Hi guys. Im new and i need help. I game a lot on my gs3 and usually overclock my device. One thing i noticed is that when i overclock to 1.6mhz to 1.7mhz, it would stay there for like 5 minutes, but then the device gets slow and when i check the frequency it be on 1.0 mhz. I'm using a gs3 i9300 tried both setcpu and no frills. Im on latest siyah kernel running stock samsung rom. Thank you very much. (did i do this post right, is this the right section?)

hii...this is something unusual....i had used hero before rooted and also overclocked it...and also used many android devices and also rooted all...but one of my hero device gets stuck after i use set cpu or overclock widget to clock the cpu....any help??
Try to overclock it lower
i did everything as soon as i open it and get back.....it hangsss
Hmn strange it may come from the kernel which may be overclocked to High for your hero..
What ROM are you using ?
cronos 2.1.2...but even on the shipped rooted rom it was the same man....
been using siyah kernel for long however lately on my S3 running the latest CM9 nightly...when loading siyah kernel...everything works fine even the overclock to 1800Mhz however anything above 1600 (ie 1704 or 1800) when i run a quadrant on the first step at 7 out of 8 screeen just goes blank and phone crashes..i have to remove battery and insert again and then when i boot things are fine..wht problem could it be..i checked tht 1.2.6 supports CWM and CM9 ROM's ...apart from benchmarks there is no other issue..everything runs smooth and fine...please help..wht kind of issue coould this be..??is anyone else getin this issue...a software isuue or hardware issue??
I had this on 1800mhZ. I had to upped the voltage on 1800 only (as everythng was undervolted a lot) and itg stopp[ed happening.
Might not work for you. Phone might just not be stable at 1800. Not all will be.
I only clock to 1704 anyway.
i overclocked from the performance settings...is there another way i can overclock like from recovery ..and when i overclock i set the clock speed ...how do i UP the voltage..sorry for a noob question
can you help me with this??plzz i would be very thankful

I resently had a huawei ascend p1 running ics, and it was atleast as fast as my galaxy s2 running jellybean. i have tried to overclock alittlebit with no big difference. and people say the phone might get hot and so on. The ascend p1 i had has original dualcore 1,5 ghz prossessor, and never went hot.Why cant the s2 run more 1,5 instead of 1,2 ghz without being hot or buggy? THANKS!

I read that some users oveclocked their SGS2 to 1,6 GHz.
But you need a kernel which supports such high oc and hope that your hardware is able to handle this CPU frquency too.
As I don't overclock my phone, you have to search a little bit on xda, SGS2 forum, original dev section for kernel and oc 1.6 GHz.
Good luck !

All devices are slightly different. Some might be able to be oc a lot, some can't be at all. All depends on the phone.
And why do you need to oc? 1.2 is enough to run smoothly for almost everything. Unless you are playing the newest games...

Have been using it at 1500ghz for a few days now,and the phone works smootly.. ive been running many tests like benchmark, browsermark and so on, and my phone even gets better result than the s3 when running at 1500ghz( witch i realy dont rely to). the batterylife is still as ****ty as before,so no big defference there. u ask why i want to overclock. i was hoping to get a faster phone by doing so,and i have a faster phone now. was just hoping it would bee a bigger difference. im running thunderbolt jellybean rom and overclocked at 1500 ghz, and works good and stable. just wounder if anybody knows if i should turn up the volts too, as i read some place thath higher ghz u also need higher volt. tried to turn up the volt but the phone froze. so ill be using it at standard volts and 1500ghz for now. works good dont think ill be changing this phone for a while,it works as god as any other phone out there.

I am pretty sure you can't get the SII processor overclocked to 1500 Ghz..

U can do so as long as the kernel supports OC(overclocking) or UV(undervolting) for sure

then u cant know to mutch i have clocked it as high as 1600ghz without heating or problems.. and if you cant do it then you will have to change your kernel. i use thunderbolt jellybean rom with dreamkernel and it works great. i have mine clocked at 1500ghz dayly use

I don't know much, but I do know enough to know that you can't have a stable overclock at 1600Ghz (Gigahertz)
But, I believe that 1600Mhz could be achieved as a stable overclock.
My cpu is running at 1500 mhz 1425-1500 mv and gpu at 520mhz 1300mv the heating issue acctually drops when at 1.5 ghz, my problem is there is no point of having my gpu so high when my cpu is not good enough
The CPU undervolting section of the CPU tab (global cpu voltage), does it actually work? Or should I use the CPU UV tab? Thanks! *running siyah kernel
The one under the CPU tab clearly says, "during boot time only." So, what do you think?
Lol, so you mad? Anyways it actually works, I asked because when I had my s2 undervolting showed as -100 but didn't actually work according to the developer and it was still a work in progress. Then when I tried undervolting on an actually working undervlt kernel to -100, it did a boot loop, just wanted to confirm if it actually works is all. I'm new to i9300 development , I'm coming from t989 development. I found out it works because after heavy gaming , -100 gave me a random reboot , going back to -75. Thanks for your....help? Haha

Hy guys,
I got a Samsung S2, and i tried some emulators like Mame4droid, FBA4droid, NeoDroid and the CPU keeps fluctuating between 1200 mhz and 800 mhz, which makes everything choppy and unplayable (the few seconds it stays at 1200 everything is perfectly smooth and then when it goes to 800 it's a slideshow, and then it all repeats). I rooted the phone and tried a couple of Cpu tools (Antutu, Tegrak) and i tried all governors i had in the tools and set both min and max CPU at 1200 but it still goes to 800. I use Cool Tool for monitoring. Is there any way to put the CPU in max (1200) mode?
Any ideeas?
Thanks a lot guys.

Have you tried installing a custom kernel or rom? What about using the performance governor? If you don't have this, install a custom kernel.
A better alternative is to use a custom kernel and set the up threshold to a lower number, that way the cpu frequencies will stop jumping.
Thank you for the reply. Can you recommend me a custom kernel that has the settings I need?
Thanks again!

What rom are you using? Are you using stock 4.1.2? If so, use apolo kernel 4.15b by pedestre and download the apolo configurator app to change the up threshold. A threshold of 50 or 60 should stop frequencies from jumping around. If you're using 4.4.4 rom, use dorimanx kernel and use stweaks to change up threshold.

If you have 4.1.2 sammy rom(or official stock) you can flash Apolo Kernel v4.15b over siyah
Ok guys, so i installed Apolo with configurator and i tried a few options and values and nothing changed. The second the CPU gets to 65 C, it goes from 1200 mhz (where everything is smooth) to 800 mhz (where everything is slow). After 5 seconds it goes back to 1200 and then it gets to 65 C again and so on...
What are the exact values or options i should be using..? What i need is for those 65 C to become something like 75 or 80 (or disable that thing altogether) so i can be sure i'm smooth all the way.
Thank you guys. I feel like i am one step away from optimising my experience :fingers-crossed:
