Dead xperia u - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi guys, i m having an xperia u running ics. it fell from my hands and froze so i took the battery out to restart, since then i cant turn on my phone when i press the power button it just vibrates once an there is backlight on the screen but nothing else not even the sony logo. Sometimes the illumination bar flashes green. i tried everything from removing the battery several times to flashing. the flashing proccess completes with no errors but the problem is still there. Any ideas? i have no custom roms or so only rooted with flashtools...

It seems the screen was broken take it to any nearby center to repair its hardware

Thank you for your answer, but i m pretty sure that the screen is not damaged maybe motherboard, although i would like to be sure that there is no software problem if possible... from what i have read when the sony logo doesnt appear means that the kernel is dammaged... is there any way to flash xperia u stock kernel first and then flash the firmware? also i had asked sony to give me the code to unlock the bootloader, but i never used it and didnt unlocked it, have i lost my warranty only for asking for the code?

Your warranty is still valid. I suspect your motherboard is damaged. But since u dropped it means warranty is gone

Finally, the problem was the screen and the touchpad, they changed both at the service point under warranty, as they had no obvious damage i guess... is this a common problem with st25?

Depends on your country/region, we do not know.
Also, depends on the problem, the repairing might cost more than new one, if you have really messed up.
What have you done actually?

I think he must be dropped his phone that cause its motherboard malfunction and broken...
Other possibilities maybe he open his phone and mess something with the hardware system that are connected to its motherboard,so something wrong happen and you know what happen...
I'm sorry that I can't help you anything, but I suggest you to ASK someone that have experience to check it for you first.Don't just go to shop and ask the shop worker to repair it directly...who knows maybe there is a little problem with your motherboard, and it could be repair with a little cost price?

I mistakenly restored a stock gingerbread backup over a stock ics kernel. I sent it to be fixed but they said the board was damaged i dint think software coulld damage hardware like that. The phone turns on but just stays at the sony logo. I tried reflashing with flashtool a few times and flash was sucsesfull bits sill the same. Then tried wotan server but it could not write the files to the phone im out of ideas.

Urghh there is no way the board/hardware borken because of software problem...I smell something fishy with the people that you send to fix the phone...
Try to flash stock kernel for your phone and compatible firmware with the stock kernel for your phone...I hope I helped you because I also run out of ideas

Yup, thered no way a kernel flash would damage hardware, the phone's hardware was either already damaged or they damaged it trying to fix was wasnt broken...
Or they Just didnt knew what they where talking about and decided to hike you...
Get it to stock and see if it solves your problem theres no reason not to.
Good luck

No bro, I have tried almost all kind of advices from the internet to get this issue resolved, but no luck, nothing helped. At last enquiredy deeply about this issue and found the thing, which is below.
Xperia Ray by default comes with Gingerbread , and it is upgradable to Icecream Sandwich. The thing is for many people who initialized the update from Sony for Migrating GB to IS, had got a new issue "Screen going Blank", this issue is due to the migration, which affect the relay part of the motherboard, so for the people who approaches Sony were got replaced with motherboard or mobile even(Only for warranty holding Customers).
People who doesn't have warranty have to throw the mobile, since instead of wasting money for motherboard replacement, we can buy a second hand Xperia ray phone.

Will Sony void your warranty if you root your phone?

Your DRM keys will be gone forever, that's how they can check
BUT most of the time they don't complain about rooted devices, it depends on the problem though, sometimes they could be *****y.

I think the question was about rooting, not bootloader unlock.
Gesendet von meinem LT26i
As long as your bootloader is locked then its fine as you will still have your DRM Keys.
I've rooted my Xperia S and sent it off to Sony to get it fixed (Yellow Tint and them not putting the new screen in properly) and they have fixed it both times. I would recommend completely wiping the phone to remove traces as they say it COULD void your warranty. They said the same thing about unlocking your bootloader but we know how that turned out.
So basically don't unlock your bootloader and you will keep your warranty.

Wrong, Google this, you'll find MANY people saying Sony REFUSED warranty because they KNEW they modified the software. Sony says on unlock bootloader sony.com they KNOW if you have done any of that so don't bother.
I set up a thread on this in the Arc section because as Doomlord points out, Sony did invite users to mod their phone to try the ICS beta. So it's confusing and unfair for them to now say no warranty. I contacted Sony a few days ago and asked this. It was so strange, the Sony guys closed the coversation so quickly, he said they 'can't help with that'. (Do they know they have an official website telling you how to do this? )
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
I ordered my new Sola and will have in a few days. I will NOT unlock the bootloader, destroying a new, 2 year warranty. Let us hope that there is a normal root for these devices soon.

As far as I understand after talking to Sony directly, I think this is completely correct. :victory:
Use the root mothod without unlocking bootloader, you'll do just fine.

OMG that was published today and you made the new tutorial! I kind of love you for that!
I bet I could hustle them and get them to fix it even though I have unlocked my bootloader. I have yet to be screwed out of a warranty by a company yet. Thankfully nothing is wrong with my phone though.
I even conviced ATT to give me a free Microcell device and got newegg and amazon to give me credit since I had problems with my first phones. If you know what you are doing and how to talk to people you can usually get around it.
My xperia U still have 8 months warranty. It's suddenly can't read the simcard so i send it to Sony Cares. After 1 week, they quote me SGD 300$ for this problem...wth with that money i can buy new phone alr. Before send it in i alr revert back to stock and re-lock the bootloader.
Recently sent my Xperia S in for repair (yellow tint) had the bootloader unlocked prior to sending it in. Forgot to relock it and got it back stating there was modified software and that they didn't fix it.
Got another RMA and this time relocked the bootloader and it was repaired. (Though this screen has a faint yellow tint issue as well though not as bad as the first one.)
With root just flash back yo stock and you are fine. If you unlocked the biitloader relock it and they might still fix it.

RED LED might indicate that your Battery has drowned. Charge it and try again.
It's your battery
Sent from my Xperia U using xda premium
No the red light is normal, always comes up when the charger/usb are first connected when phone is off.
@bibhu059, you change your story, in the other thread you said you have flashed another TA partition, maybe you explain exactly what you did.
And what happen when you try to connect with flash or fastboot modes?
Someone suggested to take the battery out, have you tried that?
As you wrote in your PM to me, you restored a TA backup from someone else's device. This hard-bricked your device, which you could have prevented when you read the FAQ first. Sorry but there is nothing anyone else can do for you at this point. Only option left is to send it to Sony - tell them it suddenly didn't turned on anymore - and hope for the best.
There is no recovery from a hard-brick.

Yes. But you just say your friend took your phone and you did not know what did he do with it. When he returned your phone, it was like that. My friend actually took a rooted s3 to a samsung service centre and they knew he rooted, said he found custom binaries. When questioned, he asked "whats that?"

Of course they can, makes no difference they can and should fix it anyway,
Losing warrenty does not mean you are not entitled for service, only that you may have to pay for it.

losing warranty entitles u to pay for services my friend.
i guess they have to replace entire motherboard... so they wont be able to tell whether bootloader was unlocked or not... coz under any circumstance...it won't switch on... unless hardware is replaced...

Have you tried following the steps in the second post here ?
Have tried putting tablet into flash mode but don't have any power whatsoever. No let's, no charge light. Is completely dead?
Ok, after no joy sorting tablet out, have rang sony support and the advice I received was to try everything I already tried. So was left with no option but to send tablet to sony repair centre... Will keep you posted on the outcome. Thanks to everyone who has given me advice
I've killed my SGP311 several times to the point where I couldn't get the slightest sign of life out of it. It's been a while so I forget the volume up/down/power combination when connecting to my PC to fix it with Emma. But I would sometimes spend 10-20 minutes trying to get any response before the PC recognized it. And some PCs just won't recognize it. I'm sure it must be possible to really mess it up but I had no idea what I was doing and flashed stuff in places where it had no business being flashed. It's like the movie scene where someone is doing CPR and they give up and then they punch the guy in the chest again and slap him and he wakes up. Don't give up.
Ok, we have a result. Tablet was sent to sony. I was worried how much it was gonna cost as warranty was void after unlocking bootloader. Turns out that the mother board had been fried. Sony offered me a replacement, but they didn't have the same sgp321 model in stock. I am now the proud owner of an xperia tablet z sgp321 lte. Don't know if I'm going to try n root it yet. Time will tell.......

[Q] z2 screen flickered and then dead screen

Very weird thing happened to my Z2 a couple minutes ago. I was in the bathroom playing clash of clans and was about to take a shower and left my phone in a place where it wont get wet. When i was supposed to check my phone i just noticed a dead screen. Then i turned it off via volume up and power. When i turned it it on the phone screen flickered as if it was about to lose power and screen also is not responsive.. I thought turning it off for a few minutes will bring the phone back to normal but it didn't.. My phone now will boot up to the xperia logo and screen will off.. i tried calling my phone and to my surprise the call feature is working.. Does anyone have any idea as to what may have happen? TIA

if the problem persists then contact sony customer support as your device should be covered by the 2 year warrenty that comes with all xperias
