Hope someone can help.
Ive moved my i605 from verizon to straight talk and everything is fine except i cant recieve or send pictures.
Ive tried several apn settings, one i found on the net, one my buddy uses on his att note 2 on ST, and tried the apn settings from straightalk.
My buddies settings didnt work at all, the other 2 work minus MMS.
One i found on net....
Apn- tfdata
Mmsc- mmsc.mobile.att.net
Mmproxy- proxy.mobile.att.net
Mmport- 80
Mcc- 310
Mnc- 410
Authentification- pap
Apn type- default,mms,supl,hipri
Apn protocal- ipv4
The settings straight talk lists..
Apn- tfdata
Mmsc- mms3.tracfone.com
Mmport- 80
Mcc- 310
Mnc- 410
Authentification- pap
Apn type- default,supl,mms,hipri
Apn protocal- ipv4
Both work but no picture messages.
I have mobile network switched to gsm
Anyone have any help, apn settings, or ideas?
Thanks

Just tried those apn settings.... same issue...no mms
Just put my ol ladies s3 on straight talk and she has same issue.... ive tried all the apn settings on her phone too

Just wanted to add that prior to switching to verizon about a year ago... i used straight talk for several years.
I used the sim from the old ST e71 nokia and used it in a galaxy s1 before they even offered "bring your own phone" and i used that sim on several different phones using different apns.
I remember back in the day having to use 2 apns ... 1 for data and 1 for mms... i wonder if something like that would work.
Anyway, ive tried about all the popular working apn settings and nothing has given me mms.
I do remember reading a comment somewhere that said on a newly activated ST phone it may take several days for mms to start working. I dont know why that would be,and doubt thats the issue but this is a newly activated ST sim.
I just dont know what else to think

I believe you need the new sim cards. sorry those settings didnt work. Also if you go to the home page of that website they have a supposed-ed mms fix for st.
I just got these sim cards in the mail 2 days ago... they are new
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk
Sorry if it was confusing, im not using the old sim i used before, was just saying that i have experience getting these sims to work and setting apn's so know its not that im not entering them correctly

Oh ok. that website has some useful info that's what I used for my att sim.

Woot! Its working! Thanks mj for a push in the right dirrection.
I had authentification type set to "none"
Only way to get it to "not set" was to reset apn default settings and then redo the ST apn and just leave authentification as not set.
Thanks again

Weird... i can send pics fine but when i receive them they come as a group chat.
I had 3 different people send me a pic to verify... they all come in a seperate group chat
Any ideas?

Uggggh, just turned off wifi and realized data isnt working but talk, text, and mms (kinda) are working.
Should i try leaving mms settings what they are and try changing the apn and apn proxy sections of my apn settings?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk
Finally..... got it all working!
Name... whatever
Apn... tfdata
Proxy... dont set
Port... 80
Mmsc... http://mms-tf.net
Mms proxy... 66.209.11.33
Mms port... 80
310
410
Authentification... pap
Apn type... default,supl,mms,hipri
Protocal... ipv4
I think i tried these settings before and mms didnt work. I just activated this new sim a couple days ago so really now beleive u must give it a few days after activation for mms to be pushed to your straight talk account. Maybe this will help someone in the future

Just wanted to add.... my received mms still pops up in a new group text conversation,
Anyone know why that may be?
Other than that everything is working

Hello,
My GS2 suddenly stopped being able to receive sms. It can send sms and mms and receive mms. I can receive a plain text converted to mms by simply adding a subject. It's happened once before but I'm not sure what fixed it.
I'm running the latest SHOstock2 now. Though I had a previous version of it when this issue first occurred. Using the stock message app. Previously when it happened I did a backup of the rom, flashed a different rom and all my unreceived texts came pouring in. I restored the backup and sms was working again. I thought if it was an error with the software that a restore would cause the problem to remain but it didn't, until now.
None of the apn settings have been touched after flashing. Called ATT and they were useless. Can't even receive system sms.
I'm going to flash a different rom but I want to figure out what may have caused this issue so it doesn't repeat.

I heard people take their sim out and put it in another phone then place it back in their phone. It was going around the shostock2 thread
I just installed Mystic Glories rom and the issue persists. I'll flash a different kernel since they both use the same. If that doesn't work I'll try the Nexus rom that I used last time. If that fails then I'll get a different sim card. Bleh.

This seems to be similar to the issue people have been having with the latest AOKP.
That makes me thinks it's possibly something to do with the AT&T network. If they don't have to tell you, they won't.
Oh, and please tell me your posting from your S3 for giggles...

I installed the latest Siyah and still no dice. I installed the latest SuperNexus and just like before, when I installed SuperNexus, the SMSes all came in. Still don't know exactly what caused it or if this is just another coincidence but I'm going to stick with SuperNexus and cross my fingers. I don't have another phone which this sim card fits.
Thank you for your time gents. If anyone else has more information on this issue it would still be appreciated. And I wouldn't be surprised if it was a network issue as well.

While you are on super nexus go into your APN settings and see Which APN is being used, then also write down all the fields that are filled in. Then the next time when you try another ROM make sure either the SAME APN setting is being used or that all the settings inside match what you had working. I have seen different ROMs have some different variations of apns. For instance I believe the old WAP.Cingular APN is default on CM10 but I usually change it for the a different APN setting. Basically what I am saying is even though you haven't touched it ever it COULD BE defaulting to a different APN. Hope you figure it out.

Apn it's for data only. It has nothing to do with sending and receiving text messages which uses the voice side of our service.
I personally think it is either at&t or something with Samsung's latest releases but searching online it has happened to other people in different forums so I'm leaning towards the network side.

I thought and I guess I am wrong here that for MMS to send/receive it has to do it over the data connection? If you have the data connection off and only on WiFi it won't send/receive? I know I have had to add a MMS APN for it to work for me in the past. I have 1 APN set just for ATT data, and one for MMS. This is usually how I set IP my apns over the past year or so:
My APN Test Settings
APN #1
NAME: ATT HSPA+
APN: phone
MMS port: 80
APN TYPE: default,internet,broadband
APN#2
ATT MMS
APN: wap.cingular
USERNAME: [email protected]
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS PROXY: wireless.cingular.com
MMS PORT: 80
MNC: 410
MCC: 310
APN TYPE: default,mms,supl
I could be wrong here but now I am intrigued. If I don't have the MMS APN I listed above and ONLY have one for data I will not receive MMS (cannot remember if I could receive regular text though). Correct me if I am wrong here but it is how I have always done it.

That is my understanding as well. Sms is sent over the voice cell network, mms over data. I've never been able to send mms over Wi-Fi.

Thanks for the clarification. I also just reread the op and see he can send/receive MMS okay but not SMS. So ya it shouldn't be an APN issue.

What happened is most likely your SMS number got messed up. This happened to me a while ago. Not sure how you get into the hidden settings in your rom. to check it but it should be
+1 312-314-9810. If this gets messed up the issue can fix it self after a few wipes and formats of the system partition. I would search on how to get into the service menu and make sure it is correct.

Yes that could also be the issue but recently that has not been the case. Putting the SIM in another phone them send and receive a message from that phone will trigger all the messages missed. Put the SIM back in the sgs2 after sms it should work fine again.

I got struck by this problem a week and a half ago. Then all of a sudden, all of my missing texts came through about 3 days later. Now, the problem has struck again. I haven't been able to receive a text since Saturday morning. As of Monday midday, I still am in a text blackout.
I went to the wiki posted in this thread and checked my service number. Everything looks AOK. I've been running ShoStock2 v5.4. On Sunday afternoon, I did a full wipe and installed ShoStock2 v6.0. I was hoping that a full wipe would fix this issue; but no luck.
I *think* that I might have an old AT&T phone somewhere that I can try and toss the SIM in to. Very frustrated.

Pour you SIM in another phone and send a text and receive one. Should see all your old ones come in after. After I did that then went to 6.0 and haven't had the issue yet again.

Hopefully the issue won't happen again. I put the phone on basic CM10 and no issues so far. It seemed to only affect ShoStock2 or the issue still exists but just hasn't recurred. The phone is what my girlfriend uses and she's not savvy enough to even know what any of the options do so she doesn't mess or change with most settings that could result in this. I'll check the other resources if it crops up again. And her SIM doesn't fit my GS3 to switch out. Thanks for posting the links and details gents.
Tonight at 7, with no changes, my phone received all of my messages from the last 3 days. We'll see if the issue is done.

How are your speeds? Mine are extremely slooooowwwww
I also having trouble with data connections. Tried the fix above and have only edge network. Has anyone been able to get 3g? I am running Task's AOKP and everything was fine until this morning sometime.
Worked like a charm. Thanks guys.
I had the same issues starting today (dallas/fort worth area) and the above apn setting changes got my data back. Speeds are lower than before but not by a whole lot, getting 3.2Mbps down instead of hovering around 4 or so before. Upload is horrid though, 228kbps now...but hey it works again
On AOKP, the APN is already setup that will work. Instead of the first one, choose ATT LTE and change the apn to "Phone" Should work just fine.

I started having problems Friday and into Saturday in places I always have good service. Seems to have cleared up today, though.
I'm now having an issue sending pictures through the stock jellybean SMS app 'messaging'. I hit the attachment icon, navigate to the picture I'd like to text and it sends, and shows 'sending' forever. Eventually it will notify me that the picture failed to deliver. Then it will continue to try to send to no avail. Never had this problem until the other day when all of this happened. Any corrrelation/thoughts?

Hello. Sorry for bumping an old thread but I have this problem on my Galaxy Nexus AOKP milestone 6 maguro. I'm with Wind Mobile in Canada so how would I get that info or where did you get that info so I can find it for Wind. I drop my 3g connection at LEAST 3 times a day and its driving me insane (turning on airplane mode to fix), probably going back to stock if I can't get help.
Anyone care to help? Thanks!

I've done some searching and didn't happen to run across anyone that was having a similar problem. Originally, I thought this might be a StraightTalk/Verizon issue, but I've confirmed that one of my family members with ST T-Mobile can text with Verizon folks just fine. So let me dive into the details...
I've had my StraightTalk T-Mobile sim card for about a week now. I activated it without any problems, set up the APN and everything seemed to be working just fine. I've been texting with a few family members and some co-workers without issues. My data and voice calls are all working fine as well.
I went to text a friend that has Verizon post paid service and he never got my text. So I sent a few more without success, then tried to text my own Verizon number (since my account is still active for the moment) and I never received my own text either. He sent me a text message that I received just fine though, but again he didn't get my response. Just to further test, I send an MMS message to myself and my friend on Verizon and that came through just fine, so it appears that all texting capabilities work with the following carriers (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, ST T-Mobile) with the exception of regular SMS to Verizon.

About the phone... I purchased an AT&T Note (sgh-i717) and unlocked it myself. The unlock was successful but I was only getting edge data since T-Mobile has re-farmed the towers in my area yet. So, I installed CWM and flashed the Blaze4G radios. I'm now getting consistent signal and H+ speed (4-8 mbps avg, 14 mbps peak). The only other thing I had to change was that my phone number wasn't showing up in the About Phone -> Status section, so I went into the dialer -> Settings -> Additional Settings -> My Phone Number and set it there in the format of xxx-xxx-xxxx. I also just flashed the T-Mobile VKL1 radio as well but no change in my sms issue.
I'm a bit lost at this point on why everything else would work except for sending sms to Verizon but yet I can receive them from Verizon just fine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Texts aren't immediate when the network is busy. Sometimes the delay can be several hours.
None of my Verizon messages are ever delivered, some from 3-4 days ago. I called Straight Talk tech support and they are tracing some of my messages. One of the things they thing might be wrong is the message center number that is configured in my phone but they didn't want to change it until after they could do further research.
Update: Confirmed the smsc is correct, so that doesn't appear to be the issue.
Just a follow up in case anyone else ever had an issue similar... a T-Mobile technician called me today, they found out Verizon had blocked my cell phone number from their network. After the tech got the ban lifted, texting is working just fine.

Here are my APN settings:

That's interesting. And it sucks. You could have spent hours\days working on something you could never fix. Did they give any reason for your block? Glad you got it worked out.
Those apn dont look right to me....im on st with my.note and.no problems.

You'll want to flash the T-Mobile ROM in the development section. Follow the instructions carefully.

Hi, I have a Stock T-Mobile HTC One with no Root using the stock APN below
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
APN Type: default,supl,admin,hipri
And my speeds on HSPS+ are super slow no more then 3.0MB
But when I'm using this APN settings bellow
APN: epc.t-mobile.com
APN Type: default,supl,admin,mms,hipri
I get 10.0MB UP to 20.MB but wont send any MMS. Has anyone run into similar issues on the HTC One? Is there a fix for MMS.
Thanks

I hope I am not intruding here, but this thread is the closest to what I am looking for (stock) and I figured that any one of you could probably answer this question.
I do not have direct access to the phone and need to pass this on to my son, so please dont skip any steps, assuming knowledge. I have never even held an HTC phone yet. My son absolutely loves it though and has me intrigued. ?
Anyway, he has an "HTC One" that he purchased here in the USA, at a T-Mobile store.
I know that with my Samsung, there is not only the Samsung line name (Note 2), but there is also a specific Model # that Sprint puts into the phone (in my case, SPH-L900). And then, even from there, it divides up further into US & International versions, each with its own model #, even within the same carrier.
I am thinking that maybe it is the same for the HTC One line?
My son looked in the Info" screen, but all it says is "HTC One" and nothing else.
Please, where should he go to find this information?
Or is this not relevant in the HTC world?
He wants to stay with the Factory ROM, but Root it. I know applying the wrong tools can quickly brick a phone.
Can someone help me with this please? Once I have the right tool, then I can take it from there. Thanks!

tried for fun
Tried the epc APN out of curiousity..it was 4G only. I guess if you live in a HSPA or LTE are, the "fast" APN is what you want. I now have a different APN to try though when traveling. This is in the Hampton Roads, VA area

i know this thread is old and it might not be the right place but i have a rooted and SIM unlocked Sprint HTC that I have my t-mobile SIM card in and I can make calls send text fine but i cant get the data working correctly. Under APN i have a default one that is locked that is
Name: T-Mobile US LTE
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: default,supl,admin,hipri,mms
and both protocols are IPv4
now it says im connected to data and i have arrows with an H above them that sometimes flashes 3G but when i try and connect to the web i get an error that says Authentication via the proxy server was unsuccessful. Now ive tried adding over APNs with fast.tmobile.com fast.t-mobile.com epc.tmobile.com with same everything except APN type ive tried blank, just defualt, the same as I have above minus the mms and nothing seems to work. And it seems i dont even connect to data till I added another APN called T-Mobile data but ive since erased it and still shows connected but I get the proxy error. Should also add im running the lastest version on InsertCoin 4.4. Please help

Has that SIM worked successfully in any android phone? Might be as easy as calling tmobile and having them reprovision your SIM. Everything above looks correct for an unmodified apn.

The only other two things I can think of that might work are go into the APN settings and click 'reset to default' reboot and see if it works. And try registering on another carrier in the network operators menu - you should get an error that your SIM isn't supported and then manual re-register on T-Mo.
i just got my mom set up with a moto e. she previously used straight talk at&t on a samsung captivate glide. i switched her over to a micro sim & everything works great except for her mms/picture messages. before i left her house, her calls & regular texts worked. she was able to send me a picture message, but she never received the pictures i tried to send her. so, my question is: does anyone have the correct/working apn settings for straight talk at&t for the moto e 2015?
please & thank you.

thanks, but that was the first place i checked for her. she is still having the issue with mms...
thanks anyway though...
Did you try some other apps like whatsapp?
she's used whatsapp in the past, but mainly for travel, using it to text when she has wifi at a hotel or something. she used to get mms when she used her old phone on st/at&t. my dad has never been able to get them, but he uses a st/tmo sim... i'm just trying to get it to work so she doesn't have to use any type of work around for it. she is currently using the stock messaging app on the moto g... not sure if she should be using hangouts or not?
i don't live with her, so i have been trying to gather a bunch of info & when i see her, test it out.
thanks for the reply.

Here's what my ATT Straight Talk APN settings are for my Moto E 2015 and it's works. Data/MMS/Etc. I use Hangouts and not Google Messaging. If this doesn't work, I dunno. I have the same phone, same plan.

Thanks for the help. I'll probably see her tomorrow so I will try it then. I've used straight talk on & off for years on about 4 different phones & haven't had this issue, so I'm kinda at a loss. Thanks again for your info.
There was a blurb a while back, when I switched to my Nexus 4 yrs ago that Straight Talk was having issues with new SIM cards on existing plans. Basically the only work around was literally waiting until the next billing cycle date and it magically worked. This affected us that switched from full SIM to micro SIM cards, but besides physical card, everything was the same. I wonder if this is rearing its head again.
Hm, interesting. Could be, I mean, she did just switch Sims... I hope it's not the case, she usually does their 3month plan.
Like I said, this is totally new for me, I've used a galaxy nexus, nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy s 3, & a nexus 5 on straight talk & never had the issue. I just recently got a moto x 2014 & planned on switching back to straight talk today.
I really appreciate everyone's help.
I ditched straight talk for T-Mobile just because of this. Best decision I've made!
Straight talk also has an app on the playstore titled APN settings

This has finally been solved.
SurferNerd, you are right, it has to do with the billing cycle. I have no idea why, but the only thing that worked was when my mom had to reup her plan. Thanks again for all your help.
