installing stock rom without a usb cable - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi,
I have an xperia go. The place I put my usb cable on was broken and since I had a custom rom in it, I didn't send it to warranty so I made some place else repair it.
now it charges but it isn't able to connect to pc. I use an ftp server to connect my phone to my pc, so if there is something like a zipped stock rom, I could use it to install the stock rom and maybe then I'd send it to warranty. (if it's not that void yet)...and if it is void, I need it anyway because 4.4.2 android rom can't play videos with a proper resolution. I mean it looks great only with the center mode of the video player, with fit to screen, crop modes the image sucks.
there was a similar question answered but that answer doesn't work with xgo.

Are you sure that your usb port from your go is broken??

well, my little cousin saw that it wasn't charging but sometimes charging so he forced the charger to get inside the socket and then the part of the phone that you plug the phone into was stucked inside the charger. ( so I lost both charger and the usb socket.)
it was definitely broken.

try changing your usb cable.
in my case it was my usb cable that is broken
and next time, please post Q&A related thread here [url="http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/issues]Xperia P, U, Sola, Go Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting[/url], not in general section
edited : didnt read the post above me, well if something stuck in your usb socket i can only say..
good luck sending your phone to service center

[Q] Erm... I think I brickedmy phone...

Tried to flash my phone from 2.1 back to 1.6 and now it wont turn on... I can't get it into flash mode because I have a dodgy frickin' USB port on my phone...
I take the battery out, re insert it, press power button and it vibrates, flashes the led and then nothing.
Please help
Thanks in advance

Just reflash your phone. There are plenty of resources in this forum.
Try changing your USB cable first.
And I'm just wondering why you'd want to downgrade from 2.1 to 1.6.
If you're sure there's a problem with the USB connector on the phone then your best bet is to take it to your local SE support.

I cant get into flash mode! I was downgrading so i could take it back and get the USB Port repaired
In that case take it to Sony Ericsson's repair center as it is in its current state if you're certain the USB port is preventing the connection to the PC.

[Solved] Phone not charging, PC not regocnizing phone.

Hi,
[SGS2 i9100 unbranded]
After I rooted and installed new ROM [Resurrection Remix 1.2] the phone doesnt charge anymore. PC also doesnt register the phone. When my phone is turned OFF and I plug the charger cable in, the phone turns ON but after that it still doesnt charge.
With the ROM I also installed kernel that came with it [Siyah].
I can still use Odin with download mode. So what I've tried is flash stock firmware with stock kernel. But the problem is still there. Phone shows that it is charging, but it isnt. Also when the phone is completely off, it turns on when I plug the cable in. And PC not seeing phone.
Anyone know how I can solve this, or can point me to a thread?
Thanks in advance
Again first is to clean your USB port .

THINGS TO CHECK
1. clean usb in phone with tooth brush, then check to see if it worked
2. change charger, then check to see if it worked
3. change usb cable, then check to see if it worked
4. change battery, then check to see if it worked
5. make sure you have samsung kies installed correctly, then check to see if it worked
6. change usb port, then check to see if it worked
7. try on a different computer, then check to see if it worked
after youve tried all that, post back your status

This must be your 10 million's post to users about USB port cleaning
Thanks for the reply's. I had already done a couple of the steps. The port isn't dirty, and as I said it works in download mode. I tried different battery and cable also, that didn't help.
The weird part is that the phone turns itself ON even when I've completely turned it OFF (battery out - in) I plug the charger in and the phone turns ON albeit not charging.
Thanks guys, after more thorough cleaning of the port, it seems everything is working as it should again.
I still dont understand how a 'dirty' usb port can make the phone turn on when plugged though.

Who knows, which kind of dirt is laying on your Micro USB socket which may act as a conductor to connect between pins of the USB port, even small resistance varriation may create problem,
You may know about the Jig, when we connect pin 4 and 5 with 300k ohms then you get download mod....

any possible way to get this tablet up and running?

GTP7510MAYXAR wont connect to pc, usb not recognized. In odin mode it does the same. Pc doesnt have bluetooth either.
When inserting a usb female connector it does say usb connection, but the usb flash drives did not show. Tablet
also charges healthy.
I want to root this, install clockwork recovery, flash rom to jb 4.2.2, but without the help of that pc i am stuck on 4.04 stock.
Bought this from someone so no previous exp with this device.
Any way to root and install recovery with tablet alone itself?
Thank you for your time:laugh:
Maybe I'm underestimating your experience, but you can try this to see whether USB storage works:
Go to Settings -> Storage -> the 3-lined menu button at the top right corner -> USB PC connection -> Media device (MTP)
I wish this can help. if you have further questions we are here to help at any time.
Good luck!

Ofcourse i tried it hihi:highfive:
But i am starting to think its faulty hardware as no one has any idea about the issue
I actually bought mine in the exact same condition. It would not work on usb no matter what i did also a few other 'bugs' I thought it was a faulty cable but it turned out to be corrupted files on the rom.
Long story short, reatoring the tab to factory via ODIN fixed everything.

Well, you could use mobile ODIN or Rom Manager. However, you need to be able to pull the backup you're going to make before you install that custom rom off of the device. Using USB is a simple way of doing that. It's possible to get it off over WiFi, but you really should fix the USB.

[Q] i9100 detected by ODIN, but will not even charge from a USB when plugged in

Hi guys,
Its a bit confusing but I'll try to keep it as short as possible. It seems basically that I can charge fine in recovery and download but not in the ROM. Syncing doesn't work at all except download..
I have an i9100m. Ran NeatROM and RootBOX and dabbled with a few roms.
Now I'm not sure if it was the roms or wear and tear but I had ASSUMED until today that my USB port was messed. It would not even charge from a PC nevertheless mount as a mass storage on my PC. It can charge fine from an AC adapter.
Anyway, today I randomly decided to put my phone into download mode and what do you know, the phone detects, and I even see it in ODIN, so I guess my USB port is not messed afterall. Perhaps something with the ROMs and kernels that messed it up?
I think this was around the same time when my Triangle went away.... (I never removed it). In download mode now, it says:
Custom binary Download: NO
Current Binary: SAMSUNG Official
I'm rooted and not stock at all so I wonder if that's the cause?
I was thinking of downloading a stock TAR of my carrier and flashing through ODIN. Do you guys think this is sufficient to "Reset" it back to how it was all the way before? And then I'll root and go back to one of my trusted roms (and not mess around)
Thanks
Do you use the original USB cable to connect your phone? That could be an issue.
Anyways, I don't think that something is messed up software-side if you tried several ROMs.
Worst case is that the USB port of your phone is damaged =/
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9100 mit Tapatalk 4 Beta
Yes I am using the original cable. (all same result but obviously wanted to use the original just in case)
I was thinking the USB port was damaged too because after reading, I guess apparently I accidentally created a usb jig? (triangle went away + stats wiped...)
But that aside, if my USB port is damaged, how come when I'm in download mode, PC and ODIN detect a device is connected and it charges, whereas within the ROM, I get neither ???
Just an update guys,
I used ODIN to flash completely back to stock... and I still cannot charge from PC. Basically computer doesn't see the phone at all. So it has to be a damaged port.. unless theres something else other than the internal SD that I can wipe????? I wanted to wipe everything..
Still really puzzles me though... that ODIN can see it in Download Mode.
One of the mysteries I guess.
Did you try to clean your mini usb port on the mobile? It could help.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
So....your phone only charges on DL Mode?????
Sent from the little guy
I have tried to blow some air in there.. any other suggestions?
Well, the computer only recognizes the device in download mode, Windows sees the device, otherwise it doesn't.Just strange that I was able to flash an entire stock image through ODIN but in the ROM can't even get the computer to recognize that ANYTHING is plugged in (or the phone to charge so the phone doesn't see anything either)
And again, whats even more strange is that i had that one cheap extendable USB cable that probably messed everything up (it removed my triangle..so I accidentally somehow created a jig?) is able to CHARGE the phone even in ROM but still the computer can't see it as a device. LOL
This is so messed. I guess my main thing is even if I go ahead to replace the USB port (get it repaired), do you guys still think this problem would occur... =\

I currently have the exact same problem, except for the flaky usb cable removing your triangle. Mine is still there.
I brought my S2 to a repair shop because i was sure it was my USB port, but the guy there told me it connected in download mode just fine so the USB port should be fine.
Here is what I tried so far
- cleaned USB port
- Used diferent cables
- Used different PC's
- Used different kernals
- Used different roms
- Re-formated/cleared/wiped everything I could find.
Did anyone find a solution? Should I still have my USB port replaced?

Not unless you are already rooted. Does the PC not recognize that you have plugged it in at all or does it just not load the drivers correctly? Best way to tell is to open your Device Manager and plug in the phone. the DM should reload and show something, whether an error or not. If it does not blink out and reload when you plug / unplug the phone, then it's either a hardware issue with the phone's USB port, a bad cable, or bad USB port on PC. And it is possible for a phone to charge correctly, but have issues connecting to a computer if the data pins are messed up. If it IS the phone's port, the repair isn't that bad and could be handle with some patience and simple tools as this one does not involve soldering. You'd need this:

Dude really thankful,
As you say, the PC dosn't recognize that the phone is plugged at all, I try all the usb port on my laptop, different cable, and even different laptop and the same problem keep comming up.
I tried also to reboot in odin mode to see if my laptop detecet anything, but nada, nothing in the DM.
Also, like you expect, it can charge but no data connection, and whene it turned off and I plug it it automaticly turned on by itself.
I pretty convinced that it usb port is screwed.
So, to install a rom my phone have to be rooted!! no way to root it from the recovery mode?!
Thanks again

You can try to clean your USB port of the phone with some compressed air, in case some pocket lint got in there too. Doesn't take much to mess these things up, unfortunately. But yea, I doubt there is a way to root it in the stock recovery as most Samsung phones don't have this option. It'd take less time to just fix it probably then figuring out how to jump through all the other hoops to find a way around it.
