[Q] i9300 Brick phone - Uninstalling Miui to Stock Firmware - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a Samsung i9300 with Miui V5 up to date and I was trying to go back to stock firmware.
To do this, I downloaded a stock firmware (I9300XXUGMK7) and flashed it through ODIN. All the flashing process went without problems but when the device rebooted it was stuck at the Samsung Logo. I waited around 10 min but it was completely stuck. I tried rebooting and then again was stuck. I believe it was a problem with the flashing process so I tried it again with a new stock firmwares but I got always stuck at the logo.
The device enters both download mode and recovery mode (android 3e - stock recovery i believe, although it shows the android laying down with an exclamation point).
I already tried several stock firmware and yesterday I also tried flashing through ODIN with PIT File and Re-partioning but I always got the same issue.
Is it another way to move from miui to stock that I am not aware? Is there any solution for this problem?
Help Please.
Thanks a Lot

Pit and repartion then you may well have destroyed the partitions on the memory .
Who ever told you to use pit files and repartition should buy you a new motherboard .
Are their any error messages in odin ??

Hi JJEgan,
I used the Pit file as last option because I already tried several regular flashes through ODIN. No error messages during the flashing process in ODIN. The flashing process always goes apparently well until it reboots and stucks at Samsung logo.

Have you tried factory reset wipe data in recovery?

[Q] Brick? Sudden Death? My ideas are going out

Hey guys!
I think i could use some help on handling my GT I9300
I was on Paranoid Android 3.15 and flashed miuiandroid_m0_jb-3.4.12
It worked for me for about 40 hours- no problems at all.
While i was setting up my phone and reinstalling my apps clockworkmod told me that there is an update. I could update to a version that i already installed a couple of days ago but somehow the app showed me i am running on an older version. After trying to update clockworkmod it told me that an error occured while updating.
Didnt take care of it because i went to bed and wanted to continue later this evening.
Some hours ago (i already used my phone as usual) my phone restartet and stuck on the samsung logo.
When i plug in the charger no led turns on. Sometimes the Samsung logo changes to the charging animation but it seems that the animation is frozen.
I cannot enter recovery mode only download mode.
What i have tried till now was:
trying to flash a stock rom with odin 3.7- Odin told me something like there was no pit file found.
trying to flash an odin flashable cutom rom- some error as above.
trying to flash a 3 parted rom with pit file- odin was stuck on "Get PIT for mapping" and nothing happened for about 60 minutes.
I have uses both GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit and GT-I9300_mx_20120329.pit

Oh i almost forgot.
in Odin mode my description is:

Thanks in advance!
You could try flashing CF-root with odin and see if that works. If it does you should have access to recovery.

Oh i sorry. forgot to write down that i already tried this aswell-but without .pit file. That was one of my first ideas because i wanted to avoid repartitioning.
Same error in odin- no pit found.
Should i try to just flash cf root with the .pit file? or would this cause even more damage?

i dont know if this will work , but you could try it , try flashing resurrection rom from the checkrom website through odin in download mode

Is it possible to flash only recovery image with Odin? I've been doing that with Mobile Odin, so I guess it might be possible with Odin as well?

This was the custom rom i mentioned above. Have forgotten the name so i only wrote via odin flashable custom rom. Same issue there "there is no PIT Partition"
The "best" result untill now was trying to flash a 3 parted rom with PIT but odin seems to freeze on getting pit. Or at least nothing happened after an hour
Usual is wrong PIT for your phone or PIT partition damaged .
Take it to a service centre .

I went to my provider today and gave it back to send it to service. I don't seem to be the first one who gave the phone back with the same issues. Usually it takes about one or two weeks till they have checked the phone and decide if the repair or replace the phone. Today the nice lady in the shop told me that they will send it back on monday and a replacement will arrive on monday aswell.
Thanks anyways

[Q] S3 stuck in boot loop

Hi there,
I have a samsung galaxy s3 i9300 which I have cyanogen mod 10.1. I woke up one morning and it was stuck in a boot loop.
So I downloaded the latest update and gapps and stuck them on my sd card, booted into clockwork recovery. I wiped the user data, cache and dalvik and installed the latest cm and gapps and it's still boot looping.
Can anyone help? I have no money to buy a new phone...
I think the best option would be back to stock ROM
Or it's just a sudden death syndrome..
Factory reset and flash an official stock rom via odin, if you can still boot into recovery then you might have just a corrupt system partition (it happened to me once and a nandroid restore fixed it).

I'm using heimdall as I use kubuntu on my laptop.
I'm having the hardest time finding an md5 file that has the right files in it to use with heimdall. Technology hates me...
Had the same problem today!
Already told here what happened, going to quote:
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 Gt I9300 16Gb for about a month and so far always worked without problems, and today, from one moment to another, I listen the phone to restart and when I look at the display was the boot image, just say "Samsung Galaxy S3 Gt I9300" and is flashing at intervals of 3 or 5 seconds without passing that boot image, just taking off the battery that it switches off. I'm desperate because I don't know why he had been so, or how to resolve the situation !
So I entered in ODIN MODE and pressed ''continue''
After that it appears on top left in tiny words the following:
Odin mode
Product name: GT-I9300
Custom Binary Download: Yes (6 counts)
current binary: Samsung official
system status: official
And appears in the middle the android logo and below ''Downloading... Do not turn off target!!''
EDIT: when I left the download mode by long-pressing the power button, before he tried to boot again appeared in the middle of the screen a grey battery with a grey circle inside, what is that mean?
I found a tumblr post with a tutorial for heimdall. It won't let me post links, so I'll have to put in spaces.
h ttp: // wildabdat.tumblr. com / post / 13450595781 / flashing -androidk- rom-on-l inux-wi th-no-odin-stoc
I've not been having much luck with it though, I keep getting : "Setting up interface failed!" and "Failed to initialize protocol!"
May work for you though.
Find a Windows pc and use odin to flash the latest rom for your country at sammobile. After that boot into recovery and factory reset.

that answer was for me or for the user Chibi ?
Chibi. You asked what the battery icon means. It means your phone is off but accepting power via usb
You should try factory reset

All the process was ok but when the phone reboots doesn't pass from the boot loop, stays in there and if I try to reset start do blink again.. help please
(can't enter in the recovery to wipe, only in download mode)

what can I do to resolve the problem?
If it is corrupted, you can only save it with a backup otherwise its a service centre repair.
You should try and flash recovery via odin though, see if you can access. Probably not much else you can do.

Restore the EFS you backed up .
Or its a service centre repair .

Tried flash via Odin and after the re-boot it stays with the same boot loop
Repeat its a service centre repair .

ok thanks.. It's in warranty, but, do I have to present the buying receipt ? Because I don't have it
But this is ridiculous, I spend a lot of money on a phone and 20 days later just bricks from nothing
it's exactly this that's happening on my phone:

So after some attempts to flash a stock ROM via ODIN, my phone wasn't being recognised by it, so I couldn't get it working even after installing drivers for my phone.
I don't have the $300+ to pay for a service repair centre to fix it, so I'm going to attempt to replace the mainboard myself.
My little S3 is dead to the world at the moment.

[Q] Galaxy s3 stuck write NAND

Hello
I was trying to flash an stock ROM in my i9300 when it got stucked and i bricked my phone.
Now when i try to flash a rom or a kernel odin gets stuck at "NAND Write Start". I tried to flash a PIT first with only repartition checked and them flash a kernel with the pit and auto boot and F reset chechek (saw this mehtod in a forum ). When a flashed the pit odin said pass but when i try to do the kernel odins gets stuck at setting up connection
Can someone help please??
( tried to take of the baterry, reboot the pc, tried all drives, installed drivers again, and i am not running kies on second plane)
Visit the rescue firmware thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30087735&postcount=6
Follow the instructions exactly, if that doesn't work then you've damaged the nand and need a new motherboard.

I wil try thank you for the answer
Sorry, but the download link is dead, do you know where can i find a similiar link
I was able to find it and flash it and everything went all right, my IMEI changed!!!
Is there anything i can do restore my original IMEI???
If you flashed an rom earlier than EMG then update to EMG, if you are on a later rom then your efs partition is probably corrupt after your brick.
If so then restore the backup of efs you made before you flashed, there is no other way to regain imei number apart from a service centre.

Bricked phone, Odin can't load the system.img

Hello.
I tried to flash stock XEO ROM to my S3, but while the whole process it stuck on loading system.img. Then when i tried to turn on the phone it shows me the yellow triangle and info that i can recover the system with Kies. But it also didn't work. I tried to flash other stock roms but it always is stuck in booting system.img
FIX:
I downloaded different roms and different ver. of android
Tried to flash several times with pit file and without but it was still stuck at system.img
I tried different ports and the result was the same
I changed the cable and reinstalled drivers and I succeed to flash 4.0.4 ver without pit file with odin 3.07
Have you tried flashing stock rom via ODIN?
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about I tried several times and it still doesn't work :crying:

Did you try install stock firmware with PIT file?
If you have 16 GB version of GT-I9300, you can try this PIT file (I tested on my device).
Odin 3.07 with PIT file;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2762337&d=1401023420
Download a stock ROM from sammobile, then put it to PDA. Before start flashing, press PIT button on Odin and select the PIT file, then press Start.
I decided to send my phone to service, when will it come back still bricked I will try it
Ok, I will get my phone back UNFIXED because they told me at the service that i have to pay for changing the firmware because my phone comes from other country.. I disagreed and told them to send my phone back.
I had an idea how to fix my phone and also some questions about that.
First, is there any way to full wipe my phone without recovery, I mean that i can;t access recovery on my bricked phone and i think that causes the problem with flashing any rom with odin (that the brokem rom i still installed and odin can' flash the new one over it). When I'll wipe the phone completely i suppose it might solve the problem. But does wiping the phone makes the phone unrecognizable for PC?
The second idea is kinda connected with the first one. I thought about flashing cf root with odin into my phone and as far as i know, it has its own recovery so i can easily wipe the phone with it and then flash the stock rom.
I know that my reply looks kinda messy but I hope you know what i mean.

Bump, need an answer to this.

Ok my phone is finally alive :cyclops: Here's the solution i figured out:

I will add it to the first post for those who have the same problem, cheers :good:

[Q] Is this what's known as "bricked"?

A while ago my phone started to restart itself for no good reason. Then it got worse and it starts randomly resetting itself (factory reset). To solve this issue I tried to do a manual factory reset myself, and the problem persisted.
I can deal with these random restarts, but then one day as it restarts it got stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy S3" screen. I tried to do another factory reset in CWM and clear the cache, but it says "E:\cache\...." isn't mounted. As I investigate further it seems the reason that it can't boot might be because the memory is not mounted I guess?
I can boot into Download mode and CWM perfectly fine, so I decided to try to flash the Stock Recovery and Stock ROM through Odin. Connection between Odin and the phone was set up fine, but then it stopped at this error message "Complete(Write) operation failed." Flashing either stock rom and recovery yields the same error . It simply can't write to the memory it seems.
Now I'm stuck at this start screen. I've heard flashing a PIT file might be able to fix it, but I have no idea what that is.
Is the phone bricked? How do I fix this? Should I use the Rescue Firmware in this post? It would be great if anyone can help me since I have been asking for help on other forums but got absolutely no response...
GT-i9300
If you can boot to download mode you can try to use the rescue firmware. No, it isn't bricked because it still works
Thanks for the response! I'm going to try the rescue firmware, but I see that it says "KOR" on the file name. Is that referring to "Korea"? My phone isn't bought in Korea does that matter? Also what's the CSC thing it's talking about?
Your description matches emmc corruption/failure, so it is a software brick.
Follow the guide for the rescue firmware it doesn't matter about the country or CSC, but make sure you include the pit file.
If that fails to flash then it's time for a new phone.

There are two versions in the rescue firmware page 4.1.2 and 4.3 the pit file is in the 4.1.2 version and can be used on both.
Now I tried to flash them with Odin 3.07, it doesn't fail nor success. Instead it got stuck at "Get PIT for mapping.." I read that this might be a driver problem, but I've reinstalled my drivers, and I even tried all the usb ports on my computer. I've terminated Kies' process, but it's still not working!
What should I do to get Odin to write onto the device???

It won't write for a reason, the emmc chip is damaged.
