking that is might be this model but not to sure wm8650,SV7206 v1.4 or IDea USA IUMID-0071.
The screen is very slow on this model. Unless you use a pen then is works better.
Also hoping to be able to flash this to ics 4
Just trying to get some clarification.
Try running the superoneclick batches. Shortfuse.org

Thanks, I am download it right now.
Also can you use airdroid to do a backup or has anyone tried this yet and maybe upload a rom that way? any thoughts?
Thanks
Never heard of airdroid

AirDroid is a fast, free app that lets you wirelessly manage & control your Android device from a web browser Over-The-Air. Just for anyone that wants to know.
I don't know if airdroid can copy all of your file to the desktop from your browser. But I don't know how the file system works for the android. So I wouldn't know if it can or is there a good place to read about the android file system? Wait I know I will google that. google is my friend. But I was hoping for a more advance person that could answer on this topic than me.
Thanks
U have to have a custom recovery to do nandroid backups

Rooting Idea USA Tablet
Oh my, what a mess...
This post is in regards to the Idea USA Tablet (Unable to Root)
My specs:
- Idea USA Tablet (Made in China)
- Model Number: MID (Unknown)
- Android Version: 2.3
- Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7
- Build Number: MID-userdebug 2.3 GRH55 (ENG)
Issues:
Whelp, I have tried the basics and I can't get this thing to root for anything. I was able to get it to hook into the PC through USB. There are 2 usb slots on the side of the tablet. I believe one is for HOST and the other usb is for OTG (Charging). Once I figured out the host port, then I had to download the drivers for this poorly made tablet...But, what drivers? You go to the Idea US website and you get no helpful information. So, there are no drivers made specifically for this $100 dollar generic tablet from FRY's. Ok... No big deal... So, I download the default "Android USB Drivers".
Peachy, it worked! Now, I can transfer files back and forth between the card(s). Wonderful, first step down, next step was to root. So, I read up on how to root with Super One Click.
Ok, so now, I set the tablet to "USB Storage" and "Host"...Then I download and run Super One Click.
Ok, I run the "Super One Click v.2.3.3"; by clicking the root button and then all I get is a frozen screen that reads:
Code:
Killing ADB Server.... Kill Server 0.11s
Starting ADB Server.... StartServer 4.09s * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037* *daemon started successfully*
And then it just freezes the program. So, now I'm completely stuck. I mean I learned a great deal, that I can hook up a keyboard, mouse, etc to this thing, but, obviously Super One Click was not designed for these generic tablets. I have read other articles which have suggested that the .inf driver for the default "Android USB Drivers" needs to be edited for your specific tablet model and you must enter the specific CODE# for it to recognize for rooting with Super One Click... But, god forbid, I haven't found any useful information on where that might be. Also, someone suggested to install the Android SDK and edit those files along with the .inf files to make this work. But, that didn't work either. I did everything right. I turned off USB debugging and then I would wait for super one click to come up with waiting for device...but that never happened. I even tried it with USB debugging on... still nothing.
Has anyone created a generic batch program to root these types of devices? What am I doing wrong here?
Since every tablet is different with different boot mangment. Makes it hard to make a generic root kit.. and being a frys computer salesman I try very hard to talk people out of those things unless. They swear they are only us8ing it for facebook

Rooting Idea USA Tablet
Well, this took me all night to read and learn about how to root this basic tablet from Fry's.
First off, I tried many different things and it just didn't work. Using super one click is definitely out of the question for this particular tablet.
I read all night and thankfully found the forum article on how to solve this issue on xdadevelopers own forum.
As per quoted quotes below:
.....You can use gingerbreak to root this. Run it once and let it reboot, then use supermanager free from market to rename the su symlink from /bin/ to "old" or something, and reboot again.
You should now have root ........ It might take a couple of trys but it works.
You need to download supermanager from the market. Enable root in supermanager settings and click yes when superuser pops up.
Then use the file explorer within supermanager to navigate to the /bin/ directory and you will find a sysmlink called su
You need to rename this su symlink to old - completely take out the name su.
Just to be safe run gingerbreak again and then you can install busybox from market.

Thank you so much Pablo11. The idea is to download the APK for GingerBreak from online onto your IDEA USA tablet directly. The trick here is that the brand name is IDEA "USA", but the real workings behind the "MID" is "ViMicro". You will notice that displayed as you turn on your tablet. So, in order to find real information about your MID device, you have to search articles for vimicro.
Once you run gingerbreak, your tablet will go completely nuts. Nothing will run right. Things will break and it will be a complete mess. It will however, install superuser apk. However, it will not work. You can download the Root Checker from the market and you will notice it is NOT rooted. So...thanks to pablo11, you will want to download supermanager from the google play market. Install it.
Next go into the supermanager settings and click on ROOT. Make sure root is enabled and checked marked in the settings. When you enable root in the settings, it will prompt you with "allow root?" Click on Yes. This will give you the access you need.
But, your not done, once again as per Pablo11, go to the super managers file manager section. Get to the root directory by clicking up, and then find the folder "bin". Look for the file "SU" and rename this to "old".
Now, you will be able install busybox and any thing else thats root.
By the way, restart your tablet again, and I "personally" recommend that you go into your settings> Privacy> Check mark both (Backup my data and Automatic Restore) and then click on Factory data reset. Start the tablet from like it was brand new. Don't worry it will keep the root that you did intact. You will just have to re-register the tablet with your existing gmail that you originally used with that tablet.
Lastly, use the root checker from the market and you will see that it is successfully rooted.
Okay... Now, my next step. To crack open this tablet and put in a bigger SD Card as the 2G SDCARD is way too small, especially if you want to use new roms and install a linux operating system onto it....
@njbsuperman story telling of Pablo11's method worked for me. I have a generic android 2.2 7 in. "MID" white box, picture of the tablet on each side all of that and it worked for me. Had to restart and run ginger break a couple times but I followed the directions and it worked.
Thanks for posting this, got this for my 6 yr old for his b-day and of course I gotta ****in tim allen it and I happened to stumble across your findings and your post you put up 2 days before the unwrap. Thanks...smoke blunts.
Using Unlock Root to Root IDeaUSA Tablet
I know that this thread is a few months old, but I thought that I'd share what I used to root my 7" IDeaUSA YG A777 Android Tablet. I used Unlock Root. It's a simple program that rooted my tablet in minutes with one click. This site won't let me insert links in posts (I'm new to this site), but you can find the program by typing "Unlock Root" into Google. It should be the first site that comes up.

I have the CT-702 with Android 4.0.3 and can't get past the USB connecting to the storage devices. I can manipulate the files on the internal and external cards but any attempts to use the unlockroot package (from unlockroot.com which is full of adware) or other packages (z4root, ICS Root Unlocker 1.0) do not detect the device. There is a payware unlockroot package at unlockroot.org. Is this the package that works? Is there a no computer apk like gingerbreak (which fails) available or a procedure to get past the USB business.
is there a way to root the idea USA ct-705

@captinmudslide,
I'm in the same boat as you, in fact we must have bought them about the same time. I'm hoping that you are following this thread, and that you found something that works to root this beast. I 've been digging and trying any and everything I can find that works on other android devices. I was hoping that holding the power button and vol+ or vol- would get me somewhere. Vol+ at least gives me the dead robot, but can't do anything with it. Was hoping that if the adb server was running it would connect. Nope.
Anybody monitoring this thread, feel free to offer something that hasn't already been covered previously.
Thanks.

Holy crap, I rooted the device.
If anyone needs this later, here's what I did:
Fist I pulled down SRS Root, Unlock Root, Gingerbreak and the generic Google USB drivers.
I went into the properties of the missing driver CT1006 and checked the hardware ID. I opened android_winusb.inf and added the lines:
;ProScan plt-7035
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_2207&PID_0010
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_2207&PID_0010&REV_0222&MI_01
under the headings of [Google.NTx86] and [Google.NTamd64].
I ran Gingerbreak a few times, per a thread I read, but the app would hang. I tried it 3 times.
Then, I went back to Device Manager and selected "Update Driver" and pointed to the .inf I edited earlier. I detached and reattached the device via USB to my PC and ran SRS Root, which still reported an error. Then I ran Unlock Root and the first time it said my device was already rooted, but I told it to root again. It did and my device rooted. I then looked in my apps and found SuperSU installed and was able to run Sixaxis Controller, which requires root to run, which confirmed root worked.
I don't know which step actually solved the issue, but hopefully if anyone has this issue in the future, they can figure that part out.

I've been able to root this tablet using Kingo ROOT, with the "latest_usb_driver" from Google (1/27/2014).
I have set:
c:\users\{USERNAME}\.android\adb_usb.ini
with the value: 0x2207
And have used the RK_DriverAssitant available online
It takes a lllllllloooooooooonnnnnnnnggggggg time for my Windows 8.1 x64 to recognize it, but eventually it will show with:
c:\adt\sdk\platform-tools>adb devices
List of devices attached
0123456789ABCDEF device
Then run Kingo ROOT.

I recently recieved a Double Power M975 9" tablet as a gift. I have been unable to find any information regarding rooting this tablet.
I am not a total n00b, but rooting is not my forte. I can follow instructions and make logical connections well enough to do a root, but I am honestly at a loss for how to root this thing.
I don't know what all information is required for someone smarter than I to figure it out and relay the steps, but here's the basic info of the Tablet.
Double Power M975 (aka DOPO)
Android Version 4.04
Kernel 3.08+ (also says [email protected] #99, dunno if that's important)
Build Number A9 v01b
Internal Storage is 0.98Gb, with NAND Flash of 5.27Gb, and I have a 32Gb Micro SD card in it.
9" Screen
If anyone knows how to root this thing, or if you need more info, please let me know below.
Thanks in advance.

I'm actually surprised there isn't more info or already a guide for this specific tablet, as it's available at Walmart and online, it's cheap and is the best option in its price range for size and the fact that is has Google Play pre installed. It's not a powerhouse, to be sure, but it has been around long enough that I thought someone would know how to root it already. I just wish I knew enough about rooting Android to figure it out myself.

I'm still not having any luck finding any info on rooting this specific device, or even generic root for 4.04.

Was in the same boat as you, so did some poking around the past few days. Just managed to root my Double Power M-975.
First problem was getting ADB drivers installed for the tablet. I found baudi's pdf that did it for me (attached below). Followed that, until the actual rooting at the end. To root, I used SferaDev's Root Rk29 Toolkit (also attached).
Hope this works for you too!

DUDE!!! Thank you so much! It totally worked!
For anyone who reads this, know that the linked .pdf is out of date. The majority of it is still valid, however the adb_usb.ini file does not exist. You will have to manually create it in the listed location (make sure to remove the .txt extension and make it an .ini) and the sdk manager file does not exist. You can access the sdk manager through eclipse.exe in the Eclipse folder.

You must have downloaded the ADT Bundle. I did too the first time.
On the Android SDK website if you click "Download for other platforms" then under "SDK tools only" select the zip file for windows you will get the package referred to in the pdf.
I also had to go into device manager and manually update the driver via the method described in the pdf.
The more you know...
Okay so how come I'm the only one not having any luck with this? I'm new to the whole rooting thing BTW...

Hey all.
I have a DOPO EM63 7" tab, and I'd like to share how I rooted it. I figure most of the DOPO devices will be the same.
1.) Install JDK, Android SDK (the zip file {choose download for other platforms}) and do everything else in steps 1-12 from the pdf in this thread.
2.) Go here (xda link) and do steps 2-11
3.) Laugh about how easy it was.
If anyone can't look at the pdf and other thread, I can post full steps.
It works. Out of every method I've tried, this one worked.
I have to add, some steps are outdated (ie. Step 7 from the link: just click "Root" on the pc screen)
And yes, the program is in Chinese - but it is easily understood (everything you need is in English)
Also, I don't know if the Moborobo program is necessary (seeing as we have drivers already) but it doesn't hurt to use it anyway.

That's awesome! I actually cracked mine (a single tear rolls down my cheek) but a relative gave me hers, which is an identical model (tear dries up instantly), so I'll try this as soon as I can. Will let you all know what happens.
I'll check my build, too.
Thanks for the info!
EDIT: Please make that your signature ("Oh happy day!"). That would make me very happy.
I purchased a N7100 few months ago. It is really cool with a large screen, excellent camera, and amazing innovations. However, I can not root it. Thus I am anable to delete the apps pre-installed or install root-required apps. You know, a phone without root permission like a notebook without mouse (except Mac, hah...). After days of searching, I found a software which can root it.
I have posted a thread before, becaused I was cheated by someone. Now I purchased UnlockRoot Pro at official website unlockroot.com. 29 USD, but it really helped me!
I would like to share my experience:
1. I purchased it at unlockroot.com. Download and install it.
2. Run UnlockRoot Pro. The license code is the serial number. I am confused that why they don't use the same name.
3. Enable USB debugging. This is simple: Settings-> Developer options-> USB debugging.
4. I have installed USB driver before, so I just connected my phone to PC, paste my serial number in and proceed.
5. I have to say, it is really simple. Because what I have done is just make 2 clicks. And wait it for about 5 min. Then it said "OK, Root success."
I hardly believe this, because I have try to root my N7100 for thousands of ways with no success. I checked and found SuperSU have installed on my phone, and I can install root-required apps without problem. I have a Nexus 7, maybe I would try this to root it some days later! Hope this would help N7100 users to root their phones.

If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Will this root method work with ASUS devices?
The thread title (Intel Android Devices Root / Temp CWM Session) suggests this is a generic rooting method for tablets with Intel SoCs. Is there any reason why this shouldn't work with the newer Intel Atom-based Asus tablets such as the MeMO Pad ME176CX? The current and as far as I know, only rooting method, for the ME176X uses an app called RootZenPhone.
RootZenPhone appears to use the same exploit as your script-based root method, but wraps it up in a APK with obfuscated asset names. (Note: I ran clamscan on both the APK and your files, and both tested positive for the exploit). I prefer your method because it has a cleaner, more opensource design. I can basically read what it's going to do, at least up to the point where you run the exploit.

It should work I've tested it on Medfield, Clovertrail, and Baytrail devices, from the Asus fastboot.imgs I've looked at trigger 2 and 3 should work.
the apk you refer to i believe actually uses a function Asus only seems to of built into thier droidboot binary on the Asus when you start droidboot it looks at /factory for a file called .addon and then triggers it Asus uses it for automating things under droidboot I believe and several recoverys have been built to take advantage of it.
As for the exploit the exploit is the the script the binarys are nothing really special just responsible for setting up and starting the recovery session. recovery.trigger is a simple daemon to launch recovery.launcher and recovery.launcher is basically a small subset of cwm recovery its self.
Sent from my XT907 using XDA Free mobile app

How can i see if the bootloader is locked on my device?
Another possible device
Hello,
in Czech forum where I compiled a native-language short guide how to use your tethered CWM recovery to root Op3n Dott (I see that somebody confirmed that both T2 and T3 triggers work] one Slovak user reported that he was able to use the tool to root Prestigio MultiPad Thunder 7.0i http://www.prestigio.sk/catalogue/M...NDER_7.0i#/product-specs?article=PMT3377_WI_C. I sent him a question concerning which trigger did he use so if he replies I will send more info. Sorry for the Q&A thread, but I got kicked here because of the low post count.
Succesfully rooted Tesla L7 Tablet
Using the method described successfully rooted Tesla L7 tablet. The method used is T3 and supersu used is UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40
Is the recovery built from source?
Hello, one more question - is the recovery built from source by you, or is it a ready-made recovery from someone else? Because if you have your own tree an are building it from scratch, it might be possible to include the call of my tool used for dumping images (dump_images from merrifield_bin of dell-venue-boot-tools for signed images and possibly a renamed one from zte_gxi_boot_tools for unsigned images) to /sbin/nandroid-md5.sh script and add the tool(s) to /sbin. I know it is not the best solution but at least it would be possible to backup the images if not restore them from CWM.

The actual recovery is built by @vampirefo but i am very interested in adding that feature in and was actually going to ask you about that.
Also have you looked at any of the older update_osip source?
Can you please tell me an easier to understand method.

Thanks to Social Design Concepts for the great work. It is appreciated!
Fajfie, thanks for posting. That's awesome. If you used Windows, how did you get Device Manager to identify the Dell Venue 3740? I've downloaded all recommended driver files in this and the previous thread and I can't get Windows to identify the device. When I run launcher.bat I get DEVICE: UNKNOWN.
Any ideas?
Another rooted
Great work, this worked to gain root on Medion (Lenovo) Lifetab S10346 tablet.
Intel Z3735F cpu
2GB ram, 32 GB storage.
I used trigger T3 and it went through smoothly, a Great bit of work.
Works perfectly on the Asus Padfone X Mini. I referenced this thread over in the device specific forum. I used the T3 command in step 3.
Thanks!!!
Worked on my ASUS Padfone X mini (TOOS) used T3 option.
Thanks!
Thanks you. The procedure works with method 3 to GoClever Insignia 700 PRO , Android 4.4.2.
I just installed IntelAndroidDrvSetup 1.5.0 with the drivers for my pc.
hi im having the same problem as GeeKerGurL
" Try to manually boot to droidboot
Anyways... everything was going ok, I selected trigger 3 to try first, reboots to droidboot (with "waiting for fastboot command") then I select recovery and get android dude laying down with a red exclamation point coming out his belly and it just said "no command" now I am soft bricked, only getting the USB symbal with the white line under it. i have a Acer Iconia A1830
Problems with the update surpeuser zip
I followed your guide to rooting Acer iconia tab 8 A1-840FHD with intel chip, (Wich is great by the way thanks) and evrything goes to plan until, i get to Install Zip. I get, E:Can't mount /sdcard/ Update-superSu-v2.40(1).zip Installation aborted. I've downloaded the zip from your link by desk top (windows 7) and transferred it over. Also downloaded from the tablet and just used a file manager to move it over to sd. Same msg for each. I used the T3 option. any ideas how to get the zip to install?
Zip copy to folder on your tablet (download,...) and install from recovery install. zip.
Send from my Samsung Galaxy S2 - RR Lollipop v. 5.2.7
Verified with Acer Iconia A1-830
Firstly, big thanks to the dev, social-design-concepts for making this thing work on Intel device. Thumb up~
It works wonders with my Acer Iconia A1-830 android 4.4.2.
I used option T1 and it works without any problem.
Thanks again.
P/s: Hope this will work on the latest Intel devices like Asus Zenfone 2 ;p
As said by @Primokorn, my device is very rare and so I am cross posting here for additional help.
Hi,
First of all Device specs :
Device : Quantum QPulse 100s (Not chinese, its middle eastern company)
Processor : Intel Celeron N2805 1.46GHz
RAM : 2GB
OS : Windows 8.1 Pro, Android 4.2.2 (Dual Boot)
So as the title says, i need to root my android, here goes my story...
I tried so many methods to root but was unsuccessful
Here are the points to first notice :
1. Android is a custom built android but build id matches with nexus phone ( idk why )
2.There is NO BOOTLOADER.
More on that :- The tab itself is a mini PC, and i found out it has BIOS, and in the BIOS I found 2 options,
a) EFI BOOT
b) Windows management blah something we are not interested right now.
I found out that android has an EFI boot and we can go to the EFI SHELL but i found no use of that.
3. You CANNOT connect it to a PC using a USB cable.
Ask why ? Because the tab itself is a host system and in no way can you connect a host to another host. Except maybe networking.
Now for the INTERESTING Things WE can USE :
I found a way to mount all the android partitions on the windows os and I can write to those partitions.
Now i did place supersu.apk, su, busybox to the folders they need to be, but in android terminal app it says su permission denied.
Probably some permission problems. I have tried giving chmod in terminal app and moving those files to system/bin later. But didnt work
Also no root apps, such as Kingroot, Towelroot etc are working.
Beware again - You CANNOT use USB using methods.
I need root so i can install gapps, and also because i like root.
So, I need The XDA help
waiting. . . .
3 day bump.. awaiting any useful reply..
I dont want anyone to go deep into the device but it would be useful to tell me how to root a android, whose partition is accessible from another OS ( windows 8.1 )
-_-

Why no reply guys, a week and half past the post and i have nothing. Is that the geniuses here dont know how to do this or they didnt read it yet ?
Common, this is in no way "noob friendly" forum says. If you want me to believe in the previous line forever, then don't post anything, otherwise HELP me. Is there no one out there who can solve a simple problem or are they not willing to do anything, I think I have already waited for a month and i think it was plenty time for at least one reply or suggestion. You guys are dissapointing me
