Hi!
I like the look and especially the size of the ONE MAX.
Can someone tell me how the volume compared to a Galaxy S4 I9505 (whout any Modification) is?
ONLY the volume with headphones on, not the stock headphones - any headphones. I just need to know if it is - via headphones - loud or if it isn't
Is it louder or would say it is less loud?
I know it sounds crazy, but this is one of the most important questions to me. I use my smartphone 50% Music, 15% Camera, 25% Internet and 10% the rest. :good:
I hope to hear from you,
have a nice day,
lienot
Never used S4 before, but from my experience HTC devices have always sounded better on headphones vs the comparable Samsung devices.
I've used both samsung s4 and htc One Max.
S4 I can hear at max volume through earphone but not my one max. It's higher!
Even Sound Quality HTC wins! in earphones , headphones, and speakers; The HTC Boomsound wins by far!
That my opinion dude!
I dont know about S4 but Sound Quality is certainly better than Note 3.
However, its not better than Beats Audio ?
My phone is not rooted yet but I will root it after 4.4 update.
I wanted to ask a question if there is a custom ROM with Beats Audio for Onr Max?

One max does not have Beats Audio, I have both a one x (beats audio) and a one max and also and S4.
With my one max i'm using a headphone pioneer sound clarity, I prefer it to my one x.. Beats does not mean best sound ever although I'm using beats Headphones with it. (btw, I used my phone for 70% music listening, internet, phone and gaming only 30%.
Hope it helps

You should give a try to all the options before making any purchase. I'm not telling to buy, but it's only my opinion about the sound quality. My wife prefer the beat headphone just because its more comfortable, and the color. So every one has a different opinion. for me its only sound quality. therefore i prefer the one max with pioneer.
Just try to hear the sound from different headphone, and choose yours.
Before purchasing any, you may test at the shop itself. I always do it.

Speaking of this, does anyone know what changes were made when HTC quit doing the Beats thing? I'd imagine that all the important hardware (e.g. the isolated ground for the headphone jack, etc.) is all still intact, after all the only real "beats" concept is the EQ software (which, IMHO, is inferior what can be achieved in DSP).

Yeah, beats is majorly the EQ part, we don't have solid proof about the presence of hardware for this.

Since there's no Q&A forum for this phone (yet), I'll try in here.
I've noticed this morning, when listening to my music through my earphones, that the volume tends to subtly fluctuate - perhaps slightly reducing the volume on the louder parts of songs.
I don't like this (it's not even at max volume either) - is there a way to stop it? I've looked in the music player's settings and also the sound settings for the phone itself, but no luck.
This is my first Samsung Andrdoid so if I'm missing something common to these, feel free to hit me with the noob stick
You've got the SGS II already?
You are probably in the wrong forum, mate.
Nope, he is not.
Some lucky dawgs got it through P4U.
I got it yesterday afternoon from Phones4U, although I think I've sorted this problem out now. I think it was related to the bass enhancement setting, because I disabled that and it's not doing it anymore (or it's no longer noticeable).

Big question how do you find the sound quality what headphones are you using? Thanks
Swyped from my Desire HD using XDA App
I'm using Soundmagic PL30's and the sound is great, although I did notice a bit of crappines when I had the bass enhancement on and turned it right up. Now I have it on Auto/Rock EQ with no effects - perfect for my needs.
I've yet to test the phone's speaker.
I don't have the phone and only played with android briefly before, but in theory, what you are describing is known as "normalizing", where the device tries to make the songs sound as even as possible. This results in capped louder parts and sometimes increased quieter parts. Is there any option like this in the equalizer?
May I say... Congratulation and I HATE YOU... J.K...
Post up some more details of what you DISLIKE of it so far

Actually PL30 are slightly bass heavy themselves and at best average if sgs2 sound is even somewhat like sgs. If u really want something better without breaking bank get brainwavz M1 or nuforce ne6 if you prefer boomier bass. This phone does deserve more than PL30.
PL30 respond very badly to presets on SGS1 as well.
Magically posted from thin air!
Aw, I only bought these a couple of weeks ago!
I'll bear your recommendations in mind though, thanks.
Actually, the earphones that came with it look better (not the awful standard things you usually get). I probably won't open them though.

Really? The Yamaha DAC that was included can actually best the Wolfson 8994? I've been torn between the SGSII and the Sensation for quite a while now. This tips the scales in the GSII's favor.
P.S.- How does it compare to an SGS with the Supercurio Voodoo mod?
It's very close mate. I haven't done a proper comparison between them but I get a full range from Bass, mid and treble using PowerAMP to listen to music with the SGS II. I'd say it maybe slightly better than the SGS with Voodoo if I had to chose.

Any help/suggestions is greatly appreciated!
Presently have a Galaxy Nexus & an S2. Both are fine phones in their own right but....
I don't think there all that good at audio reproduction..
I want to use my flac music files with kplisch earphones with Poweramp.
Can you recommend an andriod smartphone thats got excellent sound quality?

Sensation, Sensation XE, One X, S, V...
You should install Equalizer on whatever phone you get. It has a system wide EQ that doesn't require root.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.equalizer
I'm not really sure what Beats Audio does, I imagine its just an equalizer. I imagine the beats headphones are a total scam as they are made by Monster the same company that rips people off by selling them overpriced HDMI cables saying they are somehow better.
Rezound or One X

I'm in the UK so it'd have to be a model that works over here.
I've heard that beats audio doesn't make that much difference & doesn't really improve the sound
Try the Sony Ericsson smart phones as they produce the best quality audio. Like Xperia, Walkman Live, etc...
Stay away from anything with beats. The headphones are overpriced rubbish (you have your own anyway) and the sowftware is just a glorified EQ which in my opinion is far to exaggerated and detracts from the sound quality. I'm not sure which phones have the best DAC chips but I bet it would be one of the Sony phones marketed for music playback. if you really wanted to figure it out you could go through each prospective phones spec sheets and compare the data.
Or you could do what I did and accept that phones arent very good at audio playback and get yourself a decent music player. i went and bought sansa clip which is so much better than my galaxy s2 at music playback
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions &

Say NO to beats audio - it's overpriced and you get nothing special in terms of hardware. Almost every HTC's are SoC and are all the same with audio hardware.
I own HD2 and sound quality is very good, though far from superior. Some samsung's are good too, few motorola's have excellent audio quality.
I've always thought beats to be a gimmick.
Is there anyway of finding out what DAC is in a smart phone. I tried google but didn't get very far.
Whats the new HTX One X like for music with beats off of course.
Any other recommendation's would be cool.
Get the Galaxy S. Remember: only the original Galaxy S and its variants (captivate, vibrant, epic touch something). Its Wolfson DAC is awesome, it's even more powerful with Voodoo Sound. And with a decent audio player (like PowerAmp) = perfect.

SGS Plus also uses a Wolfson DAC like the original SGS, but not exactly the same one. Supercurio (Voodoo sound developer) said there will be no Voodoo Sound for the SGS+ because of that.
WOW. Do not listen to ANYTHING people say regarding Beats and HTC. It's just a terrible equalizer that bloats the bass, and shatters the mids and don't even ask about highs. To get straight to the point: no phone currently out is good source material. At all. You should get a portable amp, like say, the E7 or E17 and run with that. Beats is THE ABSOLUTE WORST thing you can go for right now.
That being said, I suppose the Galaxy S is best for your needs. I would hazard a guess that most Sony phone have decent source components in them as well.
Seriously can't believe people are recommending the One X or the Rezound. If it's just because Beats, that's silly. Has NOTHING to do with the quality of the source components. Beats Audio is a terrible program and nothing more (outside of the terrible earbuds and terrible cans)

Hey all!
Just wanted to share my opinion ...
I personally think after using S3 for about a Week now, that S3's Audio Quality "is far superior in Comparison to an iPhone or hTc Beats".
I've used these both.
Does someone else thinks the same, or is it my Love for S3 which makes me believe this ???

HTC only owns 25% of the Beats brand. Beats is its own company and they build all their own products. The headphones included do look like they belong in the Beats line but they don't match any of Beats' current offerings. That said, I'm sure they were designed to give off a Beats vibe but Beats they are not. They are good quality for a free headphone, I will give them that. Beats headphones suck anyways so don't look at it like it's a negative that they aren't actually Beats headphones.

That is not true. Beats never made their own products, Mosnter Cable did until last year. HTC makes ALL of them now. Go to Bestbuy or Frys and look on the back of the box. The box looks exactly the same except one will say made by HTC and the Old stock with say made by Monster Cable. But yes you are technically correct, "Beats" is it's own company. I am aware that Monster used to make Beats headphones. In fact, when Beats first came out they were not only manufactured by Monster, but were also completely designed by them, regardless of what Dre and Iovine would have you believe. When Beats and Monster split, Beats got all the patents. Now they manufacture their own. HTC doesn't design or build Beats headphones. They just have a percentage of the company. They had the controlling stake when they first bought in which would explain the "By HTC" on the box because technically if you own 50.1% of a company, you can say you build their products. They only have 25% now. Either way, HTC never actually built Beats headphones. HTC's factories are in Taiwan, Beats are made in China. You can Google all this if you don't believe me.
Just my opinion but they look like crap and the bass is all muddled. That being said, they tend to stay in my ear better than some of my other earbuds and I do like the flat cable.

When Monster made Beats they were actually made by Foxconn (as most Monster products are), but now they are indeed made by a HTC owned (ok controlled may be a better word) plant. As I have said before Beats doesn't make anything as with most American "brands" like this. And yes, I know this for a fact. As we all know, the actual plants that make these types of products are always subcontracted.
The point I'm making by all of this, is that fact that the old Beats and the new Beats sound completely different (for the better) and HTC can make headphones that are identical to "Beats" and not call them "Beats". Case in point. This is exactly what they are doing with the included headphones with the One.

I agree. These are easily the best sounding free headphones i've ever got. :good:
I've been prowling the these boards and heard that the cheap looking headphones were better than the ones included in my S4. So I did a comparison today and grabbed the cheap red and black ones from my girlfriends HTC One box. May I say I am disappointed in Samsung. HTC not only has better sounding speakers but a better sounding headphone. From lows to highs and bass these headphones rival Beats. They're ugly though.
They sounded good for a whole 10 minutes. The wire at the base of the jack, when wiggled just a tiny bit, causes loss of sound and distortion. That wire didn't last long.

Well about a week ago anyways...
Paid $185 for it 2nd hand, figured that was a decent deal and a good upgrade seeing as how I was using a droid 3 that had the gsm radio flashed on it.
droid 3 was ok for everything i needed but the camera was trash and the screen small, the droid dna is more than capable in those departments.I'm sure some consider the phone "outdated" since it has been out almost a year but ive never been the one to constantly need the newest technology,so im good.
my only gripe, the audio is not loud enough.i didnt appreciate the droid 3 external speaker until streaming some music off google play on the dna, just not loud enough and i hate headphones so the beats thing is pointless for me.
anyone else notice the external speaker is not that loud?

My speaker is plenty loud, also have you tried a ROM with any kind of audio modification like ViperDNA?
This will happen on Cyanogenmod or another AOSP based ROM because the rear speaker amp doesn't function at full capacity. Try flashing a Sense 5 ROM. Sense 5 is where I have gotten the loudest and highest quality speaker audio.
Also, try installing Viper4Android or another sound mod and play around with the EQ settings. You may be able to boost the speakers a couple decibels. I use V4A on crDroid and it works great for headphone audio.
