its not good to remove it bcuz the sytem does it itself, so u just confusing it.
callibartion is automated so if yur phone gets to 100% system renew this file itself.
good way (only) is to discharge ur phone to death & then charge it (without stop) to 100%. no other way.
maybe u think also about if ur battery is dead partially.... ?!?!

Well you can just charge your phone to 100% and then delete the batterystats.bin file via Root Explorer or boot into cwm and go to advance-delete batterystats.
That helps you and your system to get a more accurate reading.
Other option is to "bump" charge your phone, let it charge till 100%, wait one hour (while charging). Unplug phone and turn off, plugin in charger again and charge for another hour. Turn on phone and delete batterystats.bin. Bump charging isnt healthy for your battery tho and just gives a temporary effect of "better" battery life.

As the battery stats are a system file then no as you dont want to mess with system files you say .
Battery stats if left alone will reset within a few weeks of use anyway .
The majority are not programmers we just follow the instructions .

i dont see a reason why would i want to delete this file, as my phone is just 1 week old and i thought there are some calibrations need to be done when you get the phone..
i assume what you guys are suggestions is some periodic treatment to do to the phone after few weeks/months i already have it?
if so, again, as my phone is new - is there anything i should do to the battery?

No charge it use it dont let it fully discharge .
battery recalibration is only of possible use after flashing a new rom.

i have another small question:
when going to "battery useage" i can see that my phone is "awake" at all times, even when the screen turned off and not using it.
BUT the wifi was on the whole time, would that be the reason?
any possible way to determine whats preventing the phone from sleeping?
thanks
It depends on what apps you use. For instance IM applications keep the phone alive, while the screen sleeps.

WiFi could be on always but not Awake, so some apps/process must be going on in background, to find what it is,

Imo, you will get false readings everytime you will change the battery.
there's no solution for synchronising it or i.e. calibrating the battery1 and then changing somtime to battery2, then you'll get wrong information from the system about the charge of the battery, because it's calibrated to battery1, okay but if you then change back to battery1, the system info about the charge of battery1 should be fine... hope you understand what i want to explain

[Q] Best way to calibrate battery ?

Hello guys,
I have a problem with battery :
Every morning, after booting, my phone was powered off over all the night, I can see my battery decreasing by 10%!!!! And I sometimes notice after few minutes that it increases itself bit by bit...
I've already did a battery calibration, but not after flashing the new Siyah' 2.0 kernel.
This is very annoying, and makes me wondering if I should recalibrate or what...???
BTW, the question is : HOW ?
Some say you have first delete batterstats, power off, then full charge.
Others say you have to power off, full charge, manually delete batterstats.bin, or use Battery Calibration App.
What is the f*** best way to calibrate our battery ?
I'm really pissed off loosing 10% battery with my phone powered off every morning...
Regards.
Using Revolution 2.7.1 ROM with SiyahKernel v2.0
This might just be the ramblings of a mad man, but I have been thinking lots lately about battery calibration on the sgs2.
Normally on most android phones the power off charge is completely independent from the rom so that if you charge when powered off you know it is really a full charge, not controlled by pre-logged battery stats, you can then wipe the stats and get a better idea of what "full" is when you are powered on.
On the SGS2 the charge when powered off is still controlled by the rom (see the app "no moar powah" for an example of this), therefore it may still be under the control of the same battery stats so may not indeed charge any more than what the rom thinks is full when you are powered on.
Wow, thanks for your explanation...
But, it makes me perplexed. If you're alright, you mean that battery calibration doesn't work on S2 ?!
So, in this case, how to solve my problem ?

the best thing you can try is to run the battery flat, charge while off, wipe battery stats anyway and hope for the best.
Will try it again ....
Maybe should I flash another rom after full wipe, or stick to a stock one.
I can't imagine that my battery is defected yet !
Maybe this could help :
Just after full charging, use Battery Calibration App, and notice it didn't delete Batterystats.bin in data/system... I've always use it and never pay attention... (maybe error with SU permission ?)
Very strange, so this time I delete it manually.
Maybe, it'll calibrate my battery well this time.
Wait n see.

Weirdly, I noticed that yesterday! I don't think it works on all roms, I'm definitely going to do it manually from now on.
My first current conclusion :
The best way to calibrate your f*** battery is definitely to do it manually.
Just delete batterystats.bin in data/system, after full charging (with Rootexplorer or another app)
Then, use it until to 90%, and full charging.
That's all ATM.
Why ?
Because, I've just noticed that Battery Calibration App doesn't always delete this file. Ya, sometimes, It works, but sometimes It sucks. I don't know why, but seems to be related to some SU version and permissions' bugs...
Hope it could help some of you.

Is that the same as doing it through Clockworkmod advanced/wipe battery stats?
It is normally the same thing, I prefer IMO to do it manually.

Try this,
charge your phone to 100%
restart your phone to CWM
go to advanced,
and click on wipe battery stats
and reboot
remove phone from charger
let it drain until phone switches off. (just make the battery dead asap)
then power on using the charger and examine the results.
check if you have enough juice to last on that. it should extend the charge in the battery.
try and see or let someone here offer a better solution.

I'm going to try that...thanx
but what do you mean with this: check if you have enough juice to last on that?
Sorry if you misunderstood. i meant like after a full 100% charge, see how long that battery lasts. if it comes to normal like you had before, then ok. or else repeat again the process for the last time.
some devs or users can help you if this keeps going on and on like this......(draining of battery)

I flashed this custom rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480337 and was using it for like two days and everything was super smooth, responsive and so on but than I noticed that my battery percentage stays the same until I reboot the phone. I tried installing other roms and kernels, I even relocked the bootloader and went back to stock but no help. Please help guys.. I am attaching image of my battery use here which is constant with steps where I reboot..

Flash sirkays 6.1.1 ics kernel. In which you can use your phone for 2 days
Then flash hybrid rom(2.3)--I choose this rom coz it is lite and can run very smooth even in 800mhz
Then under clock your phone to 800mhz and use conservative governor

Thanks but I don’t think you understood me. Even though I do have battery problems concerning its life it is not the problem I am posting here for. The problem is that my phone is unable to measure battery percentage for some reason..

Nope, it's measuring correctly I think this problem is due to your kernel
Then measure your battery percent graph after u flash sirkays kernel and hybrid rom....

Charge your phone to 100% (421)and then calibrate it....IT SHOULD WORK
maybe reflash ics firmware or change battery or take it to repair center
Just restart your phone.
r
When I plug my charger percentage remains frozen so can’t see wen it is fully charged. And when I try to calibrate it just says 0% battery spent for example when calibrating web browsing... It is as if some battery sensor burned out or something. Could that be the case?

did that problem existed before you bought the phone?
No it didn’t it just started couple of days ago.
The thing is that I can read my battery status via hard battery calibrator script which means that sensors are still operating. but I cant recharge my phone via usb and I cant reed my battery status on it (in status bar). Also my battery time is extremely poor - like 12 hours max on very little usage (about 8 hours of me sleeping included) or like 3-4 hours of heavy usage. Is there any one here with knowledge to help me? Thanks in advance

Device do work while battery removed! Like when we flash it through spft!
The only needed thing is hardwork and open mind! I do.think it is possible but not much sure!
I think there is a hardware hurdle in doing so
(Laptops have the required hardware. )
