I like XBMC with the Navi-X add-on because it has just about every movie out there. But the videos are all jacked up on our tablet because XBMC needs hardware acceleration to render the videos. The nightly build of XBMC has the correct hardware acceleration for our tablet, so
1.Download the nightly build here:
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/android/arm/
2. Download Navi-X from here:
https://code.google.com/p/navi-x/downloads/list
3. Install XBMC.
4. Unzip Navi-X.
5. Modify "addon.xml" so that it reads xbmc.python version 2.1.0 instead of 1.0
6. Zip it back up.
7. Open XBMC and goto System: Addons: Install from Zip file: (and navigate to your revised zip file, select it and install it)
8. Explore the magical realm of streaming movies.
9. Navigate to the programs: program addons: Navi-X
10. Goto Navi-Xtreme portal, then most viewed in 24 hours, and you should get it from there...
Now we can watch all kinds of videos on our tablet with the nightly build of XBMC with a modified zip of Navi-X. Credit goes to the developers of Navi-X and XBMC.

I'm not too familiar with Navi-X, but from the descriptions I found, it just seems like a large search engine for online movie streams. Are there many HD (720p/1080p) streams, or are most of them average quality?
Help

You need a program like "axel" or another XML editor. Edit it, then save it and zip it up.

And then did you goto system; and from there the addons tab, and from there install from zip, and from there find your fixed zip? When you click on the fixed zip, it will say "addon so and so added" or "there was a problem so and so". Did you see this message?

I thought I might say, XBMC is still a bit buggy. But that's gonna happen on nightly builds.
As for your structure problem, read the posts above;
me too!

l too am having this same issue. What am I doing wrong? Also, is this worth the trouble? Will I have to Keep updating this?
The problem is either that you are changing more than just the number in the XML, or that when you are rezipping the navi-x your not including everything that was unpacked. Try unpacking the zip in a folder called UNZIPPED, then after you edit the XML rezip everything in that folder.
Also, it's worth it if you like navi-x. But it still has bugs, as it's even earlier than a beta. So, use it and be happy until the beta comes out, or wait till the beta comes out and use some other program.... (That I don't know of, cause this is the best and only one of its kind)
works great
I found some good streams- I assume a new nightly update needs to be installed daily? what about other add on program info?
nice post!

How is the video quality? I have tried a few different programs and so far I found tango to have the best quality of video. It's funny when you watch the commercials for video chating and the video is crystal clear.
Is the video fixed in this one? no more sideways video?
To be honest, the screen shot shows nobody with video chat was available, so I couldn't test it, But this is from a new official HTC build, so it should fix the sideways camera issues that sense ROMs would receive.

At the top right, there's a button that says mount R/W (Read And Write) Click it.
Once you click it, it will say mount RO (Read Only.) Don't click it again, leave it as is. Then you can edit system files. If you need a screen shot, let me know.
Edit: I see you got it. Let me know hoe it goes. You don't have to, but I do just for extra precaution, change owner to root. Dame like changing permissions, but instead scroll until you see change owner.

Hi
It's a thread which collects Ubuntu stuff for SGS2 and includes some of my mods.
The content is from or based on fire314's, JDouce's and zacthespack's work. And their work is based on other people's work, so thanks everybody
Why is it better, than the sources I used?
-it's up to date
-works
-smallest download size
-less space required on sd/internal storage
-very detailed instructions
Why to use Ubuntu on an Android phone?
Why to overclock?! Just because we can do it To show off
And you can use Chromium browser to browse the web, you can edit documents in Open/Libre Office, etc.

Download
I recommend this Lubuntu img, made by zacthespack, edited by me.
It's less than 500MB to download, 1800MB img file size on the phone, and sports LXDE (leightweight desktop):
Filehosting.org
Ubuntu One
Dropbox
Google docs
It is the necessery script to run Ununtu/Lubuntu, made by fire314:
ubi.sh
Ubuntu One
Dropbox
It is an Ubuntu img (Gnome desktop), made by JDouce, modded by me.
It's almost 1GB to download and 2,5 or 3GB (I don't remember) on the phone:
Depostie Files
Fileserve
Then, there is the one made by JDouce without any mod.
Almost 1,5GB to download in 2 parts, and 3,5GB (as I remember) on the phone:
Part 1
Part 2
The original from zacthespack:
Link to he's thread
He works on it, and uploads new versions, so no need to place a link for the file itself.
There are 2 versions now:
Ubuntu - 1,5GB to download and 3,5GB on phone
Lubuntu - 500MB to download and 2,5GB on phone
Instructions:
1. Choose one of the images (will add more later) and download it, and get the script aswell
2. Unzip ubuntu.img and copy it and ubi.sh to your sdcard or internal storage, both files to the same folder
3. Open a terminal emulator and type:
su
Accept root permission request if appears, then type:
cd (name of the place where the files are. Example: cd /sdcard)
You can check if the files are there by typing „ls”. If everything is fine, than type:
sh ubi.sh
like this:
and if everything is fine you get this:
4.Open a VNC client and fill out the following
password: ubuntu
address: localhost
port: 5900
set colors to 24bit
5. Hit Connect button
6. Now you should set the "mouse"
touch Menu button
Input mode
Touchpad
Turning it off:
In the VNC client:
touch Menu button
Disconnect
In the terminal emulator:
touch Menu button
Close window
accept it
You can add, delete programs in Synaptic.
If you want to start Lubuntu/Ubuntu anytime, just do the 3rd and 4th steps ; )
I didn't do much. I just made some small changes. All the credits go to zacthespack, JDouce and fire314.
I know, that JDouce has a thread, but he doesn't do much nowadays. He edited the OP more than 5 months ago. And I think it's such a fun, that it deserves some more attention.
Troubleshooting:
If it doesn't start after step 4, or your phone reboots after step 3:
change kernel!
Siyah 2.6.8 changelog:
-fixed the bug which prevented using ubuntu and was causing some random reboots...
so earlier versions doesn't work
If it starts, but the mouse pointer doesn't move:
check the step 6 in the OP
If you can't read or mount the sdcard/internal storeage after turning Ubuntu off:
reboot
Download links are up!
Let me know which one is the fastest and where would you like to see the next versions uploaded.
And if you have any question or suggestion, don't hold it back

I am looking for a way to get Asus Transformer Prime capable of developing Android Apps, so it might not just be funny, but also very useful
I did try to see if I could make my SGS2 dual boot, but it did not work for me so far. And I am not sure I would want this as the phones OS, although it is temping if it can also use one of those Android App players that seems to be in development. I am not sure if they are even trying to target Linux though.

I watch stuff on Hulu.com all the time (about once or twice a day) with the stock browser from CyanogenMod 7.1.0.1 and the latest Flash from the Market (with a modified libflashplayer.so file which tells Hulu it's a Windows PC you're coming from and not an Android device) and changing the UserAgent setting in the browser to tell Hulu.com that you're coming from a desktop web browser (as a lot of their videos are not licensed for mobile viewing).
Just replace the libflashplayer.so file found in your data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib folder with the one I've attached as a zip file to this post and you should be good to go.
Also, for the best viewing experience, I've got my streaming settings in Hulu.com to stream at 288p and it streams nicely without any issues and the picture looks great.
Awesome info, wished I would have known about this before but the app itself isn't too bad. This should help others who are looking to do the same thing.
thanks! this is great
Also, just an FYI...
Several television networks have full episodes of popular shows and current episodes on their websites. With my current browser and Flash setup I watch Person of Interest and C.S.I. on CBS.com, the current season of Downton Abbey on PBS.org and Fox.com has a bunch of shows (some are also on Hulu but some are not).

The path I posted before is the correct full path. Perhaps you are using a file explorer that can only see the SD card and not the root of the file structure? I use Root Explorer which can see all of the files/folders but I've heard some people have used ES File Explorer (free) and that it can also see all of the folders and files.
I'm using ES File Explorer and Astro but can't find the path you mentioned on both the eMMC and SD card.

The guy that sits next to me at work has his NC running CyanogenMod 7.1 off of his micro SD card and he can see the data folder on his NC as well. The only thing I can say to try is to get to the root folder of whatever file explorer you're using until you can see the data file. If you're at the root level you should see folders like the ones in my first screenshot.
Can you get a screenshot of your file structure and post it? If you don't know it already CM 7 has that feature built in. Just hold down the power button for a second and when the power menu pops up one of the choices is "screenshot".

The only thing I can say to try is to get to the root folder of whatever file explorer you're using until you can see the data file. If you're at the root level you should see folders like the ones in my first screenshot.
Can you get a screenshot of your file structure and post it? If you don't know it already CM 7 has that feature built in. Just hold down the power button for a second and when the power menu pops up one of the choices is "screenshot".

thx for the help your screenshots helped. i didnt drill down pass the data folder. it didnt say to go into the adobe flashplayer folder on the original posting of where to go. i guess it was assumed. thx for the help !
using Ghost Commander (free) from the Market I was able to find the listed path and it worked great. make sure you don't have auto-update enabled with the Flash player else it will over-ride the file. If so just copy it again. Thanks

This is a tutorial explaining how to install and modify Adobe Flash Player
to view Hulu Free content on a compatible Android browser. The modification script was made by user NoSudo, whose official thread can be found here.
Root is required for this to work
KitKat 4.4 users see this post for instructions.
Step 1: Install & Configure BusyBox
• Install JRummy's Busybox Installer app from the PlayStore: link
• Open BusyBox Installer and select version 1.20 (not the latest) & install location: /system/xbin
• Click Install
Step 2: Install Script Manager - SManager
• Install Script Manager (free) from PlayStore: link
Step 3: Install Adobe Flash Player 11.1.115.36
• http://download.macromedia.com/pub/...roid/11.1.115.36/install_flash_player_ics.apk
Step 4: Download & Extract FLASHEX 2.05
• Download Flashex205.zip from the attachment below
• Extract the zip using a file manager app & copy Flashex2 folder to root of sdcard (IMPORTANT)
Step 5: Execute FLASHEX script
• Open ScriptManager app & navigate to Flashex2 folder
• Click the flashex205.sh file
• Select "Su" (skull and crossbones icon) & Run
• (Optional) If you want this script to run automatically at each boot, click the Boot option next to the Su from the previous line.
If all went well you should have a patched Adobe Flash Player!
To view Hulu Free flash content you need a compatible browser (I use Boat Browser) and in settings change the "User Agent" to Desktop.
P.S. Getting it to work is one achievement, but getting it to play fluidly is another. I have noticed that different ROMs, Kernels, and even Browsers have an effect on the smoothness of the video playback. I've also found that on my Nexus 10, the audio and video begins out of sync. I've figured out that changing the quality setting on the video after it has begun to play reloads and resyncs it again. More tweaking and testing may eventually improve this but if you're having any of these issues with playback, you're not alone.

thx for the guide, will it only work in the US?

No problem. Yes, unfortunetly the same international restrictions would apply.
Thank you
Working great and smoothly with no sync issue on my htc sensation 4g with Elegancia rom and using proxydroid for us proxy server.
I love Android.
Cannot run script.
I have it stored in the SDcard but when I run the script I get the following message.
/storage/emulated/0/flashex205.sh cannot write to or /.
This message means the scropt can't create any files in teh intended location(s)
try just installing the script in the /mnt/sdcard/Flashex2 and make sure you have read/write permissions in it.
I then changed the directory to /sdcard and reran it and got the same error.
I am running AOKP Buttered 4.2.2 ROM

Just to be sure, do you have the "Flashex2" folder with all its containing files copied to the root of the sdcard before you ran the flashex205.sh script? The flashex205.sh script has to be executed inside the Flashex2 folder...which has to be on the root of your sdcard.
Example: /sdcard/Flashex2/flashex205.sh
• Extract the zip using a file manager app & copy Flashex2 folder to root of sdcard (IMPORTANT)

Ahhh ok so I cannot read very well It installed now thanks. I did not have the folder there just the script. I tried Hulu after I did everything. I am using Boat I set the user agent to desktop and I get the error that Hulu requires Flash player 10.1.53.64 or higher. I have the patched 11.1 installed.
Thanks so much for this! As an added bonus, this mod allows Amazon Instant Video to work. Woo hoo!

Hmm, make sure in boat browser settings under Page Content Settings you have enabled flash plugin.
That fixed it thanks.

ugh....what am I doing wrong?!
I followed the steps and I keep getting Sorry Unfortunately Hulu isn't supported by your device
i'm sure i'm doing something wrong...any idea?
For people that have init.d support I have added a CWM zip that will enable everything for you.
Instead of the working folder being on the SD it is now in data/Flashex2
If you already have flash installed, uninstall it before flashing the zip. Also wipe the dalvik cache and cache partition after flashing the zip.
What it installs:
Flash 11.1.115.36
Busybox 1.20
Flashex 2.05
May take a couple of reboots to set everything up.
problems
I am on Verizon Galaxy Note 3 and follow this step by step and it doesn't work for me. I give SU permission and go to run scripts and it either hangs there or gives me an error each time. I even tried a different app to run scripts and it gives me an error. I have the folder unzipped in the root of my sdcard0. Please help as I can watch flash videos, but still no hulu
"Hulu requires Flash player 10.1.53.64 or higher" Error
I am also getting the Hulu requires Flash player 10.1.53.64 or higher. Script was copied to /mnt/sdcard/Flashex2, directory has r/w, and script executed properly as root and showed no errors. I'm running the latest version of Boat, have Flash set to "Always On", and user agent set to "Desktop". Any ideas?
What version of Android are you guys running? Since KitKat 4.4, Adobe Flash Player doesn't work with the standard apk.

Try flashing the zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46165947&postcount=13 ...Then open up Script Manager and run the flashex205.sh script from sdcard/data/Flashex2
For KitKat 4.4.X Users
-Uninstall previous version of Adobe Flash Player
-Install the attached Adobe Flash Player apk
-Follow all of the steps from the OP (obviously, with the exception of the "Install Flash Player" step since we are using the one from this post).
-Now Adobe Flash content will work but you must use Dolphin Jetpack browser for any flash content (including Hulu)
P.S. You may have to go into Dolphin Jetpack settings and enable Flash before viewing...also change "User Agent" to "Desktop". :good:
While flashing a rom, sometimes we get a "status 7 error". This Guide helps you to get out from it, and flash your favourite rom. Let's get started.
Move to META_INF > COM > GOOGLE > ANDROID by extracting the rom.
Here you will find a file "updater-script". Rename this file as updater-script.doc (microsoft word format) or use notepad++ (preferably)
(in some pc, extensions are nor visible. to make them visible, follow these steps)
Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking
Folder Options.
Click the View tab, and then, under Advanced settings, do one of the following:
To display file extensions, clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box, and then click OK.
Double click to open it( microsoft word preferred)
delete text, starting from "assert ....... till the semicolon ( of the last getprop command).
(See the image in the attached file for carefully deleting the lines. Click this link.)
Save the file now.
Again rename the file, and delete the .doc extention
Now go back and zip these files again. and you will get a zipped rom.
And the status 7 error has now been removed!

hey!
while flashing roms, many times we get a "status 7 error". while searching in many threads, we do not get how to resolve it. i will tell you each and every thing step by step
so i made a NOOB FRIENDLY WAY TO RESOLVE STATUS 7 ERROR
make sure that the rom you have downloaded matches your phone model, if you flashed some other rom, you may hard brick your device.
1. First extract your rom (for example using 7-zip)
2. Go to the folder META_INF > COM > GOOGLE > ANDROID
3. Here you will find a file "updater-script"
4. Rename this file as updater-script.doc (microsoft word format)
5. Double click to open it( microsoft word preferred)
6. delete text, starting from "assert ....... till the semicolon( of the last getprop command. (see image in attached file-lines to delete)
7. Now save the file
8. Again rename the file, and delete the .doc extention
9. now go back to the main rom folder where you extracted the 3 files. zip these files again. and you will get a zipped rom.
and the status 7 error has now been removed!:good:
happy flashing :victory::victory:
at last, as you read in every post, i am not responsible for any bricked device.

so the advice is to remove the device check?
How about a tip on how to use the proper device id or name?
So where do I look in the device to use the name that works?
That would be better imho.
I did try to use the values in the build.prop file from the running device, but that did not work eiter.
Now i'm getting status 4 error

Solution:- One or some of the prerequisite requirement for the needed upgrade is missing or corrupted . So you may need to identify and replace that requirement for the installation to continue. Most likely could be due to wrong bootloader, wrong CWM, Wrong IMEI, Wrong Radio etc
