OK so I bought a HTC Rezound off of a kid at school for $60. The battery on it is bad, but oh well I knew that before I bought it. So there was no 4G LTE sim cars in there. Do I have to have that to unlock the device and put on another carrier.

You can try activating it with Verizon and they will give you another sim. Hopefully its not red listed.

There's a dedicated thread
As far as people getting s-off, you can send it to russia and they will s-off it for you, i dont know the details
But other than that we don't have a method

If you have a spare £150ish, you could just buy a SETool box & card with LGTool activation.

Tempting, that's a lot of money tho.
There isn't much need for s-off, id only use it to change the splash screen and flash kernels in recovery
Although, if it was that easy then someone should start an s-off service I'd pay $50 to s-off my phone

Sony unlockers can use SETool over a network using teamviewer to unlock the bootloader, on Sony devices. but we tried to S-Off a One X and a sensation XL, The HOX was connected to the PC with the SETool box and that worked fine, but my SXL which was connected via a network got all sorts of errors while trying to execute the exploit. Seems you cant S-off HTC devices over networks with SETool.

Interestingly,
I came across this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/130927878604?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Is this for real?
he also claims getting 4g with a t-mobile SIM.
Maybe someone can get a hold of this? Might be the key to unlocking the 1700 HSPA+ band.
Just my two cents.

Its real....... Also look at the feedback?
Also looks smaller than 4.7in so it might be something different.
I think T-Mobile may have flipped something on today. In SLC,UT my coworker showed me his ONE with LTE and asked me WTF is it. One bar and speed test showed 5m ↑ and 10m ↓ so kinda weird. Checked the info settings under *#*#info#*#* and sure enough it said lte.

Yeah, wrong thread but the answer is no. Bootloader unlock and flashing/rooting is different from SIM unlocking. But why would you buy on contract then SIM unlock? That doesn't even make sense.

Hello. I want to update my Thunderbolt to the newest ROM, but the phone is no longer on my plan. I upgraded my phone recently, & I did it through Amazon, which doesn't allow me to change away from the phone I upgraded to for 6 months. Regardless, I want to get the new Ice Cream Sandwich update on my Thunderbolt, possibly to see if maybe I should switch back to my Thunderbolt after I make the update, but I can't do it the normal way because I don't have active service on that phone. Would anybody here happen to know of a way that I can update my phone to Ice Cream Sandwich without service, and even though my device is not rooted?
Buy a sim adapted and put the new sim in your bolt..... No activation is needed.

I don't really understand. I'm not familiar with a SIM adapter. What does it do and where can I get one?
Since the newer sim cards are smaller than what the bolt uses people made adapters that fit the smaller sims into them. Kind of like memory card adapters. It will let you use a micro sim with your bolt without having to order a new sim for it. Just out the smaller sim into the adapter and put it into the bolt and it will work just fine without activation.

Hi . the HTC bolt work on cdma network. If I put sim adaptor work with no activation same then prepay sim card? Thank you

It should. The bolt doesn't activate over CDMA but by using the sim.

The bolt isn't a global phone.

I should mention again that if I remove my current phone from my line before September, Amazon will charge me a $400 early termination fee. I only want to update my Thunderbolt to test out the ICS update and the new Sense engine to see if I should begin using my Thunderbolt again after I'm free of this current phone. So, without reactivating my Thunderbolt, is there a way to get this update without rooting it?
You wont be deactivating anything by putting your sim in the bolt. They won't know and won't say anything.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Why not root the bolt and update that way and if you don't like it you can easily return to GB.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Because I'm honest, I'll say that the answer is: I'm not smart enough to root my device
I rooted my ASUS TF300, and I can't believe I survived it. And from what I hear, that device is one of the easiest things in the world to root.
Thank you everybody very much for your input, I will try the SIM thing!
Rooting the bolt is actually an easy process if you don't have the ICS ota.

The allinone tool should work well and I think the revolutionary method can do it without losing any data if you have the right hboot.

I thought the last update before the ICS update patched the revolutionary method

It did but using the downgrade method allows revolutionary to work. That's how I rooted my bolt. The hboot before it will allow for root without losing data.
