Hi everyone,
Apologies if this is found elsewhere, I have tried to narrow down what it is I am looking for but never seem to get a definitive answer.
Basically I want to know what part of a rom is responsible for controlling the switch over from wifi to mobile data.
I have tried many different roms and modems and nothings seems to work. I am constantly walking in the front door of my house to find my phone going nuts because its just gotten a data signal.
I have a 5gb mobile data package and its driving me crazy that I can't use it reliably. I have donated to many different developers over the years and would never complain, I think the work you guys do is amazing - currently rocking the latest stable archidroid!!
All I am saying is that no matter what Rom or modem I use I have to turn my phone into airplane mode and back again to get it to pickup the moble data, why??
Thanks in advance

It's your router, not the rom.
Please read things properly before commenting. It could not be my router.
To help clarify what it is I need help with.
There is nothing wrong with my router!!!
There is something wrong with my phone because it works perfectly on home wifi.
It will not switch over to mobile data when I take it outside. It refuses to pick up the mobile signal unless I put it into airplane mode and back again or do a reboot.
Please can someone tell me where the problem might be? I never ask for help and have searched all the forums and can find nothing to help.
Suggest wipe phone install stock rom and test .
Fails then return under warranty .

So i have a samsung gio S5660
i flashed the giopro rom 1.2, after a whle my celluar radio stopped working...
not just data, the whole lot, switching between flight mode and back locks it up, and going into wireless and networks, and the mobile networks tab is greyed out...
i have since flashed another rom and it didnt fix it...
it happened after i moved the dalvik cache back to the internal storage...
what do i do to fix it
also a2sd just stops responding when i open it on any rom now...
I'd try restoring the stock ROM with whatever tools Samsung provides for flashing. I'd especially try to get away from a2sd... it's not the most failure-proof script around and if you don't know how to fix the errors it produces you should really stay away from it.
Im so sry to hear that bt I think it serves you right...
Go f yourself buddy. You have no say with 1 post count... Especially when it serves no purpose but to mock.
Doesn't matter who started it, just try to act like civilized people.
Just remember: It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
agreed. So does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it tho ?
Well on new news and assumptions, it sounds like i broke my EFS... does anyone know how to repair / rebuild it?
Hi all,
This is my first post, I'm glad to say I have managed without the need to ask any questions up until this point but I could use some clearing up on this. Also thank you in advance to all.
So my question is after unlocking and flashing to cm7 mod2, I had some battery issues.. While trying to narrow the problem down I see alot of people saying how they run their phone with data off and leave just wifi.. my question since I know very little about the difference from 2g/3g, different radios what have you, is what are you losing while turning off 3g or mobile data(assuming they are they same) wouldn't you not get calls and sms? Just a little confused with this one.
And on the radios thing.. since it obviously can brick your phone.. why switch radios, and what exactly does that even mean(assuming again that it has to do with that tower you are connected to). Ive read somewhere about windows phone that people would specify one tower to keep from bouncing back and forth from two about equal distance towers and wasting power but not sure if that applies here.
Sorry for so much text but again first post n got some basic questions which I'm sure you guys can answer easily.
Guyz,
I recently lost my samsung guru on my way to office and then I had to switch back the old galaxy i7500 lying around for months. It was still alive and had recently been services(the touchscreen) by the authorized service centre.
I am comfortable with recovery/rom and before sending it to service I had galaxo 1.6(the latest stable back then) on my phone. I even had some(3 to be exact) nandroid backups on my phone. After it returned from the service centre it started acting strange. Now the problem begins.
It looks & works completely fine until I call somebody. Then something just starts running in the background, random keypresses, some random application starts, and I see the volume bar all the time as some continuous volume up command is given, I presume. It just goes on like this during the entire call and even a few seconds after the call. Another problem is it silents my phone every time someone calls me, so no matter what I set in the settings I never ever hear a ring when someone calls me, even the vibration gets off.
Solutions I tried: Obviously I tried formatting the storage(it doesn't have any external storage). Flashing the ROM, changing the ROM, drakaz 2.1, recovery 6.6 etc. Nothing helped, I even tried(with some workaround) and got the old nandroid backup restored . .. but to no avail. I have currently Kaspersky installed on my phone but even it can not detect anything. I have not given odin a try yet as I am on Mac and currently not very comfortable with heimdall.
I must thank you for reading this long post of mine & appreciate any little help any of you can offer, even some sympathy will do.
Thanks in advance,
Abhinav
It's probably not a virus if you completely reflashed your phone, unless it nestled itself in the recovery (or other partitions that don't get wiped).
Have you tried flashing a new radio? If the problem starts when calling maybe the radio is corrupt or fried or somehow busted. Also, the radio isn't affected when you switch ROMs so it would explain why reflashing/wiping/restoring backups doesn't help.
Since your phone isn't officially supported I have no idea how you would go about finding alternative radios though.

Sounds more like an issue with the screen rather than a software issue. I'd take it back to the service center and have them take another look, it could've been improperly fixed.

Hello,
I'm looking for some help with my son's sgh-i757m phone. I'll try layout my history on the phone and question in some hopefully easy layout.
What I did
at my son's request, I changed the stock rom on my son's sgh-i757m (Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE) for him. He wanted to be able to install apps and customize his phone as he wished. i installed the paranoid android rom for him successfully.
Problem
Once installed he began losing cell phone network connection. This progressively got worse and now it barely works.
My troubleshooting
I tried installing other custom rom's to see if this would resolve the problem. Nothing seems to work. The present rom I have which is Dadoes. This one seems to work the best BUT i only get signal within 1 block of the cell phone tower. (oh ya... i live in a small town where we only have two cell towers in the valley here.)
I tried researching terminal commands to boost the radio signal but I haven't found anything for the sgh-i757m.
I've also done the *#*#4636#*#* trick... nothing... i've installed network boosters but those don't do anything.
What Haven't I done
I haven't tried to install a different radio rom... (maybe I did, but in my research there isn't an explanation if this is different from the OS rom).
I haven't tested whether it is a hardware issue as I don't know how
What I am asking
Can I get help regarding radio roms; is this different from OS rom's? if it is different... where do I find them and more information on this?
Can I get help on steps to test my hardware to see if this is the issue?
Any pointers if I am missing anything?
Thank you... oh and this is my first post.
I'm out of lurking and posting now.
Respectfully,
KrustyQ-tip

HI buddy , welcome to our section .
Now your problem, did you tried to reflash the stock ROM back after you saw that your phone is having problems to see if the problem is solving?
I did took a search on this forum and I found this thread :

Fixed - sgh-i757m connection problem
Well... thank you for your reply. I didn't have a backup of my son's original rom but my daughter just broke her phone and it was exactly the same. So, I thought I would back her's up then put it on my son's. What she did was break her screen. So, I thought I could swap screens or parts to make this work. I was able to take my daughters apart and was able to take my son's apart. In taking apart my son's phone, I found that the attenae cable wasn't attached to it's connector. So I plugged that in then tested and voila! It works!! pheew!! Was getting worried that I was losing my mind (maybe I did?).
Thank you for your help. I did do the custom roots and roms. Now my son can choose which one he wants!
Respects,

Hi guys,
It's been a while since I last posted, but still understand protocol before starting a new thread.....I've searched many places for this answer and come up short because there's a mixture of issues, so here goes:
* Phone purchased second hand by bro-in-law, bought it already rooted, but on a BTU ROM. IMEI in About section is different to that which is displayed on the back of the cover. He only knows how to message, browse and call, so he didn't check these details.
* Don't know the previous stock ROM(i.e., T-Mobile, Voda, 3G or BTU). It is currently on a ROM of I9300XXAELLA and baseband of I9300XXBLFB.
How I find out what the orginal firmware was?
* Phone worked fine for more than 4 months without any hiccups, but recently having signal issues(intermittent disconnections), even with different networks(sim cards). So can't be provider issue. Or can it? Tried the Vanir ROM, issue(s) still persists. Seems to me like a software issue as there's been no physical damage, but can't be sure.
* I can access the mobile network signal settings when the signal is functioning, but not when it goes off. Can't make any calls when this happens or send any messages. Toggling between Airplane modes does the trick on the odd occasion but quite often it won't make any difference, it seems to have a mind of its own.
I'm leaning towards a baseband issue or radio/modem, if these aren't the same things. I'd like to revert it back to stock to see if it that works, but I have no idea which firmware to use because I need a way to find out what would work best in this situation.
That's about all I can think of right now...oh and one more thing, there's nothing backed up i.e., EFS folder or IMEI because nothing came with the phone. If you need any more information, feel free to ask.
Thanks in advance
RJ
