Yes there is. S-OFF your phone via rumrunner (just Google... you'll land at their site and follow the instructions there). Then have a look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50190792&postcount=47

I'm well stuck ! Is it possible to unbrick the phone in this state?

First of all, u cant flash jb recovery on ics hboot, u need to flash ics recovery which is here - http://d-h.st/eCC .
And download any ics Rom & ics kernel & flash it.
- ( Ics Recovery for ics hboot)
- ( Ics Rom for ics hboot)
- ( Ics kernel for ics hboot)
Then after all that ,view all the instructions & prerequisites required for S-off & start it.
(Most important one is disable all lockscreens)

Hi!
I've a big problem with my new Evo3D GSM!
After installing my first custom rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318942) the wifi goes in error, like some persons here. So, I would like to revert to officiel rom but I can't!
If I launch RUU with my phone is on Android, RUU can't launch bootloader (Error 155), and I try to put my phone into fastboot mode, then RUU begin but error 155 again during sending data :-/
Apparently, the image was wrong... but it's the official ruu, and I've already flash this before S-Off!!
Please help!!
This is what I've do on my phone : (at beginning, I've original rom, with update OTA and S-On)
- Install official ruu RUU_Shooter_U_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.2_Radio_10.53.90 20.00_10.13.9020.08_2M_release_203403_signed
- Unlock with htcdev.com
- Install CWM
- Install custom rom
How can I flash official rom again?
Thanks in advance!!
//Edit : Success!!!! Just need to relock the phone! lol... Maybe this post can be useful for someone... ^_^
Hello experts
I recently updated my unbranded evo 3D to official ICS , it has a lebanese sim card so im guessing its gsm not CDMA ?
I managed to unlock the bootloader thanks to htcdev(dot)com now its unlocked
My hboot version is 1.53.007 and i dont know how to root and i dont want to try the wire trick cz its so hard and i dont want to ruin my lovely EVO 3D htcdev said that i can install custom rom after unlocking the bootloader by installing the boot.img and installing the rom i dont know :/ can someone plz explain me how step by step
how to flash a rom to an unlocked with s on ics hboot 1.53.007 evo 3d ?
thanks in advance
You need to flash a custom recovery such as 4-ext (find it in EVO3d GSM dev section).
Once you have that, download any ICS-based ROM to your SD card and flash it via recovery menu. Then you will have root.
I m not sure if you can achieve root on the stock phone, using the superuser zip,but i hope i helped
Hi,
I'm intrested in too, but are you sure, that this is everything what he have to do, when he want to flashed new rom? Because I am in this situation too. I have unlocked my EVO via htcdev, S-ON and HBOOT 1.53.0007.
It would be great if someone has a more detailed tutorial how to do that.
Thanx and sorry for my bad english
plz we need an expert
i have managed to flash CWM using fastboot commands (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) but everytime i flash a custom i get stuck on the custom rom animation and when i flash the custom rom boot.img in fastboot the keeps restarting plzzz help mee:crying:
I have a CDMA HTC Unlock Guide in my signature that will explain the step by step. Keep in mind that you would need to use the correct GSM versions (shooterU) of the files, but the process is exactly the same.
- HTC unlock
- install custom "gsm" recovery via fastboot commands.
(fastboot flash recovery yourRecoveryFilename.img)
- boot/enter recovery via fastboot commands.
(fastboot boot yourRecoveryfilename.img)
- install current superuser & binaries zip(3.0.7) from recovery.
- reboot & you are rooted on stock Rom.
Note: you must enter recovery via the fastboot command prompt to avoid bootloop Issues with kernel (you can install 4ext Recovery as a workaround to this later). See the stickies in the gsm section for links or start with this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24054039
Sent from my "Up all night, Sleep all day" EVO3D!

Hi,
I am currently running mySENSE RC3 with HBOOT 1.24, TWRP 2.4.1.0, Baseband HTC_102.
I´d like to update to myONE, with new HBOOT and recovery. I was already reading lots of post but the problem is that there is too much information. Can someone give me a step by step how i can update HBOOT?
You should go back to stock and do the JB OTA update.
As your cid is HTC__102, you should have a JB update by now
Once you've done this, you can install any JB ROM or any ROM that you like

Ok thanks for that. So i have to follow this guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36138826&postcount=2
in short terms:
1) install stock recovery
2) lock bootloader
3) install RUU (i have no nand backup)
Is that correct? If yes my last question would be where can i get the RUU. I thin i need this one:
RUU_PROTO_U_ICS_40A_HTC_Europe_1.18.401.1_Radio_10 .21.40.06U_1.10.40.23_release_295191.exe
From here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2120792
Regards
Download your RUU RUU_PROTO_U_ICS_40A_HTC_Europe_1.18.401.1_Radio_10 .21.40.06U_1.10.40.23_release_295191.exe
(You can download the RUU here : http://androidfiles.org/ruu/?developer=Proto)
Steps :
1. Put your device in bootloader mode then relock the bootloader - fastboot oem lock
2. Still in bootloader mode - run the RUU, follow the instruction, next, next, update, update blablabla and let it finish and reboot then do the JB OTA.
No need reinstall stock recovery or boot.img or whatever before the above steps.
Note : After 1.18.401.1 there will be OTA 1.18.401.3 then only JB OTA
Working fine, thanks for your advice!
Reading so many bricked TF201 I dont want to make a mistake.
I just got my tablet second hand from craigslist.
I want to flash custom rom, probably Hairy Bean.
Can someone verify if the steps I need to follow are correct ?
1. install TWRP via Fastboot
2. install Upgrade Hairybean 4.2.1 Bootloader & Recovery.zip (using TWRP)
3. install Hair Bean Rom V2.2 (using TWRP)
For step 1:
I think I need to follow post # 2 on this thread ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827
NOTE** You MUST be on the JB 4.1.1 bootloader to be able to flash these files. DO NOT FLASH THESE ON THE 4.2.1 BOOTLOADER AS THEY CAN BRICK YOU
Download one of the files below for your install type (normal or data2sd)
Extract folder on PC and run the "HairyBean TWRP Recovery Flasher.bat" file.
Follow the on screen instructions.
Delete TWRP settings from sdcard and external sdcard. (/TWRP/.twrps and .version)

Questions:
Q1 what does it mean JB 4.1.1 bootloader ? how do I find out what boot loader I am on. I have stock JB 4.1.1, does that mean I am on the JB 4.1.1 bootloader ?
Q2. whats the difference between normal and data2sd TWRP ?
Q3 Do I need ADB SDK ?
Q4 how do I "Delete TWRP settings from sdcard and external sdcard" and what is that for ?
Another question. After I flash TWRP recovery.
on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827
post #1 it talks about installing the bootloader first before the rom
kinda confused, what does the "Upgrade Hairybean 4.2.1 Bootloader & Recovery.zip" do ? Isnt TWRP already the recovery ?
Another questiion. Do I need to unlock the bootloader in order to flash TWRP ?

You will need to install the bootloader and twrp package (they're together) let it reboot then install the ROM.

So if the bootloader and twrp package is together, do I still need to flash TWRP first via fastboot or is there a way to flash "Upgrade Hairybean 4.2.1 Bootloader & Recovery.zip" without installing TWRP first ?
very confusing instructions, normally I would do trial and error but since this tablet is easily bricked I would really want to make sure of the steps before I do anything. If someone can shed some light on the correct steps, it would be highly appreciated.
Basically I have a stock TF201 with stock jelly bean 4.1.1 that I would like to flash to Hairy Bean 2.2. If anyone can clarify the steps I would really appreciate it.

Flash TWRP 2.5.0.0 first in fastboot. Then run the upgrade zip in the TWRP you just flashed. Then you can install a 4.2 ROM

thanks for the help. So here are the final steps. I hope everything is correct:
1. go to asus website download the app to unlock bootloader
2. install TWRP 2.5.0.0 using fast boot
3. read post #1 on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827
4. download Upgrade Hairybean 4.2.1 Bootloader & Recovery.zip
5. download Hairybean 2.2.zip
6. follow the steps on post #1
I've done step 1 above and I now have an unlocked bootloader.
I am now currently downloading ADB Sdk is fastboot inside or do I need to look for fast boot somewhere ?

Correct.
You need to find the platform-tools folder in the SDK you downloaded. Then hold shift and right click somewhere in the folder and click 'open command window here'.
Nice thread !
I also want to flash my TF201.
Is there any issue in these steps with having NVFLASH or not having NVFLASH???

If you are still on ICS (4.0) android then you can do the NVFlash step. This will allow you to save your tablet info so that you can use it later to unbrick it.
If you are like majority of people who did over the air (OTA) upgrade to Jelly Bean (4.1.1) then you cant do the NVFlash step anymore and you wont be able to go back to an ICS version and do the NVFlash step.
I have Jelly Bean 4.1.1 so I cant do the NVFlash backup, which is why I am asking so many questions so that I dont brick my TF prime. (I already bricked one, this is my second one)
Did this work?did you manage to successfully put a custom rom onto it? am looking to put the Cyanogen Nightly on mine. just dont want to brick it....

I'm in the same boat. I bricked a tf201, sold it and purchased another on ebay. I don't want to brick another, but would really like an updated custom rom... I'm watching with interest..
Any update on this? Was it successful or did it brick?

Sure I will try it in the evening.
You can definitely Unlock it using the HTCDEV process , I have a done this. Any ways if you are able to flash a ROM then there is no reason to get it Unlocked, more over S-OFF gives you full control over the device but again it also increases the risk of getting your phone bricked so make sure you use it wisely (knowing what you flash) , so I will say why to beg HTC for some thing they have already provided.
One more thing S-OFF device means you dont need to flash boot.img separately so you dont need to use your PC to flash roms no more.
Waiting to know about your progress on flashing the ROM ..

I have now successfully flashed a Rom..initially I tried it without flashing the boot.img and it entered a boot loop.
Then I installed flashify and flashed boot.img that came with the Rom. Then the Rom is working now.
The boot loader is still locked. Has twrp .

so you mean to say you failed to install the boot.img from the custom recovery ? well that is weird, one more thing since you were in boot loop how did you manage to install flashiffy !
if you may please include the complete flashing steps , will be helpful for my experiments.

Initially I flashed the Rom alone and it went into bootloop and all buttons became unresponsive .so I waited till the battery ran out and the phone switched off. Then I recharged , entered recovery by vol down + power button.. I had the backup there . So I restored back up.. then phone rebooted normally.. and I flashed boot.img by flashify just because I didn't know any other method... Then from recovery I wiped dalvik cache and system .. flashed the new Rom.. reeboot and fine..
Feel free to ask for any more clarification..
