[QUOTE="pingpongboss, post: 26904549, member: 2484344"]StandOut is an open source library that anyone can use to create their own floating apps.
Introduction
Instructions
Make sure the requirements are installed: You need Android SDK API level 7 and the Eclipse ADT plugin http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/installing-adt.html
Download the library: git clone my repo, or download as zip at https://github.com/pingpongboss/StandOut/archive/master.zip and unarchive
Import the folder (created from the previous step) into Eclipse: http://stackoverflow.com/a/5450375/450396. This will create 2 projects in Eclipse for you.
To start, open the StandOutExample project (created from the previous step). Edit MultiWindow.java and replace the contents of createAndAttachView(int id, FrameLayout frame) with your own views.
Run the StandOutExample project to see your own floating windows on your phone or emulator.
Functionality
Provide your own view. Very easy to integrate
Window decorators (titlebar, minimize/close buttons, border, resize handle)
Windows are moveable and resizable. You can bring-to-front, minimize, and close
Minimized windows can be restored (the example APK demos this using the notification panel)
Create multiple types of windows, and multiple windows of each type
Continuously being developed. More coming.
Let me know what you think, and whether you think this could be useful.

Hi fellow developers,
Skinery Tiles Pro is an app that lets you apply custom themes on your windows phone. Currently, Skinery supports over 50 apps and it can even support live tile apps. Skinery needs more apps to be truly usable and I would like to seek the support of the developer community by integrating your app with Skinery. Pretty nice
I couldn't use it because a lot of tiles I have are not in the database. It is a really nice concept an I can only see it getting better.
Sorry, but this would be a nightmare for developers.
Even though I like it from a user point of view.

Hmm. Can you elaborate why is it a nightmare?
Live tiles are already a nightmare as MS brings more accent colors to the mix. You need to find colors that would look nice on all 20 (you are left with either white or black). If you make tiles shift colors like that, then they lose a lot of their usability, because info displayed on them will not be readable anymore under all circumstances, and developers can;t do squat about it.
This is why most apps don't use a live tile or if they do, they do not use dynamic backgrounds, which kinda nullify your theme as colors will be hard coded.
If your app has a live tile with a transparent background, meaning you are using the theme colour, you will be using white colour for your live tile info. I think this is pretty standard and every app is doing this. I dont think app developer skip the live tile due to trying to cater to theme colours, but rather they have no meaningful info to show. As long as you are using the standard white colour, you have nothing to worry about readability. The users will ensure the custom theme they use will allow them to read the live tile.
Just an update.
New Skinery update has been released
- Added Viber, Wikipedia, Social Scout, Facebook JDB, Alarms, Basic Calculator, Accounts, Location and Lockscreen apps.
More apps are coming online every week so do not get left out! Contact us to get your app integrated: [email protected]
They can always using a flip tile to chow info even with hard coded stuff.
The fact is, live tiles are a bit of a challenge for developers and many (trust me i am a developer myself) choose to skip this because it is way too tiresome for them. Take for instance CNN: it doesn't have a live tile when it has quite a lot of meaningful info to show.
I love the idea cause in IMO the start screen really sucks as far as looks go. It need a settings menu though for more options like deleting and whatnot. Not that in a Dev or anything. Nice app though.
Amazing app!

Once you are done, tap on the share button to show off your creation to the Windows Phone community!

Team Black Out is made up of some of the best of the best in the industry when it comes to making Blacked Out Apps and Transparent Apps. We decided to team up and release the largest list of Blacked Out Apps available and add to it as often as possible. Our goal is to offer an ongoing list of apps that are updated as soon as possible after the stock app updates by letting just 1 person update it rather than 3-10 of us doing our own thing and ultimately ending up with the same end result.. an Inverted app. So, by doing this, we will be able to branch out and get the list to over 100 apps in time! Many of us have been doing this for over 3 years and some have just began their journey to the Dark Side but we are a team and will work together like a team. The veterans will help train the new-comers how to start from scratch and fully Black Out an app by editing xml lines, drawable images and smali classes files. On the site, we have guides available and will add more of them in time. We announce the Team over a month ago and now the day is here!

T-BOTs are the Team Black Out Testers. When we update an app or start a new one from scratch, we can put anywhere from 20 minutes to 10 hours into 1 app for all of you and then testing that app can take 10-60 minutes and we don't use every app we Black Out so we're bound to miss some hidden things. Well, this is where our Loyal T-BOTs come into play. Once we update an app they get busy looking for issues for us. This gives us more time to be able to update more apps, start new apps or just have some non-android fun. So make sure you thank the T-BOTs when you get blown away from how amazing these apps are!
Obviously this style is the most popular. We don't theme our apps with images but rather Invert the Colors so you'll;ll have Dark backgrounds and Light texts. This is very popular and has become something that many avid Android users have come to thoroughly enjoy this look so we will do our best to give you more of what you love!
Transparent apps have become more popular the last year or so and some members of the Team have been offering them for a while now. Our transparent series of app are called Clear Apps. Being able to see your wallpaper while you';re using your favorite apps is just cool! We still have to update the site with all of our Clear Apps...
Ok kids... click on "Welcome to the Dark Side" at the top and it will take you to our official Team Black Out website! All downloads are hosted there only to keep track of everything. If you've used any of our apps in the past in your Aroma installers or in your ROM, you can still use them. Link back to our SITE wherever you post our content tho. Do not post something in a different forum using our work and then PM us to let us know and hope it's ok with us.... It isn't. Ask first and we'll work with you but ask for forgiveness and we have a problem.

The new app is fantastic! What a great idea & service. I have 2 users on my device & have had trouble running any regular themes. (UI would F/C when the user was switched over). I was forced to run stock "vanilla" look & hated it. Not anymore thanks to you guys and along with the black UI AOKP provides!
I just have to thank you all. Your new app is now one of my must-have favorites. Also, for the first time I just used it to DL & install your new Holo PlayStore. Went perfect & the app even auto flashed it. Great touch! I'm still like... WOW!
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2
I would also thank the many members who create the blackout alternative apps. I have converted to blackout for every app I use. That being said the one app that keeps getting replaced is Google+. After I flash it I do get the blackout version but when I reboot the next time it gets overwritten with the latest from the playstore.
I am on rooted stock 4.2.2 and Google+ 4.0.1.47928040 on both the playstore version and the BlackGPlus.zip downloaded using the TeamBlackoutUpdater.
I uninstalled Google+ which on stock reverts to an older version then used ES File Explorer mounting /system in RW mode to delete the /system/GooglePlus.apk then boot to recovery and flash the blackout version. As stated previously the resulting Google+ is blackout themed but does not stay that way after the next reboot. Ther is notifications that Google+ was updated from the playstore which is likely where the reversion occurs. In fact I get this notification on every reboot whether I flashed Google+ or not.
Any suggestions would be welcome. This is the only blackout app I have this problem including other stock apps like the playstore which also revert back to an earlier version when uninstalled.

Finally fixed this issue by using ES File Explorer's uninstall system app feature. Apprently there is a second file besides GooglePlus.apk that needed to be removed. The forementioned feature found and removed that file.
After re-flashing the blackout version and then rebooting/testing/rebooting a few times the blackout version is no longer being replaced via the playstore.
This post may be of interest to Blacked out app fans:
[HOW-TO] Blacked out theme effect for Web pages (needs root)
In the post is described an method of enhancing Blacked out apps that display HTML pages. For example the Flipboard Blacked out app has a Blacked out theme but as soon as you display a detailed article they appear with white backgrounds and black text. Following the instructions in the link above will, in most cases, extend the Blacked out theme effect for most Flipboard news feeds in the application itself and completely when viewed in a native browser.
Clear Instagram in testing thanks to Sarck our newest member!
We are getting bombarded with updates and have a designated group reporting them to us...some updates might take some time getting to because of the original dev doing a total reconstruction of their ui thus causing then to do bug fix updates. Google maps for instance...they are releasing bug fix updates so we will wait on some of the new updates before we invert them. Just have to be patient and either deal with the stock look or like me wait until we update. We appreciate the help on reporting updates but we have it covered...thanks guys!

PrecieUX: Opulence is a one-click-applicable home screen decoration pack for BuzzLauncher users. Even if you have never used BuzzLauncher before, you can easily apply this beautiful home screen on your own device (whichever phone it may be) with a few clicks. If you do find it appealing, how-to-apply procedures are prepared for you at the bottom of this post.
Before moving on, please watch the teaser video I've prepared for you. I took time and care producing this video, so please watch in HD!
As the video read, certain privileges are available to only a number of special people. . . people like you. Opulence will bring the luxurious life-style that you deserve to your phone.
Ground up photoshopped matching pixel-to-pixel accuracy, tile-icons boast elegant details in even the phones with the highest resolution available in market today: Full HD (1920 x 1080). Designed and developed using Samsung's flagship Galaxy S4, Opulence is compatible with devices with other resolutions such as but not limited to HD (1280 x 720) or WVGA (800 x 480). Do not worry whether Opulence is going to look the same on your phone, because BuzzLauncher will automatically adjust layout and size of icons for your phone, whichever screen-size or resolution it may have.
Opulence is composed of 3 tabs: Main, Media and RSS. When you're in each of the three tabs, bottom of the tab you're in will glow to indicate the tab you're in. To switch to a certain tab, simply touch the tab you wish to switch to. Switching tab-to-tab is simply gorgeous: it feels like turning on a light-bulb by pressing on it.
The first tab of Opulence is "Main". Graceful widgets intuitively deliver to you information regarding date, time, your schedule, location and the weather. It has never been easier to see the important information so conveniently and so tastefully. Bottom third of the screen has short-cuts to the most necessary functions of your smartphone: downloading new applications, contacting your friends through social network services (folder containing short-cuts to different apps) and using your telephony services. The bottom dock is constant in all 3 tabs. Left tells you the percentage of battery you have left, and right tells you the time. Pressing the "Apps" icon will summon your phone's app-drawer that has all of your applications.
The second tab is your playground. It is worth a lot to live up to tight schedules, but sometimes you should enjoy good music or watch sensational movies. A big album-art of the album you're listening to decorates your second tab, so this tab will be automatically personalised to you individually according to the music you prefer. Without having to leave your home-screen, you can control your music player using the stylish control-icons already prepared for you. The Internet icon connects you to Google Chrome (but the short-cut can be directed to another application if you prefer another browser), and the Multimedia icon is a folder that contains apps most frequently used when listening to music or viewing your pictures and videos.
The third tab, as its name implies, has a gigantic RSS reader widget. Just pull out your phone from your pocket and unlock; the information you want to read will be updated and ready for you. (Press the bottom right corner of the RSS widget to add/remove RSS feeds). If the website you like does not support RSS, you can also choose to make bookmarks to your favorite websites and store them in the Bookmarks folder on the same screen.
To have PrecieUX: Opulence as your home-screen, please follow these steps:

Hey guys, I will be compiling a list for Material Design based apps...With the new Android L coming out soon, many app developers have been updating their apps so they reflect the new Google Material Design Guidelines.
Q. What is Material?
Material is about layering information and presenting and interacting with that information in a predictable way. Android now ships with inbuilt support for Touch feedback, transitions, and viewstate changes. A design that based on the concept of paper and ink.
Goals - Create a visual language that synthesizes classic principles of good design with the innovation and possibility of technology and science. Develop a single underlying system that allows for a unified experience across platforms and device sizes. Mobile precepts are fundamental, but touch, voice, mouse, and keyboard are all first-class input methods.
Principles:
Material is the metaphor. A material metaphor is the unifying theory of a rationalized space and a system of motion. The material is grounded in tactile reality, inspired by the study of paper and ink, yet technologically advanced and open to imagination and magic.Surfaces and edges of the material provide visual cues that are grounded in reality. The use of familiar tactile attributes helps users quickly understand affordances. Yet the flexibility of the material creates new affordances that supersede those in the physical world, without breaking the rules of physics. The fundamentals of light, surface, and movement are key to conveying how objects move, interact, and exist in space in relation to each other. Realistic lighting shows seams, divides space, and indicates moving parts.
Bold, graphic, intentional. The foundational elements of print-based design—typography, grids, space, scale, color, and use of imagery—guide visual treatments. These elements do far more than please the eye; they create hierarchy, meaning, and focus. Deliberate color choices, edge-to-edge imagery, large-scale typography, and intentional white space create a bold and graphic interface that immerses the user in the experience. An emphasis on user actions makes core functionality immediately apparent and provides waypoints for the user.
Motion provides meaning. Motion respects and reinforces the user as the prime mover. Primary user actions are inflection points that initiate motion, transforming the whole design. All action takes place in a single environment. Objects are presented to the user without breaking the continuity of experience even as they transform and reorganize. Motion is meaningful and appropriate, serving to focus attention and maintain continuity. Feedback is subtle yet clear. Transitions are efficient yet coherent.

Designed to inspire more interactions by bringing users a convenient tap-to-use solution, Quick Apps offer the same experience as native apps but require much less memory space
Remember the time when you had to download an app just to use it that one time to try out the new pizza place in your neighbourhood, before realising that it was a disappointing experience? Or when you had to wait a long time for an app to be updated before you can enjoy new functions that your friends are already using? How about when you were made to download an app which you’d only use once a month to pay for your mobile phone credits, or worse, not sure when you would use the app again because you were on an extended year-end vacation and had to top up credits for data roaming?
With Huawei Quick Apps, you can say goodbye to those notifications that pop up to remind you to delete certain apps because you haven’t used them for months. The raison d'être for Huawei Quick Apps – bring an unprecedented level of convenience, yet at the same time address the diverse needs of Huawei device users in the 5G era.
So what are Quick Apps?

In short, they are apps you can use on-the-fly; no installation needed. With Quick Apps, Huawei users worldwide can enjoy the smooth interaction and beautiful interfaces of the native app experience without having to download these apps.
Not only does it save you from busting your data roaming allowance trying to download a local taxi booking app while on vacation, Quick Apps also save the memory space on your Huawei smartphone.
Written with only 1/5 amount of codes as compared to that of native apps, you can accommodate more than 2,000 Quick Apps with just 1GB of space. What’s more, because of how lightweight Quick Apps are, they are more responsive, and they are automatically updated, offering an excellent Huawei experience that’s second to none.
How to access Quick Apps?
There are several ways you can choose to access available Quick Apps. The best way is to add Quick App Centre to the home screen of your Huawei smartphone and directly activate it with a single touch going forward.
Go to “AppGallery” on your home screen.
In the search box at the top of the screen, type “Quick App Centre”, then click “Open”.
On the top right-hand corner of the Quick App Centre screen, you’d see a “Settings” icon. Click on that icon.
Select the option “Add to home screen”. You’ll see a pop-up notification which says, “Shortcut for Quick App Centre created on your home screen”. Voila!
Alternatively, you can open AppGallery and search for “Quick App Centre”. Once you do that, you can then search for the Quick App you want. After using the Quick App, you can even choose to leave it as a desktop icon on the main screen of your Huawei smartphone for added convenience.
What Quick Apps are available?
As of January 2020, there are over 1,700 quick apps available on-shelf worldwide. These Quick Apps are by no means inferior in any shape or form as compared to native apps; they support all HTML5 apps and HTML5 games, covering 90% of apps and games categories.
