Improve sound quality on stock based rom? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys I'm using Omega v56 Rom which is really great. However, I have noticed that the stock based Roms do not have a good quality when you are listening music with your headphones. However, AOSP roms or MIUI sound awesome. Is there any tweek to improve this or make it sound louder. Quality is fine but too low. Please let me know. Thanks in advance

I have no sound problem, with stock and decent earbuds and level is to high .
Best for stock is the Viper4Android app and IRS .
See V4A thread in XDA .
Read the sound quality thread .

Flash lastest Boeffla kernel from: http://boeffla.df-kunde.de/sgs3/boeffla-kernel/Test_jb43/
Download Boeffla-configV2 from PlayStore -> Boeffla-Sound and adjust it to your taste (I recommend Archis Audiophile equalizer)

Thank you so much, I will try that. If eventually I wanna try an Aosp rom will I have to remove this Kernel or something like that (never have flashed a kernel before)? Can this be flashed if I am using a stock rom with root (just wondering)?

1-No, you'll just have to do a full wipe as recommended for moving between roms.
2- Yes, you can flash it on any Sammy's 4.3 rom (using odin or CWM based recovery).
BTW- make sure to install the kernel in the link I gave you, because there are several versions for each rom type (CM, 4.1.2, 4.3, Omni etc).
Second, I recommend following developer's guide for configurating the kernel to your liking:

Samsung vs Custom Roms

After trying out many custom roms I have decided to try and make a performance test and see how custom roms perform relative to Samsung stock rom.
It is a stock XWLPX ROM with Dorimanx kernel.
To be honest the stock Rom is my primary Rom and all custom time where run as secondary.
Custom Rome include BluRom V5, NeatRom 3.3, Sensation 4.1, insanity ii ICS and JB. I excluded Custom Stock 2 and punisher since they were lagging to begin with.
The test wad done using CF-BENCH and wad performed right after a clean install except for the stock that had my full apps array installed.
Since the primary and secondary roms share the same kernel, the all tested with Dorimanx 5.80.
The results are that the stock outperformed all of them by quite a distance.
The most quick of the custom were the BluRom and NeatRom.
The custom roms averaged at these results 10150,3000,6100 the stock Rom averaged at 12500,3400,6440.
I do not know if the fact that they were run as secondary roms has something to do with the result, maybe someone that understands the underlying mechanism can comment on that, but that's it.
Nevertheless the customs had some advantage over the stock in styling and appearance when my favorite is the Bluarom V5.
Your opinions, experience is much welcome.
I will try some others in the future if anybody will find interest in this.

interesting man.
I had JellyBean MIUI for a while then I switched back to Standard Samsung based MIUI because I felt battery life wasn't as good on JellyBean without samsung sources.
So yeah

In my experience JB roms are not so good yet and their biggest problem is the memory leak that cause the phone to lagg big time unless you reset it once a day or two.

I never understood the stability or reliability of benchmark results, but maybe there are. The thing is, even if the results were way better in custom ROM I'd never give a damn about it and keep using stock ROMs.
Anyway, thanks to you for doing the comparison.

Bluetooth works - but not with music using loudspeaker
Hello friends,
I've just yesterday instaled the BluRom V5 by Blur75 ... IT IS AMAZING ... in my opinion )).
So tadoy when I was triyng to conect to my bluetooth car sistem (parot CK3100) is everything working OK - I mean it conects and I can talk over the phone witout problem.
The thing that does'nt work is the when I try to play music or even a video in my phone - and hear it over the car loudspeaker. In this case it is not transmitting the sound ((( .
Before I've had the 2.3.6 Gingerbread and using the app "Supermono Froyo" without a single problem :good:...
So somebady can help me with this -
THANK A LOT IN ADVANCE

Update
Chamileon 1.3 got good results much like Blurom and neatrom which means it also does not beat the Samsung stock.
I also did a test using a xwlpu stock deodexed rom as my secondary rom and it got results a bit better then the custom roms but not as good as the stock xwlpt rom which is odexed rom.
My conclusion is that most of the performance difference comes from the fact that all custom roms are deodexed. Maybe one of you devs can create the exact same rom - lets say chamileon - odexed abd deodexed and I will test both and report back with the results.

I suggest you ask that in the rom's thread, where they discuss the specific rom issues.

Tried it, but it make speaker quieter!
If i set +5 the volume decrease xD
I think the only way is to increase it via a file or init.d
I found a file called m0 in system/etc/sound very similar to default_gain.config.. But nothing changes
The kernel is really similar to cyanogen one, if can help

I've Just installed a custom rom on my GS3, everything works pretty fine. But the sound production quality from the speakers in distorted and very bad. The Custom ROM had DSP manager, I removed it, but that didn't help.
The sound was okay, until I was running the TouchWiz Based ROM.
Please help friends!

Kernel and Sound

hi guys. i´m trying to put my i9305 LTE the best mp3 player that i can get. i read that are some kernels (siyha) that has audio adjustments that "boosts" the sound, but o confess im really noob with flashing kernels and im afraid something goes wrong..
currently, i run CM11 nightly, but i can also run the CM10.1.3, i don't care about the android version on the phone...and i only "know" cyanogen mods.
so, i ask, is there any rom that as built in some kernel like siyha (i read that boeffla does the "same") that i can just flash the rom and complete my golds for sound?
i searched and searched but really i do know any other rom´s by using them...maybe someone with more experience can help me..
thnks
dont really need a kernel for that just go to the market and install viper4android or go here to the official viper4android site on XDA. It will amp your sound easily without having to have a new kernel

Every good kernel has an Instalation Guide. Follow this steps and no problem
You must find compatible kernel.
Also you must find that kernel include app or you must use Aroma installer to change anything

I tried cm 10.1, omnirom, ct-rom and with these roms if i flash boeffla nothing happens, if i flash agni stays in bootloop..
The only rom that has what i need(kernel)is amsha but i hate the design :/
To flash a zip kernel is not the normal procedure in cwm?

With Agni, you'll have to flash a custom recovery thats able to run f2fs (check the thread, you'll be able to find a link there)
If you get the chance I'd check out SOKP, Milestone 2 is a bit buggy at the moment but they're rolling out MS3. Where most of the bugs are fixed.
Thats part of the reason why SOKP has such a huge following haha
Good Luck!
-- edit --
On the i9305, the boffela kernel + the control app (you can find it on LordBoeffla's website for free) will let you "amplify" the sound. Youll find this under the sound's tab in the boffela control app.
For the best audio, try to tweak it so then you get the minimum background "hiss" [set the android master volume around 80-90% then drop the boffela volume to an acceptable level for your earphone/headphone]
(From a semi audiophile's POV, you're better off getting a dedicated DAP if you're using the i9305 only as an Audio player. If you dont have that much music, you may want to try and stuff all of it on the on board storage as running it off the MicroSD may deter audio quality [from bottlenecks and what not])
thnks for all your helps after trying and trying, i managed to flash c-rom, and the agni kernel, i did not test exaustly but i think its this im looking for...a rom seemed like cyanogenmod and a sound tweak option...the only "problem" for now is i cannot update to the last version of c-rom, i will try to read all the posts on the right section to figure out whats happening...

[Q] Which is the most simple custom rom based on stock 4.1.2

I have CyanogenMod 10.2.0, and I'm very happy whit it, but one of its little issues is it doesn't support HDMI output whit the adapter.
So, using the dual boot option in googy max kernel, I want to flash a rom (and has to be android 4.1.2), essencially just for that. Some time ago I flash the Omega rom, but couldn't make the camera work, despite of the app I used.
Which custom rom is the simpliest (is that a word?? ), smooth, stable and -camera fully functional- ?? I'm sure there's a lot, and don't want to start an eternal debate, just a short list, please
Thanks in advance.
Edit: just realiced this goes in Galaxy SIII Q&A forum, sorry for that, how can I move it?

Ok, I haven't tried those, I'll give them a try
Thanks!
But I am tempted to believe it's a kernel issue. anyone know if that could be the problem?
