Tried to flash my phone from 2.1 back to 1.6 and now it wont turn on... I can't get it into flash mode because I have a dodgy frickin' USB port on my phone...
I take the battery out, re insert it, press power button and it vibrates, flashes the led and then nothing.
Please help
Thanks in advance

Just reflash your phone. There are plenty of resources in this forum.
Try changing your USB cable first.
And I'm just wondering why you'd want to downgrade from 2.1 to 1.6.
If you're sure there's a problem with the USB connector on the phone then your best bet is to take it to your local SE support.

I cant get into flash mode! I was downgrading so i could take it back and get the USB Port repaired
In that case take it to Sony Ericsson's repair center as it is in its current state if you're certain the USB port is preventing the connection to the PC.

Hi
I have a very annoying problem:
My phone no longer registers when I plugin the usb-cable. It doesn't ask whether to go into usb-mode nor does it display that usb debugging is on. It is only possible to charge it and not to sync data.
Therefore I'd like to flash it back to a stock rom so I can get it repaired under the warranty. And since SEUS can't find my phone when it is connected, I need to find another way to do so.
So is it possible?
have u tried flashtool yet?
its under the development section

nopp charging and data goes in different cables.

Have you first tried the following :-
1) Different usb ports some laptops and desktops have front/side usb ports so try a rear one
2) Different usb cable (if its the charge/usb cable that came with the phone it could be damaged or the wires bent/cracked due to over use plugging into charge and then using it as a data cable
3) Different PC just incase something is wrong with your own (corrupt driver etc)
I would try these things before you start if it will connect but only charge I'm guessing that the cable is maby broken
you could also try staring the X10i in safe mode power off power on and soon as it vibrates hold the down part of the volume button and keep holding this down until the phone boots up
This will give you a pretty basic mode (safe mode) with stock applications running no market downloads etc and then try connecting your usb cable up see if it works then ... you could have a rogue application that uses the usb for sync function like a media player etc!?
Wow, rude much. I was offering a solution that worked for me when I was having an identical issue. Because I was able to charge, flash mode still worked. Also, as stated above, changing USB ports can help. No need to get snarky

JimmyX10 is right, however..
The phone is ONLY able to charge over USB.. No flashing capabilities so far..
I've tried SEUS and the flashtool..
I've also tried:
3 different USB cables (also tested okay on my Optimus X2)
3 different computers
And a bunch of different USB ports..
BUMP
Does anyone have any good ideas?
Yes you can flash your rom without PC....
1-hope ur fone is rooted
2-xRecovery installed
3-Search dev section for stock rom xRecovery installation or request to upload the same for U..
4-transfer the xrecovery .zip file to ur card by card reader.
5-flash it through xRecovery...
I believe it will solve ur prob....
Try this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054818
i think theres no problem as long as you got your phone rooted and have the stock rom stored in your computer. then you can transfer the rom to your phone via an sd card reader. lastly install it using xrecovery. problem solved
Friends I have a big problem, my xperia X10i suffered damage at
I can not connect USB to my computer, the phone has android
1.6 and want to upgrade at least to 2.1 but do not know where to find a
generic rom to do the update without connecting the phone to USB
computer.
I'm sorry to hear.
But you'll need a functional USB port and USB cable to update your phone software, so I suggest that you contact your retailer to leave it for service.

See if you can resold the micro USB pin connector.. or take the phone to an official center.. i guess that is the only way. unless that you make a root and installing the Xrecovery flash the rom from there, you can use a custom rom too
The problem is how to load the ROM with everything inside the micro SD card
Can you charge your battery with USB cable?
If so, you should be able to connect your X10 to your PC via USB.
Otherwise you should return your X10 to the Sony Repair Center.
If you want to load a rom you need a rooted X10 and "xrecovery"apk.
To make a root without Flashtool and USB cable, i think you can do with "z4root"apk.
You can also use "rom manager"apk to load a rom in SD card.
If you are on the stock 1.6, then I'll recommend that you take it to a service center and check, since it's probably a hardware problem (common in X10).
,My phone is dead now, because i flashed custom rom with the wrong custom kernel then after that, system got error, the SD card cant be mounted, SIM card not functioning, i cant even enter xrec mode,it resets itself automatically after few minutes, the worst part is that the USB port is no more recognized by the computer, charging become slower than usually....
i got my phone repaired twice, the USB port has been changed, but its still cant be detected, SE authorized repair center told me that the mainboard need to be replaced, and the price of the MB is almost the price of a new X10, what can i do without changing the MB? i love my X10。。。。
Anybody can help me?
This has been covered before. Search before posting in the future.
As for your problem, search for "Flashtool", and use it to repair your phone. Alternatively, use SEUS or PC Companion. If they don't work, then you might be in bigger trouble than I originally thought.
i cant use flashtool and SEUS bec. of the broken usb port. and its impossible to be repaired, any alternative way to repair it?
If xRecovery and Flashtool/SEUS doesn't work, and your USB port is definitely broken, then a new motherboard may be your only option unfortunately.
I have the same problem I think I have to sell my Xperia in parts.
Hey can anyone help my charger port is broken and my carrier refuse to fix my phone unless I can get it back to stock.
As my charger port is broken it means i cannot connect via usb to flashtool.

You're buggered then, even if you have the stock kernel you need your phone in flashmode (which involves connecting it to your pc via usb).
Apart from wiggling the cable to try and get it to connect you're pretty screwed try a sony ericsson or samsung cable aswell because these work on the mini/pro and I thought my USB was dead but it turned out to be the cable

Not unless you are already rooted. Does the PC not recognize that you have plugged it in at all or does it just not load the drivers correctly? Best way to tell is to open your Device Manager and plug in the phone. the DM should reload and show something, whether an error or not. If it does not blink out and reload when you plug / unplug the phone, then it's either a hardware issue with the phone's USB port, a bad cable, or bad USB port on PC. And it is possible for a phone to charge correctly, but have issues connecting to a computer if the data pins are messed up. If it IS the phone's port, the repair isn't that bad and could be handle with some patience and simple tools as this one does not involve soldering. You'd need this:

Dude really thankful,
As you say, the PC dosn't recognize that the phone is plugged at all, I try all the usb port on my laptop, different cable, and even different laptop and the same problem keep comming up.
I tried also to reboot in odin mode to see if my laptop detecet anything, but nada, nothing in the DM.
Also, like you expect, it can charge but no data connection, and whene it turned off and I plug it it automaticly turned on by itself.
I pretty convinced that it usb port is screwed.
So, to install a rom my phone have to be rooted!! no way to root it from the recovery mode?!
Thanks again

You can try to clean your USB port of the phone with some compressed air, in case some pocket lint got in there too. Doesn't take much to mess these things up, unfortunately. But yea, I doubt there is a way to root it in the stock recovery as most Samsung phones don't have this option. It'd take less time to just fix it probably then figuring out how to jump through all the other hoops to find a way around it.
