Any update to this? I can't beliieve this is the only thread about this issue online. I have a black C105 unlocked from the UK purchased off ebay and being used with T-Mobile here in CA. It might be helpful if everyone state these details to help narrow down the issues or suspects. Just purchased this phone and this is a NO-GO if other apps can cause a simple issue like this to become a BIG issue. I had skype also and just uninstalled it. Before I wait any longer, what were your results?

i checked recently updated apps.. in market.. and that was the only app that was accessing the camera.. i think u should do a check on all apps that access your camera. and uninstall. one by one. Pierre
I have had this issue,I uninstalled Skype and now the camera is okay and does not open randomly.
yes guys, its SKYPE - lens opens when you connect to wifi or internet, because then SKYPE automatically login you, turns on, and acces camera - thats the reason why opens itself uninstall SKYPE or leave it that way... only solution is some update from skype, but i dont think its possible (skype is checking accesibility of cameras when turns on, but on our zoom it opens it)
THANKS!

Glad i found this thread, uninstalled SKYPE and no more lens popping out. Previously i thought it was because of a change in connection between wifi and hsdpa. :good:
No wonder i could not find the problem or apps that cause this issue, because skype is not even in the running processes or background processes.
Skype Android App
This error where the SGS4 Zoom lens randomly opens (and opens on startup aswell) can be traced in Xprivacy to the "configuration" method found under the "phone" heading for Skype.
Are there any other apps that cause this error? A list of avoidable apps would be useful for SGS4 Zoom owners.
Sometimes some apps trigger camera to open, we can control their functions of triggering by using xposed modules.
It's very hard to make out the list as their might be lots of such apps.

Viber android app
Viber is now also causing this problem.
You can fix it either by uninstalling viber or by rooting your phone and installing Xprivacy.
The method call that is making this happen is called "loadLibrary" and can be found under the Shell heading in Xprivacy, but viber stops functioning when the method is disabled so a full viber uninstall seems like the only proper solution.
Just a thought.
Would if someone is trying to tap into our devices and that's why the camera keeps popping out because someone is trying to watch us or something... Because I never downloaded Skype on my device and it never had it.

Does Skype recognize an internal microphone?
I've heard there is a problem:
"I had no problem installing the Skype app or logging into my account. But the app wouldn’t recognize the NOOK Tablet’s Microphone, which means it’s impossible to make voice calls. You can only use Skype as an instant messenger app on the NOOK Tablet."

I've got the latest Skype running but it has issues. It can send IM's without issue but voice phonecalls are buggy. When making an outgoing call to someone on a contact list the call is established but then drops immediately, and then an incoming call from the person you rang suddenly appears even though they didn't call you. For a while I had it answer a call and apparently seem to maintain it but on the Nook I couldn't hear the remote party - Skype seemed to be confused with the nofification volume and the media volume. When the notification volume was all the way down it muted the incoming sound completely. When the notification volume was up, that's when I couldn't get it to maintain a call. Very weird. Not really usable.
That was my experience anyway, would be interested in seeing what other people find with various versions.
Can you check which version of skype you are using so I can try it. The latest doesn't seem to recognize the microphone.

OK, so I thought I'd try this again and its a no go?! I had tested it initially with my wife's computer and she answered the call etc. Now it also drops calls as soon as picked up. My version is a "raider" version for this forum somewhere and not the lastest but a link for ppl having issues. Non the less, it's not working now
Which apk?
The android market says it is incompatible. I got an apk on the net, but it insisted on a mobile phone number.
It looks good, signs in and calls out but drops the call after about two rings. Does Skype need gps? I was thinking that if we could get a gps spoof running that might do it.
I was calling a landline which I had control of and it even rang so I'm close. I can tether to the gps on my phone but that defeats the purpose. I suppose I could do that to see if it's what skype wants.
actual apk

Wasn't sure I had it still - I have "com.skype.raider2-1.2.apk" in my downloads.
I've reinstalled it and it is acting the same as what i had installed.
Sorry I didn't keep more detail, but because it seemed to work, I didn't think much of it. I imagine now that I've done lots of other downloads, mods etc, something must of messed it up.
The most major one since then would have be the multi keyboard stuff. Either that or it was just a fluke that it worked. My wife is my participating witness tho
---------- Post added at 07:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:25 AM ----------
OK, a little more digging reveals two files. The raider2 one mentioned above and one named "Skype_2.0.0.47_v06.apk".
I tried to attach them but they are both over 9megs and the limit is 8M.
Having a gps signal didn't help. My theory was that Skype needed a location so that it billed properly.
Currently calls drop after two rings (which make it to the line being called) and advanced settings cause a force close.
It's too bad. being able to make the occasional call would really make this an even better vacation device for out of your home country.
---------- Post added at 09:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:23 AM ----------
A little bit of progress. The apk from this post rings the other number until connection then drops. Advanced settings still FC.

If you are asking for the Skype version, it's 2.6.501.97. If you need the apk file number.... uh, I'm still pretty new to android and even tho I can build and hack a pc, I'm having trouble naving my NT. I'm still looking for the file and I'll post it when I stumble over it.
Okay, I give up. How do I sent a chat message to someone? I can't find anywhere in Skype that has that option. Whenever I click on a contact, I only have the option to call them.
Anyone have any updates on this?
I was wondering if they figured something out on the CM7 beta testing, but haven't found info related to skype/google calls.

Go to settings, scroll down to accounts, tap on whatsapp. There you can turn off contacts synchronization, which is causing the wakelocks.
It will not interfere with your messages as this only sycs your contacts.
Do check once in a while if it stays of as with me it sometimes turns on automatically

I've had this since updating Whatsapp+ to v3.9D. Going back to 3.85D for now...
The issue is still there with the latest whatsapp update (2.10.768).
Also the workaround doesnt work for me anymore (disabeling the contact sync) even with the sync turned off, whatsapp went syncing overnight with my screen off(?!) It didn't turned sync on, but it went in "full sync" wakelock anyway...
I send an email to the whatsapp developers. I think (and hope) more people did this already, if this issue won't be resolved i will remove whatsapp messenger. This issue is just damn irritating and very bad for battery life (short and long term).

I'm experiencing this as well. I disabled contacts sync but the problem is that it turns itself back on.
Also have to say that i'm on a LG Nexus 4. Maybe i'm wrong, but it looks like LG & Samsung (Nexus models) phones on Android 4.2.2 are the only ones with this issue. In the Whatsapp messenger comments at google play this problem/bug is not mentioned either.
Don't know if you already found this out, but trowing it into the open anyways. Using 4.2.2 for only two weeks now, coming of 2.3.5.
Today i found out that there is another (hidden) "sync" option to be found via the google agenda/calender. Go to settings -> choose your google/gmail account -> Accounts and synchronisation. there is another option listed above the accounts i could't find earlier "Appdata/information aut.." (i think that stands for "Automatically synchronise app data").
Turning this off will mean none of your accounts will sync automatically anymore. I will check if this (temporarly) works overnight and report on that.
I'm thinking charging the device enables the bug. I'm thinking this because i looked at my phone over the rest of the day (wakelock detector) and the issue didn't occur.

Not true. I'm experiencing this issue on my S3 with a TouchWiz 4.1.2 ROM.
I have the same problem now on my HTC One running Android 4.2.2 and the current whatsapp+ version (Base Whatsapp 2.10.750)
Good news from my side.
With the app sync unticked via the google calendar the problem did not occur overnight after charging.
This temp fix looks like it's working for now.

where did you find whatsapp in google calandar? can you explain that a little? thanks
Just follow the steps i explained.
You will see a list of all your accounts. Whatsapp should be in that list. On the top of that list untick the app sync.
Note that my way works on a LG Nexus 4, you use a HTC. This has a layer over android that may have a different way to change settings.
Just look for your "auto sync" settings and put that off in general. This workaround seems to work for me.
EDIT: Unhappy to report that the problem came back right after charging my phone.

YES! Annoying as hell!
I had this same problem after installing an app that, I think, was written for the Gear 2, and quickly (sloppy) patched to work with the S..
I did most everything I could to get the error to stop, but once the issue starts...that's it...the remedy is within the currently inaccessible system files.
In the end, I had to do a full reset AND setup. And, FYI, I was unable to use the restore function from any of the previous backups (this only replicated the error).

It seems that there is a number of applications that can trigger it. I do not know enough to spot what they have in common but I found another culprit: Appy Geek for Gear. Keep it installed you face the problem in one of its notifications. Uninstall it, the problem is gone.
It also seems that until you find which app gives you the problem, there is a way to avoid it: Turn Notifications off from the Android Gear Management app.
I don't have any of those apps and I had the device do that to me as well. I rebooted the Gear and the issue continued, but once I cleared all 50 of my notifications, I haven't had that problem.

Was able to clear notifications and that seemed to resolve it. The timing was every 2-3 days for me and then the lock up would start. I have minimized notifications to only the most critical ones (which makes sense). So far so good.

Actually, as somebody else said it is because of the notifications. The apps don't really do anything to the watch unless they're running and they crash your phone. I would've assumed that notifications would clear from the watch once they were cleared from the phone but they just accumulate over time. The problem seems to be that each new notification adds another page to the homescreen to the left. Just clear your notifications every once in a while and it will stop freezing up, it did with me.
I have a Verizon LG G3 running stock/rooted 4.4.2.
Today, for the 2nd time, I started receiving the unfortunately, the android.process.acore has stopped error It pretty much just constantly pops up, non stop.
Last time a few months back, I fixed it with a factory reset (annoying).
Today, it started again. I tried clearing contacts and contacts storage and google service framework, but none of that helped.
Wound up doing another factory reset.
This time, it was working fine until I added an exchange account to sync calendar and email and then I started getting the error again. I don't think that was the trigger though because of what else I figured out.
It appears as if I uninstall facebook, the error goes away. I tried uninstalling facebook, clearing contacts and contacts storage and then reinstalling, but it starts again once it gets reinstalled.
I've done this back and forth enough times now that it's clearly being caused by the facebook install. It starts as soon as I log into facebook after I install it.
I guess at least it's nice to know I can uninstall facebook and I'm good, but I want to use the facebook app still.
So now what?

For the past week or two, I've been having an issue with the menu/back button on the top left portion of my screen. The problem is that when I press the button on the screen, it does absolutely nothing. It happens with several different apps such as email, Facebook, chrome, gallery, etc. No matter how hard I push on the screen, the button does absolutely nothing and it is driving me crazy. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I should also add that this happens both in portrait mode and landscape.

It happens with several different apps such as email, Facebook, chrome, gallery, etc. No matter how hard I push on the screen, the button does absolutely nothing and it is driving me crazy. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I should also add that this happens both in portrait mode and landscape.

There have been lots of posts/threads on this! Seems to be Facebook Messenger causing the issue..
+1 on seeing that it has been reported to be caused by the Facebook messenger app. Mine doesn't have a problem so it's apparently an issue with one version.
People have been successful fixing it by uninstalling updates to the app or uninstalling the app all together.
Hoping for a fix from Facebook. I'm glad mine doesn't have this problem!

Thank you guys for your input. I will try to uninstall Facebook Messenger to an older version and see what happens.

YUP! I have the same issues. Just went to tmobile and because I am past the 14 days I was told to contact LG and see about a fix. The only temporary fix is to shut off the phone take out the battery for 30 seconds and then restart the phone. It fixes the menu/back button briefly. I end up doing this 3 -4 times a day.

My LG V10 shows that I can't uninstall because it is a built-in app. I did clear cache and the menu/back button is now working. Let's see if that is a permanent fix for me.

And if you need to use FB Messenger, you may try uninstalling updates to the app and turning off automatic updates to the app in the Play Store.... maybe the version that shipped with the phone doesn't have the bug. Also, others have mentioned alternative messengers apps for messaging thru FB.
