Hi there !
Please help me... if this is possible.
As you might know, when the menu bar is hidden, you still can see a tiny half-transparent button at the right edge which will pull out the bar again on push.
The thing is: That button appears in most apps like Comic/EBook Readers, even Games (!!) and others where it really annoys me....
Any idea how to get rid of it ?
PS: No root possible, updated on its own, tried different launchers, nothing changes. On my other Android devices I´m using gesture control to switch the status bar off completely.... But - of course - rooted ....
Any help warmly appreciated ... :
PPS: Am I the only one who cares ?
you must have the root access to disable it.(uninstall TaskSwicher-SKB)
i am using a custom navigation bar now.

I am currently using LMT Launcher with TaskSwitcher-SKB uninstalled. But still some bugs such as IME not at the bottom of screen.
Don't try to use any apps to hide navbar. You will lose all menu bars(3 dot at the upper right) and no way to open it.

Thanks in advance.

Has anyone looked into this? I find the ever preset icon annoying enough to not use the feature. Is there an app to hide status bar icons?

I don't think I'd want to do that. I just want to get rid of unneeded, persistent icons. Especially since so many apps stick things in there just to prevent from closing.
i too cannot stand that stupid vibration icon, i know its in vibrate, hy do i need an icon for it also

Exactly! I also just installed the awesome Badass Battery Monitor * and am really interested in a solution for hiding unneeded notification icons. I can't believe this doesn't exist.
* - "awesome" is my opinion, "Badass" is actually part of the app's name

Sorry but another guy having problem with notification item. Certain apps like GTA 3 will stay on my notification bar after exiting the game. I tried the clear button but it won't go away until I reboot my phone. Any alternate way to get rid of?
Errrrrrr sorry I couldn't resist my question when I saw notification question.
Hello all,
i'm currently in GB with my I9100P and i would like to upgrade to ICS.
I'm seraching a rom which don't look like android base ICS or iphone like so i don't want CM9 and MIUI.
I like samsung interface so i was looking in Rom samsung base.
But i don't know which is the best.
I want a stable rom with no bugs, i need a rom with brightness adjustment by pressing the notif bar. I would like also the option to view multitasking app in the notif bar.
have you a rom to suggest me ?
THX
I finally install the VK 5.4.4 rom which is very good but have some repetitive crash with application.
So now i'm only looking for a rom based on samsung ICS 4.0.4 which have the recents app buton in status bar and if possible the brigthness ajdjustment by pressing the status bar as was in Gingerbread

did you perform a Factory reset? If not , then do it now.
Ps: Never ask for best/stable Rom. Never!
Always read the forum rules!
sorry
I did a full wipe before installing the rom...
when i said crash i means application crash not phone crash, only freeze.
also sometime the flashlight turn on without any reason when i wake up the phone.
that's why i'm looking for another rom.

The ROM you flashed is not supported again on XDA.
There are many good ROMs out there for our phone
You can try anyone you want. If you don't like any ROM, just like the one you are presently using, then flash another one.
If you are looking for another ROM, then look under the two development sections. There is no need to ask for the best or stable ROM.
Of course, sorry again but i have already see the rom development section but i don't see any information about a shortcut to access to recents app in the status bar or pressing the status bar to adjust the brightness. That's why i'm asking you...

Samsung removed the status brightness function in ICS 4.0.4 firmware.
Therefore, any ROM based on stock ICS 4.0.4 firmware will lack the function.
If you really want this function, then download ICS 4.0.3 custom ROMs.
There is an app BRIGHTNESS WIDGET (I'm not sure about the name again, but you can search in playstore), which can serve the same purpose.
Ah ok, so is there any other rom which have a shortcut to access to recents app in the status bar?
Thanks

I don't know.
Go through the first page of each Stock based ROM of your choice, then check out their features. this is your job!
Hi there, noob question, just checking - is there any way to hide navigation keys and make the status bar transparent without the root? /I think not/. I'll do a root for this purpose if I have to, but could anyone please navigate me as what to do next? Don't want to go custom rom, so I guess once rooted I go for some app that hides the navigation keys and makes the status bar transparent? Sorry if this is really basic, don't have any experience with this.

Sorry mate, the only way to hide navigation keys are by gaining root access, no other way.
Once you're rooted, download Auto Hide Soft Keys, best you can get with all the functions you need and more.

Thanks! Cool! Can it do the transparent status bar as well or is that achiavable only with custom ROm?

Yes, you can transparent the status bar to whatever percent you like! No need for a custom rom, just root access.

I use Xposed Framework with the Xperia "SystemUI Patcher" module. Or you can use "GravityBox", "Tinted Status Bar" or some others.

How do you possibly do this ? I have XBlast too, as I select either 'Status bar' or 'Navigation bar', all the Background Colour options grey out.

A very simple mod to remove that pesky overflow button for those of you who have physical buttons or just don't like it appearing in the top right corner. Note that this also removes the button from the navigation bar, although I have included instructions on how to preserve the navigation bar menu button. Please reboot after installing.

Yes, it is the 3-dot menu button. I intended it to remove the button in the action bar, but I'm not sure what happens to the menu button in the navigation menu. I think it removes that too.
At last! thank you so much! That menu was a waste of space on i9100!

i vote yes for atleast ics/jb and if not too much, why not gb too.
great idea, i never thought of this before, only felt annoyed by it on stock i9100/i9300 so i dont have kk (yet)
the buttons indeed are pesky, if you have physical button, menu should popup from bottom, near to finger where it was pressed, not from the top, hate that. :silly:
this is what I wanted..
awesome..
Somewhere it's gone, somewhere it stays. Luckily I've installed this module to make the button disappear in WhatsApp and in there it's gone
Keep on with this good job :good:
Awesome! Congratulation
Thanks for the mod
But can you disable the app Icon? because I think app icon in app drawer is redundant. It's better to keep it minimalist and we can access via Xposed modules.
Thanks!
Yup I'm going to hide the icon (I didn't know how to do it) and try to deal with more apps (I know Pandora, for one, still has the overflow button)

You want the icon not to be shown in the drawer? If I'm getting it right you can give a try to this and add it to your activity:
Code:
ComponentName componentToDisable = new ComponentName("your.app.package",
"your.app.package.youractivityname");
getPackageManager().setComponentEnabledSetting(componentToDisable,PackageManager.COMPONENT_ENABLED_STATE_DISABLED,
PackageManager.DONT_KILL_APP);
and try to deal with more apps (I know Pandora, for one, still has the overflow button)

Pointing at apps that still show the button would be helpful or annoying for you?
In case, I can make a list :good:

A list of unaffected apps would be amazing By all means, that would be helpful because I can't test that many apps.
It does not disable 3dot menu in :-
-AOSP Browser
-Google Dialer
-Calculator
To disable them i use gravity box and under misc setting use force disable

For my setup (I9100 with latest CM 11 nightly build) disabling overflow with Gravity Box doesn't work. I've talked with GB's dev about this as well.
About the list, I'll make it in this post, starting with the one from rush25 and adding more, editing the post itself. If apps have generic names I'm referring to the version provided by CyanogenMod in their builds.
Apps that still show 3dot overflow button:
App Cache Cleaner
Browser
Calculator
Dialer
Google Translate
TubeMate

first, it would've been easier to say what rom are you using. i'm guessing it's some kind of kitkat custom rom. try going to settings, interface, status bar, battery status style and select hidden, now it should hide either 1 or both battery icons

I'm currently using the latest archi rom 2.3.6 which unfortunately doesn't seem to have these options but I had been using gravitybox xposed module to change the battery settings. Changed it to disable and now I have 1! Not sure how I would customise it now though but it is the battery format I usually use so it will do for now.
thanks for your help
